I have a query that takes a value, Proposalvalue, and depending on the currency, loc curr, it calculates the currency. It gets the currency value from the currencies table and appends to TableB
eg.
proposalvalue currency
50000 1
Currencies
id Value
1 0.6587
This creates the conversionvalue = 32935 in the TableB.
I have a form that can viewedit the data in TableB.
Using this form, I want to be able to change the proposalvalue and for it to automatically update the conversionvalue.
Client records from tblClient contain a field called Client_CID (Primary Key), as the Client ID. There are also fields Client_HIGH_FILE_NO, a numeric value of the last case number assigned to the specific client and Client_PREFIX that contain a unique three letter prefix that identifies the client.
Case records from tblCase contain a field called Case_CFN (Primary Key), as the Case File Number. tblCase also contains a field called Client_CID that contains the Client ID associated with the case (obtained from a combo box lookup from tblClient).
My form is frmCase bound to tblCase.
The Case_CFN is constructed by combining the value of the selected Client_CID’s Client_PREFIX with the value of Client_HIGH_FILE_NO plus 1.
I am constructing the Case_CFN on the before update event of the combo box for selecting the client. The resulting Case_CFN may appear as follows
ABC10001
Where Client_PREFIX = “ABC” and Client_HIGH_FILE_NO = 10000
Now, I need to increment Client_HIGH_FILE_NO in tblClient by 1, meaning I need to set the value of Client_HIGH_FILE_NO for the selected Client_CID to, in this example, to 10001.
Questions:
1) Is anyone familiar with this type of number scheme generally and if so any ideas?
2) Can anyone tell me how to update the value Client_HIGH_FILE_NO for the selected Client_CID?
I have 100 records in a table with a field that does not have a default value specified. If I specify a default value is there an easy way to have all the records updated with the new value without writing an update query?
I am currently working on an instrument datebase, I have a mainquery that takes care of user inputs from a form. The main fields that have been queried on are Type, System, and Manufacturer and they are all look-up fields that contain some null values.
On the same criteria row for these fields, I have
Like IIf([forms]![User Interface].[qtype2]="","*",[forms]![User Interface].[qtype2]) Like IIf([forms]![User Interface].[qsys2]="","*",[forms]![User Interface].[qsys2]) Like IIf([forms]![User Interface].[qman1]="","*",[forms]![User Interface].[qman1])
qtype, qsys and qman are the user inputs from the user interface that returns look-up table values.
This works fine when all 3 of these fields are all filled out for a certain instrument. The problem arise when some fields of the instrument are left blank or is null. The instrument won't show up in a query at all. What I wanted it to do is to show everything including the ones with null fields when the user input are null or "". When the user specifies certain requirement I only want to show the ones that are not null. I understand that putting them on the same row means AND, I have tried to OR them and did not have the result i wanted.
Let's say Table (T1) has fields F1 and F2. After a massive update to T1, there are some records with F1 = "" because a Dlookup using F2 as criteria to another Table (T2) resulted in a null. I created a select query to show unique T1F2 values where T1F1 = "". The user can use this query to find out which F2 values need to be added to T2.
How do I create an update query that will update T1F1 with values from T2 using the T1F2 results from the select query to again use the Dlookup to T2 (of course after T2 has been updated to contain the missing F2's)?
I have a field called density which needs to be updated to show either 10, 20, 30, 40, 50,60, 70 or 80 depending on a number of variables, for example: If market location is 'hot' and unit type is 'house' and discounted is 'no' then show '10' in the density box.
or perhaps:
If market location is 'cold' and unit type is 'apartment' and discounted is 'no' then show '20' in the density box.
I have tried all sorts of expressions and queries but have really reached the limit of my know how and can't solve it. Is it even possible to do this in Access?
I am working on form where the user selects either "IN" or "OUT" from a dropdown of field name "CheckOut" in Frm1.
If they select "OUT" they will in turn need to fill in 2 additional fields. When they change the value back from "OUT" to "IN",
I want those other fields to be cleared of data for just this record so next time they change back to "OUT" from "IN" those 2 additional fields are already blank.
I'm using Access 2010. I need to calculate a score based on values selected in a table by looking up corresponding values in other tables. I have a "Project" form to create new entries into the Project table (see Table 1). When I create a new project record, I will select values for the Payback and Need fields by selecting options from a list. The Payback list is pointed at Table 2 and the Need list is pointed at Table 3. In the below example, I created the "ABC" project and selected "1 year" for the Payback field and "Repair" for the Need field. Pretty simple.
Now that I have the "ABC" project loaded to my Project table, I'd like to create a report that will show a "score" for this project. The score should be calculated as follows: Payback Impact + Need Impact. In this example, the score should be 30 (Payback Impact of 20 + Need Impact of 10).
I have a query with an INNER JOIN and ORDER BY that is working great. Now, using the same JOIN, I need to update values in one table with the values in another. I thought it would be simple until I learned you can't do an ORDER BY with an UPDATE. Is there another way to achieve the same result? If you remove the 'ORDER BY', the statement below doesn't produce an error but the results are not correct:
UPDATE TableA INNER JOIN TableB ON (Left(TableA.CDN,6))=(TableB.CDN) SET TableA.HCC = TableB.HCC WHERE TableB.HCC Like '241*' AND TableB.BBB = 'X' AND TableA.CCC = "1234" AND TableA.HCC IS NOT NULL ORDER BY TableB.HCC, TableA.CDN;
Here's a query that the bottom listview in the attached form i.e. a listview representing a table of calls(many) to fims (1 top listview)
Code: SELECT calls.id, calls.firm_id, calls.called, calls.said, calls.spoke_to, calls.next FROM calls WHERE (((calls.firm_id)=[firms].[id])) ORDER BY calls.called DESC , calls.next DESC;
When I run the thing...I get a dialog asking me for firm id.
I want to change this so when I move up and down the firms LV (top)... the bottom LV updates taking firm id from the top LV with focus.
Using Access 2010. Fairly new to automation and macros.I have two tables (tblProductReceived and tblBins) and a form (frmProductReceived).A field in tblBins corresponds to a location the bin is at (named BinLocationID) and the tblProductReceived table tracks product that a specific bin has received.
What I need is for the tblProductReceived field PRLocationID ([tblProductReceived].[PRLocationID]) to be automatically populated with where the bin is at ([tblBins].[BinLocationID]) when selecting a specific bin in the form (frmProductReceived).
I have an Access 2007 application that has a Parts Table that contains a list of automotive parts.I have attached a screen shot (parts.jpg) showing the structure.I have another table called Web_Parts that has exactly the same structure as Parts. The Web_Parts table gets its data from a CSV import that I do that is data extracted from an MySQL database used by an eCommerce website.
You will notice that there is a field called "Web_Product_Id" (number). This is the unique ID for each of the products that I have exported from the Web shop system. I need to regularly (probably every couple of weeks), export out of the web shop system and import into the Access environment.
Due to the fact that the data in the web shop system may change (pricing, description, add new items, delete new items etc), I need to find a way that I can simply update any existing records in the Parts table with any new information contained in the Web_Parts table......
I have a simple database with few tables for which I created forms for the user to enter data.
I craeted in one ofthe forms a ombobox that reads from a table (list of suppliers fro example). I want the user to be able to select a supplier name and then this selected name will be fed to another table (order form for example). I did all requested work as I could understand biut the end results is that it writes only the corresoponding ID number (e.g. 3) of the supplier and the supplier name itself (text).
I have some data in a field with text type. I want to update some data in the field basing on a criteria by adding text to existing field by using update queries.For example suppose I have "rs" in the field . I want to add "D" to the field then it becomes "rsD". pl. tell me how to do this? or which functions should be used in the queries.
I have an access table call "Department" and two fields calls "DSec" and "DCode" like this
DSec --------DCode 50 --------70.1587 60 ---------80.6987 80 ---------60.8521 70 ---------50.1512I like to make a query so that DSec -------DCode 50 --------50.1512 60 --------60.8521 80 -------80.6987 70 -------70.1587Please Help Thanks
I have a Contact table and imported data into it from another Access Contact table. All but one field inserted correctly - the "Notes" field from the table I was importing FROM was inserted into the WebPage field of my current table. So now I am trying to update my Notes field in the Contact table from the WebPage field in the Contact table - or move the data over rather. I created an update query but when I try to run it it is asking for the Notes and WebPage parameters.
I have a table and a query both of which have the same [Resource ID], [Resource Name] fields.
I am trying to update the [CBL_1_Date], and the [CBL_1_kW] fields in the table with the [CBL_x_Date] and [CBL_x_kW] fields of the query. The problem is that when I try to run the query I keep getting "Operation Must Use and Updateable Query" error.
here is the SQL Code
UPDATE tCBLAggregation INNER JOIN qBestof4CBLs_avg ON (tCBLAggregation.[Event Date] = qBestof4CBLs_avg.[Event Start Date]) AND (tCBLAggregation.[Resource ID] = qBestof4CBLs_avg.[Resource ID]) SET tCBLAggregation.CBL_1_Date = [qBestof4CBLs_avg].[CBL_x_Date], tCBLAggregation.CBL_1_kW = [qBestof4CBLs_avg].[AvgOfCBL_x_kW];
This really isn't a large table by Access standards, as it has only about 1 million records, but nevertheless it's taking a long time to run the update query. Here's the query:
UPDATE [Db] INNER JOIN [Small Table] ON [Large Table].text1=[Small Table].[text1] SET [Large Table].[text2] = [Small Table].[text2];
[Large Table] has about 1 million records and [Small Table] has 10 records.
i am trying top create a stock take form. the form is now set up so each time an item is scanned a new record is created in the tblStockUpdate. i ow need to create an update query that updates tblItems with the correct quantities.
the relational data will be the barcode and is unique to each record in tblItems. because each time an item is scanned a new record is created i need to count records grouped by barcode or sum as each new record has a 1 as default in the qty column.i have created a qry that sums the records by group(Barcode) but now i need to update the tblItems quantities. update queries have always troubled me and this one is beating me at present.
Is it possible to update vlues in a table using wildcards. I want to use a query to search for certain records that meet a certain criteria and modify these values like changing particular dates in the date field to new values.
I'm working on a project management database for my fathers small business. Data Entry goes as follows: Users enter a Work Order, and all the parts that must be created for that work order. The parts have different processes (tasks) done to them to be created. The database runs a simple system like this as we want it to work. I am now attempting to allow handling of more advanced work orders. Specifically, some parts require the completion of multiple other parts before they can be created.
Here is how the database should handle these events:
1) User clicks button named "requires other parts" when entering a new part. 2) On click a subform is opened that allows the user to enter which other parts need to be completed first. 3) Once all of the parts are completed the next part can begin.
This is my current solution:
1) A query calculates if a part is complete 2) Some form of logic looks up to see if all the required parts are completed. If the answer is yes, a field named ready changes to "Yes" and if the answer is no, a field named ready changes to "no"
I will try to explain my problem. I have a composite key in my table....(i.e. 2 primary keys), when I do an "update" querry through a form and try to update just one of the primary keys, it adds an entirely new record to the table with the updated primary key field.
What I want to do is to be able to update just one of the pirmary keys in the same record (i.e. without adding a new record)
I have a field in table A (used as my main form) that I would like to update with a unique yet understandable name. I have created a query that takes the first few characters of two other fields and the event date and concatenates them to a unique name.
Challenge is the three fields that create the unique name are in table B.
So I tried the following in query design just to see if I could update a field in the same table
Code: Expr1: IIf(([EVENT_TBL].[EVENT]="Jacksonville" And [EVENT_TBL].[EVENT_DATE]="4/17/2011" And [EVENT_TBL].[EVENT_TYPE]="PRE-DEPLOYMENT"),([EVENT_TBL].[EVENT_TYPDTE_ID]="PREJACK170411"))
