How I can save a Query result with a desired name. I use the following simple code.
Code:
SELECT * INTO Table
FROM Query;
Now the results will be saved in "Table" but I want acces to ask me for what to call the table when the query is runned. Is that possible with a query?
So I have this relatively simple problem: I need to create a button that once clicked will open the Save As dialog box and allow the user to save a copy of the current database where he wishes. The filename should contain todays date in DDMM format along with some pre-set text e.g. DDMM PresetText.
I'm building a query using wildcard "like". See the attached file. My question is that why doesn't the query "result" return "aaaaa" for "aaa" is contained within "aaaaa"?I'm basically limiting my records to those found in tbl_site based on a wildcard "like".
I have a table called tblObligMstr. I have a form called frmAmendRecord that is based (bound) on tblObligMstr - three of the fields are ID, IntControlNr, and Amend.
There is also a subform named tblObligMstrSubform. The Link Master and Link Child for the subform fields is IntControlNr. So the subform shows all of the records that have a specific IntControlNr. The form shows the data associated with the first record with a specific IntControlNr
Here is the problem -
The purpose of the form is to show the data for the last record (not the first) in the subform list of records. Certain data on the form can be edited, and then the edited form needs to be saved as a new record in tblObligMstr.
Hi There we have a ms access application which pools data from AS400. we have scheduled it for every week but there is a situation when its missing the data to feed the tables. but when we run the queries manually it gives the desired results. all kind of response are welcome Best danny
When I run this query, it shows that 41 records are going to be appended. I click on yes, but when I go into the table to view the appended records they do not show.
EmpName GroupNum Jon Group1 Sam Group2 Tom Group1 Bob Group1 Hal Group2 Dan Group3 Cal Group2
With sample table above, can I write a query in Access that lists the data by GroupNum based on my criteria, say Group2 1st, then Group3, then Group1? Basically, how do I make the result show:
Sam Group2 Hal Group2 Cal Group2 Dan Group3 Jon Group1 Tom Group1 Bob Group1
My database is for Records Management of HSE Files. There are tables built for each of the seperate pieces of information (example: Categories contains a code column and a description column (101 - Air Management). The Data Entry form for the Files Table requires the entry of the Category code and the Category description in order to populate the Files Table. The Labels Report pulls from the Files Table, and if both the Category code and Category description are not populated in the Files Table (which is populated from the Data Entry Form) then the Labels Report does not produce the correct information. Plus, the Catagory code column and the Category description column both have to have the code in order to have the Labels Report produce the Category description (and not the code).
As well, in my Data Entry Form I would like to only enter in '101' and have 'Air Management' automagically populate (I've done it once - but it doesn't replicate through the Database to the Files Table! And then I have to input the data directly into the Files Table to make the Labels Report produce the labels. argh!).
I am wondering - do I even need the two columns in the Files Table (Category code and Category description) or should I just have the one (Category code) and somehow build the Labels report to replace the Category code with the Category description - and would that have something to do with the bound columns?
 I've been pulling out my hair on this for a while, but as I have more and more files to enter into the database, I'm not so intersted in entering in data twice!
I created a subform that displays the records of a select query after selecting the desired data from a single combo box (for instructors name) and then using an OpenQuery macro attached to a button.
Only 1 record is displayed in the subform each time I hit the button. If I look at the query return there is no change. However, if I close the query and select a new instructors name, although I only get one record in the subform, the query when opened shows all the correct records.
A2010 - on an existing form I have a few controls that I want to hightlight. I thought I would create a rectangle covering only the desired controls and then make the back colour a light grey. But if I do then I cannot see the controls. If I change the back style to transparent then the colour reverts to nothing and I'm back to square one.
It feels like I want to bring the existing controls to the font - but how?If I create new controls on an existing grey rectangle then it works fine.
My query lists duplicate records which I append to a new table. from that table I would like to delete the duplicates but save the first record of each duplicate. example the fields are employee and date worked. I would like to keep joe smith 1/1/14 but delete the other joe smith 1/2/14 and joe smith 1/3/14 ...
I have created several "pass through" queries in the last several years. However, Is it possible to run an SQL Procedure as a Pass Through Query. The procedure they want to run is set up to run a query, save the results to a server, and then run another query based on the saved data. I can get both queries to run as pass through queries, but I can't figure out how to save the data on the server. Is there a way to accomplish this? Can SQL procedures be run via Access?
We import data to a table on a weekly basis. We delete the table and replace the data. Most of the data is the same. It's date's, group names, ...
Now we would like to save the weekly table and add a saved date. Then we would like a query that puts all the saved tables together and that we could filter.
For example. A team is planned to do a work on 01/01/13. The next week it has changed to 07/01/13. So the data in the table it updated but we can't track the changed date. If we had the different tables we could filter that team and so that the work was originaly planned on date x to be done on the 01/01/13, on date y it was 07/01/13....
Of course if we would save the complete table every time it would mean a lot of useless data that hasn't changed. So a better solution would be that a query could see which data has changed and it only saved those lines on that date.
Periodoically, the "Save Changes?" warning that pops when closing a query whose design has changed stops popping up, and the changes are automatically saved. I've tried going into the immediate window to change SetWarnings to True, but that doesn't fix the issue. (Further, I've scoured my code for instances of "DoCmd.SetWarnings False" to make sure that they are always followed by a "Docmd.SetWarnings True" in the Exit lines.
I've tried searching a number of different sights, and all I can find are instances of people talking about wanting to disable the Query Action warnings, which I don't want to do. I just want to be able to fiddle with queries, but then close them without saving in case I butcher something. I could create a copy of the query and fiddle with that, but I shouldn't have to...
I have a few selected reports on an Access 2007 database that users can run. Is there a way for users to view the report, save as a PDF and automatically save a copy to a shared drive by modules/vba coding as an On Click event procedure?
I have a database of around 15,000 users and I'd like to create a query that I can run on a weekly basis and save the results to an Excel spreadsheet. The results need to be logical and understandable by my coworkers.
Unfortunately, the actual results of the query are not (in their raw form) logical or easy to interpret.
Let's say I have a table called "users" and within that I have:
Surname Forename FieldA FieldB FieldC
FieldA has a value of either NULL or a 12-digit number FieldB has the values are "ENABLED", "DISABLED" and "N/A" FieldC contains a value of either "1" or NULL
This means nothing to my coworkers who want each user to be sorted into a "category". As I'm running this on a weekly basis, I'd like this query to do the work for me, so I don't have to manually assign everyone to a category in Excel. Plus, of course, there is no chance of human error if the query does this for me.
Sooo... I'd like my query to categorise for me as follows:
Category1 = FieldA IS NOT NULL and FieldB="ENABLED" Category2 = FieldA IS NOT NULL and FieldB="N/A" Category3 = FieldA IS NULL and FieldB="ENABLED" Category4 = FieldA IS NULL and FieldB="N/A" Category5 = FieldA IS NOT NULL and FieldC = 1 ... etc.
I'd like the final column in the query results to simply list the category name, so I can simply copy and paste the data into an Excel spreadsheet and be done with it, safe in the knowledge that it makes sense to all.
I have created a query with the parameter for the Domain field. however on the form the user enters this information via a drop down menu. i was just wondering could the parameter box be set to a drop down box as well to save the user entering in the full Domain field name?
I need code for save dialog file ,and select the file from textbox and save it to the selected location.i have only this code and i dont know what else i can do with this because it just opens the save file dialog !
Here is my issue. In a table with an Auto Number index some records have been deleted. I have been able to recreate them along with their original auto number. The problem is that I do not know how to append these records forcing the original auto number. I have tried changing the auto number field to a number field in the table, this works except I cannot change it back to auto number.
I am sure I’m not the first with this question or issue. I did search through a couple hundred entries about auto number before I posted this question.
I need a simple line of VBA code for Access 2000. I am using Access to open a XML file via Excel 2000 spreadsheet. After opening I want to use SAVEAS to save the file to a different location. In addition I want to specify the file format as Excel. What is the code to specify the file type as Excel?
My current code is :
myWorkBook.SaveAs (myPaths![Path])
So what do I need to add to this line to specify the file type?
I have a combo box that gets its data from a seperate table...In the table I have "Location_ID" and "Location_Name". When I save my form I want the "Location_Name" to save in the "Events" table, but its putting in the "Location_ID". How do I get it to save the "Location_Name" instead of the "Location_ID" from the combo box.
Hey all I have added a yes no button to my save button, so users have the option to save the record or not. so the save yes works fine, but it is the save no I am having probelms with. I would like to click no, and have the changed not saved, clear that out and go back to the first record again kind of like undo. Thanks! Here is my current code: On Error GoTo Err_savebtn_Click PIN.SetFocus 'enable buttons insbtn.Enabled = True Command31.Enabled = True Command63.Enabled = True
'Save the current record Dim Answer As String Let Answer = MsgBox("Would you like to save your changes?", vbYesNo, "Save record Confirmation") If Answer = vbYes Then DoCmd.DoMenuItem acFormBar, acRecordsMenu, acSaveRecord, , acMenuVer70 exitedit Else exitedit Call firstbtn_Click End If Exit_savebtn_Click: Exit Sub
if i use Date() as default value at my field, can i save it? i mean it not change when next day come for some record. coz i want to use today's date as default date to some record. when next day come, date for that recoerd still at yesterday's date..
I previously posted this in one of the other forums, but now believe this to be of a more general nature, and am still without a satisfactory explanation or any workaround:
I'm working on a new database with Access 2003, using the 2002-2003 file format. While debugging a VBA code module in the VB editor, whenever I get a runtime error something strange happens - I stop the debugger, correct the code and attempt to save my changes, and Access displays the message "Microsoft Office Access can't save design changes or save to a new database object because another user has the file open. To save your design changes or to save to a new object, you must have exclusive access to the file." It then persists in denying me the ability to save ANYTHING until I close the VB editor, close the Access application, and then start over again. In fact, there is no other user - all other machines on the network are turned off, and no other instances of Access or the VB editor are open.
Needless to say, this is slowing my development efforts to a crawl, and I'm totally stumped by it - I never remember running into this problem in years of working with Access 97 (where I can hit errors, stop execution, make any needed corrections to code or other objects, and re-run the application, without having to exit). I'm running this on a P4 3.4 GHz box with 1 GB of RAM. Going into Tools, Options, Advanced and switching the "Default open mode" between Shared and Exclusive makes no difference.
This morning when I make changes to reports in design view then I try to save the changes and Access acts like nothing was saved. I then close window and it asks if I want to save changes, I click yes then it dosn't close. If I close and don't save changes it closes then.
I don't get any error messages or anything that looks like a problem and I could save changes yesturday. Not sure what is differant today.
