Queries :: Select Active Record In A Table Using A Query
Nov 30, 2013
Based upon a specific date (varDate), I want to select the record that is active (who drives the lease car).
row 1 user X from 13/11/2013
row 2 user Y from 15/11/2013
row 3 user Z from 17/11/2013
I want to find the active user on a date. So on date 13/11/2013 (=varDate), user X is active, on 14/11/2013 (=varDate), user X is still active, on 15/11/2013 (=varDate), user Y is active, on 16/11/2013 (=varDate), user Y is still active and on 17/11/2013 and later, user Z is active.
I would like to make a query which is based on a table that holds information on employees (past and current)
I take the fields:
Name Entry Date Exit Date
and now would like to write a query where I can select a start and end date and the outcome should then be the "active" employees during this time. for example between 1-7-2007 and 31-7-2007
I can not get my head around the criteria as the dates lie in 2 fields.
The exit date field can be empty or have dates that lie outside the range (see above) like the end of a contract at 30-10-2007
Hope someone can give me a tip to get me on my way.
Query_Rates (Actually this is the result of a query): Unit R_Date Sold_Rate A 24-AUG-15 145
[code]...
So what I want is a list of all the records from the Query_Rates table where the absolute differences between the sold rates between Query_Rates & [Sent till date] (matching the unit # and the dates) is greater than 1 and the record shouldn't be displayed if it is already present in the [Sent till date] table. But if you notice the first record which has unit A is already mentioned in the "Sent till date" table and shouldn't be repeated again in the query result.
While I am not new to Access, I am not well versed in its abilities as far as combo boxes go. What I have is a Form where a combo box allows you to pick from a table records 'record ID #' in order to fill in the data of that record to the rest of the form. What I want to do is use a query to select specific records from this table and allow the combo box to show only these 'selected Record IDs' for user selection.
I have generated two queries called "qry_GetWellName_GetAPI" and "qry_GetWellProduction" that extracts all the data I need from a csv to make two tables.
My issue is that I can not gather all the production data into a query formatted properly for a make table query that contains production history by month / api number.
Ideally the data would be placed in a table called tblProductionHistory with the following unique table index --> [api_fk] [data date]. The api_fk would link to the table that was created by extracting well names using qry_GetWellName_GetAPI.
tblProductionHistory field structure I am trying to achieve:
Currently the qry_GetWellProduction shows each well name and the year it had production as a separate record from the month names and the month's production values. I need to consolidate the data so each record can be matched to the unique table index.
Is there a sub query I need to use to manufacture a data date for each month that includes the year and last day of that month for that year? Also would I need a separate sub query to match each month's production to the api number?
I have made a new access 2013 database. I have created a linked table that has imported a substantial amount of data from an external data source, (an Excel spreadsheet). So far no problem. I created a select query that plucked data from the original table mentioned. Again, no problem. Then I decided to create another table, using certain fields only from the select query. Microsoft's guide tells me to start with CREATE, then Table design. I am happy to use just 4 fields from my query, but what I keep ending up with is a table, that, when I double click on it gives me the following:
ID Field1 Field2 Click to add (New)
It is presumably expecting me to enter an ID number and it will come up with some record, but I want a complete table that should show several hundred records.
Let's say Table (T1) has fields F1 and F2. After a massive update to T1, there are some records with F1 = "" because a Dlookup using F2 as criteria to another Table (T2) resulted in a null. I created a select query to show unique T1F2 values where T1F1 = "". The user can use this query to find out which F2 values need to be added to T2.
How do I create an update query that will update T1F1 with values from T2 using the T1F2 results from the select query to again use the Dlookup to T2 (of course after T2 has been updated to contain the missing F2's)?
I am fairly new to Access and I would like to create a form to allow users to create their own query. I would like to allow users to select multiple fields (perhaps with checkboxes?) from all possible fields in a table to return either all data from that field or narrow their search by inputting certain criteria or choosing from a drop down into a text box. Is this possible in Access and any detailed specifics on how to achieve this?
I have a query that selects the "Active" records for three different selections, A, B or C.. There may be 1, 2 or 3 results for a particular selection. That is Selection A may have one result or active records, but Selection B may have three results.
I want to use data from the query to populate a field on a form. For example, if the results for Selection A, having one "Active" record would be RecordAData. But for Selection B with three "Active" records the result would be RecordBData & " " & RecordBData2 & " " & RecordBData3
My query is: SELECT tblSomething.ID, tblSomething.D1, tblSomething.D2, tblSomething.D3, tblSomething.D4, tblSomething.D5, tblSomething.D6, [D3] & " " & [D4] & " " & [D5] & "-" & [D6] & " " & "SomeText" AS Header FROM tblSomething WHERE (((tblSomething.D1)=Forms!frmSomethingHeaders!D1) And ((tblSomething.D2)=True));
The concatenation in the query is labeled "Header". I want to be able to Concatenate the "Header" which in itself is a concatenation in the query.
I thought that this might be a looping through the query results, but I cannot figure out how to do it. But then, that is only my uneducated guess.
I'm fairly new to Access. 's various select queries containing useful and useless results. I want to create a select query that will pick out all the useful figures into a 1 row table that can then be pasted into Excel.
e.g Existing Select Query 1 returns 1 row showing Average Age, Average Price, Total rainfall Existing Select Query 2 returns 1 row showing Average Weight, Average Salary, Total snowfall Existing Select Query 3 returns *2* rows: It returns Distance from London, Hours daylight and population for Town A and Town B
I want a select query that returns 1 row showing (6 items):
Total rainfall, Total snowfall, Town A Distance from London, Town A Population, Town B Distance from London, Town B Population.
I've been able to handle getting Total rainfall and Total snowfall. But I cant figure out how to get Town A Distance from London, Town A Population, Town B Distance from London, Town B Population to appear in the same row of the same query results as Total rainfall, Total snowfall.
I have a basic database design, well I think so anyway. It only has two tables:
1. tblClientInfo 2. tblNotes
Basically each client has multiple notes/comments that can be linked to its record, hence the tblNotes table. The two tables have a one-to-many relationship, being that each customer can have many notes.
I then have two forms:
1. Claims Loss Form 2. tblNotes_DatasheetSub1
So I can enter multiple notes for each customer. The problem I am having is with the report output. It wants to print every note (record) that is linked to the customer. I just need it to print the most recent note for each customer (It would save a lot of wasted paper).
Example of a print out of what it is doing:
John Doe - 123 Easy St - Notes 1 (Most Recent Note) John Doe - 123 Easy St - Notes 2 (Previous Note) John Doe - 123 Easy St - Notes 3 (and so on...)
It is printing duplicates of the same customer by adding the additional notes for that same customer on a new line.
How can I tell it to only print the customer one time in the report, and most importantly, to only use the most recent note that is linked to the customer?
I tried using DMax("NoteDate","tblNotes"), but this only returns one customer with one note. I need it to do that for each and all customers.
I have successfully ran a subquery (two queries with one linked to another) by following detailed instructions from this page I found: [URL] .... It works, but the problem is it only shows the latest date for each note, not the actual contents of the note. I feel so close with this option, but so far at the same time.
The TOP n records per group looks promising that I found here: [URL] ...., but I honestly don't know how to implement it correctly in my SQL. I am very much still learning Access and apparently have stumbled into something that is much more complicated than I had originally imagined. I just assumed I could filter the duplicates out, or tell access to print the last or most recent note record for each customer.
I would like to add fields from one table to another based on matching datetime codes.
Most data are in the table 'metadata' (information on sound recordings), and i want to add lat long fields from a large table of GPS points 'gpsData'. Each record in the metadata table has start and end datetime fields - i want to a add lat and long that matches the start time and a lat and long that matches the end time (so four fields to metadata).
My approach has been to try this with two separate select queries (i.e. one for adding the start locations and one for adding the end locations), with the intention of then combining these two outputs in a single table.
When i try a simple select query though I can see that:
a) there are no matching time codes for some records, because although the hh:mm:ss look the same there are differences in the lesser decimal places of the datetime serial numbers. I have tried using the round function on the datetime fields of both tables but this doesn't fix it (I don't understand why not).
b) there are some duplicates because there are sometimes more than one GPS point for each second, and the metadata times are given to second precision (so some metadata records get two entries in the query result).
How can I have the query select the gpsData record with the nearest datetime stamp to that in the metadata table's start time field? The respective field names are UTC and StartUTC. Can i do the same for the end times simultaneously or should i do this separately?
I am using a software drawing program that intelligently link information from a drawing to a database and vice versa. I have many tables and queries that I have created over time that enable auto populating of tables, creation of tables and so on. All of which enable me with tabular documents for ordering purposes.
The problem I currently have is: - I want to create a table that looks at an existing table, analysis various fields for duplicate information and then adds one record to a new table. This is to enable me to create a spares list based on the entire list.
I have a full valve list with various items, some duplicates some not. I am required to produce a spares list that considers only one of each type.
Hello! I am building a report that tracks excessive call-in's for my hospital's employees. Data is entered into a form which then is stored in the table (duh!) "Call-In's." I have a query that lists all those who have more than 5 call-in's.
Here is the problem: In order to get the sum of callin's per person, I did a totals field in my original query and counted on Name. But now I needed to know the sum of each person's, and so I had to do a cross-tab query that included the name, department, the count (from the first query) and then I summed on the count field. What a mess, right? Also, I added a field for If >5, Yes, No.
I based my Excessive call-in's report on the final (above) query. Like this:
Call In's table Name, Department, Date of Call in, Call in type
Call-in's query Name, Department, Date of Call in, Call in type, Count of Name
Call-in's crosstab Rows: Name (GROUP BY), Department (GROUP BY) Columns: Count (SUM) and total of Count (SUM)
Excessive Call-In's query Name, Total of count, iif >5, Yes, No
There are already 54 records in the table, one of which has excessive call in's (more than 5).
Is there a way to run a report that not only lists the person's name and number of call in's but also the date of each one and the call in type? Both of these are fields in the call-in's table.
When I try to combine my Call-In's query with my Excessive Call In's query I get the matrix. Example: I get the same record for however many callin's they have. Thank for your help. I'm so sorry this is complicated. I've got to be doing something wrong, or at least inefficiently. Does any of this make sense? Thanks again.
I am trying to run a sql statement in vba in which it selects all the records in a table related to a order Id number. I then want it loop through all the records and check for a check box which is selected. if its selected then "A" variable becomes "1" and i will then run a if statement saying if variable is 1 then run this code else run code b.
The problem I am having is that if there are 4 records the code checks through all of the 4 records and keeps changing the variable so
record 1 variable is 0 record 2 var is 0 " " " 1 " " " is 0
so although the records for a given order number does have a checked box the code wont recognise that.
What I can do or what code I can add my minds gone all blank on this.
I have a database used to track my personal assignments, created about six years ago using Access 2003 on Windows XP. Recently upgraded to Access 2010 on Windows 7. At some point thereafter, I started having the following issue:
When a new record is created, that record gets added to the table, but doesn't show-up in any query, form, or report until after another new record has been added. The most recently added record cannot be located to view or update, except in the table, until after another new record has been added to the table. Queries, forms, & reports now always lag behind by one record.
None of the queries, forms, or reports tested contain filters. I have several multi-user databases that I also support and none of those users have reported having this problem. This is only happening on my personal database.
I've re-created this database once or twice in the past to resolve other issues, but would like to avoid that route this time around, if possible.
Form - record source - select a table that when the user enter a value in the field of the form it gets place into the designated table (select a table). my problem is that I have two fields in the form, one field from the data entry is suppose to go to the train table, and another field the data entry is suppose to go to the station table. if I have the form's record source have a designated table for the data entry. It doesn't have two tables for the data entry.
I am a newbie to Access. I have a check box on my form that defaults to checked, meaning the record is active, what I want to do is when the box is unchecked, not have the record appear as an active record and just be on the table. I have the check box on the table and when I uncheck it on the form it unchecks on the table but don't know how to stop it from appearing in the active records. Thanks for your help, April
hi I want to set record selector on the form with a record number that I am founding it with this code: Code:Dim con As ADODB.ConnectionDim cmd As ADODB.CommandDim rst As ADODB.RecordsetSet con = New ADODB.ConnectionSet cmd = New ADODB.CommandSet rst = New ADODB.Recordsetcon.Open "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=" & CurrentProject.Path & "hazineh-bime.mdb" & ";Persist Security Info=False" cmd.CommandText = "select * from table1 where salp=" & Val(Trim(Form_mainhazineh.sal.Value)) & " and mahp=" & (Trim(Form_mainhazineh.mah.Value)) & " " Set cmd.ActiveConnection = con rst.Open cmd, , 1, adLockReadOnly If rst.RecordCount = 1 Then ' found the record else end if I mean I want to change the active record on the form with another one . how can I do it?
I am trying to determine the best method for how to handle this query using Access 2013. I have a clients table that contains the following:
clientID fName lName admissionDate dischargeDate 1 John Doe 05/06/2014 06/27/2014 2 Jane Doe 04/24/2014 05/15/2014 3 Steven Smith 05/15/2014 NULL/Empty 4 Chris Davis 06/12/2014 NULL/Empty
Then there is a WeeklyProgressNotes table that is there for the person that is responsible for auditing the clients charts. It does not contain the actual weeklyprogressnotes, it only contains a Yes/No field and a date field for the date the weeklyprogressnote was completed. Like below:
I am creating a form that the auditor can open to determine what weeks she needs to check for each client to see if they have their weeklyprogressnotes completed that week. The weeks run Mon - Sun and there will be no record in the WeeklyProgressNotes table if she has not yet checked and confirmed for that week. So the form would basically look like this:
fName lName week completed date clientID(hidden) John Doe 5/19/14-5/25/14 Checkbox Null 1 John Doe 5/26/14-6/1/14 Checkbox Null 1 John Doe 6/2/14-6/8/14 Checkbox Null 1 John Doe 6/9/14-6/15/14 Checkbox Null 1 John Doe 6/16/14-6/22/14 Checkbox Null 1 John Doe 6/23/14-6/29/14 Checkbox Null 1 Jane Doe 4/28/14-5/4/14 Checkbox Null 2 and so on.......
I have thought about creating an SQL statement to select all of the clients and then creating a function that determines their admission date within the specific week and their discharge date withing the specific week and then create a loop with another SQL statement with a BETWEEN clause for all the weeks and determine if there is an entry in the WeeklyProgressNotes table or not. If not then I would display out the above info. I'm not sure if there is an easier, less search intensive way of doing it. Maybe an SQL query that can cut done on some of the looping.
Hi All, I hope I can explain what I am trying to achieve.. I have a "Top 1" query (Qry_Avail_StockItem), which selects the next available record in a table. I have a main form (Frm_MasterStock) with a command button "Add Record". If the user clicks the "Add Record" button, I need the form to go to the record that the query has selected.
I have a database that is used to allocate appointments to our staff. It has 2 tables, one that lists the clients we need to call in that day, and another that stores details of each contact attempt. I'd like to design a query that find all clients who we have not dealt with so we can easily get their details in a list. I know what the criteria for the query would be, but I'm stuck for how to actually execute it. Here are the details.
Table tClients stores the current clients - primary key is named "clientRef" Table tContactEvents stores each contact attempt and the date/time is stored in a field named "dateTime".
When an entry has been dealt with successfully a yes/no field named "completed" will be set to "Yes".
There may be many attempts to contact a specific client on a given day, unsuccessful attempts will not have the completed flag set.
Once the completed flag is set that client will be ignored so no further entries will appear.
So I need a query that searches tContactEvents for the most recent match to each number in tClients.clientRef and checks if the completed flag is set. If the completed flag is false, or if the number has no match (i.e. no contact attempts made yet) then the clientRef should be displayed. I also need this to be restricted to the current date, as the same client could have rebooked their appointment to a different day.
