I created a query and one of the fields was "name". In the query it listed the names and then changed to the ID number of the names from the name table. The query was created using the wizard. Why did the query change to the ID number mid report and how do I get it to report only the names and not the ID number.
I have some queries that pull data from one table and other queries that pull data from two related tables. In both cases, how do I prevent the data from being changed after the queries results are displayed? I know I could make a form and lock each field so it couldn't be changed, but I was hoping to avoid having to do that.
I work with access web database. In access web aggregate functions are disabled in query design. So I made a query in client and i thought then i can insert this data to another web table. but i don't know how to update this table.
Because the source table of the query is also updated.
I upload the database with a table in it and a query. I want to add the data of this query to another web table....
I need to produce a Data Integrity report that lists the users of a separate database and the count of errors that they make, separated by error type.
Currently my query displays all the users who made errors, and the total errors they made. But I don't want the total - I want to break this number down by the types of errors that are made.
I modified the SQL to make it easier to read. How can I take the below statement and make a few expressions that count up the specific values? The field I need to dissect is "Type Error" and a couple of examples of error types are "A1" and "B1"
Code: SELECT DISTINCTROW [Errors Table].User, Count([Errors Table].[Type Error]) AS [Errors] FROM [Errors Table] INNER JOIN [Workcenter Profiles] ON [Errors Table].PWC = [Workcenter Profiles].PWC WHERE ((([Errors Table].[Review Status])="Error Corrected")) OR ((([Errors Table].[Review Status])="Error Not Corrected")) OR ((([Errors Table].[Review Status])="Error Not Correctable ")) GROUP BY [Errors Table].User ORDER BY [Errors Table].User;
I've seen it done with multiple queries joined together, but I'd like to avoid that if possible...
I've got a problem in my access 2007 database. In my office, I have to print invoice reports on pre-ready papers. So the place of every printed object should be fixed. my problem is that whenever the list of sales icons increases or decreases in Detail section of report, the location of total part in report footer goes up or down. I want this location to be immobile and not changed !
Access 2007 RUNTIME.I have 2 different printers, 1 for invoices A5 & one for general use A4.
I use
[URL]
and can change printers & some stuff but can't change margins.
Is there a way to change these margins via VBA that can be set in RUNTIME.
Like now, I have just had thousands of invoices pre-printed layout but the company managed to move the margin 5mm over so I have to program my MDB reports to reflect that.
I am in major need of help. I am need Access or Excel to notify a user when a change has been made to a table. I have a potiential database/spreadsheet, and this would help me. Can anybody help me out?
I hope that someone out here can help me with this. I have recently had a format change from how I received updated data for my database. I used to update my tables from TXT files. There were several update queries/macros written to import the data from 5 or 6 different TXT files into one table. Well; my source has changed  The downside: I can only get my data from an XLS or CSV file now; but the upside is all the data is only in 1 file.
The macros/queries were written years ago and I've been having migranes trying to figure out how this was all done. So, i've sort of started from scratch. I can easily import the data into a table; I have even gotten our front end of the database working so it's just a click of the mouse again.
The problem I have is that the data that is in this table is linked everywhere throughout this spiderweb of a database! I was unable to import my data into the existing table because that table's field names are different than what I have in the XLS file. I get all sorts of errors when I do this. So I am currently importing into a new table. (I.E. MASS and MASS Imports)
Is there an easy way to update data from table 'MASS Imports' to 'MASS' ?? what I was thinking was to use an update query with both tables and link each line.... Or am I way off base? Is there an easier way to do this?
I have a SQL database with an Access front end that keeps giving me an error "The data has been changed... another user has edited the record.I'm the only user on it, and I'm trying to edit it directly from the table. I already checked my indexes and changed all the bits to ints.
A form displays information on a construction site in various text boxes. I want to enable the user to change this information but not until a save button is pressed.
Now I have the problem that as soon as I change the value of a text box, the data in the database is updated.
Is there a way to prevent these updates but still get the text fields to be linked to the attributes of a table?
Using a database 2010. I have a monthly import from a spreadsheet to one of my tables. Sometimes it has the same previous data from prior month or months that has not changed. I don't want to keep appending this data to my table if none of the fields have changed.
Is there a way to append data to table only if fields have changed in an append query? Ex. (Name, Address, PhoneNum, Rate) If all fields are the same; don't append. If one or more fields are changed; append.
I have a query question . How can I extract a CHANGED value" in a column? Example here under table1. Time and TAG makes a record unique, No ID available ...
I want to have as output 10:04 Tag2 12 10:07 Tag1 11 10:08 Tag2 11 (so at 10:04 tag 2 changed in value and on 10:07 tag1 changed value and 10:08 changed Tag2)
Preferably with the previous value as well, but this is not the highest prio 10:04 Tag2 12 11 10:07 Tag1 11 10 10:08 Tag2 11 12
I have a form that has number entries. I changed the Default Value for these numbers to Null because I dont want 0s (they aren't being used for numeric calculations, they just hold a number). I want there to be nothing in the input field until I put it there.
My problem is, when I start to enter info into my form, access automatically places 0s into all my number entries! Is there a way to avoid this? Or should I just make the fields text instead?
I 'm downloading the excel data from the site and connecting it to access.
In excel the particular column (Time Taken) is in the format of "00:12:26".
After connecting it to access and appending it to the table, the format changed to "12:12:26", the first two digits changed to "12" and the remaining are as it is how it looks like in the excel. I need to change it to format what it looks like in the excel.
I have a three-column query that tells me how many hours I have available per week for a given resource type (e.g. welders). I have a second three-column query that tells me how many hours of work I have planned per week for a given resource type.I'm hoping to produce a query (the source for a report) that will show resource types in rows and twelve months in 24 columns. the first column for each month will show how many hours I have available for all my resources, the second column for each month will show how many hours I have allocated.
How do I produce a query that will combine the other two queries, inserting zeroes where necessary considering that for any given week I might have allocated work to a resource that isn't available (because the inconsiderate buggers think they are entitled to holiday) or I might have a resource that has no work allocated (because I'm incompetent)?
Hi all, let me start by saying that i am not that experienced with access but find it really enjoyable and want to learn more. i dont always understand or use the right "jargon" but here goes. i have a db with 3 main tables, each table has the same layout and info inputed into it (ie, name, address, product, ref no. etc.). from each table i can print a sales reciept with all of the relevent info on it. i also print a sheet (report) with the customer names & addresses on it, used as the postal labels. i currently print 3 postal label sheets, 1 for each table. what i would like to do is print just the one report but taking the name & address data from all 3 tables. would really, really, really, really appreciate any help on this as it is beginning to frustrate me, and waste a lot of paper !!.
i'm using access from microsoft office professional plus 2007.
I want a Text Box Query on my form to display the Status, Workshop, Time, Enrolled and Limit. The problem is these values come from two different tables and the Enrolled value comes from a single field that contains the different workshops.
What I mean is: In Table[Attendees] a row contains a customer's Number, First Name, Last Name, Workshop and Phone Number. The workshops vary for each customer so one row on the table could have John Doe attending Cover Letter Writing and the next row could have John Smith attending Resume Writing. What I want is to be able to count the different workshops within the Field[Workshop] and total them and then display the total in a Text Box Query. I have a Text Box Query set up displaying Status, Workshop, Time and Limit as these values all come from Table[Workshops].
So basically I need to Query to also display a result that is the Total for each workshop from Table[Attendees] and display the total for each workshop in a Query with data from Table[Workshops].
Here is a link to an Example Database [URL] ....
I'm trying to avoid putting things on different reports and the like because the people using this are basically computer illiterate and if they have to click a button (no matter how well labeled) they won't do it and the information might as well not exist.
And if there's a better way to do it, I'm all ears. The only thing is, I have to update these workshops month by month. Since they are dynamic, I want to avoid creating separate tables for each workshop.
I am importing the updated Employee Roster information from Excel to a table called "Weekly Roster Check" (contains new info). I have a table called "Current Chit Board" that has an Employee Roster that I update every week (contains old info). I want a query to find employees who are promoted and their title has changed. then I want to run an update query to update these results to the Current Chit Board table.
Every method I try, returns either no information or information that is not what I want.
I'm using Access 2010. I have a report that summarises students and the number of courses they are attending after a set date. My query lists name, course date, course description, the count being on the course description. I thought it was working until I noticed that students are listed twice if they attended courses on two separate days.
For example Liz 4 Liz 3 instead of Liz 7
I have moved the count to other fields but it then doesn't show any students at all when I run the query.
I am trying to create a form to enter data into a table that I ultimately will create a report from. I have created a blank table with the columns I need. I created an append query to add the new records and an update query and a macro to run them on click of a button. It all runs but it doesn't append anything to the table. What am I doing wrong?
I have a form. On the form I have a button to run a report. The query associated with the report selects all records within a unit (field name (Unit) is used as the selection criteria).Rather than type in the unit name when the report is run, I want to select the unit that is currently shown on the form.
