I am trying to create a query which show me which of my customers in my database does not also contact a contact to go with it.
I have two tables; Customers and Contacts.
When I create a query I add the fields Company Name from the Customers Table and First Name from the Contacts Table. There are obviously other fields in both tables.
However when I run the query it does not not show me all the results. It only shows me customers if something has been entered into any of the fields in the contacts table for that Customer. I suppose this triggers a contact ID entry for that customer even if no Name has been entered.
However, how do I run a query to show me customer entries which have no contacts to go with them because no contact entry has been made for that customer?
tblEmployees - Stores employee data tblProcess - Stores process data tblTraining - Stores data on which employees have trained on which process
tblEmployees has a 1 to many relationship to tblTraining through empID tblProcess has a 1 to many relationship to tblTraining through pcsID
When a new Process is added, a query auto populates tblTraining with 1 record for each employee in tblEmployees. Equally when a new Employee is added, a query auto populates tblTraining with 1 record for each Process in tblProcess.
In theory this should ensure that every employee has a training record for every process (and vice versa). However, as many of us know, never assume the user wont find a way to mess things up!
So i want to have a query that can show me Employee and Process without a training record. I have been manipulating a SELECT (SELECT) query to pull this together, but i just keep coming up blank.
I have attached a copy of the relevant tables and query. I have deliberately deleted a training record for empID 6 on pcsID 1 AND empID102 on pcsID 2 (qryCheckTrainingRecordsBalance will show the processes these 2 DO have a training record for).
I created a form for data entry only where records could be continually added until you were done and closed the form. Into that form I dropped a query that kept a running list in datasheet form of all the new records entered while the form was open, and then cleared when the form was closed (so the query was empty when the form was opened again).
My Problem: I accidentally deleted that query.
What I need:
-Query to be empty when form is opened. -Records added while form is open get displayed in the query after record is saved.
I have a table for stock with two fields, KEY and DESCRIPTION; a table for manufacturers with two fields, KEY and NAME; and a third table which links to them both with a many-to-one join with three fields, KEY, STOCK-KEY and MFR-KEY. What I am trying to do is write a query that for a given manufacturer (entered via a parameter) shows a single line for all stock records that are NOT linked to it via the third table. I am sure it should be simple but all my attempts fail to exclude stock linked to the manufacturer if it is also linked to another manufacturer. Any ideas?
I have table with different companies and related info. Another table with contacts for each of the companies, each company might have different number of contacts. I want the form to show all the contacts for each of the company, if there are two contacts in the company then show two, if five then show five. Just to make sure I am doing it the right way, what is the best way to build a form that is based on multiple tables. Thanks in advance, John
i am trying to show the total number of records that are in a table.
there are currently 8 entries in the table 'applications'
now i would like to show this on a tabcontrol in a form. I have been told to use Dcount. I have read about this and tried this on my form but unfortunately its not working.
Can anyone show me an example of how i would do this.
I am trying to customize one of my query table, so that it shows the latest review date of an employee (with multiple entries). I have gotten the SQL statement to work so that it shows the latest employee review date which is greater than the current date. But if the employee has 2 records after the current date and I want it to show the latest entry of the 2. I don't know to put add a sub-Select statement or whether to add another criteria in the Where criteria.
e.g. Current Date = May 25, 2005If Employee A's next review date is set for June 1, 2005 but has already been reviewed (the next review date is May 31, 2006). The query will show the June 1, 2005 and not the latest entry of May 31, 2006.
Because there are 2 review dates that are after the current date. What should I do to make only the latest entry appear?
Below is the my VBA code so far, which produces the above result.
SELECT tblEmp.fname, tblEmp.lname, tblEmpWorkHistory.[current store], tblEmp.position, tblEmpSalaryHistory.salary, tblEmpSalaryHistory.next_review_date FROM (tblEmp INNER JOIN tblEmpSalaryHistory ON tblEmp.ssn=tblEmpSalaryHistory.ssn) LEFT JOIN tblEmpWorkHistory ON tblEmp.ssn=tblEmpWorkHistory.ssn WHERE (((tblEmpSalaryHistory.next_review_date)>Now() And (tblEmpSalaryHistory.next_review_date)<=[Please enter the Next Review Date])) ORDER BY tblEmpSalaryHistory.next_review_date;
My brain is stuck and can't figure it out. I hope any fresh mind could help me out. Thanks in advance.
Alot of my databases entries are missing. today i went on MS access 2007 and it said "security risk" so i went to options and enabled marcros. but when i get on to my database there is only one entry! but i know the information is there. the file is 1700 mb. what should i do?
We have an Access 2000 db, which has been used for some time and is split between a front and back end. We've come in today and tried to open the back-end, which contains only tables, and when it opens it's completely blank. We can't see any of the objects or the normal menu to access the tables, queries, etc. We can, however, import the tables into a new database, so they must be there.
Any idea why this has happened or how to stop it happening again.
Can anyone tell me how to display the database window that shows all the forms, queries, tables etc in a database?
I have an Access database with startup restrictions and startup login screen. I can open the database by holding down the SHIFT key to bypass the startup options but when Access opens there appears to be no Database Window. I can create new objects in the database ok its just that there is no main database window from where I can browse objects. This is driving me mad - i know it's probably something simple but I rarely work with access
I have inherited a database that contains details of staff training data and the tables contain the following:
Personal Information Table: PersonalID Surname Forename EmploymentStatus (this contains either Staff, Operative, or Supervisor)
Training Courses Table: CourseID Course Name Course Description Supervisor (Yes/No) Operative (Yes/No) Staff (Yes/No)
Training Courses Attended Table: RecordID PersonalID CourseID Date
Each of the courses in the Training Courses Table should be attended by one or more of the groups identified in the EmploymentStatus field (ie. Supervisor, Operative, Staff) and the relevant field in the Training Courses Table is flagged eg. Training Courses Table: CourseID, CourseName, Supervisor, Operative, Staff 100, basic safety, Yes, Yes, Yes 101, safety management, Yes, No, No 102, working with ladders, No, Yes, No 103, VDU, No, Yes, Yes
I need to identify which individuals have not attended the courses that they should have been completed (ie. compare courses attended with the list of courses associated with the EmploymentStatus associated with individual staff members, and identify which courses have no attendance dates). How can I structure the query, I can't see how to do this with the existing tables, but I think it should be possible, but my Access expertise is just not good enough to work through this.
I've got a database used daily by 4 users. It's split into a frontend (10MB) with all the forms/queries/reports/vba and a backend that's just tables (170MB), and the users access the database from a network drive. All additions through the forms are logged to a text file, and at the end of the day, a report is run that prints the day's work to a PDF. The database / workflow has been stable for the last few years, with only minor edits to the code, and no programmatic changes in the last 3 months.
Today, after running a compact-and-repair, I realized that the database contained no entries added within the last 2 weeks. I checked my log files, and sure enough I see that all of my records were at some point added to the database. This is supported by the fact that I have PDFs for every day in the last 2 weeks that show exactly what was done (roughly 30 new records/day).
My first guess was that compact and repair had corrupted the database, and knocked out a chunk of records. Fortunately, I've got daily backups, so I started restoring to yesterday's database. At this point I found that the records were missing from there, and from every backup from the last 2 weeks. Now, it's possible that my backup solution (logMeIn backup) is hosed, but the the log files are getting properly restored by the backup, which leads me to believe the backup is working. So, somehow these records were never saved in the database, yet they magically appeared in my end-of-day reports?
I thought maybe I was getting stuck in some state where the database went read-only and the edits were getting stored in memory but never written to disk, but that doesn't make sense as we occasionally restart the database during the day for other reasons, and the end-of-day reports are always complete, which knocks that out. Having restored to a prior version of the DB, I attempted to make changes / add new records and they appear to be sticking, but I find my faith in Access rather shaken, all the more so because I haven't a clue what went wrong before.
I have a query that will draw down student details who have completed a course in a given month (May for example), i would like to use this data to identify those learners who are not enrolled on a course in the next Month (June for example). There is no field that denotes whether a student has left only that a course assosciated with their ID has a completion date within that Month. There are approx 250 records.
In my head it should work something like this
1) Identify all learners who finsihed a course in May (Identify learner ID, must have a course end date in that month)
2)Cross reference these against all those who started a course in June and identify the students that have completed in May but did not start a course in June.
Is it possible to store all those who completed (May) in a table/query and cross reference those who started in June and identify of the May completions who did not start in June?
I have a relatively large database 65M, 42K records.
For some reason I seemed to have lost most (not all) of the queries I have written. However, if I go to file>database properties>contents, I can see all my queries there.
I certainly did not delete them. Any I idea of what’s going on ? I'm, using Acess 2000 on win2K. Might this be a resources / memory related issue?
Basically, I'm compiling a table of funding sources and whilst all the fields are relatively straight forward, how best to approach the matter of where the funding is available. For example, Funding A is available in America only, Funding B is available in America, Canada and Europe and Funding C is available Internationally etc (a huge number of possible options and infinite different combinations). How's best for me to lay this out because there will be hundreds of funding sources all with different availability criteria? If the field name is 'Countries funding is available', can a data type input be multiple entries?
Ultimately I'll want to be able to query show all funding sources available internationally or show those available to America and Canada only etc...and when I query on another field or show all, I'll want to see where each of the funding sources are available, listed out .
I run a database for defect detail, tracking, and resolution. Often times we have the same type of defect occur multiple times before the problem is resolved. Currently the process is that every time a defect occurs, it gets entered into the database, and whenever it gets solved, those who have solved it have to go to the database and mark it as complete.
However, since every time a problem occurs, a record is created, the people who mark issues as complete have to go through and find all similar records of problems which are basically the same problem and mark those as complete as well.
I have a query where I am geting the last 4 digits from an id. However my query when it returns the results misses out the leading zero from the results. For instance if I had an id of 12340567 the query should return 0567 but instead it returns 567. This is what I am using:Max(Right([Employee]!
We have two facilities that receive four different types of shipments. I wanted to set up a database to track these shipments. Is there a way for me to set up tables such that the person entering the information can leverage the same date and location field for each entry type? For example, we may only receive two types of shipments today and four tomorrow. I want to avoid having the clerk enter the date and location two times today and four times tomorrow for each data entry.
Here's an example of what I mean above:
Date Location Type Qty 5/16 1 A 10 5/16 1 B 1 5/17 1 A 1,000 5/17 1 B 100 5/17 1 C 1 5/17 1 D 11
I'd like for the clerk to select from a fixed number of locations (1 and 2) and a fixed number of types (A, B, C, or D) and provide the date and quantity received.
Dim AppendUsers As String AppendUsers = "INSERT INTO tblPermissions ( empid )" & _ "SELECT tblEmployee.empid" & _ "FROM tblEmployee LEFT JOIN tblPermissions ON tblEmployee.[empid] = tblPermissions.[empID]" & _ "WHERE (((tblPermissions.empID) Is Null) AND ((tblEmployee.active)=Yes) AND ((tblEmployee.inputname)=Yes));" If MsgBox("This will search for new users with valid logins and add to the permissions table, do you wish to continue?", vbYesNo, "Append Users") = vbYes Then DoCmd.RunSQL (AppendUsers)
I currently have query that looks at 2 tables that hold financial information. I am querying the data to do some adding and subtracting based off a financial class of a facility. The issue I am having is that one table may have a financial code that the other does not have but I still need to show that financial class for the facility.
My looks as follows
FROM [CashValue Link] INNER JOIN TCashValue ON ([CashValue Link].FINANCIAL = [TCashValue].FINANCIAL) and ([CashValue Link].Date1 = TCashValue.Date1) AND ([CashValue Link].FACILITY = TCashValue.FACILITY) AND ([CashValue Link].CLT = TCashValue.CLT)
I have a list of what should be sequentaia numbers, but I am finding instances were a number seems to be missing..Is there a way to query the whole dataset and find all missing instances without having to trawl he list?
I have a master table that holds all of my data. The table details what qualifications someone is holding.I would like a query that would enable me to produce a list of people who DO NOT hold a qualification.
