Queries :: Work Order Number - Criteria To Filter By Text?

Is it possible to do a criteria like the "Between" to pull data like a work order number?
Ex WO#: WO5551212
I would like to be prompted to enter a Work Order Number when I run a query, then have the query display all of the data for that particular work order number.

I am attempting to use a form field as the source for a query filter criteria. Everything works fine if I simply use an "if equal" filter condition. As soon as I try a "like" condition, nothing works.
I created a test table with just one column (fld1). The table contains three records with the following values: BRDODS, BRD, TLAODS.
The following hard coded query returns two records, as it should.
SELECT Table1.fld1
FROM Table1
WHERE (((Table1.fld1) Like 'BRD*'));
I also created a test form (Form1) with just one text field (Text0). My intent is to soft code a criteria value via the form field instead of hard coding the query, as above. When I populate the form field with BRDODS, the following soft coded query returns one record, as it should.
SELECT Table1.fld1
FROM Table1
WHERE (((Table1.fld1)=[Forms]![Form1]![Text0]));
When I enter LIKE "BRD*" in the form field, no records are returned. I should get two records, just like the hard coded query above.
I've tried all variations of the LIKE statement in the form field, but nothing works.

This query tell me what quantity I am short of to make a part
diffqty: [StockQty]+[OnOrderQty]+[PendingQty]-Sum([OrderQty]*[ProductQty])
This will return a negative quanity iE -200
what I then would do is copy that to a purchase order but remove the negative sign can this can the formula be changed in anyway to give the positive number .

I have one table named Entry. This table have account number,work organization, price, date and etc.
I use a combo boxes in form which is connected to query and I can easily choose one account number,one work organization and date to see an report. There is also a possibility to left some of the fields blank, it will bring report if is null.
Now I need to make a form that have a possibility to bring up a report for multiple selections of account number and work organization?

I'm trying to create a query that generates random numbers for each record, sorts them by that field, then selects the top record. This should randomize the record being selected.
I can use the Rnd([ID]) function which does appear to generate a random number. Problem is that each time I exit the program and come back in, it always selects the same record. When I remove the Top = 1, to show all the records, every row does have a different random number but it does not appear to be sorting by this field.
If I run the query, here is the number I get: 0.98609316349029
Exit the program, restart, and run the query again: 0.98609316349029
If I refresh the query, the second and third time does appear to be random but the first result is always the same. how to generate truly random numbers?

I have query with a calculate field to finds the next service due date but I'm having a problem getting it to only show services due dates in the next 30 days.for some reason I cant add a criteria date()-30...I have to calculate the next service it takes service intervals from maskservicemonths field then find the last service date and generates the next service due date NextService: DateAdd("m",[MaskServiceMonths],[FindLast]).

I am working in MS access 2007.
What I am trying to do is fairly simple i just dont have the ability to correctly code what i want to do.
I want to filter my query based on some criteria in multiple columns. But i only want the query to filter based on the specific criteria if a checkbox has been selected.
Basically i want the criteria for one of the columns criteria to read
IF a check box "Check0" is selected THEN filter the column to only records that = 1 and if "Check2" then filter all records that = 2

I am using MS Access 2007.
I would like to display a report based on the table called "expenses", filtered by:
- "from" (datefrom field) and "to" (dateto field) date on "payment date" field;
- multiple criteria on same field called "payment method" (I would like to include only payment methods "check" and "credit card", but not the other payment methods in the field, such as "cash", "transfer", etc.)
For that end I made a query based on the table "expenses", and in the "payment date", in the criteria field, I entered:
between [form]![formname]![datefrom] and [form]![formname]![dateto]
This works fine so far, however when I attempt to add multiple criteria on the "payment method" field, it does not filter accurately any longer. In the same row of the criteria field where I completed the date criteria, I enter "check". In the next row, same field, I enter "credit card".
Since it doesn't work, I tried putting both arguments in the same line as the date criteria (always in the payment method field) as: "check" and "credit card" but still does not work (now it filters the payment method correctly, but the dates filter appear as if I have never completed them).

I was trying to filter a word using Not Like "word" in my query cirteria, some data is blank also, From this record i want to retrieve the result. But when i use Not Like Criteria, filter is working but blanks columns are also filtered.
I want to display all records (including blanks) except what i shown in the criteria.

I have two date fields in a table. I need to find the days between these dates and, if its greater than 7 days, I want to display the record in a report, so far, I have found a hand function that allows me to enter two dates and it returns a long data value representing the number of days in between the two dates. (google "I've developed the following code to count the business days between 2 dates." and its the second one that starts as SOLVED I made no mods to it as it does what i need it to do.
So, i added this to its own module within the data base for use within a query. My test query basically displays the unique ID, the start date and the end date and then displays the values returned from the function. here is the SQL:
SELECT [Main Table].[Unique ID], [Main Table].[Start date], [Main Table].[End Date], (Business_Days_Between([End Date],[Start date])) AS [Days between]
FROM [Main Table]
WHERE ((([Main Table].[Start date]) Is Not Null) AND (([Main Table].[End Date]) Is Not Null));
When ran, this Query works... However, when I enter a criteria like =2 or > 7, it says data type mismatch. I have even attempted the CInt() function to make sure its formated as int but i continue to get the same error.

I have been working on a query in my database and I would like to look up a Number Value from another table based on a Number ID field and the Number Date in the Number Values table, where the Number ID field in the table agrees to the Number ID Index field in the query, and the Number Date field in the table agrees with the Initial Date field in the query. The Dlookup syntax I currently have is as follows:
DLookUp("[Number Value]","Number Values","[Number ID]=" & [Number ID Index] & "And [Number Date]= [Initial Date]")
The Dlookup shown above does not return an error, but it returns a blank field. I know that individually, the Dlookup for the Number ID works, but when I add the And for the Number Date the Dlookup returns a blank. Also, I have verified that there are existing records where the Number Date and Initial Date fields agree.
Also, I changed the format of the date fields in the tables to be ShortDate, thinking that the Timestamp was causing the Dlookup to not find a match. I also tried to use the DateValue() function within a query to reformat with not luck.
Why my Dlookup is returning a blank?

Query that I have built to create a subform on one of my forms. It's my goal to make the subform easily navigable/query-able for the users, and that is where I've hit a roadblock. The subform contains a field - Balance - which I would like users to be able to search based on numeric/mathematic expressions (i.e. >0 and <40). In testing I have created a text box on the main form (BalanceCriteria), and linked it to the subform's balance field through the query in the Criteria field (forms!MainForm!BalanceCriteria).
This works fine with exact numbers - entering 19 will return client's with a balance of 19 - but returns an error - "Expression is typed incorrectly or is too complex to be evaluated" when tested with a numeric equation (>0).

Click in the subform
I then set tab order by selecting the box and moving the field up.
Looks correct and then I click okay.
The subform does not change.
I go back into design mode, click in subform and select tab order and it looks correct????

I want to get remarks as like this i have a query which is showing the total of different fields suppose the total is 77 and I want to give a crietria field by name of net level which shall work like this ..
if the number is from 0 to 33 then then the result should be C-1
if from 33 to 40 then C-2
if from 41 to 50 then C-3
if from 51 to 60 then B-1
if from 61 to 70 then B-2
if from 71 to 80 then B-3
if from 81 to 90 then A-2
if from 91 to 100 the A-1

I've been trying to work up a where clause that is generated by a button click event on a report. The workflow that i'm trying to obtain is as follows:
1) A report is run to determine the remaining work orders that need to be processed.
2) A button that is placed on that report is to be clicked, taking the user to the form associated with that work order, so it can be processed.
What i've been able to do so far is capture the unique ID for the work order and then print that in a message box. I can then open the form.
What i haven't been able to accomplish thus far is to open the form to the correct work order.
Things I've tried : I started trying to use the macro with the search for record option and using the where clause. Not successful. I am a little more comfortable in using vba so i switched to that pretty quickly.

I have a work order system that people use but it somewhat randomly puts blank records into my table. I've added a lot of validation checks when submitting, closing and resetting the form and limited the way people can exit out of the form to fight this issue but it still happens.

I want to add a button (FindNew) to my form (frmDenial) that, when clicked, will filter for records where the field (MBRLast) has "xx" in it, or is Null. I have spent the last 5.5 hours searching through the forums and playing around with sample codes and still cannot make it work. Please help me with this, I'm sure it's very simple. Thank you so much, everyone in the forum is so helpful!

Okay, I have a datasheet form. The source is TableData.
I want it to be filtered by date. The date is found on a separate form in txtDate.
So here is what the "Filter" property looks like:
((TableData.Quarter=([Forms]![frmWhatever]![txtDate])))
Now here's the odd part. When I initially put this filter in, it works at first. However, once I save the datasheet form and reopen it, the filter no long works, even though the filter property still remains.
Any ideas?

I have a form that is showing data from 1 table. That table has 12 different fields on it and I want to be able to filter based on selections I make in a combo box in the header of the form. The filter string must be dynamic enough to allow filtering based on 1 criteria selected, or multiple criteria selected. For example:
If I have values in filter fields 3, 5, and 9 I'd want the filter string to be created as follows:
"...WHERE field3 = field3filter.value AND field5 = field5filter.value AND field9 = field9filter.value"
If I have values in only field 7, I'd want th efilter string to be created as follows:
"...WHERE field7 = field7filter.value"
And so on and so on.
I have created some filters before but all of the different VBA syntaxes I'm using seem to come up short.

I have a linked table to Access 2010 which contains tracking numbers for shipments.When I link the spreadsheet to the Table, the FedEx tracking numbers are changed to for example - 9.813842152e+014 instead of 981384215196229. Is there anyway to change these back to its original format? I was thinking of creating a query where I could use Conversion Function, but it kept giving me error. Please note that both the UPS Tracking and FedEx tracking are in the same field.

I'm trying set the query criteria from a textbox on a form. It's a Status field in the query. 1 = Open, 2 = Closed. If I set the criteria to "1" it shows all open, "2" and it shows all closed and "1" or "2" it shows all. The problem I'm having is setting these in the form. I've set the query to pull the value from the form. I can get the Open or Closed to work but not the All. My textbox shows exactly how the criteria should read "1" or "2" but doesn't show any results.

I have some filtering criteria in a query that is based on some unbound text boxes in a form. These text boxes contain start and end dates. This form is not based on any table or query. All controls are unbound.
The query functions properly initially, however, I am programmatically changing the values of the unbound text boxes in the form that are used by the query. After their values have changed, the query doesn't seem to recognize the change and therefore returns no values.If I manually change the the values in the text boxes and run the query it works fine. However, I would like to avoid doing it this way, if at all possible.
After programmatically changing the values of the unbound text boxes, I tried setting the focus to the text boxes, setting the focus to other controls, refreshing the form, requering the form, requerying the text box, so forth and so on.

I've got a continuous form based on a query.Each of the fields have a search box below it (in the footer) which should ideally filter the query.I'm starting with the FirstName field.In the form's query, I've set the criteria to the following for the FirstName field:

But, it doesn't work; when I switch to form view, it displays an error. The Microsoft Access database engine does not recognize '[Forms]![frmStudent Details]![txtSearchFirstName]' as a valid field name or expression.

Hi,
I have a form which I can't seem to filter by form. When I click on "Filter by Form", the only combo option I get is "Is Null" or "Is Not Null", it does not give the full list in the table to choose. Can anyone tell me what's wrong with my form? The form also has a sub-form....does it matter?
I also tried tesing filtering the table with query but it also doesn't work.
My query,
SELECT DOCUMENT.TITLE
FROM DOCUMENT
WHERE (((DOCUMENT.TITLE) ALike "*work order*"));
Also, with Filter by form can I use wildcards such as entering in the search field of the form as "= "*work order*"
