Queries :: Sum Of Two Fields From Separate Queries

Dec 16, 2014

I have a sign up form where people select their name for the time slot they want, there are 2 spots open per time slot, so I have Interviewer A and Interviewer B. Records can then either just be a name in A or a name in A and B.

I would like to run a report that shows how many times all the interviewers have signed up in a date range.

I can do this individually by looking up one name at a time with this query:

SELECT Sum(Interview_Schedule.ID) AS SumOfID, Sum(Interview_Schedule.Completed)*-1 AS CountofYes, Count(Interview_Schedule.Completed) AS CountOfCompleted
FROM Interview_Schedule
WHERE (((Interview_Schedule.Interviewer_B)=[Forms]![Main]![NavigationSubform]![cboSup])) OR (((Interview_Schedule.Interviewer_A)=[Forms]![Main]![NavigationSubform]![cboSup]) AND ((Interview_Schedule.Interview_Date) Between [Forms]![Main]![NavigationSubform]![txtStartDate] And [Forms]![Main]![NavigationSubform]![txtEndDate]));

My question is how do I get a report to show all agents at once with their own interview count?

I can make 2 separate queries to look up each field, for interviewer A and Interviewer B, then run a join query, but this results in 2 counts for each agent and I can't sum the two totals together....

SELECT Sum(Interview_Schedule.ID) AS SumOfID, Sum(Interview_Schedule.Completed)*-1 AS CountofYes, Count(Interview_Schedule.Completed) AS CountOfCompleted, Interview_Schedule.Interviewer_A
FROM Interview_Schedule

Queries :: Crosstab Query That Keeps Each Contract On One Line And Separate Fields For Each Contact

Jun 4, 2014

I have two tables, and I'm trying to create a crosstab query...I think. One table is Contracts, one is Contacts. Each contract could have multiple contacts, but they are numbered (1, 2, 3...etc.) based on importance. I want to create a query that keeps each contract on one line, and separate fields for each contact and each field of the contact. So a contact will have Title, First, Last, Address, etc. So I want my query to show as follows:

Code:
Contract-----Title1-----First1-----Title2-----First2
ContractX Mr. James Mrs. Sally

I of course need this to be dynamic, so if a contract has 9 contacts, there are fields up to Title9, First9, etc.

Queries :: Joining 3 Queries And Displaying Results In Separate Columns

Jul 31, 2013

I have 3 queries named Mech Final Equipment 3 Mth, Mech Final Equipment 6 Mth, and Mech Historical Final Equipment. They all have two fields-Final equipment and Sum of Sum of Down (calculating the number of minutes each piece of equipment was down in the time period selected).

My ultimate goal is to join the three queries to display a pivot chart that uses the Final Equipment as the category field and 3 Mth, 6Mth, and Historical as seperate data fields. What I have is a join query (Which I have named Mech Final Equipment H63 Joined)

Using this SQL:

Code:

SELECT DISTINCTROW [Mech Final Equipment 3 Mth].[Final Equipment], Sum([Mech Final Equipment 3 Mth].[Sum Of Down]) AS Duration
FROM [Mech Final Equipment 3 Mth]
GROUP BY [Mech Final Equipment 3 Mth].[Final Equipment]
UNION

[code]...

Which returns a table that looks like this:

Final Equipment, Duration

Ancillary Equipment, 225
Ancillary Equipment, 401
Ancillary Equipment, 1787
Brush Unit , 1252
Brush Unit , 2519
Brush Unit , 8004

And so on.What I need the table to look like is this

Final Equipment, 3 Mth, 6 Mth, Historical

Ancillary Equipment, 225, 401, 1787
Brush Unit, 1252, 2519, 8004

And so on, like a cross tab.I tried to do a crosstab query but I don't have enough fields.

Queries :: Getting Date / Time Range - Date And Time Are Separate Fields

Mar 13, 2014

I have a database with date and time each stored in a separate field. Now I want to query the database based on a start date/time and an end date/time. I started with the code below but it only returns events within the same time range on each day when what I really need is every event from a specified date and time through a specified date and time.

SELECT myTable.ID AS myTable_ID, myDate, myTime, FirstName, LastName
FROM Staff INNER JOIN myTable ON
Staff.ID = myTable.StaffID
WHERE myTable.myDate >= #3/2/2014#
AND myTable.myDate <= #3/3/2014#
AND myTable.myTime >= #8:00PM#
AND myTable.myTime <= #11:00PM#
ORDER BY myDate desc

In the above example what I want is every event from 3/2/2014 8:00PM until 3/3/2014 11:00PM. But what I get instead is every event between 8:00PM and 11:00PM on 3/2/2014 and every event between 8:00PM and 11:00PM on 3/3/2014.

Queries :: Set Parameter As First Value From Separate Query

Aug 11, 2015

I have multiple queries that I need to have filered by the same parameter (Client). There is a list of clients that receive this report (the report has a pre-made template with multiple tabs, hence the multiple queries).

Currently the user of the database has to filter the exported excel file for each client re-save and email basied on the client. The above is done when the user pushes the specified button on a form (which just says run report a on it).

I am trying to figure out how the write a code so that a parameter (or table if that would work better) pulls the first record of the Client query to filter the other queries being run. Then to loop that process with the second record and so on through the Client query until all the clients have had the report run for them.

Attached are the current VBA being used and the current SQL for the first query that needs the parameter value added.

Queries :: Obtaining 3 Separate Totals In One Query?

Jul 22, 2014

I have three tables A, B and C.

I want to build a query that displays three separate totals: Total of A, Total of B and Total of C.

When I try to do this, the query has a weird behaviour summing the totals of the totals of the totals, and I don't know why .

I'm attaching a really basic sample of what's happening, where totals SHOULD be $4, $8 and $16 instead of $16, $32 and $64.

Queries :: Delimited Text To 10 Separate Columns?

Sep 8, 2014

I'm trying to build a query that can parse Delimited text to columns, for example I have the following:

ID,Name,Tel,Fax,Email,Directorate,DOB,AOCD,Reg,CD

I would like to convert the above in 10 seperate columnns within a query?

Is this possible? I know you can import delimited text to columns but that is not what i'm after for other reasons.

Queries :: How To Split Data Into Separate Columns

Nov 11, 2013

I have been given the task of organising a mail-merge with a sharepoint list, but the names and emails attached to each object are seperated by a delimiter. Furthermore each person is associated with many objects, and they want the merge programmed to only send 1 email to each person.

So what I need to do is split the data in one column into three separate columns, and then perform a concatenate. The concatenate isn't an issue, but how to split the data into 3 new columns within Access?

If worst comes to worst I'll tell them they will have to use the text-to-columns function in excel first, but would like to try and avoid that where possible.

Queries :: Using Controls From Separate Forms As Parameters In Same Query?

Mar 28, 2014

I have 3 forms that all use the same sub form. The 3 main forms show 3 different project types, where the sub form shows what other projects that a company is engaged with. Rather than create 3 different queries for my sub form, i would like to just filter it using criteria that looks at the CompanyID field on my 3 main forms. Currently my criteria is like this:

[Forms]![frmProjects_Detail_IND]![txtcompanyid] Or Like [Forms]![frmProjects_Detail_CSS]![txtcompanyid] Or Like [Forms]![frmProjects_Detail_TAP]![txtcompanyid]

Is there a way to ignore the parameters that are null?

Queries :: Create Separate Columns From Same Field And Table

Apr 9, 2013

I have 1 table that I duplicated to make 3 tables total. I did this b/c I am trying to create separate columns from the same field and table. The field is Workorder. Each workorder list the workorder number followed by a dash and then code. I am wanting to put all of the workorders with the same code in it's own column.

I have 5 codes that i am searching for. The first column list the workorder and a code (123456789-AD). The second column (123456789-BC). I'm good to this point but my problem occurs next.

The third column i am trying to put 3 types of workorder and it's code in the same column. As follows, (123456789-CD, 123456789-TC, and 123456789-PTC. However, when I do this it takes the results from the 3rd column and applies it to the 3rd column but also the 1st and 2nd column. I tried a UNION query and unless I am doing it incorrectly it does not work.

Queries :: Append Query - Using Date Range From Separate Table?

May 1, 2013

I have an database that uses a couple of different date ranges, so I created a table that shows the different date ranges that may be required (xReport Dates) so I didn't have to keep manually editing queries or entering dates every time.

I have one query that appends data from one table into another based on a date range that you need to manually enter when prompted; I can't seem to get it to refer to my xReport Dates table for the range.

Its currently set up as below:

Queries :: Merging Two Separate Databases With Duplicate As Well As Unique Information

Jun 12, 2013

Currently am trying to get together two separate Access Databases into one, which is the way it was always supposed to be.

Basically, this person accidentally created a duplicate of the database in question, and has been updating both independently at different times, meaning that whilst a lot of the database information is duplicate, there are some instances where each separate database copy has unique information on both existing contacts, and new unique contacts.

The database itself is about schools, and has tables concerning information such as calls made, contact details, school details, etc etc. Obviously all of this needs putting back together into one set of tables in one file.

I've been messing around with append and import functions, but am having issues with duplicate ID fields with append queries, and a general lack of direction on the best way to go about fixing this problem, if its even possible.

Here's an example of what i've been trying to do:

INSERT INTO Contacts ( ContactID, ContactTitle, Name, Surname, JobTitle, TelephoneSTD, Telephone, FaxSTD, Fax, Locale, SubjectKeyword, SchoolID, Reply received] )
SELECT [1Contacts].*, [1Contacts].ContactID, [1Contacts].ContactTitle, [1Contacts].Name, [1Contacts].Surname, [1Contacts].JobTitle, [1Contacts].TelephoneSTD, [1Contacts].Telephone, [1Contacts].FaxSTD, [1Contacts].Fax, [1Contacts].Locale, [1Contacts].SubjectKeyword, [1Contacts].SchoolID, [1Contacts].[Reply received]

Queries :: Method For Combining Crosstab Queries With Same Criteria From Multiple Fields?

Dec 2, 2014

I have 3 cross tab queries that are completely identical with the exception of the field that they pivot. Each field is searching for the same values just in different columns, with the end goal being to get the sum of the values for each pivoted column. I'm wondering rather than having 3 almost identical queries is there a way to use a crosstab to sum the values from each of the three fields rather that having 3 queries which then have to be aggregated in a fourth?

QUERY1

Code:
TRANSFORM
IIf(Count(PT_LEVEL.UNIT) Is Null,0,Count(PT_LEVEL.UNIT)) AS CountOfUNIT
SELECT
PT_LEVEL.INF_YEAR,
PT_LEVEL.INF_MONTH,
PT_LEVEL.UNIT

Queries :: Appointment Database - Query Most Recent Entry For Each Record In Separate Table

Jun 20, 2013

I have a database that is used to allocate appointments to our staff. It has 2 tables, one that lists the clients we need to call in that day, and another that stores details of each contact attempt. I'd like to design a query that find all clients who we have not dealt with so we can easily get their details in a list. I know what the criteria for the query would be, but I'm stuck for how to actually execute it. Here are the details.

Table tClients stores the current clients - primary key is named "clientRef"
Table tContactEvents stores each contact attempt and the date/time is stored in a field named "dateTime".

When an entry has been dealt with successfully a yes/no field named "completed" will be set to "Yes".

There may be many attempts to contact a specific client on a given day, unsuccessful attempts will not have the completed flag set.

Once the completed flag is set that client will be ignored so no further entries will appear.

So I need a query that searches tContactEvents for the most recent match to each number in tClients.clientRef and checks if the completed flag is set. If the completed flag is false, or if the number has no match (i.e. no contact attempts made yet) then the clientRef should be displayed. I also need this to be restricted to the current date, as the same client could have rebooked their appointment to a different day.

Queries :: Find Latest Date In A Table Where Dates Are In 2 Separate Columns And Multiple Rows

May 19, 2015

I am trying to find the latest date in a table where the dates are in 2 separate columns and multiple rows. (there are business reasons why there are 2 dates per row they represent different but comparable activities)

I have a table "Assessment tracker" with the following structure

Name Type
Candidate short text
Unit short text
EV1 Date Date
EV2 Date Date

My Data:

Candidate Unit EV1Date EV2 Date
TH1 10 07/05/2015 25/05/15
TH1 10 07/05/2015 07/06/15

I have a query "Candidate AC Dates" that compares the 2 dates EV1 and EV2 and outputs a 3rd column with the latest date.

Query:
PARAMETERS [Candidate Name] Value;
SELECT [Assessment Tracker].Candidate, [Assessment Tracker].Unit, [Assessment Tracker].[EV1 Date], [Assessment Tracker].[EV2 Date], Max(MaxDate([Assessment Tracker]![EV1 Date],[Assessment Tracker]![EV2 Date])) AS Achdate
FROM UnitData INNER JOIN [Assessment Tracker] ON UnitData.Unit = [Assessment Tracker].Unit

[Code]....

Output:

CandidateUnitEV1 DateEV2 DateAchdate
TH11007/05/2015 25/05/201525/05/2015
TH11007/05/2015 07/06/201507/06/2015

It does this by using a function shamelessly copied from the web somewhere...

Function Maxdate(ParamArray FieldArray() As Variant)
' Declare the two local variables.
Dim I As Integer
Dim currentVal As Date' Set the variable currentVal equal to the array of values.
currentVal = FieldArray(0)
' Cycle through each value from the row to find the largest.

[Code]....

This is working well (I think)

I then want to find the latest date for the 2 records i.e. the Max value for the Achdate.

Query:
SELECT [Candidate AC Dates].Candidate AS Expr1, [Candidate AC Dates].Unit AS Expr2, Max([Candidate AC Dates].Achdate) AS MaxOfAchdate
FROM [Candidate AC Dates]
GROUP BY [Candidate AC Dates].Candidate, [Candidate AC Dates].Unit
ORDER BY [Candidate AC Dates].Candidate, [Candidate AC Dates].Unit, Max([Candidate AC Dates].Achdate) DESC;

But this is returning

Candidate Unit MaxOfAchdate
TH1 1025/05/2015

I expect it to return

Candidate UnitMaxOfAchdate
TH1 10 07/06/2015

It looks to me like MAX is considering only the day value rather than the whole date. I suspect this is because it is considering the results of the function in the first query as a short text rather than a date field. (I've tried to force this through declaring the variables as dates but don't know where else to force this. (I am UK based hence the DD/MM/YYYY format)

Queries :: Search For Multiple Plot Numbers Preferably In One Parameter Prompt With Comma To Separate Numbers

Aug 12, 2014

I'm having multiple problems with my database like things such as -

i'm currently working on the Query 2 - On the Phone database (ignore Query 1) and i want to search for multiple plot numbers preferably in one parameter prompt with a comma to seperate numbers. (this could be a multitude of numbers so i would like to be able to input as many as needed). Also when i do search on this query since the Criteria is a 'Between' Value i would expect everything between the 2 numbers input to show up - but a lot of numbers out of the range show up too - why is this? (The Numbers are like "69 to 136" and they will show up - but 1-69 and 136-170 would too

I would also like to implement the search results from Query 2 into the Form i currently have made but it just opens up a access table when the search is made?

i cannot link my database as it is too big for the server - But here are the Criteria for Query 2:

Plot No - (criteria = Between [Enter First Plot No:] And [Enter Last Plot No:])
Site - (criteria = Like "*" & [Enter Site:] & "*")
Product - (criteria = Like "*" & [Enter Product:] & "*"

The Query is the one im most concerned about , i can live without a form.

Linking 2 Fields From 2 Separate Table.

May 11, 2005

Hi.. Junior access user here. Need help fast!

I created 2 tables. [General Info] & [Details]

[General Info] has 2 fields. Name(is a primary Key as well) & Organisation

[Details] has 4 fields. Primary Key, Name, No of products & Type

[Details] is a sub form for [General Info]

It is a one to many relationship. With Name from [General Info] linking to Name from [Details].

I can update via the table directly and [Details] links the name fields automatically. I created a form but the form just cannot register the field automatically and requires the user to type in the Name from [General Info].

I have attached the DB file. Pls help... your help is greatly appreciated!

Linking Fields In Separate Forms

Jan 4, 2007

I have a form with contact info, which also has a subform with other data on it. The subform is a continuous mode form. If I go to the "New" line (last line) of the continuous form, I can add information, and the records are linked via the customerID field on both the form and subform.

I want to have a button on that subform that says "New" that opens up a different form in a popup. I can do that part just fine, but when I try to enter data onto the popup form, the customerID field does not populate with the ID number of the person on the main form. It defaults to a value of "0".

So, is there a way to link the 2 forms like you can with forms and subforms? Or is there a way to have the customerID field in the popup form just populate based on the other form?

Not sure if this makes sense, but please help if you can. Thanks.

How To: Separate Data In One Field Into 2 Fields

Mar 18, 2005

I am new to Access and was wondering if there was a way to parse the data from a field into two fields.

I have a field named tName which contains both the first name and last name of a person.

How can I get the corrosponding last name into a new adjacent field called tLastName (this field doesn't exist yet)?

Thanks so much in advance,
Paul

P.S. What if the the person doesn't have a last name? or if they included a middle initial?
I know, it's messed up. This DB has a bad setup.
