Queries :: Report Or Macro To Run Multiple Queries Using Same Parameters?

Aug 9, 2013

So I run cash flow for a business, and we export data from Oracle and insert it into an access database. I have to run about 25 queries, entering in the same parameters for each. We number each week of the year. So for say the first week in January, I would run the first query and it asks: Beginning Week, I enter in 1, then another paramter value asks me the ending week. I have to enter in these parameters for each of the 25 or so queries, and it becomes quite irritating. Each query has a number of columns, but I am only interested in obtaining the sum of one of the columns, titled Distribution amount. So I am looking for something that will run each of my specified queries, then spit out the total of the distribution column for each in a table like.

Query 1: Total Distribution
Query 2: Total Distribution
etc....

Is there anything that would allow me to do this, with entering in the week parameter once, say week 1 start, week 1 end. and it use those same parameters for each query?

Single Set Of Parameters For Multiple Queries In A Report?

Oct 21, 2004

I'm pretty new to Access, so if I'm doing this the hard way, that's why.

I work in a quality control position, and I'm trying to set up a single Access database for the QC staff to use instead of everyone having their own seperate Excel workbooks.

The issue I'm running into at the moment is on a report. Each record is graded on four seperate types of criteria, Error Type 1, Error Type 2, Error Type 3 and Error Type 4, all of which need to be reported on seperately. So I have at least four queries set up, all with the same parameters (right now, just review date.) I'm trying to pull through all four queries on the same report, and so far I've had success having the report ask for the parameters only once and then applying it to all four queries. However, I'm running into a problem where Access is now forcing the filters of each individual query on to each of the other three queries, so it's only pulling through records for all four queries that match the criteria of all four. Any record which only matches the criteria of one, two or three of the queries is being left off the report.

Sorry if this sounds confusing. Anyone have an idea as to what I'm doing wrong?

Queries :: Get Contacts On Report That Match Parameters Inputted Into Box

Jun 19, 2013

I very new to Access. I am using the Contact Database template from MS and added a field of text. I am trying to get a query to search the field for partial text. I've typed the following parameter to narrow it down because I only need partial information:

Like "*" & [How are the contacts involved in Organization?] & "*"

I used the query builder off of a report that was already created. I just want to be able to get contacts on the report that match the parameters inputted into the box.

When I run the report it gives me the following error:"You either have an error in your expression or you have attempted to use an undeclared parameter. Check the expression for errors or enter the parameter '[How are the contacts involved in Organization?]' in the Query Parameters dialog."I hit OK and it pulls up the report without data filled in.

Suppressing Dialog On Multiple Append And Delete Queries In A Macro

Aug 19, 2004

I have a macro setup that deletes all the records in 2 different tables, then using about 8 queries, appends several records to the two tables where data was deleted. When these macros run, several Yes/No/Cancel dialog boxes come up for each query, first asking you if you are sure you want to do this, that it is going to change data in my table, and then second telling me how many records it's going to append or delete.

Is there a way to make it automatically run Yes to all of these dialog boxes? That would really help out a whole lot. Of instead of that, but maybe some sort of VB code that could do all the deleting and appending without the need of the Macros, and that doesn't require user intervention. I have my Macro's setup on the "On Click" event in a form, so using VB would be no problem at all.

Any Suggestions?

Queries :: Utilization Report - Multiple Query Into One Report

Sep 2, 2014

I have a three-column query that tells me how many hours I have available per week for a given resource type (e.g. welders). I have a second three-column query that tells me how many hours of work I have planned per week for a given resource type.I'm hoping to produce a query (the source for a report) that will show resource types in rows and twelve months in 24 columns. the first column for each month will show how many hours I have available for all my resources, the second column for each month will show how many hours I have allocated.

How do I produce a query that will combine the other two queries, inserting zeroes where necessary considering that for any given week I might have allocated work to a resource that isn't available (because the inconsiderate buggers think they are entitled to holiday) or I might have a resource that has no work allocated (because I'm incompetent)?

Filtering Report (with Subreports) Using Multiple Parameters

Sep 17, 2006

hey there

i have a main PatientForm that contains patient information from multiple tables:

[GENERAL] values
Subform - [RefMD] values (referring doctor)
Subform - [Drugs] values (prescribed meds)
Subform - [Diagnosis] values (medical diagnosis)
Subform - [Encounters] values (visits to the doctor)

what i have is a form (image attached) and i need to be able to select any combination of parameters (including state, zipcode from GENERAL, i.e. referring doctor last name from RefMD, Drugname from Drugs, Diagnosisname from Diagnosis, and VisitType from Encounters) and filter PatientForm where all the selected parameters are true..

does that make sense?

all tables are linked using the field HistNum

how do i code this? i am pretty lost right now

Linking Multiple Queries In A Report

Mar 20, 2008

Hi

I am very new to Access and have been building a database from scratch. It is for inventory management and I have a number of tables, particularly:
1. Stock List
2. Orders (stock coming in)
3. Requisitions (stock going out)

I have created Select Queries for the Orders and Requisitions tables to sum the totals in these tables (i.e. the total number of Pens coming in from all of the orders etc.). These are called StockOrderTotal and StockRequisitionTotal.

I am trying to create a query/report that will allow me list all of the Stock items and the current balance (i.e Orders minus Requisitions) for each item. However, once I add the two queries together (StockOrderTotal and StockRequisitionTotal) the final query/report only lists stock items that are found in both of the underlying tables.

Is there any way that I can tell the query to return all stock items and only list the Order and/or Requisition totals that are in the underlying tables? Sort of like an 'if' statement in Excel, where the value returned will be zero if that particular stock item is not found in the Orders or Requisition tables?

Thanks
Rich

Reports :: Multiple Queries Into One Report

Jun 18, 2013

We have a database that has around 30 queries that are ran on a monthly basis. They all have unique criteria (but there is a crossover of fields that are used), and are all set up so they show only the previous month's data (the date is taken from one date field for some queries, and another date field for others).

We run the queries, and only need the 'count' of number of records that fit the query each month.I was wondering if it is possible to create a report that will run the queries simultaneously, and show the 'count' of the query results in predetermined fields.

Obtaining Multiple Report Parameters Via Menu Form Lookup Control

Feb 11, 2015

In our Student Administration database, we have a Student Evaluation Report which prints a 1 page per student report in memo like format. The instructor had previously input rating numbers (4=Best, 1=Worst) for 9 categories for each student via a database form into the Evaluations Table.

Two other elements of the rating are an Attendance based on number of days absent and a Grade Point Average (GPA) calculated from the student's test scores. The instructor then prints and reviews the report with each student.

There is an Evaluations Parameter table which has the following fields:

Field
Description

ID
The autonum key field.

Class
eg., 2015-1

Evaluation Number
A single digit (eg., 1, 2). There may be more than 1 evaluation for each class.

EffectiveDate
The "as of" date of the evaluation.

There are then several other tables that are input to a query that will be the record source for the report:

Table
Purpose/Data

Students
Student Name, Class

Absence
Has a record for each student's absence with date and a 1 or .5 indicating a whole or half day absent.

Test Grades
Has a record with each student's test results with date and score.

Evaluations
Holds the rating score for each of the 9 rating categories.

The Student Evaluation report is launched from an unbound Reports menu form via a button. On the Reports menu form I wish to have controls for the user to select which evaluation to report on. The Absence and Test Grade information needs to include records that are <= the EffectiveDate in the Evaluation Parameter table. The Evaluations records need to match the Class and Evaluation Number in the Evaluations Parameter table.

I would like the user to be able to select the Evaluation Parameter via a combo box vs. specifying the Class, Evaluation Number and Effective Date separately and then have the query record source for the report use those two fields as criteria. But my limited understanding of the Combo box indicates that only 1 field from the lookup query of the Evaluations Parameter table can be stored in the control whereas I need 3 (Class Evaluation Number and EffectiveDate).

How the user can select the desired Evaluation Parameter record on the Reports menu form and use the 3 fields from the selected record as criteria in the report's record source query.

Extract / Count And Report From Multiple Queries?

May 20, 2013

I have set up a table for statistical information of students from our 8 campuses (campus, student first name last name, dob, parent info, grade, etc.). I have a query set-up for each campus.

I also have an excel spreadsheet when a student enrolls I change the number of students from each campus that are in grades 1-3, 4-6, 7-8 and 9-12.

Since I have already entered this information into my Access DB, I am wondering why do double-duty (thereby risking my forgetfulness) when I should be able to extract that information from these queries? Not sure how to do this in this grouping, per campus, giving a total count for each campus.

Queries :: Union Query - Multiple Records On One Report

May 7, 2014

I have a database that has over 20 tables in it and am using Access 2000. Unfortunately I cannot change the structure as it performs specific functions, so I am stuck with it.

I have created a Union Query from these tables yaking data from 5 fields using the Serial Number entered by the user.

SELECT[Workstation].UnitPart,PropertyTag,UnitSerial,Date,Technician
FROM[Workstation]
WHERE((([Workstation].UnitSerial)=[Enter Serial No.];
UNION
SELECT[LAPTOP].UnitPart,PropertyTag,UnitSerial,Date,Technician

[Code] ....

I use a bar code scanner to scan the serial number, and it goes through the tables and returns the results along with the other specified fields.

I would like to scan up to 16 or more different serial numbers and have it return the results. Perhaps scan the first 16 serial numbers, then run the query? Is that possible. The serial numbers are unique and will return a combination of laptops, printers, monitors, etc...

I have created a report from the above union query and it works perfectly with only one serial number entered.

Queries :: Data Integrity Report - Multiple COUNTs In Single Query

Sep 4, 2013

I need to produce a Data Integrity report that lists the users of a separate database and the count of errors that they make, separated by error type.

Currently my query displays all the users who made errors, and the total errors they made. But I don't want the total - I want to break this number down by the types of errors that are made.

I modified the SQL to make it easier to read. How can I take the below statement and make a few expressions that count up the specific values? The field I need to dissect is "Type Error" and a couple of examples of error types are "A1" and "B1"

Code:
SELECT DISTINCTROW [Errors Table].User, Count([Errors Table].[Type Error]) AS [Errors]
FROM [Errors Table] INNER JOIN [Workcenter Profiles] ON [Errors Table].PWC = [Workcenter Profiles].PWC
WHERE ((([Errors Table].[Review Status])="Error Corrected")) OR ((([Errors Table].[Review Status])="Error Not Corrected")) OR ((([Errors Table].[Review Status])="Error Not Correctable "))
GROUP BY [Errors Table].User
ORDER BY [Errors Table].User;

I've seen it done with multiple queries joined together, but I'd like to avoid that if possible...

Parameters In Queries

Aug 19, 2015

I have a report that has two sub reports. The sub reports are based on two different queries that have a parameter in each. When I run the report it prompts me to enter the two parameters for each record (there could be 30 or more records), how do I get the parameters to only ask me once and pull all records? My parameter is >[Continued ED Starting After XX/XX/XXXX] and the other parameter is >[Credits Starting After Date: XX/XX/XXXX], so I would like to just enter this information once and return all records with that criteria and not have to enter the information 30 or more times to get all records.

Help Coding Parameters For Queries

Nov 3, 2006

What I am trying to do is create 3 (or more) parameters for a query from a single table. Lets use this for example:

Table Name= "tblExample"
Field Name "A" with Perameter "1"
Field Name "B" with Perameter "2"
Field Name "C" with Perameter "3"
(All from Table= "tblExample")

My intentions are that when the query is run, the user is asked to include 3 subjects (1 subject per perameter; 3 perameters total that pop up). But I am having trouble making it so that if a random person using this query doesn't know or can't remember 1 or 2 of the subjects they are looking for, the query will just (in a sense) ignore the two blank parameters the user has left alone, and just clicked the "ok" button without entering anything, and use the 1 parameter that it was given a subject for, to filter/query out a result.

If you beleive you will have trouble explaining this to me, I'll use this as an example:

Table Name: "tblExample"
Field Name: "A" with Parameter "1"
Field Name: "B" with Parameter "2"
Field Name: "C" with Parameter "3"
(All from Table: "tblExample")

The user uses the query and is asked by the first parameter for input. The user isn't sure, and clicks ok without entering anything, and parameter 2 pops up. The user then enters a subject of which he/she knows to look for and clicks "ok". Then the final parameter asks the user for input, and the user again doesn't know, or can't remember so he/she just presses the "ok" button.
What would be the coding for this kind of parameter that if nothing is entered, the parameter is ignored?

In desperate need of assistance. Thanks in advnace

Parameters/expressions In Queries

Mar 17, 2008

Hello again,

I have a query which has a parameter called [Enter Date as DD/MM/YYYY].
This filters out records from my table which match those entered by the user.
However, when the query is run, Access is asking the user to enter the criteria twice. The first time it is labelled Expr1, the second time it is Enter Date as DD/MM/YYYY. There is obviously something wrong in my query, can anybody point me in the right direction here?

Thanks in advance;)

Queries :: Query Asking For Parameters?

Dec 1, 2013

I have a query that pulls information from two tables. Some of the fields that are being queried share the same name in the tables, [Reimbursed_Amount] and [Cancel_Fee] specifically. In Design View I have specified that I only want the query to pull these fields from the Event Information table. An error occurs when I try to run it, saying that I need to define which table the field is from in the SQL code.

But then after I added clarification in the SQL, when I run the query it now prompts for a parameter for each of these fields. Why is this happening? I leave it blank, so a parameter has no impact on the query. How can I stop this?

Here's the SQL, after I added the table clarification:

Code:
SELECT (Sum(nz([Program_Cost])+nz([Millage_Fee])+nz([Auditorium_Cost])+nz([Cancel_Fee].[Event Information])-nz([Reimbursed_Amount].[Event Information]))) AS Total_Cost, [Shared Billing Information].Paid, [Shared Billing Information].Shared_Billing_ID, [Event Information].Shared_Billing_ID
FROM [Shared Billing Information] RIGHT JOIN [Event Information] ON [Shared Billing Information].Shared_Billing_ID = [Event Information].Shared_Billing_ID

[Code] ....

Passing Parameters From Form To Queries

Good Afternoon,

I am trying to create a form where a user will enter in a value into a text field. Afterwards, when the user clicks "Enter", a query will run and will LOOK FOR THE VALUE THAT WAS ENTERED INTO THE TEXT FIELD. i.e.
User enters their address into the field and clicks the enter button.
Afterwards, a query will run like
select * from customers where address = @address <== the value the user entered into the text field. This is where the mystery lies. How do you pass values?????

Thanks,
