Queries :: Timesheet Database - Query To Find Pending Submission?
Jul 8, 2013
I have developed a Timesheet database,
1) I have main table "tbltimsheet" which contains all the raw data enter by employees
2) I have employee info table "tblempinfo" Which contains all the employes information
3) Employee will submit timesheet on weekly. Under "tbltimesheet" i have a field for recording workweek
4) Now i need to find out who are all haven't submit the timesheet and for which week
5) I can find those who haven't submit timesheet but i need to know submission status of employee for every week.

I'm creating a job/timesheet database and have a problem...
I have a main timesheets table that includes every job/piece of work thats been done (sometimes multiples for each employee each day). Each record contains a ref to the employee, ref to the contract, ref to the type of work, time taken and date.
There are then various tables that support the main table, which provide actual employee names etc.
I want to produce a query that provides the number of hours undertaken on each day of a particular week for each employee. So I'd have one row for each employee from the employees table, then a field for the sum hours for Monday through Friday.
The way I was going about this was
- to create five query's for the main timesheets table that would limit the entries to the five days in question - Monday-Friday. That worked fine.
- to then create a query that takes the employee name and using each of the five day based queries perform a Sum Total on the time field to give me the total hours worked for each day for each employee. That also worked fine, but the trouble is it removes any null values. So, if I only include the first day there might be 80 employees listed, but when I include the second day as well that goes down to 72 - presumably as 8 employees who entered timesheets for day 1 didn't for day 2. By the time I add all five days, I have almost no employees. I assumed that there would be a query level property to set, but i can't see one.
Also, is there a simpler way to do what I want? If I can get this working I'd like to replicate to breakdown by contract, job type etc in the same way as I have with employees.

I am creating a student database. I have crated a single table for this database and a form. Two combo boxes. I have created these two combo boxes named (Documents Submitted and Documents pending).
These two boxes I created using "Lookup coloumn". I selected "I will type in the values that I want" for both the boxes. After I filled the values in both as (CV, Ielts, Passport Copy, Certificates, photo id). After this I gave the name and selected "Allow multiple values".
Now in my form it shows both the combo boxes and in both the boxes it shows CV, Ielts etc. I can select multiple Items in both the boxes. I hope I am clear up to here.
Now at this point these two boxes (Document Submitted and Documents pending) are showing items (documents names) separately. What I want is to combine the values of both. I want to do is, if I select "CV, IELTS, passport copy" in document submitted box, rest of the pending names (Photo ID, Certificates) should automatically be filled in Document pending box. What ever I didn't select in Document submitted box should appear in Document pending box.
For better understanding i am attaching my file with it.

hiya, just posted a message today.
Problem, ive got a work database which employees logon to and enter time against certain projects they have been working on. What i need is to somehow create some code that will look at each of the employees names and sum up there total time for the previous day. If this is less than say 6 hours of timesheets or even zero entries have been made, I want a pop up message to pop up as soon as they logon to the datatbase the next day and jsut mention they need to fill in there timesheets.
At the moment each person when they log on to the database has there name they logged in as, placed into a field (called "First Name") within form (called "Employee Startup Screen"). *** maybe use this as a way to identify who is logged on and when to run the code.***
Timesheet table has the following columns:
Employee; Date; ProjectID; Timespent
PLEASE help im a noob at this and have tried using some code on a query that sums up the previous days times filter on a employee. When the "Employee Startup Screen" opens it runs the following code
Dim internal1 As Integer
internal1 = Me.SumOfTimeSpent
If internal1 < 6 Then
MsgBox " Less than 6 hours have been entered " & Chr(13) & " into your timesheet for yesterday. ", vbCritical, Title1
ElseIf DCount("*", Me.SumOfTimeSpent) <> 0 Then
end if
End Sub
----------------------------
BUT it doesnt work if no entries have been made on the timesheet as the query result is blank.
ANY help would be muchly appreciated.
Thanks Keith

I'm building a simple time sheet database for a friend of mine.
I know that im going to have trouble checking there amount against the tax table and taking there tax out to finalise the amount they would actually get.
So basically im an intermediate access user, how would i get the database to do this when i press like a calculate tax button..???

I'm trying to create a timesheet database to keep track of employee hours worked. I have my tables set up as follows...
Employee_T
PK -EmployeeID
PositionTitle
Last Name
First Name
Employer
Projects_T
PK-ProjectID
ProjectNumber
ProjectName
WBS
Timesheet_T
PK-TimesheetID
FK - EmployeeID
FK - ProjectID
Sat
Sun
Mon
Tues
Wedn
Thurs
Fri
WeekEnding
My question is on my input form I want to have the user/employee pick his name once in a header combo box as-well as the week ending date and have it populate to every new record that user input (each employee can charge to multiple projects in a week so I want to eliminate the need for them to pick their name and week ending date everytime they select a different job charge.)
John Doe Week Ending 12-20-2013

I have a timesheet database, which has the exact start time and exact end time. I want to ignore this if it is five minutes either side of the half hour, and display the exact half hour, but otherwise want to round it UP to the nearest fifteen minutes.
For example:
Exact Start: 09:58:23 Displays as: 10:00:00
Exact Start: 09:42:16 Displays as: 09:45:00
Exact Start: 09:02:08 Displays as: 09:00:00
Exact Start: 09:07:01 Displays as: 09:15:00
Exact Start: 09:23:03 Displays as: 09:30:00
Exact Start: 09:33:00 Displays as: 09:30:00
Exact Start: 09:36:04 Displays as: 09:45:00

I am modifying an inventory database and the first change I made was to split it. The major forms for this is an intake form to enter the inventory and a work sheet to identify the open items to be worked including the fields used to close the items. After the split the intake form started changing a time field. To be clear on this; this is not a calculated field. The person entering the inventory manually enters the time in which the item was recieved. When the record is saved (or rather when the Add New Record button is pushed) the time field gets changed to something seemingly random.
Could this be some kind of conflict due to both forms being bound to the same table and being use simultaneously? These forms would never be used by the same user at the same time. Also, why would this become an issue only after splitting the database?

Hello All,
I'm trying to run a UNION query that joins five queries through a MS WorkSpace into a DAO.recordset in VB. I'm pulling the data from a SQL Server Database through VB in Access. I'm attempting to open a recordset with a query passed to it as a string. The query is below. For some reason, I'm receiving a message: "MS Jet database engine cannot find the input table or query. Runtime Error 3078".
Here's what's puzzling. When I run a single query without any UNION statement, the code finds the table and runs fine without error, but anytime I join two or more queries with a UNION statement in the VB, it gives me the error.
I've executed the same UNION query in both Access Query Builder and SQL Server's Query Analyzer and they work fine in both environments. It's only when I call the query from a DAO.Recodset with VB that it causes this problem. The following is a sample of the UNION query joining two of the five queries. Does anyone have any idea what could be the problem? The following query executes in about 5 seconds so I don't think there's a "time-out" issue. I'm thinking that the UNION statement may be the culprit. Maybe there's another way to approach joining these separate queries? Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks.

I am after getting an access 2003 database to look after and it contains SQL pass through query's. The database is a front end to a MS SQL server database with a connection string that is contained in a module.
I believe the SQL pass through queries are connecting to the same database as the rest of the application and somehow is using the connection string in the module. However I cannot find how that is configured on the SQL pass through queries.
Most documentation on the net seems to point at using ODBC to connect slq pass through queries to outside databases but I don't think this is the case. There are not Odbc sources set up for the database I am look at.

I have a find duplicates query with the following SQL:
Code:
SELECT tblData.Vendor, tblData.[Loccurramount EUE], tblData.Last4, tblData.ID, tblData.Line, tblData.CoCd, tblData.[Document record number], tblData.PurchDoc, tblData.Reference, tblData.Curr, tblData.[Entry dte], tblData.Status, tblData.Version, tblData.Outcome
FROM tblData
WHERE (((tblData.Vendor) In (SELECT [Vendor] FROM [tblData] As Tmp GROUP BY [Vendor],[Loccurramount EUE],[Last4] HAVING Count(*)>1 And [Loccurramount EUE] = [tblData].[Loccurramount EUE] And [Last4] = [tblData].[Last4])))
ORDER BY tblData.Vendor, tblData.[Loccurramount EUE], tblData.Last4;
This works fine however I want to add another clause to the WHERE and I'm not sure how. At the moment the query highlights duplicates where the Vendor, Loccurramount EUE and Last4 match. I want to further restrict it so that it only finds duplicates where the Vendor, Loccurramount EUE and Last4 match BUT the number shown in version Does Not Match
So if two records have the same details for Vendor, Loccurramount EUE and Last4 and also have the same Version number then they don't show in the result.

2 112 1
3 113 2

5 112 2
6 113 2
7 111 1
8 112 0
9 113 -1
10 111 2
11 112 1
12 113 -1
13 111 1
14 112 -1
15 113 1
16 111 1
17 112 1
18 113 0
I have three machines. They all have random variations, but a machine could also have a static deviation. If the last 4 values are above 0, the deviation is considered static and should be corrected. In this example 111 has a static deviation
Nowadays the operators look at the graphs and when they observe the static deviation they will adjust it.
Question is: Is it possible to use a query to extract 111? In that case I can give operator a warning in stead of him looking at the graph.

I used the wizard to create a find duplicates query. I know for a fact that 15 records are duplicates. I'm getting over 300 records. When I dumped the data into Excel and did a pivot table to count the number of records by account number only 15 had a total count of 2. All others only had 1. Why are the ones with no duplicates showing? I just want to see the 15.

I have ASSET_TYPE, MANUFACTURER and MODEL tables.
I have a Table ASSET_COMBO that links to the above tables.
I have a form to create amend an ASSETS table. The form uses combo fields to filter the options available to the user. I.E the User Picks Manufacturer then selects from list of Asset Types provided by that Manufacturer, then selects from list of Models.
I want to create a form to allow create and amend records on the ASSET_COMBO Table.
The problem I have is that I want to ensure that there are no duplicates on ASSET_COMBO Table. I know that I can Select Multiple keys from the table with no duplicates allowed. But from what I have read this can cause problems. Is there a simple way that I can detect that a query on the ASSET_COMBO Table has returned a valid record or has not found a record.

I need constructing a find unmatched query. I don't really know what I'm doing with SQL and I think that I can only take things so far with query design view.
I have two tables. T_Productions and ProPro (see attached). In Access query design, I can only specify one matching criteria. I need a query that will show me records from T_Productions that don't have matching Production_Code (PpNum in ProPro), Avantage_Product_Code (PpPrNum in ProPro) and Step (PpEtape in ProPro) in ProPro.
What I have now only gives me the records where Avantage_Product_Code don't match PpPrNum.
Code:
SELECT T_Productions.ID, T_Productions.Production_Code, T_Productions.Avantage_Product_Code, T_Productions.Step, T_Productions.Quantity_Required
FROM T_Productions LEFT JOIN ProPro ON T_Productions.[Avantage_Product_Code] = ProPro.[PpPrNum]
WHERE (((ProPro.PpPrNum) Is Null));

I have a database where part of it consists of an Item table and a Formula table. There is a many-to-many relationship between them so I created a junction table for this purpose.
Tables
tblItem
tblFormula
tblFormula_Item_JNT
There is a column in tblFormula called [Priority] that is a lookup field. It has the values of "High", "Medium", "Low".
So here's what I'm trying to do: I have a query that searches against tblItem for all Items that have a value of No/False for a field called Item_Status. That's simple enough. But I also want to show the Priority of the Formula that the Item belongs to. When I add that to my initial query I get multiple results of the same Item if it belongs to more than one Formula, which I understand. But I really want an Item to show up only once.
I want the query to go through each Item (based on its Item_ID), look through all the Formulas it's in, and if at least one of those Formulas has a Priority of "High" then it will display "High" in a field (could be a calculated field) in the query results. If there are no "High" Priority Formulas, then look for if there are any "Medium" Priority Formulas, etc.
