Queries :: Putting A Label In Front Of Real Field Name
Apr 4, 2014
I have a query in which some of the field names were assigned a while back and don't make a lot of sense to the person who gets the report so I give them new labels in the query...for example:
I pull in the field AE_resp_req and in front of that I type in RM Response: AE_resp_req and when I run the query, the name for the field is RM Response and it works great. I have another field called Category_Rating that I pull into this query and I did the same thing: Exam Rating: Category_Rating (field name) but when I run the query it still says Category_Rating and I get no errors or messages..
I have designed a split database( with back end and front end), I am just wondering what would be the best way to put a password for both of the back and front end.
I am trying to create a database (duh!). At the moment, I have two tables. One table is a small timetable with the fields:
Day, Airline, Flight Number, Time, Origin, Destination, Aircraft
The other table (Delay) has the following fields:
Date, Day, Airline, Flight Number, Time, Origin, Destination, Delayed by.
I would like to do the following. In Delay I put in the date: 01/07/2005, fine. The Day (field format Date/Time dddd) is also 01/07/2005 which Access transofrms into the word "Friday". Airilne is BA. In Flight Numbers, I want the database to do a query on "TIMETABLE" to search all flights that operate on a Friday as some do not operate daily. (By the way in the 'Day' column of Timetable the values are "Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday" or "Monday Thursday Saturday" depending on the flight). This query/lookup should be performed right after I type 01/07/2005 in the "day" field of "Table: Delay". A lookup combo box should be displayed when I arrive at the field FLight Number. I select a flight (e.g.: BA001) and automatically the Time, Origin and Destination of the flight should appear in the "Table: Delay".
I have been unsuccessful at even getting past the first hurdle. I tried a query of the "Table: Timetable" and fields "Day" and "Flight Number". The Criteria I do not know what to put in. "Like [Delay]![Day]" or "[Delay]![Day]" does not help and brings up nothing. However, "Like *Monday*" does bring up all the flights which operate on a Monday. However isn't there some way of telling the query to automatically occur after I type in the relevant day in the "Delay" table? Futhermore I would like to avoid (but not totally exclude if it's impossible) macros as eventually I hope to publish this to SQL or whatever.
How does one cause certain data to appear in another field based upon the data entered in another field.
For example: I enter in the field the word "Carrot" in a field called food and the word "Orange" appears in the field color. And then if I enter the word "Beans" in the field food then the word "Green" appears in the field color.
I have created an Access DB for personal use and I am willing to sort the queries in folders. I haven't found a way to do this, is it actually possible?
Having 40 queries all inside the database window is not so convinient...
Sorry guys, I thought this would be simpler than it was!
Basically I just want to update my "Resolution date" field with the date or time now (which I know how to do) but AFTER I input data in my "Resolution" field ie I want a field to automatically record what time I am entering the text in my "Resolution" field?
How do I do this, and can I do it without writing a macro? I thought it was along the lines of After Update, but now I am confused!
I need to change the below to a where clause to fit inside a union query that is just where clauses.
tblNEWNONTODATA.DateOfVisit) AS FirstOfDateOfVisit FROM tblNEWNONTODATA GROUP BY tblNEWNONTODATA.EVX, tblNEWNONTODATA.TCGDecision HAVING (((tblNEWNONTODATA.TCGDecision)="Adopted" Or (tblNEWNONTODATA.TCGDecision)="Hot Tasked") AND ((First(tblNEWNONTODATA.DateOfVisit))>=#10/1/2014#));
I have a database of people who have a "Joined" date. i.e. 09/1/2012. I would like to set up a query that tells me how long (in years) that they joined.
Hey guys im really stuck on this one and hope some one can help me out.
I have the following structure:
Table: Products ID Product Name
Table: Suppliers ID Supplier Name
Table: Prices ID Product Name Supplier Name Supplier Offer
Query: QrySuppliers Prices.ID Prices.Product Name Prices.Supplier Name Prices.Supplier Offer Percent Off Trade: IIf(IsNull([Products]![Trade Price Euros]),0,([Products]![Trade Price Euros]-Nz([Prices]![Supplier Price],0))/[Products]![Trade Price Euros])
Because the "Percent Off Trade" field is unbound to a table I cant get the data into a report, instead every time I open the report it asks me for Products!Trade Price Euros :(
I've never tried doing complicated calculations in Access and would reallly appreciate any suggestions you guys could give me.
I tried to attatch the database but its 508kb so if anyone has a spare second and wants to check it out heres the link http://www.jeron.co.uk/Products.zip
My table has 3 fields, Employee Number (text), Job Description (text) and Current (yes/no). The table keeps track of the Job Descriptions that an Employee has had along with his current Job Description (actually Title is more appropriate a word but client requested Description) So the table has records such as:
0001 - Floor Sweeping - no 0001 - Ceiling Cleaning - yes 0001 - Dumpster Turning - no
The yes signifies that that is the current Job Description for employee #0001 and the others with no are previous Job Descriptions that the employee #0001 has held.
Now - I created a form to add these records to the table and on that form I want a list box to show the records in the table for this employee but I want to sort it such that the current Job Description is listed first and the rest show up in alphabetical order following. I have the query to list all of the Description, but how can I get the current one to always appear on the top of the list?
I want to calculate the average of 16 anodes from text box into the "average drop" box and simultaneously want the data to be saved in the table too as one of the fields. Also, How to load form view while the database loads?
I have 2 databases with the same structure, but different data.
I want to put all the data in 1 database.
The problem is that the most important table (clients)has an autonumeric id field, that is used to link the records to the fields of many other tables; so, I cannot delete or change that field without losing connections.
I was wondering if it's possible to link a label on a form so that it automatically displays the contents of a field in a corresponding record?
eg I have a form for the rental of DVDs. On the form is a Text box labeled "RentalID", one for the "MemberID", both from my table "tbl_Rental". Below is the contents of a table displaying the dvds rented out for that rentalID. Is it possible to have a label or a piece of text that automatically displays the calculated field from a query that has that member's fullname in it?
I previously used an older Access version under XP, but I switched to Windows 7 (64-bit) and Access V10. In general, most everything appears to work as expected, but I can't be sure because I have not gotten past the "previously simple" task of making a simple label !!!!
When I construct a LABEL layout, if I use ONLY one field per line, everything appears to work OK.When I put MORE than one field per line, the additional lines are "accepted", but when I click "finished" to preview the finished labels, I get an #error on every line that has more than one field, but the lines with only one field print out as expected. If I then go into the DESIGN mode, each line with more than one field displays:
=Trim([field-x] & " " & [field-z]), where the " " is related to the space I place between field-x and field-z.
During this process I also get a box with the message "Enter Parameter Value", and below that is the text, "Trim", with a box in which to insert some kind of "parameter". I have absolutely no clew what to put into the "box", and no where in the 812 page, "The Missing Manual" is the question answered.I have wasted approximately five hours trying to solve this issue, including google searches for potential answers, some of which seem reasonable, but do not work when implemented. At this point I am ready to trash ACCESS and move on to some other process.
I am working with an orders database and want to build a mailing label query that will not print duplicate labels. In the query I have the customer address book and the orders table. I know how to create the query to filter the year I want but how do I add the customer information as to not duplicate the customers and waste labels?
Example:
Order Date Year: ([Order Date]) Last Name Orders Addressbook
I want to be able to bring up all sales for 2014 but have no duplicate last names.
I have a query that returns several records, typically 1 to 5. I need to print a label for each record returned by the query. Printing a label is no problem, but how do I print sequentally for each record in the query?
I have one field in my table "Id". Here I have inputed 16 digit number always. Can I print out every digit with different text box or label in my report?
