I have a text field that contains a comma delimited list of numbers.

I am trying to read one of these numbers from OLEDB through to an access database.

I am trying to do the following:

SELECT SPLIT(CSVData, ValueNo) as ReturnValue FROM MyCSVDataTable

Where CSVData is a split field containing values like "123,234,345,..." and ValueNo is a value to identify which one i want.

Any way of achieving this using the standard SQL functions. I am reading the data via OleDB and therefore cannot use a user defined VBA function?

Queries :: Text Box Values Used In Query Contain Brackets

I have a query which uses values in two hidden text boxes, in order to populate a sub form.Unfortunately some times the data in the text box contains brackets within it as follows:

'120/60 ZR17 (55W)'

When this occurs the query returns no data, even though records with a matching code exists in the table I am working with where Speed is 'FR'.

Code:
WHERE (((stockdyn.SPEED)="FR") AND ((stockdyn.DESCRIPN) Like '*' & [forms]![frmSearch]![Text10] & '*'))

How can I get around this, as surely if I used quote marks it would take "[forms]![frmSearch]![Text10]" as the value I am searching for.

Reading Values From A SubForm

Hi guys, Im working on a DatABase at the mo that is heavily featured around forms - the problem is I dont have a clue about how the code side of it is structured in access. I know a lot about visual basic, and I've been having pot shots at how to do this, but with no success...

How do I read the value of an object from a subform with macros? Lets say on my main form I have a textbox called 'ExampleTXT' - to read a value from the text box would be simple...

Code:msgbox Me.ExampleTXT

but on this form I also have a subform, which contains an array of textboxes (they link to a seperate table, so there can be any number of these textboxes) and they have the name 'ExampleARR'. How do I read the values from these? I have tried the following code (like I siad, these are random stabs in the dark) but I have had no success...

Code:msgbox Me.ExampleARR--msgbox Me.ExampleARR(0)--msgbox Me.SubFrm.ExampleARR(0)

Problem With Reading Values Between Forms

I´m new to to Access databases, so if you experties who write a solution back will keep that in mind :o

I have a mainform "frmBygninger_input" and in that form a combobox "cboParent".

In the mainform is a subformular "ufrmlDFMnøgletal", with a textbox "cboChild"

When I have choosen a value from that "cboParent", I want "cboChild" to read that values from "cboParent"

What is that I have to do?

I am working on setting up a Document Control System and have a table, called List_of_SOP where I have, amongst others, the following fields:

- Document Title
- Document Number (unique identifier)
- Responsible
- DL (where this is a multiline lookup column where one ticks the names of the people to whom this document needs to be distributed)

I want to be able to fill an array with the checked values of the DL field, given a particular Document Number. So far, the code is somewhat on these lines:

If To Only DCount A Box With Values Inside

I've been trying to figure out but can't come up with the proper expression or code to do what i want to.

basically when I focus on a field I want it to first check if there is any data/value in it and onyl do a DCount if there is and otherwise not (IE if the field is null skip the DCount)

I figured it would be similar to IF [Host] = 'NULL' THEN (Nothing here) ELSE (DCOUNT here)

But each time I try i get a syntax error, could anyone shed light on what is the proper code for such a thing?

adding a date stamp on each line inside a text box when the form is opened. i've managed to add this expression to the text on got focus

This every time adds the date stamp to the first line of the text box and not below the sentence or next line.

In order to perform conflict searches in my Access 2007 database, you enter a bunch of information and then receive a report of cases with similar information in order to avoid any conflicts of interest.One of the fields is "Date of Accident". Currently I have its format set as yyyy/mm/dd. However, my expression

returns nothing (if I look at the query in Datasheet the column is blank).I found a fix for getting it to appear by removing the format on Date of Accident, however, my query doesn't retrieve cases with matching dates (the dates are formatted to dddd, mmmm dd, yyyy as a Date/Time Data Type).Is there any way I can get the query to both return the date searched, AND retrieve matching cases?

I'm trying to determine the SQL to return only those records in a table which have duplicate values in each of two fields, but different values in a third field. Here's an example:

A123 Grape Fruit
A456 Potato Vegetable
A456 Potato Perishable
A789 Carrot Vegetable
A001 Banana Fruit

For the above table, I'm trying to return records which have multiple entries for AcctNum + FoodType, but DIFFERENT values for FoodClass. So for the above table, the query would return:

AcctNum FoodType FoodClass
------- -------- ---------
A456 Potato Vegetable
A456 Potato Perishable

It returns these two records because there is more than one record with for the AcctNum + FoodType (i.e. 'A456' + 'Potato'), but DIFFERENT values for FoodClass (i.e. one record has 'Vegetable' while the other has 'Perishable').

I am working on an MSACCESS database that reads data from SQL Server through ODBC Connection.

I have multiple tables that I have linked in and created Queries that read the data and created Make Table query.

However, I am asking if there's a way to bring the data through a query that doesn't need the linked tables. Is there a way to bring different fields from different tables into one query without needing to import all the tables, since the tables have many fields that I don't need.

For example in MS Excel, I am able to do that, a query that will bring external data from SQL Server from different tables and only brings the fields that I need for my report.

Queries :: Counting Text Values Based On Their Status

I have a question regarding counting of text values base on their status and using that result to a calculation.

Say, I have a table of Demand of Positions, wherein, I have a specific Job Title for a certain Department that have number of workers needed (demand quantity) and a table of candidates for that job title and their status, say, Arrived, Visa Processing, Visa Applied, Visa Issued, and With Ticket.

What I would want is to make a summary out of the two tables, where the query will count how many candidates are there in that specific job title and have a field of status say, field of Count of Arrived, Count of Visa Processing and etc., and a field where I can add all of the count of candidates per status and deduct the result to the demand quantity where that field would be named Balance.

The problem is that the status varies on every candidate on that specific job title because the status field is used to track the progress of each candidate and this scenario will make the query blank because there would be no such record due to their status.

I tried making a summary following my requirement and you will see that in the attached file together with the SQL code of that query that the balance field value is blank.

I have a sql to run and I have to use many values as parameters (over 1000), which is why I am trying to use a SQL inside a IN condition.

I am testing the sql with only 1 value for now. The parameter I am using will be 2208287. This returns in a matter of seconds.

but it does not work when I add a sql inside the IN condition. It actually runs forever and eventually I have to break it to stop. why this is not working with a sql inside a IN condition.

table CopyOfdata is a local table (This is where I will put all of my values to act as parameters)

General :: Summary Form / Home Page - Text Boxes Values From Multiple Queries

I am currently developing a database to provide a friend with an auction tracking and ordering system.

I will have a number of questions the first is related to the Home Page/Dashboard/Summary form I am creating. I basically have a few sections, one of which is a combo box offering the user to select an auction to view in the summary section. This summary section contains the list of lots but I also hope to to expand on this and create multiple text boxes, each containing the answer to a number of queries (totals etc).

I have written all the queries and can see the results however as the form does not have a record source I would like to know how to make each text box populate with the result of different queries (ideally in vb - I am using ms access 2010)?

I have tried a few things, control source doesn't apply as I have no record source (i guess). I investigated Dlookup/Dcount but am unsure if these apply for the same reason. I understand I am likely to need a recordset etc in vb and have already tried a few things but unfortunately none of them work.

Crosstab Query With TEXT Values?

This is almost a cross-forum post. I started a post in the reports forum to see if it were possible to sort/group the data by field values. Everyone knows this can be done row-by-row, but I was looking for a way to do it horizontally as well.

It should look something like that where the years are values of [year] field and the seasonal quarters are values of [quarter] field.

I have been searching for something that will help me do this when I ran across information on the "crosstab" query. This, in principal is what I am looking for BUT I am not dealing with numeric data here. Is there still a away to make a crosstab query/report with text fields where there would normally be numeric data?

Including a record that's inside an excluded range.

I have a table with record numbers from 1 to 91599. I want to exclude records from 91011 to 91599 but I don't want to exclude record 91102.

How do exclude a record that is included in the excluded range?

I could write two queries the first will excludes 91011 to 91101 and the second excludes 91103 to 91599. Is this the only way?

Getting Value Of Field Inside Query Results

Not sure where to start here, I have a subform which spits out query results. Next to the SERIAL field in each record I have a button (ADDSN). On my main form I have a listbox (SNLIST). I want to be able to click the button and have the associated SERIAL field be added to the listbox. I know how to add data to a listbox but I do not know how to add the data from a certain field selected records. How do I access this information?

Forms :: Default Values Disappear If Put Values In Text Boxes

In Access 2010 I have a Data Entry Form on which I have an unbound textbox in the header that the user can put a default date in. In the body of the form is a bound textbox that records the date and the default value is set as =defaultdatestat (obviously the name of the box in the header).

Problem: The default date shows up perfectly until a value is put in any of the other text boxes.

For further info : If you put values in text boxes default value disappears; if you then push escape the default value reappears when the values in the text boxes disappear.

Fields "Cust no", "Inv no" and "T no" are in Text format, whereas "Date" and "Amt" are in Number.

My question: how can I concatenate row values using a query. The query results that I wanted are as follows:
