Queries :: Pulling Records Based On Date Of Another Record?
Sep 29, 2014
I have a file of transaction history from the accounting system. All of the payroll cash payments are coded as ZG. Payroll accruals are coded as ZC. I need a sum of payroll accruals by department that have the same date or later than the last payroll cash payment. How do I write that query?

Hello All...
I'm very new to Access.. so please forgive my ignorance..
Here is the scenario..
I have a table with two fields named "item" & "description" that contains 10 records total.
I have another table with 100 records with the fields "invoice #","item", "price paid","date paid","time paid".
The item fields are linked between the two, and the 100 records contain different invoices for these ten items.
I want to pull the price paid off of the latest invoice, based on the time and date... What is the easiest way to do this?
Thanks!

I have a couple different reference files that get updated each week. Sometimes there are missing data elements, so I'd like to structure a select query to show me those records that have blank elements but I'd like the similar records to be pulled in as well, so I can make a determination as to how to populate the blank records..
See attached example: I have a client ID reference table that gets populated with forecast owner names (individuals responsible for the customer) from a couple of different sources. Sometimes there are names attached and sometimes the field is blank.
How can I structure a query to show me just those Client ID's that have multiple entries with blank AND non-blank forecast owners? I'd also like to exclude single/multiple records where there are only blank records...

I have a tblCommets that has 2 columns in it. The first is an identifier (1,2,3) and the second column is a comment associated with that identifier. Is it possible to use a query to pull that comment based on a user selection? So, if the user selects 1 then the comment associated with 1 is pulled, but if the user selects 2 then that comment results.
Code : =Select[tblComments].Column(2)

Table 1:
Account Number
Start Date
End Date
Cost data**
Budget data**
Table 2 (Imported excel file with cost/budget data):
Account Number
Cost data**
Budget data**
Table 1 is the main table that will be viewable in this database. The idea here is that new Account Numbers can be added to Table 1 throughout the year. It then pulls the cost/budget data into Table 1 based on the matching Account Number between table 1 and 2.
So, if the Account Number (Table 1) = Account Number (Table 2) then it pulls the cost/budget data into the cells on that row. I am trying to make this automated since this data is updated weekly and imported into Table 2 from excel.

I have a form where someone enters a 'Job' to be done which in turn creates a record in a table with all this information
On the form I have a field called 'Repeat Frequency' where the user can choose how often they would like this 'Job' to repeat. e.g. Monthly
Then, on another form someone else can check what 'Jobs' should be done on that day
I have managed to get this to work fine using the DatePart function and it displays all jobs to be done that fall on the current day (e.g. if they choose to repeat it weekly, it will look for all entries where the datePart "d" [DateToBeDone] = Date()-7, -14, -21 and -28)
The problem is that i have been limited to the options of 'repeatability'
What i would like to do is change the options from 'Weekly', 'monthly' etc and instead have a field makrked "Repeat every so many days"
Is there a criteria i can use in a query where i can show records every so many days? i.e. if there is a job in the system that should repeat every 7 days and the [DateToBeDone] is set to 31/10/13, it would return this record on 07/11/13, 14/11/13, 21/11/13 and so on?
I Have tried DatePart ("d", [DateToBeDone]=DatePart ("d", (Date()-[RepeatDays] but what happens is it only shows it if the day is that many number of days in the past and not multiples as i said above.

I've been asked to get some information from my database and I'm a bit stuck.
I have a list of refunds in tbl_main and each one includes a dateReceived. I make a record in either tlk_located, tlk_unableToLocate or tlk_bulk depending on the outcome when we're trying to send the money back to whoever it belongs to. Each table has a time stamp (named locatedTime, unableTime and timestamp respectively) field
My manager wants me to report how many entries were unworked on each day in the year, and what the value of them was. An entry is unworked if there is no entry in either of the 3 tables.
So I need a query that lists a range of dates, and for each date counts the number of entries where tbl_main.dateReceived is <= to that date and either has no record in located, unable or bulk or has a record with a timestamp > than the date. (It has been processed now, but hadn't been on the date we are looking at)
I can manage a query that looks at a certain date that it prompts for on each run:
Code:
SELECT Count(tbl_main.trust2PK) AS CountOftrust2PK, Sum(tbl_main.amountRefunded) AS SumOfamountRefunded
FROM ((tbl_main LEFT JOIN tlk_located ON tbl_main.trust2PK = tlk_located.trust2FK) LEFT JOIN tlk_unableToLocate ON tbl_main.trust2PK = tlk_unableToLocate.trust2FK) LEFT JOIN tlk_bulk ON tbl_main.trust2PK = tlk_bulk.trust2FK
WHERE (((tbl_main.dateReceived)<=[cutoffDate]) AND ((tlk_located.locatedTime) Is Null Or (tlk_located.locatedTime)>[cutOffDate]) AND ((tlk_unableToLocate.unableTime) Is Null Or (tlk_unableToLocate.unableTime)>[cutOffDate]) AND ((tlk_bulk.timeStamp) Is Null Or (tlk_bulk.timeStamp)>[cutOffDate]));
I would like a query that lists all dates in a range, and shows the same information for each day listed.

I have a dlookup which gets the empid on login - i know this works as i fire a msgbox with this, this is stored in a global variable.
i have the following code running on 'form_load' to set securities however its just using the first records and not the ones linked to the specified accont - i have a second messagebox fire just before these dlookups just so i know the global is correct
Code:
Private Sub form_load()
DontKick = 0
DoCmd.SetWarnings False
[Code].....
The EmpIDLogin is 1786 (my own) and i have pasted a copy of the table in question (well a portion)
its only using the first row of checks to provide permissions.

I have a combo named cbogroup. I have a tblGroup with several records (active, non-active, nursery, etc.). One of the records is *ALL*. Using the CboGroup the user can pick any of the records. Howeverr, if they pick the *ALL* record, I want the query to pull up animalID based on all records in the TblGroup. If another record is picked (i.e. nursery), then the query will pull up only animalIDs that are in the 'Nursery'.Can I put a (iff then) in a query in order to differentiate a query based on all group records or a query based on only one record?

I have a table which includes a start date field and completion date field for housebuilding.
I am trying to extract all records that have either a started date or a completed date between 2 dates supplied by the user. I have tried to use Between on both fields but that doesn't return results between the fields.
It workd if I just do it on EITHER the start date field OR the completion date field so that implies to me that I need to break it into 2 queries, one returning start date recrods and the other returning completion date records but then I would need to have somthing that removes records that appear in both the start date and the completion date results.

I have two tables, One table containes customer name, etc., tblcustomers the other table contains the tbltimelog, log of activity start time end time. No issues. I want to generate a form based on the dateofentry for the time record. I am not able to get a summary lets say I spent 20 hours on ABC and 20 hours on CBS. If I spent 3 different days on ABC and 6 different days on CBS it will not add them together it will list it ABC 3 times and CBS 6 times. I have tried the distinct function but it doesn't work because the date is distinct. Is there a way to do this as an SQL or whatever. Thinking I could just create a new table and calculating the totals but that seems to be a waste.

I am trying to filter out information for an ODBC query I have written, to obviously make it more concise. Because our data is not set up very logically, a lot of my queries are based on text...but that is another story. My current situation starts with a simple make-table query finding certain data within a date range. This is followed up by another simple make-table query to find other specific data within another specified date range. Then I have a cross-tab query between the two tables to locate all the data that shares the same unique identifiers. My problem lies with trying to only pull information from a certain date range. For example, I want information to be included if the data has the same unique identifier as well as falls within +/- 7 days of the received date (dd/mm/yyyy) also listed in one of the tables. Each record will likely have different received dates so I cannot set it as a constant.
Make sense to anyone? I am not confident enough to play around with some expressions...well it is more I haven't been successful at using them correctly.
All help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jay

I'm attempting to build a simple database for a martial arts tournament registration. The weight division (Fin, Fly, Heavy, etc.) depends on the age, the sex and the weight. I've tried this several different ways, most recently by using one table called "competitors" with all the entrant's information, and several other tables based on the age class/sex (i.e. I have a table called Age 8-9 Male with the weights and divisions in it, and other tables for the other ages/sex).
So, basically, what I'd like to have happen is a report that will lookup in the correct table the division, based on the weight entered. In other words, for a record where the age is 8-9 and the sex is Male, the report compares the weight to the values in the 8-9 Male table, or if the record is a 12-13 Female, it looks in the 12-13 Female table for the weight, and places the correct division in the Division field of the report.
Probably going about this wrong.....but any help would be appreciated.

I am having a problem pulling some data from a query to populate text boxes in a form
Text27 = DLookup("'SumOfSumOfDocCount'", "SumTotalPerf", "DateReceived=" & Forms.Tracker.Text23.Value & "AND 'BookedInID'=" & Forms.Tracker.BookedInID.Value)
I am trying to pull the sum of document count from the SumTotalPerf query where the datereceived in the query matches the date on the form and the BookedInID in the query matches the BookedInID on the form, at the moment Text27 just displays as blank with no error messages displayed so I am lost as to what im doing wrong, Ive double checked all the spelling for my column names etc and all is correct.

I have a table that stores records by "return date". I would like to create a delete query that removes all records that fall outside of the date range entered on a specific form (frmMainMenu).
I can deleted the records that match the form criteria, however that is not what I need. The criteria used to delete the records was:
Between [Forms]![frmMainMenu]![from date] And [Forms]![frmMainMenu]![to date]
Let's say that the frmMainMenu contain the date range of 8/1/05 to 8/10/05, however the table contained data from 6/1/05-8/14/05, I would like for the query to delete all records that have a date 6/1/05-07/31/05 and 08/11/05-08/14/05.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help![/SIZE]

I'm trying to figure out how I can pull the most recent entry in a table for each of the properties in our database. Let me give you some background. This access database is used to format reports from an SQL database - all of the tables are linked and all of my other reports work great except for the one I'm trying to create from a table that gets updated every day by way of a stored procedure that runs every night on the SQL server. In my mind this shouldn't make a difference and I should be able to select whatever data I want from this table/query based upon whatevery criteria I want. The field in the table I'm trying to use is a "date stamp" of when it was updated via the stored procedure. I want the last entry made for each property so I selected "last" as the criteria which should get me approx. 20 lines - one for each property. But when I use this I still get back multiple entries for each property. This seems like it would be easy to do but everything I try doesn't seem to work.
That's why I've turned to the experts here for help.
Thanks

How do i get all of the records from the last 24 hours regardless of system time?

Hi
Apologies if this is really basic - I am trying to write a query to show all records from table A linked to table B so that if a field is blank in table B, it will show. At the moment, every time I run the query, it only shows me records which have entries in both tables. (They are linked by ID no).
ie there are 77 records in table A. Only 23 in table B but I want a query showing which ones in table A do not have something in field "x" on table B. Does that make any sense ? As ever, I'd be ever so grateful for help.
While I'm at it, does anyone know anything about getting a database to produce reminders ie based on date entered, highlight when 3 month review is due ?
Thank you thank you

I have a query based on a table which has a date field. the field both in the table and the query have the time also in the date value so when I try to query on a date I get nothing if I copy the date and time from the field I will get the result for that record if I just use the date I get nothing. I have tried the format which does display just date but if you click on the field the time is also there You must be able to query for a date only and get all the records.

I have developed a Debt Management program for work but I am stuck on a feature that we need to add to it. Basically I have a table which holds "planned future transactions". These are ad hoc transactions that need to be added from time to time to the clients budget. For example the client might have $500 a quarter for school fees for the next two years or he might receive a bonus every six months for the next 5 years. Currently we are putting these in manually but it is tedious and is causing complaints. The feature I require is to be able to add a record such as the school fees, nominate that this fee is paid every three months for the next 8 quarters and get the system, say through an append query? to create 8 records, each with the appropriate date 3 months after the previous one.
Any suggestions or assistance would be appreciated.
Thankyou

Is there a way to make a form that will display all records based on a single date, at the same time, in the same format each and every time?I have a table which has the following fields:
ID (Autonumber, PK)
ServiceDate
RunningNumber
BonnetNumber
Deallocate (yes/no)
Now, I would quite like to keep the form in a style similar to all the others I have, not least as I have to cater for users of all age and abilities, so keeping things as simple. I have attached an image - each row to represent a record basically, I would like the form to open and show the same layout on each day (I would place the textboxes etc in route groups); a null value would not be allowed for at least one field in each record, I could force the records to populate the form in the same way each day?

When I add a record to table A (using a form) the first field I enter is a date. That date will then determine which records I see in my drop down list from table B (via a query).
Some records in table B have EffectiveFrom and EffectiveTo dates recorded - because they are now obsolete, other records have no dates recorded in these fields because they active.
How can I view and then select from the drop down only those records in table B which are effective/valid to the date entered in table A?
