Queries :: Subtracting Date Fields

Jul 10, 2013

I have an Access query which has 2 fields 'Sent Date' and 'Return Date'. Sent date is input by the user when they return an item for repair, return date is input by the user when the item is sent back to us from repair. What I need is a 3rd calculated field which will work out the number of days the item was away for repair. I have included the 3rd column 'Repair Duration' but I don't know how to type the formula in the query to work this out.

Before I start implementing this, I would like to know if it is possible to do in principle

I want two fields, say TimeStarted and TimeEnded. I then want to subtract the two from one another to see how long the task took.

Is this possible or would i be wasting my time trying it?

Subtracting Aggregate Fields In A Report

Mar 21, 2012

I'm trying to create an expense report based off two tables. I have a table for Bouts, and a table for Bout transactions. In the Bout transaction table there is a field that specifies whether the transaction is an expense or a revenue.

I'm trying to create a report that will split the transactions out by expenses and revenues, then in the summary show the total income, (income - expenses.) I have the report formatted, but I'm not sure how to get the grand total.

I currently have the report laid out as such:

Bout Name

Revenue

Sample Revenue 1 $100
Sample Revenue 2 $50

Revenue Total: $150

Expenses

Sample Expense 1 $100

Expense Total: $100

Net Total: (I would like to subtract the 150 from 100 here)

Subtracting 12 Hours From A Date-time Field

Nov 13, 2007

I am trying to subtract 12 hours from a time-date field when the payperiod does not equal 01.

in a query I have:

work date: iif([payperiod]="01",[StartTime],[starttime]-#12:00:00#) - Access added a PM before the second hash so it looks like this:

iif([payperiod]="01",[StartTime],[starttime]-#12:00:00 PM#)

When I run the query I get a message box: "syntax error (missing operator) in query expression '00:00:PM#,2))". I am unable to open the query to correct the error. I can cop the unaltered query from a back up database.

My question is how do I subtract the 12 hours.

Thanks

Adding And Subtracting Dates From Current Date

May 7, 2013

My first question is how to set a column to be the current date read by the computer.

Example: It will automatically say 5/8/2013 tomorrow without needing updating.

Question 2: How to add a number of days to the current date.

Example:

Add 7 days to the current date.

on 5/8/2013 it will read 5/15/2013, then automatically update to 5/16/2013 on 5/9.

Subtracting Results From Two Different Queries.

Jun 16, 2005

Hi, here's the situation:

I have a query A, that gives me the a set of numbers.
I have a query B, that gives me another set of numbers.

Numbers in B are always equal or larger than those in A. (B >= A)

I want to create a new query C, that does the subtraction. (C = B-A)

Here's an example to explain what I want.
Let's say I have A=4,7 and B=6,9

Now, when I create the query, I get the following result:
A | B | C=B-A
4 | 6 | 2
4 | 9 | 5
7 | 6 | -1
7 | 9 | 2

What I want is this:
A | B | C=B-A
4 | 6 | 2
7 | 9 | 2

How do I do that?

Thanks.

Subtracting Dates In Queries

Feb 1, 2013

My form consists of a textbox with a selected date. I have a combo box with integers 1-15. I have a table with 15 people and their birthdays.

I am trying to find the birthdays after a selected date by the integer selected in the combo box. For example, if I select 2/1/2013, and pick 7 in the combo box, the subform should show me people with birthdays 2/1 through 2/8.

I have a query with a datediff function. This is my query expression Expr1: DateDiff("d",[DateofBirth],[Forms]![Calendar]![Text1]) The criteria is <=[Forms]![Calendar]![Combo3].

It displays some data, but it's not consistent at all. I'm hoping to fix this without any SQL changes or form code. But if that's what I need, I'll do it.

I'm using access 2010, and I'm fairly new at it.

Queries :: Subtracting Stock Numbers With A Query

Jan 2, 2015

I'm creating a sales system that allows customers to place orders using a customer account. when a customer completes an order the number items in the order needs to be subtracted from the stock numbers of each of those items stored in the system.

What I have so far is zipped and attached,

The way my system works should be easy enough to understand, there are four linked tables that store information on customers, products and orders. What I'm really struggling to understand is how to take the values in the records in the Invoice-Product table and take them away from the stock numbers for the products in the products table. But only new orders should take away from the stock number when a new order is placed.

If possible I also need to be able to add stock numbers for example if a delivery comes in, and if it's similar enough could that also be done here?

Queries :: Hiding Date Picker From Date Fields

Is there a way to hide/remove these date pickers from the query sheet?

Within the table itself I turned the "Show date picker" property to "Never" but that didn't make a difference.

Queries :: Selecting All Date Fields Between Two Dates?

Jul 31, 2013

I'm trying to select a range of relevant dates for an amortization calculation (see my earlier thread on this subject here), but I'm having a bit of trouble making the SQL work.

I have a table called "t_AllMonths" that has only one field: MonthStartDate which contains the first day of the month for a very wide range of months over something like a ten-year period. I'm calculating amort for assets which will be amortized for some subset of those months (defined by the asset's Amort Start Date and Amort End Date). Further complicating matters, the amortization may be suspended during certain "hiatus" periods when the asset it not planned to be in use, and may differ by which business units make use of the asset.

So, I have three tables.

Table: t_Assets
Fields: AssetID (autonumber; primary key), Asset_Name, Asset_Cost

Table: t_AllMonths
Fields: MonthStartDate

Table: t_AmortPeriods
Fields: AmortPeriodID, AssetID, Amt_Period_Num (which I don't expect to use in this), StartDate and EndDate

Right now, I'm just trying to pull the range of dates between the earliest amort start date and the latest amort end date. (Min of StartDate and Max of EndDate, respectively) for a given AssetID.

My sql looks like this:

SELECT t_AllMonths.MonthStartDate,
Min(t_AmortPeriods.StartDate) AS MinOfStartDate, Max(t_AmortPeriods.EndDate) AS MaxOfEndDate,
t_Assets.AssetID
FROM t_AllMonths,
t_Assets INNER JOIN t_AmortPeriods ON t_Assets.AssetID = t_AmortPeriods.AssetID
WHERE ((t_AllMonths.MonthStartDate) Between [MinOfStartDate] and [MaxOfEndDate]);

I keep getting an error message that reads "Run-Time Error 3122: You tried to execute a query that does not include the specified expression MonthStartDate as part of an aggregate function."

Queries :: Getting Date / Time Range - Date And Time Are Separate Fields

Mar 13, 2014

I have a database with date and time each stored in a separate field. Now I want to query the database based on a start date/time and an end date/time. I started with the code below but it only returns events within the same time range on each day when what I really need is every event from a specified date and time through a specified date and time.

SELECT myTable.ID AS myTable_ID, myDate, myTime, FirstName, LastName
FROM Staff INNER JOIN myTable ON
Staff.ID = myTable.StaffID
WHERE myTable.myDate >= #3/2/2014#
AND myTable.myDate <= #3/3/2014#
AND myTable.myTime >= #8:00PM#
AND myTable.myTime <= #11:00PM#
ORDER BY myDate desc

In the above example what I want is every event from 3/2/2014 8:00PM until 3/3/2014 11:00PM. But what I get instead is every event between 8:00PM and 11:00PM on 3/2/2014 and every event between 8:00PM and 11:00PM on 3/3/2014.

Queries :: Calculate Difference Between Two Date Fields To Get Total Time

Oct 26, 2014

I have to create a query in access that will calculate two Date and time fields [Date & Time Left]/ [Date Returned], need to figure out between the two fields. Trying to identify when the rep returned the call and the number of business hours (6:00am - 4:30pm) it takes to return a message in Ms Access 2010.

The only issue is the calculation has to be done by time and so I have to calculate what time they left the message(so the difference between [Date & Time Left] and [Date Returned) [Date & Time Left] and when the rep returned the message which is suppose to be [Date Returned] but the problem with this field is the data entry is in date format (10/9/2014, 00/00/0000) of Date and not Date and Time like the [Date & Time Left] field, so I don't know what to do now. Not sure what to do now not a database that create or have allot of control over.

Queries :: Filter Query To Calculate Sum Of Fields In Date Range

Nov 18, 2014

I have a table, tblDailyCalls, that contains agent_name, date, calls_ answered, and talk_time. Ideally on a form, the user will select an agent, enter the date range in txtStartDate and txtEndDate and a report opens to show what the total amount of calls and talk time is for that date range.

All I've managed so far is doing a simple expression on the report itself to sum the fields I want. But my method returns every date in the range. I would like to only display the total.

I've been trying with Totals in the query and crosstab queries but am not familiar with them.

Queries :: Return Records Between Dates Based On 2 Date Fields In A Table

I am trying to extract all records that have either a started date or a completed date between 2 dates supplied by the user. I have tried to use Between on both fields but that doesn't return results between the fields.

It workd if I just do it on EITHER the start date field OR the completion date field so that implies to me that I need to break it into 2 queries, one returning start date recrods and the other returning completion date records but then I would need to have somthing that removes records that appear in both the start date and the completion date results.

Queries :: Getting A Query On Multiple Checkbox Fields To Work With A Date Range?

Nov 7, 2014

I have developed a database which has required many checkbox fields to enable analysis. It requires to have the facility to input random/variable date ranges for statistical purposes.

I have built a query which obtains the counts of multiple fields using the following parameters in Query Builder in Access 2010. Although this comes up with the correct results for these multiple fields when I try introduce date range the results come up blank for all results.

An example of the parameters used for one of the checkbox fields in Query Builder is as follows:

Field: SumAnger: Sum([Anger]*-1)
Table: Default as only one table
Total: Expression
Show: Checked

This works fine.

My latest parameters for the date range are this:

Field: [cDate]
Table: Default as only one table
Total: WHERE Corrected! Whoops Copy & Paste Typo. Too early AM!
Show: Checked or Unchecked makes no difference
Criteria: Between [From Date:] And [To Date:]

This gives a statement in SQL view of:

SELECT Sum([Anger]*-1) AS SumAnger, Sum([Anxiety]*-1) AS SumAnxiety, Sum([Depression]*-1) AS SumDepression, Sum([Listening]*-1) AS SumListenig, Sum([Psychosis]*-1) AS SumPsychosis, Sum([Stress]*-1) AS SumStress, Sum([Other]*-1) AS SumOther, tblCommsLog.[cDate]
FROM tblCommsLog
WHERE (((tblCommsLog.[cDate]) Between [From Date:] And [To Date:]));

what I need to get this to work in Query Builder or failing that recommend some VBA script/code with embedded SQL to achieve the required report.

Queries :: WHERE Statement - Enter Dates Into Date Reported Fields For Results To Show

Sep 11, 2013

I use this

'WHERE ((OperationalRiskEventTable.DateReported)>=Forms!U pdateForm!UDateBegin And (OperationalRiskEventTable.DateReported)<=Forms!Up dateForm!UDateEnd)'

in a query by form.

The problem is that you have to enter a date in the between values for results to show. If I don't enter information into a different field such as Full Name but I enter in 40 into Age then everyone that is 40 years old will show. On the other hand if I enter 40 into the Age field but I leave the Date Reported fields empty then no results will show.

How can I change it so that I don't have to enter dates into the date reported fields for results to show?

Modules & VBA :: Date Field To AutoPopulate Other Date Fields To Future Date

I'm trying to get my "IncidentDate" field to autopopulate two other date fields to a few days from the "IncidentDate". The other two date fields are "ContainDueDate" and "RootDueDate". I'm trying to accomplish this on my "Test CAP Form"

I tried using the following in the BeforeUpdate of "ContainDueDate" and received a complier error: expected =

Code : DateAdd(d,2,[IncidentDate])

so I removed the parenthesis and nothing happened

Code : DateAdd d,2,[IncidentDate]

I even tried redoing it in the AfterUpdate of "IncidentDate" and nothing happened either

Code : DateAdd d,2,[ContainDueDate]

I'm not sure if I'm even using the right function to get what I want.
