I have a query to count the number of society members in a particular UK Postcode area. It works well for a single Postcode reference but adding further references to the Query Design View generates an 'or' or 'and' statement, rather than the additional counts that I need.
The SQL code I use for a single reference is : SELECT Count([Mail List].[PostCode]) AS CountofPostCodeH FROM [Mail List] WHERE ((([Mail List].PostCode) Like "BN5 ???"));
How do I amend this code to produce counts for multiple references in one query.
Here is a bit on an interesting one. I am currently designing a database and I would like to connect it to an apparantly existing bit of kit available in the uk that connects a pc serial port and the users telephone line. When someone calls, it will send the telephone number of the caller (if available) through to the pc. The database can then use this telephone number to retrieve the callers details, if they are held. Does anyone happen to know what these devices are called? I have looked on google for Caller Line Identifier Hardware etc but no joy. Thanks.
I'm a total newbie in Access....is there a way to format a field in a table for a phone number so that when you put the info in it automatically puts the dashes in between the area code and such?
I am trying to get a "formatted phone" number to appear on a "make table" query. I have revised the input mask properties to format the field to parantheses around the area code and a dash after the first three digits. The query works fine as long as I run a "Select Query" but when I change the query to a "Make Table" query, the new table does not come across with the telephone number in the correct ( )xxx-xxxx format! Using the Input Mask wizard, I've tried both options of storing the data and still get the same results. I do NOT want to have to go into this new table each time and reformat the telephone number as I'm sending the table directly to a switchboard in a different database. Any ideas on how to keep the formatted phone number intact?
the phone rings.. the phone is connected to the computer.. the incoming caller's phone number is sent to the database.. and then possibly used in some way..(eg in a query or displayed on the screen in the database)
anyone had any experience in this process or can recommend a phone/cable setup url...
I have the following VBA code to search for a string
Code: 'Search by Phone Private Sub CmdSearchPhones_Click() Me.Refresh strSQL = "SELECT Tbl_Contacts.ContactID, Tbl_Contacts.FName, Tbl_Contacts.LName, Tbl_Contacts.Address, Tbl_Contacts.City, Tbl_Contacts.State, Tbl_Contacts.Zip, Tbl_Contacts.HomePhone, Tbl_Contacts.WorkPhone,
[Code] .....
My issue is that this works 50/50, because phone numbers on the database are NOW being stored in this format (000) 000-0000 and previous DB phone numbers got stored as 0000000000. The above code finds previous DB phone numbers (even if we dont enter all 10 digits) without a problem but has issues with new phone numbers stored in the new format UNLESS I specify the search with (000) 000-0000 (but we want to be able to search without adding that and without typing all 10 digits - in case we forget part of the number we are looking for)
How can I tell my query to find both formats, with the (000) 000-0000 AND 0000000000 ....
I have a form that has a subform on it. The main form shows a category of furniture and has custom navigation buttons and a search text box for asset numbers and command button that runs the search. The subform shows the asset numbers associated with that furniture category, sometimes there is only one asset number, in other cases there could be 60. There is a scroll bar to scroll through the asset numbers when there are too many to see in the initial window.
The buttons all work as they should except when I search for an asset number that is part of a category that has too many asset numbers to show in the main window. When this happens the "previous" and "next" navigation buttons do not take you to the previous or next record. All of the other buttons on the form work though - you can go to the first, or the last record, and you can search for a new asset.This is the code for the search:
Code:
Private Sub cmdAssetSearch_Click() Dim rs As Object If IsNull(Me.TextAsset) Or Me.TextAsset = "" Then MsgBox "Please type in an asset number to search for.", vbOKOnly Me.TextAsset.SetFocus
[code]....
I've also attached a picture of what I mean when I say there are more asset numbers than what the window shows.
Can anyone help me please. I have a telephone field that has been imported from many different databases and the format is different in some cases and i need to have all of the fields the same as in 00000000000 in other words no spaces or brackets. Some of the numbers are (00000) 000000 or (00000)000000 or 00000000000 or 00000 000000 and finally some are blank I can't seem to get the code correct to achieve what I need.
I have got a query which gives me the following output;
Nr ----------- area ------- area 2 ---------- holler 14-1096-------1------------1-----------------5.9 14-1097-------2------------2-----------------7.8 14-1100-------1------------1-----------------13.4 14-1101-------2------------2-----------------7.8
What i would like to do is to calculate the sum of holler when they are in the same area.So the sum of nr 14-1096 + 14-1100 and 14-1097 + 14-1101. Ive tried to do the following;I tried to do the following just to check it would even work;
Code: test: (SELECT Sum([holler]) FROM querytoetsn2hr_gemiddelde_filter WHERE ((querytoetsn2hr_gemiddelde_filter.area)=("1")))
Which worked perfectly, it gave me 19.3..
Code: test: (SELECT Sum([holler]) FROM querytoetsn2hr_gemiddelde_filter WHERE ((querytoetsn2hr_gemiddelde_filter.area)=(querytoetsn2hr_gemiddelde_filter.area2)))
That gave me the sum of all 4 the Nrs. Which makes sense, because you basically say that as long as area and area are the same calculate the sum of holler.if there is a way to say "sum of holler when area has the same value".
SELECT [tblCallTracking].[PKCallID], [tblCallTracking]![PhoneNumber] & "," & [tblCallTracking]![LastName] & "," & [tblCallTracking]![FirstName] AS Expr2 FROM tblCallTracking;
I have this code in an unbound combo box. It does bring the info into the combo box properly, but when i select the record I want to use, it doesnt populate the form with the correct record.
does anyone know if it is possible to add a post code checker/search to access, if so do you know of one which works. I want to be able to bring up an addess by post code/house number in the UK
:(I have a Customer Order form with a Order Detail sub form, The problem I have is that using the productID Combo, IT shows all 6000 products, I need a way to MANUALY enter the ProductID which then will find the relevant record and fill in the rest of the fields in the Sub Detail Order Form.
Hi everyone. I have the following code attached to a text box.
Private Sub txtsearch_AfterUpdate() Me.lstsearch.RowSource = "Select [R&D ID#], [SKU#], [Project Name], [Construction level], [Manufacturer], [Hobbico Status], [R&D Work By], [Product Manager], [Desktopper]" & _ "From [Project Main]" & _ "Where [Project Name] like '*" & Me.txtsearch & "*'" & _ "OR [SKU#] like '*" & Me.txtsearch & "*'" & _ "OR [R&D Work By] like '*" & Me.txtsearch & "*'" & _ "OR [Product Manager] like '*" & Me.txtsearch & "*'" & _ "OR [Desktopper] like '*" & Me.txtsearch & "*'" & _ "OR [R&D ID#] like '*" & Me.txtsearch & "*'" Me.lstsearch.Requery End Sub
This code searched for matching text strings in a few different filed. It is working really well, but it would become much more helpful if instead of searching one single text string, I could enter two in the same box and it would perform the search based on matching both strings, that is, list all the records that have xxxx and xxxx in any of the fields checked.
I currently have a database with a few search forms. I recently attempted to add a box on one of my search forms to search 3 cells of a record for a key word. What happens is when I go to search, say for P0442, it does not bring up all of the records that contain that keyword in the 3 cells I have outlined. If I step down the code in the OR boxes of the query, it seems to work better but then for some reason my other search criteria , (Tracking number etc) does not work. I will upload the database for reference. I am currently working on the Search(View Only) and that is where you will find the query to work on.
I have a search form that uses a query to show results of a search, but everytime I press search everything comes up even though I have entered search parameters, even though my search requeries every time and the search used to work before I added new records today. Also when I press the query alone on the navigation pane it asks me for the parameters and then it actually works but it won't when I use my form.
I would like to have a button in a form that the end user clicks and they then enter the name of the tif file they are looking for and on pressing enter the file is searched for and if found it is automatically opened up for them to see, if it is not found then a message "File Not Found" is displayed.
I Believe that I will need something like this:
Code:
Dim FS As FileSystemObject Dim filenum As Integer Dim tmp As String Dim Folder As Folder Dim subFolder As Folder Dim File As File
[Code] .....
It's when I get to this point that I've got stuck, I don't know how to structure the code required to do the search and on finding the tif file open it.
An example tif file I might search for is: 0H214_2CJ0001905.tif.
Staff are monitored to make sure they are keeping up to date with our customers. A customer can have multiple projects going through the factory at any one time. Each customer has a record per project and a 'general' record. Ideally we would like our staff to be able to move the 'general' record when they update a project record as opposed to either having to find and then update the general record after, or forgetting and calling the customer again 2 days later!
Including a msgbox for the EnqNum seems to show the general record correctly, however being new to access I am unsure if I have the update part correct.
Code: If Me.chkMoveGen.Value = "-1" Then Dim EnqNum As Integer EnqNum = DLookup("[e_id]", "tblEnquiries", "[c_id]=" & Me.txtc_id & " and [e_status] = " & "13") DoCmd.RunSQL "UPDATE tblEnquiries " & _ " SET e_date_due=#" & Format(Me.txte_date_due, "MM/DD/YYYY") & "#" & _ " WHERE e_id= EnqNum"
I have a form with four combo box that will search for a record, as follow:
Field Name "Printer" , DataType "Text" Field Name Month" , DataType "Text" Field Name "Year" , DataType "Number" Field Name "Day" , DataType "Number"
code for Find Record Button:
If Not IsNull(ID) And Trim(ID) <> "" Then StrSQL = StrSQL & " And [Id] = " & [ID] End If
If Not IsNull([txtname]) And Trim([txtname]) <> "" Then If InStr([txtname], "*") = 0 Then
StrSQL = StrSQL & " And [Name] = '" & [txtname] & "'" Else StrSQL = StrSQL & " And [Name] like '" & [txtname] & "'" End If End If
'================================'
If Not IsNull([txtyear]) And Trim([txtyear]) <> "" Then
If InStr([txtyear], "*") = 0 Then
StrSQL = StrSQL & " And [Year] = '" & [txtyear] & "'" Else StrSQL = StrSQL & " And [Year] like '" & [txtyear] & "'" End If
End If
'================================'
If Not IsNull([txtmonth]) And Trim([txtmonth]) <> "" Then
If InStr([txtmonth], "*") = 0 Then
StrSQL = StrSQL & " And [Month] = '" & [txtmonth] & "'" Else StrSQL = StrSQL & " And [Month] like '" & [txtmonth] & "'" End If
End If
'================================'
If Not IsNull([txtday]) And Trim([txtday]) <> "" Then
If InStr([txtday], "*") = 0 Then StrSQL = StrSQL & " And [Day] = '" & [txtday] & "'" Else StrSQL = StrSQL & " And [Day] like '" & [txtday] & "'" End If
End If
'================================'
This is only a part of the code, I have a problem with year and day since they are numbers not text I was told that i cant use this line:
StrSQL = StrSQL & " And [Month] like '" & [txtmonth] & "'"
I was told that there is no need to use "like", am not really sure how to do it, any help will be appreciated.
