Queries :: Query Calculation Based On Current Time

Apr 24, 2013

I have a database that has 2 forms. After submitting the first form, the user should complete the second form within 24 hours. The first form stores the Date/Time the form was submitted. I want to be able to run a query and have a column in the query that is "Time Remaining". In non-technical terms, this column would be: Date/Time form submitted + 24 hours - Current date/time.

Queries :: Time Calculation Using Current Time?

Oct 9, 2014

I need a Select Query to display data on a form. When an order is appended to my table the field named Printed is updated with the time it was appended. When my form opens it needs to display the field Printed and a field I call MinutesFromPrint. This field needs to display the total minutes elapsed from the time in the Printed field to the current time. My expression is not working.

MinutesFromPrint: DateDiff("n",[Printed],Now())

Here are a couple of samples of my results when I run the query at 7:49 A.M.:

Printed MinutesFromPrint
2:35 60366554
5:07 60366402

Queries :: Time Calculation Query

Aug 6, 2014

I am needing a query to calculate elapsed time in business hours for each record selected (I normally base this on a date range). For the purposes of this query, business hours are defined as Mon-Fri from 7 AM until 9 PM.

So for example:

With a start time of 6:45 AM and an end time of 9 AM, the query would need to return 02:00 (in [h]:mm format).Likewise, with a start time of 7 AM and end time of 9 AM the query would also return 02:00.Is there any way to do this easily? Or at all for that matter? Is it possible to deal with weekends?

Forms :: Automate Combobox Selection Based On Current Time

May 26, 2015

I have a form with continuous sub form.

The main form contains a combobox, populated from a query which pulls in specific data (time) from a table

The subform is linked to the combo box on the main form. Based on the combobox selection, the subform updates with associated records with the combobox selection

I would like to add additional functionality in the form load event, that would read the current time and identify the nearest value in my combobox.

I have tested the code below behind a button and it works

If Time() > "13.00:00" And Time() < "14:30:00" Then
MsgBox "The Time is " & Time()
cboPricingCADeadline.Value = "14:30:00"
Else
cboPricingCADeadline.Value = "NA"
End If

Would a loop through the recordset of the Combobox be best used here? Set the first and second values of the recordset to variables, query the time and then return the value if statement is true, or move to the next record in the rs replacing the first and second variable values

eg
If value1 > time() and value 1 < value2 then
cboPricingCADeadline.Value = value1
end if

If this is a good lead, how do I go about setting up my recordset?

Queries :: Date Time Calculation From Strings

Oct 9, 2014

I have four columns: date1, time1, date2, time2. All are strings.I want to concatenate date1 & time1. Then date2 & time2.Then I want to do the following calculation and the answer to expressed as number of days:

datetime2 - datetime1.

I am using MS Access 2007 and the results are being grouped by a different variable. Ideally I want to complete this action as one complete statement in the SELECT statement of my query. This is very easy to do in Excel but I'm baffled by MS Access!

Queries :: Time Series Calculation In Access?

May 23, 2013

Let's say that you have a cookie jar that's to be shared with two children, let's call them Jack and Jill.

You know that to start with (t = 0), there are 100 cookies in the cookie jar

Now the strange thing about Jack and Jill is that they start eating cookies on different days and that their cookie appetite depends on the number of cookies in the jar when they start, Specifically

Jack has an appetite of 10% of the total cookie jar and he starts eating on day one.

Jill eats after Jack and she has an appetite of 5% of the jar.

So what this would look like is:

Day 0 - Cookie Jar has 100 cookies
Day 1 - Jack eats, Cookie Jar has 100 - 100(10%) = 90 cookies
Day 2 - Jill eats, Cookie Jar has 90 - 90(5%) = 85.5

Problem:

1. Given that I have a table containing the starting number of cookies e.g.:

CookieTable
Startingcookies
100

2. Given that I have a table containing a record for Jack and a record for Jill, each with two fields: Eating Start date, Appetite % e.g.:

AppetiteTable
Child, EatingDay, Appetite%
Jack, 1, 10%
Jill, 2, 5%

What will the query look like that:

1. Calculate the number of cookies in the cookie jar over time e.g.

Day 0, Day 1, Day 2
100, 90, 85.5

2. Calculate the total number of cookies eaten by Jack and Jill e.g.

Child, Cookies Eaten
Jack, 10
Jill, 4.5

Queries :: Show Data - Query Based On User Selected Time And Date Range

May 17, 2013

I have a form that request information from the user (StartDate, StartTime, EndDate and EndTime) the problem is that it's not working. The only way I can get any data to show is when I remove the StartTime and EndTime. Only then will it pull the items from the StartDate and EndDate.

Here is what I have as my criteria: Between [Forms]![OpPROD_ALL]![StartTime] And [Forms]![ OpPROD_ALL]![EndTime] And Between [Forms]![ OpPROD_ALL]![StartDate] And [Forms]![ OpPROD_ALL]![EndDate]

The users will be able to request a report based on a start and end date along with a start time and end time.

Side note: this is to pull date for 3rd shift (Example) 4/14/2013 10:00PM - 4/15/2013 10PM

Queries :: Calculate New Fields Based On Current And Prior Year-end Numbers

May 6, 2013

CHG_IN_PGM_RATE: IIf(([P0_10 Tbl - AM PYE PTD Detail w Rates]![PTD_PYE_PGM_RATE]) Is Null,([MASTER LIST CURRENT]![PTD_PM_PGM_RATE]),(([MASTER LIST CURRENT]![PTD_PM_PGM_RATE])-([P0_10 Tbl - AM PYE PTD Detail w Rates]![PTD_PYE_PGM_RATE])))

However, when running the query, I get the attached error message.

The screenshot will also show how the two tables are joined.

Query Based On Current Record

Aug 23, 2007

I am designing a contact management system and have hit a bit of a wall. I am farily new to Access so please advise if I am going about this the totally wrong way.

I have three tables; Contacts, Companies, Company_Addresses

Contacts:
ContactID (P)
CompanyID
OfficeName

Companies:
CompanyID (P)

Company_Addresses:
CompanyID
OfficeName (P)

What I want is when adding a contact, to have a drop down list in the CompanyID field showing all the companies in the Companies table, and then in the OfficeName field, have a list of only the offices related to the company selected in the previous field.

I can do the first list, but cant work out how to list only data related to the company selected in the previous field. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

Thanks. James

Query Based On Current Month

Dec 9, 2004

I am looking at creating a query which would report whether a specific field is yes/no. However, I would like it to based on that days specific month. For example, I have 12 check box fields, one for each month, and I would like to create a report where it would look up whether or not the current month has a check box in it. Additionally, I would like to create another where the criteria would require me to put in a month to search for. For example, to search to see whether or not december has been checked.

What I want to be able to do is run a query that gives us deductions for breaks based on a few values.

I would need it to deduct 0.75 hours from any shift longer than 6 hours where the person clocked in between 8.30am and 12.50pm

I would need to deduct 0.5 hours from any shift longer than 6 hours where the person clocked in between 12.51pm and 5.31pm

and To deduct 1.25 hours from any shift over 12 hours which cancels out the above.

I have uploaded the database ....

Query Based On Current Record Selection

Jan 8, 2006

right, struggling here.
Basically I have continuous form listing all the standard letters sent out when I double click on a letter, I need to to run a query for me. The code I have put behind the button is:
If ([StandardLetterType] = "Homework") Then
DoCmd.OpenQuery ("qryHomeworkClearMailMerge")
DoCmd.OpenQuery ("MergeHomework"), , , , , acDialog, Me.[StandardLetterID]
DoCmd.OpenReport ("rptHomework"), acViewPreview
Else
'
end if

and in the query I am first clearing the mailmerge yes/no field out which works fine and then running the merge to put the yes back in the current record so the query looks like this

Its an update query with update to yes for mailmerge and under the standard letter ID i have the criteria [Me].[OpenArgs]

is this completely wrong tried the [Forms!][frmFullStudentReport].[standardletterID] but it kept popping the box up asking for the number.

On the form I have the standardletterID and its hidden but there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Queries :: Calculation Based On Values Selected In Table By Looking Up Corresponding Values In Other Tables

Aug 29, 2014

I'm using Access 2010. I need to calculate a score based on values selected in a table by looking up corresponding values in other tables. I have a "Project" form to create new entries into the Project table (see Table 1). When I create a new project record, I will select values for the Payback and Need fields by selecting options from a list. The Payback list is pointed at Table 2 and the Need list is pointed at Table 3. In the below example, I created the "ABC" project and selected "1 year" for the Payback field and "Repair" for the Need field. Pretty simple.

Now that I have the "ABC" project loaded to my Project table, I'd like to create a report that will show a "score" for this project. The score should be calculated as follows: Payback Impact + Need Impact. In this example, the score should be 30 (Payback Impact of 20 + Need Impact of 10).

Queries :: Attributing Week To Date / Time Based On Specific Range

Aug 21, 2013

I have a weekly list of transactions that come in the format DD/MM/YYYY HH:MM:SS, I need to tag these individual transactions with a week number. The problem is, I can't use the Datepart function etc. as the day is classed as running from 8am to 8am rather than midnight. I have a list of all of the weekly date ranges for a few years (with the time) so I was able to solve this problem in excel by using the Index and Match functions. However, I'm trying to automate this process as much as possible so I'd rather perform this function in Access.

Queries :: Tracking Time Spent On Customers Records Based On Date Of Entry

Apr 17, 2014

I have two tables, One table containes customer name, etc., tblcustomers the other table contains the tbltimelog, log of activity start time end time. No issues. I want to generate a form based on the dateofentry for the time record. I am not able to get a summary lets say I spent 20 hours on ABC and 20 hours on CBS. If I spent 3 different days on ABC and 6 different days on CBS it will not add them together it will list it ABC 3 times and CBS 6 times. I have tried the distinct function but it doesn't work because the date is distinct. Is there a way to do this as an SQL or whatever. Thinking I could just create a new table and calculating the totals but that seems to be a waste.

Queries :: Cancel Age Calculation Query For One Record

Mar 26, 2013

I have the following age calculation query:

Age: (Now()-[DOB])365

It works a treat! However, I do not want this to continue to calculate if the record has them as deceased - I want it to stop at their date of death.

I have a tick box that when selected indicates that this record has died, and a field where you can enter date of death.

Is there some way that via clicking this button, or by entering a date of death, I can stop the Age Query from calculating for just that relevant record, not all of them? If so, where to place the necessary VBA, etc?
