why isn't my Access giving me warning before runing the delete, append or update query because usually it warns you that you are about to append, update or delete the following number of records. It must be the settings, can someone help!
I have a table that has a list of tasks and checkboxes attached to them to be checked once the task is completed. I need to run a query on the table that will only bring me back the tasks with a completion that is false.
Everything that I read online indicates that this is a difficult task for access. Maybe I can accomplish this in SQL view instead of design? If I put false is all of the yes/no fields, the query brings back nothing.
I am using a update query to update a table from another table. This query however will works only if I set the allowzerolength to yes in the table design otherwise validation error message will appear. This means that I cannot use the "Is Null " anymore because this empty space " " can appear. Is there any a way i can filter out those empty fields in the query design then? Thank you for your help.
I have 3 queries that I need to join. the 3 queries work on their own. They are all similar to below
SELECT TOP 5 ASTDATA.[ID], ASTDATA.[Weight], ASTDATA.[StockCode], ASTDATA.[CurrentQty], Rnd([ID]) AS Expr1 FROM ASTDATA ORDER BY Rnd([ID]);
But when I join them, like below, the data doesn't change. Does the rnd function work with a union query?
SELECT TOP 5 ASTDATA.[ID], ASTDATA.[Weight], ASTDATA.[StockCode], ASTDATA.[CurrentQty], Rnd([ID]) AS Expr1 FROM ASTDATA UNION SELECT TOP 5 BSTDATA.[ID], BSTDATA.[Weight], BSTDATA.[StockCode], BSTDATA.[CurrentQty], Rnd([ID]) AS Expr1 FROM BSTDATA UNION SELECT TOP 5 CSTDATA.[ID], CSTDATA.[Weight], CSTDATA.[StockCode], CSTDATA.[CurrentQty], Rnd([ID]) AS Expr1 FROM CSTDATA
TRANSFORM Sum([rpt LEAD TYPE SUCCESS RATE2].rec_cnt) AS SumOfrec_cnt SELECT [rpt LEAD TYPE SUCCESS RATE2].Internal_Rep, [rpt LEAD TYPE SUCCESS RATE2].Lead, [rpt LEAD TYPE SUCCESS RATE2].Start_Date, [rpt LEAD TYPE SUCCESS RATE2].End_Date FROM [rpt LEAD TYPE SUCCESS RATE2] GROUP BY [rpt LEAD TYPE SUCCESS RATE2].Internal_Rep, [rpt LEAD TYPE SUCCESS RATE2].Lead, [rpt LEAD TYPE SUCCESS RATE2].Start_Date, [rpt LEAD TYPE SUCCESS RATE2].End_Date PIVOT [rpt LEAD TYPE SUCCESS RATE2].Results;
I get valid results.
When I run the form it prompts me 3 times for each start date and end date. Then I get the following error :The Microsoft Access database engine does not recognize '' as a valid field name or expression.
SELECT tbl_Visits.vst_VisitDate, tbl_Visits.vst_Complaint, tbl_Visits.vst_Diagnosis FROM tbl_Visits WHERE (((tbl_Visits.vst_Complaint) Like "*asthma*")) OR (((tbl_Visits.vst_Diagnosis) Like "*asthma*"));
returns records with no occurrences of asthma. about 4 of 638 hits.
I am building an access database for my college project and I essentially have a quotation form that when I click a button 'Convert to Invoice' it creates a new record in the invoice table and then creates new records in the invoice details table which match the quotation details table. This is working as it should but for only the first 2 customers in my customer table?
On the quote form I have a combo box which is linked to the customer table and updates the quote table based on the selection. If I select customer 1 or 2 and click 'convert to invoice' it works and opens an invoice form based on the inserted data however if I select any other customer it returns an error that the record wasn't added to the table due to key violations?
As far as I can tell I am not trying to update the primary keys in the Invoice Table or the Invoice Details Tables.
I have developed a database which has required many checkbox fields to enable analysis. It requires to have the facility to input random/variable date ranges for statistical purposes.
I have built a query which obtains the counts of multiple fields using the following parameters in Query Builder in Access 2010. Although this comes up with the correct results for these multiple fields when I try introduce date range the results come up blank for all results.
An example of the parameters used for one of the checkbox fields in Query Builder is as follows:
Field: SumAnger: Sum([Anger]*-1) Table: Default as only one table Total: Expression Show: Checked
This works fine.
My latest parameters for the date range are this:
Field: [cDate] Table: Default as only one table Total: WHERE Corrected! Whoops Copy & Paste Typo. Too early AM! Show: Checked or Unchecked makes no difference Criteria: Between [From Date:] And [To Date:]
This gives a statement in SQL view of:
SELECT Sum([Anger]*-1) AS SumAnger, Sum([Anxiety]*-1) AS SumAnxiety, Sum([Depression]*-1) AS SumDepression, Sum([Listening]*-1) AS SumListenig, Sum([Psychosis]*-1) AS SumPsychosis, Sum([Stress]*-1) AS SumStress, Sum([Other]*-1) AS SumOther, tblCommsLog.[cDate] FROM tblCommsLog WHERE (((tblCommsLog.[cDate]) Between [From Date:] And [To Date:]));
what I need to get this to work in Query Builder or failing that recommend some VBA script/code with embedded SQL to achieve the required report.
I have a calculated field (Bhours) with the following IIf function:
=IIf(Fields!BDate.Value<=Parameters!Pdate.Value and Fields!EDate.Value>Parameters!Pdate.Value,Fields!H ours.Value,0)
It works perfectly, but I don't like the fact that it has a zero for the false part as I like the field to the blanc instead of filled with a zero.I can't use a space as I need to calculate with this field later on. I tried using "", but then the field displays #error".
I have a report where my customer wants to be able to input a value and then be able to select whether the report shows values above or below that value. I have a combo box that has 2 values (1=Less than or equal to, 2=greater than or equal to). There is a text box where he inputs the rate to compare against (e.g. $75). When he hits submit, the application stores the values of the combo box and text box into global variable and then I have a public function that can be used to retrieve the values. GetHRate() gets the value to compare against and GetHRateCompare() gets the value to indicate <=(1) or >=(2).
In my query for criteria for rate I have this expression: IIf(GetHRateCompare()=1,"'<=",">=") & GetHrate()
I've tried every combination of double quotes, single quotes, no quotes moving the GetHRate inside the IIf statement and nothing seems to work.
If I just hardcode <=GetHrate() into the criteria it works perfect but that does not achieve my goal of letting him select over/under at run time. Here's the full query:
SELECT qryCustomers_AverageTimeByScheduleID.ServiceName, qryCustomers_AverageTimeByScheduleID.ScheduleID, qryCustomers_AverageTimeByScheduleID.SumOfTotalTim e, qryCustomers_AverageTimeByScheduleID.PropertyID, qryCustomers_AverageTimeByScheduleID.PropertyName, qryCustomers_AverageTimeByScheduleID.MonthCount, qryCustomers_AverageTimeByScheduleID.AverageTime,
Periodoically, the "Save Changes?" warning that pops when closing a query whose design has changed stops popping up, and the changes are automatically saved. I've tried going into the immediate window to change SetWarnings to True, but that doesn't fix the issue. (Further, I've scoured my code for instances of "DoCmd.SetWarnings False" to make sure that they are always followed by a "Docmd.SetWarnings True" in the Exit lines.
I've tried searching a number of different sights, and all I can find are instances of people talking about wanting to disable the Query Action warnings, which I don't want to do. I just want to be able to fiddle with queries, but then close them without saving in case I butcher something. I could create a copy of the query and fiddle with that, but I shouldn't have to...
Hey guys- I have 2 tables I am working with. The first one is the raw data I am importing (tbImport)- it includes records that are NEW, as well as records that are existing in the 2nd table. Some of the existing records will have updated info in this table, and will need the corresponding records updated as such.
The 2nd table is the main database table. It holds pre-existing records (tbListing).
I have read that I can do a RIGHT JOIN on an UPDATE query, and it will not only update the existing records, but- will append any new records to the tbListing table. I'm running the query- and it's saying that it's going to return/update ZERO records. There are 28,000+ records that will need to be updated at this time. What is going on here? WHy won't it update?
Currently, there are NO records in the pre-existing DB (I realize that this should just cause it to append all the new records on it- but tomorrow's update will append AND update at the same time).
I have the Primary Key set and matched in both tables (LN2 & MLS). Here's the LOOOONG SQL... Can you help me out here? I'm very frustrated! THANK YOU!!!
I have a query that shows banned users (I work in a school). When a student's ban has ended, a tick box is checked in a form linked to tblBannedUsers to show they are no longer banned.
The query itself simply queries all records in tblBannedUsers with a username field (UserID) taking search criteria from a box on a form.
However, I want to filter out the students that are no longer banned (those with a tick in the checkbox). To do this, I thought it would be a simple case of editing the query, and in the Ban Lifted field criteria, use =False to say I only want those records with a tick.
This doesn't work and I still get all records given the combo box filter (which are just filtering for a username...if I leave it blank it gives all records via Is Null).
What should I be putting in the criteria to filter out those records with a ticked checkbox?
Thanks,
Steve Swallow
EDIT: I've just done a test query and <B>No</B> is the criteria to use, but when I use this criteria in my query which also take data from a form's combo box it ignore the <B>No</No> criteria.
I'm trying to limit the records on a subform via an option group selection. The group has 2 options: optionTrue (option value = 1) and optionFalse (optio value = 2). I have the following code in my query criteria of the true/false field.
IIf([Forms]![FrmHome]![frameProcessed]=1,-1,0)
The false part works, but the true part doesn't. I've tried many variations using true/false, using checkboxes, etc. and nothing works.
The database is SQL Server if that matters.
Any suggestions?
Also, is their a way to have an option for True or False or ALL?
I'm really not sure how to go about this. I'm creating a course booking system and when creating a booking I need to check for current bookings with the same employee and course id's (i.e. the employee is already booked on the course). The query takes the employee and course id's from a form, and is initialised when the 'book' button is pressed. It correctly selects if the person is already booked on the course but I want the query to return a value to the form i.e. if it returns null/false then the booking can be created but if it returns a record/true then the booking already exists and a message box can be displayed.
I'm not sure if I'm going about this the right way, can anyone suggest how this can be done as described above or suggest a better way of doing the task?
I like having the action query warning appear with what I am doing - "You are about to update xxx rows". The problem that I am having is that when my RunSQL statement in the code executes and selects no to the warning, I get the error -
Run-time Error '2501' The RunSQL action was canceled.
How can I trap the no selection so that this vba error does not appear?
I run a physical therapy office and patients come in for treatment either 3, 4 or 5 times per week. My database is used to track these frequencies (among other things).
I have 3 queries which count how many patients come in 5, 4 and 3 times/week.
In my main table I have fields called "how many 5's", "how many 4's" and "how many 3's".
I have tried to design an update query which will update those fileds in my main table to reflect the counts in the 3 queries mentioned above.
(I'm not using SQL view, I'm using the query design view)
In the "update to:" row, I use the Build function and locate the count I'm looking for.
Problem: when I run the query I get the error: Operation must use an updateable query.
I am facing problem regarding updating of certain field of table. For example i would like to take data from a column of Table1 and would like insert that data into particular column in Table2.
Suppose Table One has data:
Table 1 ID Name amount 1 a 0 34 b 0 3 ab 0
Table2 ID Name amount 34 a 400 1 b 900 3 ab 4500
There are about 2000 records in each table.I would like to update column "Amount" of Table1 by taking data from Table2 "Amount" Field. how can i update the amount column by keeping the ID field?
im working on an update query (written in VB coding) for one of my tables, for now im just setting the value to 1 (as currently all the data is set to 0, so for now it works), however id like to improve upon the query and get it to add 1 every time instead of setting it to 1 (i can work with it the way it is, but changing it would give me more info)
currently its at DoCmd.RunSQL "UPDATE tblBatches SET tblBatches.batchCarryover = 1;"
I have 2 tables that hold similar data. In one table tblMultiSchedule I have a few blank columns. I want to update each column(ActualCost*) with the correct data which is stored in tblOrdersItems. the corresponding fields in each tbl are
possible to have an update query to only update 20 rows with a new data in the fields? And, how do I pass the information that I want to update only data from a certain date.If I have the word Cat and want to update it to Dog, but only with the dates 12-01-2014, where do I need to put the date part (also possible to do this for dates that are greater than 12-01-2014).
Now I have huge data from tbl_bill which contains mix PONumber depends on type. If bill_type is type1 then it will get data from tbl_type1 table and vise versa. the problem is tbl_type1 and tbl_type2 is changing, when someone update this table then the data in tbl_bill will not match to 2 tables.
Now, i need an update query where I can update all records of tbl_bill to match with tbl_type1 and tbl_type2 PONumber.
I have created the tables I need for my Access Web App.I would like to create queries.I cannot update fields that show in the query (fields have a grey frame and cannot be edited) . I have even created a completely new app with only 1 table (no relationships whatsoever in case this may influence). It is still not possible to edit any field in a query (that would update the underlying table). Are there any general settings in Access I need to enable? Is there a setting in Sharepoint I need to enable?
