Queries :: Exclude Records Before Date?
Jun 21, 2013
I have an access 2010 contacts database with 736 entries and I need a simple query to filter out entries after 1/03/2013. The date is entered by the Date Picker and there is no Input Mask set. I am using d/mm/yyyy in the table. The query I am trying design displays FirstName, LastName and DateAdmitted, I need to filter out all entries admitted after 1/03/2013. I have used <#1/03/2013# as the criteria and that returns over 49,000 entries in instead of about 700 entries. And I thought this was going tobe easy!!

how to exclude those records that have an alpha as the last character and also exclude the records that have the same id code without the alpha.
Example Listing:
id_code
ak_12345
ak_12345a
ak_12346
gl_2391
1009123
1009128
1009128a
1009128b
Desired Output Result:
id_code
ak_12346
gl_2391
1009123
The length of characters in the id_code is not consistent. Some id_codes are longer and some are all numeric and some don't have underscores.

I have a difficult problem (because of my own capabilities). I have a table (tblFoods) which includes a number of food with their analyzes. I have a second table (tblExclusiveFoods) which is connected with a third table (tblCustomers) with one-to-many relation. Namely, o tblCustomers is the "One" and tblExclusiveFoods is the "Many".
Into table tblExclusiveFoods there is a field that acts like a ComboBox and gets data from the tblFoods such as drop-down-menu. So, using the combo box i can select the foodID from tblFoods and then showing into exFood field which is a part of the tblExclusiveFoods fields. When i collect the foodID's from the tblFoods, i would like to to build a query which will exclude these foods from the tblFoods.

if you have a table of data (for example, where I have a long list of investors who should not show up in my queries and I don't want to try typing a very long list in a query's IN statement).
So, I created a "Quick Tutorial" to show how easy it is to use a table to exclude data from a query.

I made a query to calculate the average of a column, suppose that I have 5 records in that column (46,35,0,19.3,12), when the query calculate the average it sums the total of the column and divide by 5 (that's 112/5 = 22.4), what I need the query to do is to divide by 4 because one record is zero (that's 112/4=28). I put in the criteria the following (Not Is Null And <>0), yes this will not show the column that has zero but it still divide by 5.

I have a table that has entries recorded with date and time in one field, and I want to have a query that returns all records of a specified date or date range, regardless of the time in the field.
I have tried
Code:
Between [StartDate:] And [EndDate:]
And
Code:
Between [StartDate:] & "00:00" And [EndDate:] & "23:59"
Neither of which work ....

I have data in a field and I want to write a query to return all the values except the ones that have 2014/* in them. So I want to see the blank ones as well as the one with 2013. So I basically want to return B, C, D, E, F, G, H, J, K, L.
I tried the NOT LIKE function but couldn't get it to work.

I have been successfully using the following statement in Access 2010 to retrieve data from a large csv relational database:
SELECT [1995_1].RPT_REC_NUM, [1995_1].PRVDR_NUM, [1995_2].WKSHT_CD, [1995_2].LINE_NUM, [1995_2].CLMN_NUM, [1995_2].ITM_VAL_NUM
FROM 1995_1 INNER JOIN 1995_2 ON [1995_1].RPT_REC_NUM = [1995_2].RPT_REC_NUM
GROUP BY [1995_1].RPT_REC_NUM, [1995_1].PRVDR_NUM, [1995_2].WKSHT_CD, [1995_2].LINE_NUM, [1995_2].CLMN_NUM, [1995_2].ITM_VAL_NUM
HAVING ((([1995_2].WKSHT_CD)="A000000") AND (Not ([1995_2].LINE_NUM)="09500") AND (([1995_2].CLMN_NUM)="0100" Or ([1995_2].CLMN_NUM)="0200"))
ORDER BY [1995_1].RPT_REC_NUM, [1995_2].LINE_NUM;
This query returns one long column of line numbers (LINE_NUM) representing the itemized salary (CLMN 0100) and non-salary expenses (CLMN 0200) and a total for each of the organizations represented in the data base. My question is: is it possible to modify the query so that it returns only organizations whose data passes that following test that checks to see if the itemized line numbers 00100 to 10099 equal the total for each organizations line 10100: SUM(LINE_NUM 00100:10099)=SUM(LINE_NUM 10100:10100).
I have tried several times to upload a sample file but have been prevented from doing so because of a missing security token. I have communicated this to the administrator.

I'm trying to create an expression to calculate percentage.
The fields, Value A and Value B might both have null values, but I do not want Access to treat nulls as zero (as in the Nz() fn). How do I get the expression to exclude any nulls and not calculate for those rows, but set the calculated value for a row with null A or B to zero.
I want it to set no calculated value to zero so I don't get overflow errors and can therefore order the data by the calculated field.

I have a query based on a table which has a date field. the field both in the table and the query have the time also in the date value so when I try to query on a date I get nothing if I copy the date and time from the field I will get the result for that record if I just use the date I get nothing. I have tried the format which does display just date but if you click on the field the time is also there You must be able to query for a date only and get all the records.

My issue surrounds retrieving the last (based on most recent date) set of records based on the most recent date. I have query, containing 2 tables as the sources for the query results. Currently, the query yields:
Field A Field B Field C
123456 AAAA 1/8/13
123456 BBBBI 1/8/13
123456 CCCC 1/8/13
123456 DDDD 1/8/13
123456 EEEEEE 3/10/13
123456 FFFFFF 3/10/13
123456 GGGG 3/10/13
123456 HHHH 3/28/13
123456 IIII 3/28/13
123456 JJJJ 3/28/13
The desired results would be to return all records with the last/max date, so yield:
123456 HHHH 3/28/13
123456 IIII 3/28/13
123456 JJJJ 3/28/13
I have tried the max & last functions, yet no success.

We have a field (tbl_Enrolment.CourseCompletedOn) which holds the date a colleague completed a course. I want to bring through all courses completed within 12 months of todays date ( Date() ) from our database. I checked google and it suggested YEAR but that would only bring through dates with the same year, not within a 12 month period.

I have a large database filled with customer records. Some customers come one time. Other customers come 50 times at year. I want to find all customers that have records that are less than 30 days apart so I can ultimately see the types of products they buy. How do I write the query?
I attached a picture of a sample database. The 30 day (+/-) field doesn't exist but I would like the query results to build it.

I have a query that pulls scores for this month only for each class member. Problem is, I only need a count of these scores (per person) and because the date is in the query, it doesn't group the scores together and count them as one. i.e. it sees score 1 and score 2 as separate because they have different dates so they won't count together.
The only purpose of date in this query is to filter out only this month's dates. Is there some advanced query expression something or other that will tell it to leave date out of the count and only use it to filter?

I have a query that feeds another query. The first query needs to carry the Primary key, a secondary key (grouped by) a date (Maxed on) and an operator key (to group on) ...
At the moment I cant include the primary key because it groups on it and therefore every transaction is reports, my sql is -- How can I include the primary key MatterContactsMadeId and still get the max date for an operator within a matter
Code:
SELECT MatterContactsMade.MatterId, Max(MatterContactsMade.DueDate) AS MaxDueDate, MatterContactsMade.Operator
FROM MatterContactsMade
GROUP BY MatterContactsMade.MatterId, MatterContactsMade.Operator
HAVING (((Max(MatterContactsMade.DueDate))<=[Forms]![MattersBUpLogOptionsFrm]![txtBUpDate]) AND ((MatterContactsMade.Operator)=[Forms]![MattersBUpLogOptionsFrm]![txtOperator]))

I have a form where someone enters a 'Job' to be done which in turn creates a record in a table with all this information
On the form I have a field called 'Repeat Frequency' where the user can choose how often they would like this 'Job' to repeat. e.g. Monthly
Then, on another form someone else can check what 'Jobs' should be done on that day
I have managed to get this to work fine using the DatePart function and it displays all jobs to be done that fall on the current day (e.g. if they choose to repeat it weekly, it will look for all entries where the datePart "d" [DateToBeDone] = Date()-7, -14, -21 and -28)
The problem is that i have been limited to the options of 'repeatability'
What i would like to do is change the options from 'Weekly', 'monthly' etc and instead have a field makrked "Repeat every so many days"
Is there a criteria i can use in a query where i can show records every so many days? i.e. if there is a job in the system that should repeat every 7 days and the [DateToBeDone] is set to 31/10/13, it would return this record on 07/11/13, 14/11/13, 21/11/13 and so on?
I Have tried DatePart ("d", [DateToBeDone]=DatePart ("d", (Date()-[RepeatDays] but what happens is it only shows it if the day is that many number of days in the past and not multiples as i said above.

I have a query from a table (to reduce the number of fields). The list is all the positions people have performed, as person could have one record another could have 10 the number is unlimited.
Fields are:-
-employee ID
-start date
-position
I need to find any records that were active ON or AFTER 01/09/2014. This will be 1 record for most but some could have multiple.I think it makes it more difficult that there is no END DATE.

I have a rates table with 3 fields : [RateDate], [CurrencyID], [FXRate]
I also have a currencies table with 2 fields : [CurrencyID], [CurrencyCode]
Where [CurrencyCode] is just the 3-character currency code (i.e. EUR, GBP, USD etc.)
The rates table uses a composite primary key across [RateDate] and [CurrencyID] - i.e., there should only be one unique record for each combination of date and currency.
Not every date will be present in the table and, within each of those dates, not every currency will be present (but at least one, obviously)
I want to write a query which will return two fields. The first field will contain all of the unique dates in the table for which the [FXRate] field (for any currency) is blank / null. Straightforward enough :
Code:
SELECT [tblRates].[RateDate]
FROM [tblRates]
INNER JOIN [tblCurrencies]
[Code]....
But this gives me a separate record for each date / currency combination in the returned dataset. I just want one record per date and all of the currency codes in a single string (separated by some delimiter) as a text field.

I have a database that is used (partially) to enter appointments during a day. In the appointment column I've entered the date and time as dd-mmm-yyy-hh-nn-ss. I'm now trying to search for appointments entered on a specific day through a user input ([Enter Date] in the query criteria) Problem is, this only returns records where the time hasn't been entered and the time shows as 00:00:00.
I've tried CDate which gives me add/mmm/yyy return. if I try to search against that I get nil returns though. As a test I put DATE() in the criteria but it then says that it's an invalid foremat. I've also tried various machinations of "Like" and "Between" without success.

I have two questions, both the same query.
I need a date prompt and null records in the same line of criteria so I get all those within a certain date range under the field "CO_resp_rcvd" and those that didn't respond yet but need to -- is that possible to do both and if so how would you show me how?
This is what I have currently in my query
CO_resp_rcvd (date field)
Criteria: Between [Start Date] And [End Date]
(I need null values as well because there will be some if the CO has not responded yet but needs to)
Formula:
This formula gives me the number of bus days from the Review Date - CO_Resp_Rcvd Date and that works but if the CO-Resp-Rcvd date is null, I need it to calculate Review Date - Today's date to show the number of days outstanding for those that have not responded yet in the same formula?
Not sure how to combine it to work - the wrapper is a bus day function
This is what I have so far in the query
CO-Bus Days to Respond: Wrapper([Review Date],[CO_resp_recd]) but if CO_resp_recd is null then ([Review Date],Date())
