Account Number
Start Date

Cost data**
Budget data**

Table 2 (Imported excel file with cost/budget data):
Account Number
Cost data**
Budget data**

Table 1 is the main table that will be viewable in this database. The idea here is that new Account Numbers can be added to Table 1 throughout the year. It then pulls the cost/budget data into Table 1 based on the matching Account Number between table 1 and 2.

So, if the Account Number (Table 1) = Account Number (Table 2) then it pulls the cost/budget data into the cells on that row. I am trying to make this automated since this data is updated weekly and imported into Table 2 from excel.

Update Table For Same Account Number

I am trying to make an Update Query that will update a table that has the same account numbers and assign them a value....ie.1,2,3,4 and so on. Does anyone know how I can do that?

Example:

If Account Number Already Exists In Linked Table

I have a table called tblAccounts and a form called frmEnter_new_accounts. In my frmEnter_New_Accounts form is a Text Box for Account #. I want to have it so that when the user enters an account # it checks the tblAccounts table for a duplicate account # and then displays a message box (or Pop-Up form) to tell the user that the Account Number entered already exists. I would also like that box to offer the user the option to either Close that form without saving or return to the form to reenter a different account #.

I know I would probably do this in the LostFocus event or BeforeUpdate.

Does anyone have any ideas or samle code to assist me in this adventure?

I have one table named Entry. This table have account number,work organization, price, date and etc.

I use a combo boxes in form which is connected to query and I can easily choose one account number,one work organization and date to see an report. There is also a possibility to left some of the fields blank, it will bring report if is null.

Now I need to make a form that have a possibility to bring up a report for multiple selections of account number and work organization?

Queries :: Pulling Name Instead Of Associated ID Number

I have three tables the tblStudentInfo (holding the persons main data), the tblEducation (holding the students education records) and the refInstution (holding all university's and college information).I am pulling PersonID, name, etc from the tblStudentInfo, education records from tblEducation.

the problem is that in the query it displays the institution ID instead of the Institution name. How do i get the query/rpt to show the name instead of the ID?

On the form Institution this is pulled from the refInstitution table and the ID InstName etc is a combo box 0; 1.0; etc so the display on the form shows the name of the university instead of the ID number.

Sequential Number On The Basis Of Cell Value In Table

I have a table called External Audit.

I want each record to get a unique sequential number on the basis of Type of Audit.

Type of Audit column has 3 options OB, INR, MINR to choose from

If i select type as OB then the notification number should start from 1 and carry on numbering it whenever I select the same value.

When I select different type eg: INR then it should again start number on the basis of type. INR1 INR2, INR3 etc.

Is sequential number is the right word to use for this function ?

I have a tblCommets that has 2 columns in it. The first is an identifier (1,2,3) and the second column is a comment associated with that identifier. Is it possible to use a query to pull that comment based on a user selection? So, if the user selects 1 then the comment associated with 1 is pulled, but if the user selects 2 then that comment results.

Modules & VBA :: Trimming White-space After Pulling Data From Excel Cell?

I've got a piece of VBA scripting which runs as an event linked to a button on my MS Access form.

I maintain a database of members of staff at my organisation. It's pretty outdated...

I'm basically wanting to pull in their updated data (extracted from on our payroll system) from a spreadsheet, into a form, when clicking a button on a particular person's record.

This is what I have so far.

The function "CStr(DDERequest())" converts the cell number into the readable data, however I seem to have whitespace below the value.

What would I need to do to strip out this whitespace? Would I use strtrim? If so, I am unsure of the syntax... how would I incorporate strtrim into the above?

I've created a database with entries corresponding to different participants in a tasting experiment. All the entries are stored in a single table. The participants are each members of a family, with participants of a family given a family number (increments with family) (see image link below).

I want to be able to check that for either 'Mother' or 'Father' of 'Child1','Child2', etc. within the same family, the location within the sweet, sour, bitter column is the same.

(I'm asssuming five queries will have to be run, one for each of the flavours).

To reiterate, I want to check for example if 'Mother' and 'Child1' within 'Family Number' 3 taste 'Bitter' in the same place (Which they do - 'Middle').

Forms Question - Account Number

I have a list of account numbers for members, they have distinct member numbers. I have it set up for users to search for the member, then the member number will auto-populate. I also need to account for members with no member number. I would like to have the user click on the check box "Non-Member" and somehow assign a Member number...starting with NM. So the first non-member would be NM00001, next NM00002. I thought I could create a table with the sequence of NM numbers. I am just unsure of how to tell my form to populate that field when the Nonmember box is checked.

Any ideas?

I have a couple different reference files that get updated each week. Sometimes there are missing data elements, so I'd like to structure a select query to show me those records that have blank elements but I'd like the similar records to be pulled in as well, so I can make a determination as to how to populate the blank records..

See attached example: I have a client ID reference table that gets populated with forecast owner names (individuals responsible for the customer) from a couple of different sources. Sometimes there are names attached and sometimes the field is blank.

How can I structure a query to show me just those Client ID's that have multiple entries with blank AND non-blank forecast owners? I'd also like to exclude single/multiple records where there are only blank records...

Expression - Pulling A Number From A Text Box

I am trying to pull a number from a text box. I listed the expression for the box below. [Current Record] is a number and Count(*) is a number. I couldn't figure out what field gave me the total records so I did a count instead. If I want to pull the value from just the count portion, what expression would do that?

Note the spaces on either side of "of"

Forms :: Return Value Based On Another Cell

I have a database (small one which i designed)

I have created all the tables.

I then have a "form" called July-14 (i need to figure out how i can automatically replicate this form for new months)

Anyway, one of the cells pulls out a product name (using the lookup wizard), i then have a cost cell which i would like to populate automatically based on the product name.

The table July-14 links to a product table which has ONLY those 2 attributes in there, the name and cost.

How do i get it to pull the cost automatically.

I have an excel data file that is updated monthly (and I am not able to have the source file format changed of course) that will be my linked table for Access 2007. The file reports monthly data and adds the new month to the right of the historic in a layout like this:

Tree | Orchard | Province | Jan % red | Jan % green | # Limbs | Feb % red | Feb % green... etc so each month it adds 3 new fields to the data.

I have queries (rightly or wrongly) that will calculate the number of apples that month and report on those higher than a certain percentage. I would like to do this without having to create a static table to append to each month as the new data file will always show the full YTD results anyway (and I don't like to store data in my database).

I have a query that counts the number of fields in the raw data file and am wondering if there is a way to have access only run the number of queries required based on the number of fields. i.e. if 11 fields then run queries 1 thru 5, if 14 run 1 thru 6 etc.

Modules & VBA :: Number Rounding Error When Pulling Double From Recordset?

I have 2 similar numbers in a table with the following parameters:

Double, Fixed, DecPlaces = 2
One number (GLminor) = 0.10
Second Number (GLmaj) = 0.50

When i use the following code to create and pull the numbers from a recordset the (Gmin) is OK and displays as 0.1 but the (Gmaj) has a problem and displays as 0. So when i'm attempting to use it in an equation (OtherNumber) / (Gmaj) i'm getting a divide by zero error.

Code:
sSQL1 = "SELECT * FROM tblRScales WHERE ID = " & RScaleID
Set rs1 = CurrentDb.OpenRecordset(sSQL1, dbOpenDynaset)
rs1.MoveFirst
Gmaj = rs1!GLmaj

I've tried using CDec(OtherNumber) / CDec(Gmaj) and still get the same error.

As both numbers have the same properties in the table parameters i'm completely lost as to why one seems OK while the other seems to round down to 0.

I would like a user to specify the total number of records they need from a query result. The result must be random, therefore cannot filter on any field or data in the table.

On a form, the user enters the total # of records they need and selects a button that executes this:

Valildation Based On Previous Cell Entry

I'm new to this forum and I'm sorry if this is a repeat question...I looked in previous threads, but could not find my particular questions.

Here's the situation:
I enter a bird name in my form (I've set up a combo box of 200 choices). Each bird species has an max and min possible wing measurement. So when I enter a newly captured bird in my form, the wing measurement must fall between the minimum and maximum for that particular species. I've done similar things with cascading combo boxes, but can't figure out how to the do a between-type statement in this situation.

I have generated a report with my entire list of personnel, and I have created a column that generates thier age based of another column using this:

=DateDiff("yyyy",[Birthday],Now())+Int(Format(Now(),"mmdd")<Format([Birthday],"mmdd"))

Now my question, im trying to hide the rows of those who age is older than 26. If thats not possible maybe highlight the entire rows of those under 26, i used conditional formatting to highlight the age, but not the entire row.

I have a table called StockTable with the following fields Location, Status, Serial, Make, Model, LastDate, DotNumber

I also have a table called FCDateRange with three fields

DateStart DateEnd and DotNumber

For example

3/7/13 - 3/13/13 - 1
3/14/13 - 3/20/13 - 2

Im trying to figure how to write a query that if the lastdate from the StockTable falls during the DateStart and DateEnd fields it will assign it the number in the DotNumber field
