Queries :: Auto-count Once Updated

May 26, 2013

i have a table with a column that reflects the below info, need to work out something for access to keep a count on the numbers of fields, have tried using conditional "count" in queries, the resultant value return is 12, this count omits counting all the "1", which is not i wanted, how do i tell access to start counting from the most recent "1" onward, and in this case the correct count value should return as "5", meaning there are 5 fields being entered after the most recent "1".

Updated Record Count

May 17, 2006

Cant find what I am looking for on the forum so if anyone can help me or tell me what to search for that would be great...

I need one of my forms to display a running total of updated records, but only those records that the user clicks a command button on. i.e if i have a recordset of n records each time I move to the next one (by clicking a command button) I want the control on the form to display the count of those records that have been updated only.

I am assuming I would need to add some code to the after update event of the form or on click event of the command button but cant really figure out what code to write.

Any pointers?

Reports :: Auto Populate Date And Time Every Time Form Is Updated

Nov 8, 2013

I have a database that stores information for lab testing. Each time a tech does a "step" in the test process he logs it in the table, using an input form. There are different categories, for example preparation, testing, analysis, etc, and each of those steps take time. I have the form autopopulate the date and time with NOW() evertime the form is updated. What i want to do is calculate the time it takes to do each in days. I can easily get how many days it was from now since they logged the test, =NOW()-TestDateTime. What I want to do is get the number of days it took to do each step, ie the number of days between each event. Is there a way to do this?

Queries :: WHY Would All Null Values Not Get Updated

Apr 1, 2013

I have a table with two fields; Part and remarks - both Text fields containing 1.8 million records. Remarks field has 600,000 blanks in the field. I filtered for blanks to get the 600,000 records displayed. I want to update this field to N/A where null values exist. My code is

UPDATE PartApplications SET PartApplications.remarks = "N/A"
WHERE (((PartApplications.remarks) Is Null));

The query updates 55,000 records ONLY and leaves the remaining blank.WHY would all null values not get updated?

Repeated Queries And Updated Data

Sep 13, 2013

I am running repeated calculation queries of different data, but its is not working to well. I have one query listing the total number of hats made from wool. I then have a second query of that lists the total number of hats made from wool and are black. I have third query that calculates the percentage. I have many different hats of many different colors, and i am doing the same three queries over and over. However, the calculated field for percentages does not update. E.G. I have 100 wool hats, 10 wool,black hats, 10%. The next round: i have 100 wool hats, 5 wool green hats, its will still show me 10%, as its is still calculating based on the previous data. how can i go about this most efficiently and why is not updating?

Auto ID Count

Dec 27, 2007

I am helping someone re-do their database and they would like the autonumber id to reset each year back to zero; something like yr&cnt (070001). This would need to be saved as the auto-generated id number for that data entry; again resetting automatically each 1 January. The next data entry will get the next number for that year (070002) and so on.

Oh, one last thing. There are 4 tables that this auto-generated date & count will need to work independently on. So, the first id in each table will be yynnnn; but will not affect the number sequence of any other table. Each table will track its own set of id numbers independent of any other table's results.

Any suggestions about the best way to go about this before I start that project?

Queries :: Update Query Saying 0 Records Will Be Updated

Jun 3, 2014

I have a simple Select Query based on one table.

In SQL View, the query is:

Code:
SELECT SYSADM_CUSTOMER_ORDER.ID, SYSADM_CUSTOMER_ORDER.STATUS
FROM SYSADM_CUSTOMER_ORDER
WHERE (((SYSADM_CUSTOMER_ORDER.ID) Like 'Q%') AND ((SYSADM_CUSTOMER_ORDER.STATUS)="H"));

So basically getting all records in the CUSTOMER_ORDER table that have ID beginning with Q and the STATUS is H (on hold).

I want to simply update these to change the STATUS to C (closed).

I converted the SELECT Query to an UPDATE Query and added a "C" in the Update To Field.

The SQL View is now:

Code:
UPDATE SYSADM_CUSTOMER_ORDER SET SYSADM_CUSTOMER_ORDER.STATUS = "C"
WHERE (((SYSADM_CUSTOMER_ORDER.ID) Like 'Q%') AND ((SYSADM_CUSTOMER_ORDER.STATUS)="H"));

But for some reason Access is telling me that it will update 0 records. There are over 2500 records to update.

Auto Count On Subform

Sep 5, 2006

Hi,

I have 2 databases. One is Personal Details and the other linked via their PersNumber is Appointment times.

What I need to do in the the Subform, is everytime the client comes to a new appointment where we record the dates and times etc I need it to show in a text box the number of appointments.

So for example if its their 3rd appointment it shows 3 if 4th then 4. Does that make sense?

Autonumber in the Database design doesnt work.

Thanks

Queries :: Update Query Peculiarity - Not All Fields Updated

Nov 18, 2013

I'm mid build on a commitments tracking (pseudo Purchase Order system) project, but seem to have run into an issue with a loop I'm building to allow users to edit commitments. The idea is that an edit form is launched, values amended and the submit button is clicked. A VB subroutine then validates the entries to ensure that the mandatory entries are included. It then writes a copy of the original values to the Archive table, before attempting to update the existing commitment with the new values..

This is working perfectly, apart from the fact that 3 fields that are "updated" are being updated to a blank value..

Code:
Private Sub CommitSubmit_Click()
Dim SQLStr, LastID, DOwner, DHeading As String
Dim ErrState, Dtype, DProperty, DTCA, DITD, DSD, DED, DSP, DRetention, DRA, DRPD, DSupplier, DDOW, DStatus, DUser, DShD As String
Dim Authcheck, Complete, ErrMsg As Boolean
Dim QDF1, QDF2 As QueryDef

Resetting Auto Count/Increment

Jul 3, 2007

I'm redeveloping a DB for a new project, so have removed all previous records from relevant tables (to start a-fresh)

One snub, the ID fields in the tables are auto increasing from where they left off, rather than from 1

If anyone knows how to reset the auto counters, it would be very much appreciated

Thanks in advance

Queries :: Using Count And MIN Together To Retrieve Only MIN Record With Count

Aug 16, 2015

I have a table that has 5M+ accounting line entries. Below is an example of one accounting journal in the table.

BUSN_UNIT_IJRNL_DJRNL_ICNCY_CMONY_A
CB0014/07/20140002888269323AUD16797
CB0014/07/20140002888269323AUD-16797
CB0017/07/20140002888269323AUD16797
CB0017/07/20140002888269323AUD-16797

The journal ID above was an accounting entry, debit $16,797 and credit $-16,797. because it was entered as a reversing journal in the system, the table has captured the Journal ID with 2 dates. For my purpose i only want the one date (MIN) date, the total amount of the journal (either the debit or credit amount 16,797) and the total number of lines the journal ID has so in this instance I want the count to be 2 and not 4.

Right now this is what i get

BUSN_UNIT_I JRNL_I CNCY_C SumOfMONY_A CountOfJRNL_I MinOfJRNL_D
CB001 0002888269 AUD 0 4 4/07/2014

This is the output i would like

BUSN_UNIT_I JRNL_I CNCY_C SumofMONY_A CountofJRNL_I MinOfJRNL_D
CB0010002888269323 AUD16797 2 4/07/2014

Im thinking with the total sum because theres debits and credits is there a way to do the absolute value of the journal MONY_A then divide by 2?

current SQL
SELECT [One Year Data Lines].JRNL_I, [One Year Data Lines].CNCY_C, Count([One Year Data Lines].JRNL_I) AS CountOfJRNL_I, Min([One Year Data Lines].JRNL_D) AS MinOfJRNL_D, [One Year Data Lines].BUSN_UNIT_I, Sum([One Year Data Lines].MONY_A) AS SumOfMONY_A
FROM [One Year Data Lines]
GROUP BY [One Year Data Lines].JRNL_I, [One Year Data Lines].CNCY_C, [One Year Data Lines].BUSN_UNIT_I
HAVING ((([One Year Data Lines].JRNL_I)="0002888269") AND (([One Year Data Lines].CNCY_C)="aud"));

Queries :: Count On One Column

Jan 5, 2015

I have one table with one column that I am trying to extract data from.What I would like to do with the Column is split it into a few counts. The Column has numbers in it with KB usage. What i'm trying to do is count the amount of users that use say 0. Then have a column next to it that count say 500 >= 2000 and so on. This is completely baffling me as to why I can't seem to do this. I've even redesigned the database to see if I could fix this problem, but no luck I can build a query for this to be done sepearetly, but can't seem to find a way to put it into one query.

SELECT Count([test Usage].StaffPhoneID) AS CountOfStaffPhoneID, [test Usage].[Nov-14], [test Usage].[Nov-14], Count([test Usage].StaffPhoneID) AS CountOfStaffPhoneID1
FROM [test Usage]
GROUP BY [test Usage].[Nov-14], [test Usage].[Nov-14]
HAVING ((([test Usage].[Nov-14])=0) AND (([test Usage].[Nov-14])>=500));

Queries :: Count Query For QBF

Apr 27, 2015

I have recently been working on a database that is meant to be quite user friendly. It contains two tables, one that lists 'trainees' and another that lists 'job applications' in a 'one to many' type relationship. It is designed to monitor Job applications being made by people doing courses here. So far, I have created a very practical form for data entry. I've created a QBF to allow the user to filter the Job Applications quite substantially. I'm trying to build a form that allows the same criteria to be entered, but that counts the number of Job Applications, and then creates a pie chart that subdivides the applications by 'source of application' (i.e. Indeed.com, Family, Newspaper'), or Industry of the potential employer.

For example, I would like to be able to select a programme or course that someone is on, their starting date, a date range for the application and some other details- i.e. Select an Industry then view a pie charts for the source of those applications and vice versa.

I've created a form for this, with a button for 'Source' and one for 'Industry' the two different pie chart types I would like to be able to select. I have created two separate query by forms for each, with the buttons linking to the respective Macro. The problem I'm having is that the query seems to ignore the WHEN criteria completely.

SELECT COUNT([Job Applications].[Application ID]), [Job Applications].source
FROM [Job Applications] INNER JOIN Trainees ON [Job Applications].[Trainee ID] = Trainees.[Trainee ID]
WHERE (
[Job Applications].[Application Date] > forms!CustomChart!DateAfter OR
forms!CustomChart!DateAfter IS NULL) AND

Count Records In Two Queries?

Code:
File RecordCount Date
Query1.txt ### (Current Date)
Query2.txt ### (Current Date)

I know I can use concatenation and a date function for the first and third fields, so my main question is the proper syntax in order to get this layout.
