Queries :: Percentage (Pass / Fail) In A Text Column
Jun 6, 2013
I have about 20 columns in a query and each row is a customer.
The columns are either pass/fail but are text fields and not a yes/no set up. I want to get the percentage of a pass in the column.

I have inherited an Access project from a former employee. My school currently keeps all grades in an Access program. Right now we just assign numerical values and those are turned into grades (I cannot actually find this table). Overall it works well, however, we now have classes where we need to input Pass/Fail and Audit.

I have created a cross tab query that contains a row heading for Entity and Total Cases. I would like to have a percentage of the Case Total for Each Category as well as the count for each category. It works fine for just the counts and here is the sql behind it:
TRANSFORM Count(CASEDATA.CASESTATUS) AS CountOfCASESTATUS
SELECT IUIDCODES.CODEDESCRIPTION, Count(CASEDATA.CASETYPECODE) AS CountOfCASETYPECODE
FROM (CASEDATA INNER JOIN CASESTATUSCODES ON CASEDATA.CASESTATUS = CASESTATUSCODES.CODEID) INNER JOIN IUIDCODES ON CASEDATA.IUID = IUIDCODES.CODEID
WHERE (((CASEDATA.CASETYPECODE)=63) AND ((CASEDATA.FYSTATUS)=6 Or (CASEDATA.FYSTATUS)=7 Or (CASEDATA.FYSTATUS)=8))
GROUP BY IUIDCODES.CODEDESCRIPTION
PIVOT CASESTATUSCODES.CODEDESCRIPTION;

I have a query that has clients sorted in the row area and a column from my table that is set up as text but only has yes/no options for the data. I have a pivot table that counts the yes's and counts the no's and finds a grand total; however, I want to be able to find the percentage of pass's given the grand total. I'm able to do this in Excel and was wondering if it was possible in Access.

I have a database that I previously ran successfully on a Windows XP system. I recently received a new PC with Windows 7 Enterprise (32 bit) that is having issues with running queries from the same database. I am still running the same version of Access (2003) on the new laptop but the queries seem to stall out and Access becomes non-responsive. Can switching from one operating system to another cause this issue? I am really just starting to use Access, so I am a novice at troubleshooting and thought that I would ask this question before digging deeper.

Here's a sample of the query code for survey I made, for example
Question 1 will be
1) Male or Female?
(radio button answer_id 111) Male
(radio button answer_id 112) Female
etc etc...
My question is how do I set my query to show a graph / percentage value of total unique answer_id's in relation to the question_id.
e.g. Question 1: 66.67% chose 111, 33.3% chose 112
question_idanswer_id
1111
1111
1112
2116
2117
3119
3121
4126
4126
4126
I hope I was clear enough am quite new to Access and I really thought I could do this with pressing a few filter/sort buttons but alas I haven't found a way yet.

I have set the format of a text box (named: scrILS) to percentage. It shows on the form as 0.00%
When I try to run calculations off of it like: = [scrILS]*[totBuysFYDP1], it throws this error: #TYPE!
It seems as though the textbox is keeping it as text for the percent sign "%" is preventing any calculations against it... here's the strange part... it doesn't happen initially when I open the form... the calculations work and I get no error, but I have code that recalculates everything based on values picked in a list box... on the requery I get the error.
When I look at the watch frame for that control it shows the scrILS value as:
"00.0%" not 00.0%... any thoughts on this?
I attempted to just take the thing as a string and use a replace function against the "%" then calculating... that works, but then the initial form load throws the error.
Seems like I am missing something in the property settings, but I don't know what. Is there something that forces the format value, setting percentage as a number vs. text?... I thought that was just part of the format setting...no?

I have a text file delimited and uploaded the information to a new Access Table. One field "MarketValue" has a number followed with a percentage (i.e. 100%, 54%, etc..), however it converts as a text column.
How can I convert the column to a TRUE percentage field representing the value originally imported.

Hi all,
I would very much appreciate help with this one. So thanks in advance if anyone can help.
I have a table which has a Text Field (it has to be, I'm afraid). The data is listed as follows:
5.6%
12.23%
2.45%
etc.
I need to use these values to multiply other figures in queries. I have tried FORMAT and various other ways in the query to convert the data, but to no avail. All I get as a result is an ERROR. Anyone got any ideas?

Notes contains a number of text boxes for entering data, one of them being for Job No. Beside it is a link to the form JobLookup. This form contains a simple listbox that lists all the job no. Is it possible to pass the selected job no from this list to the text box on the Notes form?
Hope this makes sense :)

I am trying to add a percentage sign (%) after a number I get from a table, thus the number 1,5 should display 1,5% and NOT 150%.
I am using the Format Property of the text field.
I tried #,##% which converted the value to a percentage (1,5 became 150%) Then I tried #,##"%" and #,##\% Access ignored both and changed the value in the property field to #,##% Using the Format function is not an option because it is a bound field which should be editable.

So I have a report with the following text box controls:
[Surname] & ", " & [Firstname]
=Sum([Quarter1_A]) - Named "Quarter_Total"
=Sum([Quarter1_T]) - Named "Quarter_Target"
=Val([Quarter_Total])/Val([Quarter_Target]) - Named "%Target" (Percent Format)
The report is grouped by the expression '[Surname] & ", " & [Firstname]'.I am trying to sort the records by the %Target text box. I tried entering the expression into the sort function but it still sorts by the grouped expression. I also tried sorting by the name of the text box but got the same results. How can I sort by the desired control?

Hi,
I'm new here and I thought I had already posted this but i couldn't find it so I am posting again... sorry if I've posted twice
When I pass a value from MyTextBox to MyComboBox using:
Me.MyTextBox = Me.MyComboBox
It does Not trigger the AfterUpdate Event of the ComboBox
I need it to! Any Suggestions??
I have tried: copy and pasting by but that creates a problem
Me.MyTextBox = BarCodeData$ 'passes the variable value to MyTextBox
Me.MyTextBox .SetFocus
Me.MyTextBox .SelStart = 0
Me.MyTextBox .SelLength = Len(Me.MyTextBox ) + 1
SendKeys "^c" 'copies the value of of MyTextBox
as soon as I add the below line, it no longer copies the value in
MyTextBox
Me.MyComboBox.SetFocus
The onEnter Event of MyComboBox has the following code that works fine.
Private Sub cboLookupPart_Enter()
Me.MyComboBox.SetFocus
Me.MyComboBox.SelStart = 0
Me.MyComboBox.SelLength = Len(Me.MyComboBox.Text)
SendKeys "^v"
End Sub
If I ran all the code above, all works but the "Copy" and thus anything
that may be in the clipboard is pasted into MyComboBox, and the
AfterUpDate of MyComboBox triggers.
I know that there are compelling reason NOT to use the SendKeys but I
was just trying something
What I'd really like to do is eliminate MyTextBox and pass the Variable
directly to MyComboBox:
Me.MyComboBox= BarCodeData$
And have it force the AfterUpdate Event of MyComboBox
Eagerly awaiting suggestions!
Thank you,
Robert Bloomfield

I have about 40 queries based on employed trainees from different groups(MMF, MKO, CNP,...). Now, what I'm trying to do is find the percentage of trainees employed from the total trainees, % employed in community from total trainees, % employed at wuskwatim from total trainees,... and so on.
If you take a look at my DB, you will find I have have MANY queries made. Is there an easier way to find this kind of information?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I just recently figured out how to count how many jobs a CSR has submitted and how many errors a CSR has made. What I need to do now is combine these two queries and figure the percentage of jobs correct that a CSR has submitted. I tried to combine these to queries in a report and figure it out that way, but that didn't work. When I combined the two queries I lost the individual information in the queries. I tried to combine the two queries but it wouldn't let me. It said that I was trying to combine the fields of a table and a query and that I should use one or the other.
Can anyone help me?

I have an access project that I am working on and need to be able to select multiple items from a listbox and have the exact selections appear in a textbox on the same form. I have looked around and have not been able to find any code that works.
I have tried:
Me.user2 = Me.slct_auditor.Column(0, 1)
Me.user3 = Me.slct_auditor.Column(0, 2)
Me.user4 = Me.slct_auditor.Column(0, 3)
Me.user5 = Me.slct_auditor.Column(0, 4)
Me.user6 = Me.slct_auditor.Column(0, 5)
Me.user7 = Me.slct_auditor.Column(0, 6)
Me.user8 = Me.slct_auditor.Column(0, 7)
but when skipping the first item in the listbox it is still passed as into the textbox.

I'm new to this and I've created a report that shows evaluation scores before and after for some training we are delivering. The Query I've created works out the percentage of change for each record. The problem I'm having is that I can't now summarize these percentages for each instructor.
What I'm entering to retrieve the percentage score is:
=(Sum(IIf(IsNumeric([Percentage Change]),[Percentage Change],0)))/(Sum(IIf(IsNumeric([Percentage Change]),1,0)))
What i get back is as follows:
Before score = 2.85 (correct)
After Score = 4.22 (correct)
Percentage of Change = 55% (incorrect this should be 48% )

How to calculate the percentage of kilometers per order compared to the total number of kilometers per carrier.
In the attached screenshot send queries where I need formula.
Mileage on the orders of the field called "Korkma" . The formula should look like: # [Korkm] / [total kilometers per carrier] #.
I do not know how to get the total mileage driven by the carrier (the carrier is in the query in the Field Name Plate) for the month.
For example:
date 1.1.2013.,Plate:Pribus Korkm= 37
date 2.1.2013.,Plate: Pribus,Korkm=56
date 10.1.2013.,Plate: Pribus, Korkm= 70
Formula: [37]/[163] = 0,23
[56]/[163]= 0,34
[70]/[163]= 0,43

I'm trying to calculate the percentage change between records/rows. I've searched around the internet and found 2 possible examples, but they are very specific to the individual's database and I'm struggling to understand.
Here are two examples:
[URL] ....
[URL] .....
I believe I need to create a query based on another query (which I can do). I would need to create a column in the new query that calculates the percentage difference, but what's the formula/contents of that column?

I have a query that calculates a percentage that works fine. The sql is like so:
SELECT Table1.cost, Table1.sales, Table1.location, [sales]-[cost] AS GrossProfit, [GrossProfit]/[sales] AS GrossProfitPC
FROM Table1;
If I try to set criteria to select records based on the calculated value of the expression (eg; only select records with a GrossProfit percentage > 50) when I run the query it asks for a parameter as if the field [GrossProfit ] were a parameter.
Is there a way i can set a criteria based on the value of the percentage field?
