Queries :: Insert Text From Textbox On A Form When Combo Box Meets Criteria?

Jul 12, 2013

Is it possible to insert text from a textbox on a form (Data) when a combobox on (Data) meets a criteria?

Example: Test: IIf([Results]="Positive" text207)

So if the Results combobox is Positive then the text from Text207 is inserted.

Queries :: Identify Subsequent Records Where Original Record Meets A Criteria

Aug 8, 2014

I have a table [PickData] in a WMS (Warehouse Management System) database, that records details of each item picked. The key fields are;

[Movement] - a unique ID for a collection of items to be picked.
[ToAssignRef] - the order ID
[Product] - the product!
[Picked] - the date/time the item was scanned
[Pick Actioned] - the date/time the [ToAssignRef] was completed
[Reason] - A code to indicate why an item could not be picked - AKA F3'd

An operative would be allocated a movement, connected to the [ToAssign Ref], containing a number of products to pick. If an item can not be picked for some reason the operative presses F3 and selects a reason (no stock, damaged etc). These F3'd items (other stock allowing) will later be picked on a different [Movement]. I need a query to identify the subsequent [Movements] and the associated fields following the occurance of an F3'd [ToAssignRef] & [Product].

I have a query, but it runs very slowly (perhaps due to the DB size currently 780K records). Is this the right approach, is there a better (faster) way to do this?

Code:
SELECT PickData.ToAssignRef, PickData.Product, PickData.Picked
FROM PickData
GROUP BY PickData.ToAssignRef, PickData.Product, PickData.Picked
HAVING (((DCount("[Movement]","[PickData]","([ToAssignRef]='" & [ToAssignRef] & "') AND ([Product]='" & [Product] & "')"))<>0));

Using A Combo Box To Insert Text Into A Form Field

Oct 9, 2005

This is really hard to explain, but basically I'm trying to use a combo box that has a control source different than it's record source to update another field on the record source. For example, the combo box pulls it's options from a table called "NameList" and when you select an option from the combo box it updates a table called "Results". On this form there are form fields that are bound to the "Results" table. What I want to happen is, when I make a certain selection from the combo box, I want one of the fields bound to "Results" to automatically display text from a different table. Is this even possible? If this is a horrible explanation, please let me know. I need serious help on this one, I've been working on this for a day and a half now. If anyone has any ideas on how to do it a different way, please make suggestions. Thanks in advance!

- Josh

Also, another thing I forgot to mention, this may help anyone who tries to help me. This "Results" form is basically used as a log utilizing a report to display a sequence of events. I've included a screenshot for visual affect. I have censored a few things for privacy reasons.

General :: Combo Box To Populate Rich Text Textbox In Form

Aug 30, 2013

I am new to access and have been staring at the same Run-time error for 3 days (pathetic I know). I cannot for the life of me figure out why it does not like my Dlookup. Esentially, I want and After Update event in my combo box to populate a Rich text textbox in my form. After reading DLookup is the easiest way to make this happen. Here is my code:

Me.emailbody.Value = DLookup("[Escalation_1]", "Status_Emails", "Status_Emails.Status =" & (cboStatus.Value))

My error reads: "Syntax error (missing operator) in query expression 'Status_Emails.Status = LOCATION NEED MORE INFO'.

LOCATION NEED MORE INFO is the value in my criteria cbostatus.value.

Queries :: String (via Non-visible Textbox) From Search Form As Criteria Using Checkboxes

Mar 11, 2014

I have an unbound form (named frmReportSearch) with unbound text & combo boxes providing the criteria for a query (named qSeqStreets). The form / query utilize 4 optional fields as search criteria plus date from / to. The results are returned via a report (named rptSeqStreets). The whole operation worked perfectly, however I realized I needed to change one of the criterion to a multivalued field. The change in the table (named Tasks) worked perfectly. I used three checkboxes (named chkA, chkB and chkC) to allow the user to select any combination of the 3 choices, including none (to be treated as no filter on [fldShifts]).

The three options in the field (named fldShifts) are "A" "B" and "C". I am able to manually run the query from design view by typing in the criteria "A" Or "B"... "A" Or "B" Or "C"... and any combination of the three options in the criteria box and running the query. I am using the following code under the OK button's OnClick. The Code below has other items related to all the options .... I didn't want to give partial code so you may understand better:

Code:
Private Sub btnOK_Click()
Dim strShift As String
Dim strA As String
Dim strB As String
Dim strC As String

[Code] .....

My problem is that the query criteria needs to be entered into the criteria box with quotes and separated by "Or" depending on if multiple checkboxes are selected.

I can get the results to show correctly in the textbox, however I imagine the query is adding an extra set of ""s to the string so rather than "A" Or "B" .. it is getting ""A" Or "B"". My query Sql and even design mode are pretty complex, so I wouldn't know how to use the sql in VBA without blowing some fuses.

If fieldA =1 then FieldB must = 1 or 3 or 4. If not then I would like a message box saying it needs to check. Otherwise I don't want anything to happen.

How can I do this? and where do I put any expressions?
thanks

Validation Condition Where At Least One Of Four Fields Meets Criteria

Jul 29, 2015

Windows XP
MS Access 2007
VBA experience is very limited

So in my forms 'BeforeUpdate' property I want to validate whether a condition is met. The condition is whether 'any one of 4 fields contains something (text or number)'. I have written this code for validating a single condition and it alerts if the field is left blank. This code returns a warning message when the field is blank.

If Me.[txtObjective] & "" = "" Then
MsgBox "A 'Problem Objective' is required, please complete this field.", vbOKOnly
Me.[txtObjective].SetFocus
Cancel = True

[code]...

how to write the SetFocus part. And I dont know if this is correct anyway.

Queries :: Comparing A Text Field In A Table To Textbox On A Form

Jul 8, 2013

I have a table that has a date field set to text. I use the Mid function and get just the month in a query. I have a textbox on a form that when the user adds a month or removes a month from a selected listbox it adds or removes that months number from the textbox.

I want to us that text box on the form as the criteria for the month (the Mid function getting the month) and I can seem to get it to read what's in the textbox and use it as the criteria. I can manually type in a number and it works fine.

Queries :: Add Textbox Value To Each Line Of Insert

Nov 20, 2014

I'm trying to set up a data import function as follows: The user fills out a form, generating an entry in the Orders table. After pushing a button, line item data will be imported from an excel spreadsheet. I've got most of this working- I have a temp table that gets cleared out and then populated from the excel spreadsheet which is then deleted, all working fine. My hangup is when I try and get the line item data out of the temp table. I need to append the Order unique ID from the textbox on the form to each line item. Here's the select statement part of the insert into:

SELECT Forms!frmOrder!OrderID AS OrderID, ItemsID, NumUsed
FROM tblTempOrder

This gets the line items fine, but puts an Ankh symbol as the OrderID for each line item.

Modules & VBA :: Code To Add Data In The Listbox That Meets Certain Criteria?

Jul 17, 2014

I have a Access table that stores BatchNo,Scandate,NewBatchNo . As I can't attach Access database here so I have exported data from Access to Excel in Sheet1 to show how the data is stored in Access table.

Now I have to write code in VBA that will check the last NewBatchNo in the table . In the attached workbook its 194389. Now vba code should check the NewBatchNo which are blank before 194389 . Now in the records where NewBatchNo is blank , it should add the corresponding BatchNo,ScanDate in the listbox1 in form1.

e.g Sheet2 in the attached workbook stores Bathcno and Scandate of those records where NewBatchNo is null and before the Last used NewBatchNo which is 194389 in our example.

General :: Automatically Delete Data That Meets Criteria?

Mar 15, 2013

I'm an amateur (is there such a thing as having databases as a hobby?) with little training. I volunteered to organize a growing volunteer group I'm a part of by making a simple database for the volunteer office staff. One of the things I want it to do is make name tags for our weekly meetings. I don't want to print one for each name on our list because the list is over 400 names long with only around 35 regular attendees. I made two tables--one is the MakeNameTag table that lists regular attendees (it is a lookup field on the Names table).

The other is the Absences table. It has two fields; DateOfAbsence and MakeNameTag. If someone misses a meeting (does not pick up their name tag), their name is added to the Absences table. A query then filters the table for dates in the last 28 days. If their names shows up four times in the last 28 days I want for their name to be deleted from the MakeNameTag table. How to do that automatically? Our office volunteers have minimal PC skills, so the solution needs to be very user-friendly.

Reports :: Showing All Detail Records If One Record In Query Meets Criteria

Mar 5, 2013

I am trying to create a report which basically includes the following:

Company, Wages, Contribution.

Each company reports wages for each employee every month. Then they also contribute to a general fund based on a percentage of the wages. For instance:

Company---Employee---Wages---Contribution
CompanyA---EmployeeA---$4000---$40
CompanyA---EmployeeB---$3800---$38
CompanyA---EmployeeC---$3800---$38
CompanyB---EmployeeA---$4200---$42
CompanyB---EmployeeB---$4200---$42

...and so on.

Each employee is required to contribute, in this example, 1% of gross wages to the general fund.

On occasion, the company does not pay in the required 1% of gross, say, for CompanyA EmployeeA, they only paid in $35.

Here is what I need to do. If any contribution amount for any employee is incorrect, I want to display all the records for that company, not just the incorrect ones. The report is grouped by Company, and may contain dozens of companies.

I am already passing a number of criteria to the report using a filter, including the date range and other fields which are informational.

Is it possible in access 2010 to create a a query that only shows a text box if a combo box criteria is met?

Example: On a form there is a combobox (Result) that can either be negative or positive. If the value is Negative then a query is already setup that populates a mailmerge with some text. If Results=Positive can a query be created that will show the textbox (Data). It only needs to show if the positive criteria is met.

Queries :: Set Query Criteria From A Text Box On A Form

Feb 26, 2014

I'm trying set the query criteria from a textbox on a form. It's a Status field in the query. 1 = Open, 2 = Closed. If I set the criteria to "1" it shows all open, "2" and it shows all closed and "1" or "2" it shows all. The problem I'm having is setting these in the form. I've set the query to pull the value from the form. I can get the Open or Closed to work but not the All. My textbox shows exactly how the criteria should read "1" or "2" but doesn't show any results.

Queries :: Using Form Text Box As Query Criteria

Aug 31, 2014

I've got a continuous form based on a query. Each of the fields have a search box below it (in the footer) which should ideally filter the query.I'm starting with the FirstName field. In the form's query, I've set the criteria to the following for the FirstName field:

Code:
Like "*" & [Forms]![frmStudentDetails]![txtSearchFirstName] & "*"
frmStudentDetails is the form name.
txtSearchFirstName is the search box's name (in the footer).
The AfterUpdate event for txtSearchFirstName is:

Code:
Me.Requery

But, it doesn't work; when I switch to form view, it displays an error. The Microsoft Access database engine does not recognize '[Forms]![frmStudent Details]![txtSearchFirstName]' as a valid field name or expression.

Queries :: How To Activate Query Criteria For Multi-combo Box Via Form

Aug 12, 2014

I am trying to make a form where the user can check/uncheck query criteria via several check boxes. The idea is that the user can start with many criteria and then deselect criteria if the search does not return enough results.

I have been setting up several queries and thought I would combine them in a "Master Query", since I thought it may be easier to deal with each criterion and the respective switch this way.

Lets say we run a hairdresser.

I have a field in the form that allows me to select clients. This is also used in the query. Works fine. Now to the hard part.

Example 1:

Each customer has a budget to spend on haircuts.
Each hairdresser offers haircuts from $x to $y.
The query should return all hairdressers that are appropriate for the budget of the selected customer.
There should be a yes/no button on the form to ignore or use this criterion.

Example 2 (this completely threw me off):

Each customer has a set of preferred services from a table (e.g. cutting, washing, coloring).
Each hairdresser offers certain services also based on this table (e.g. cutting, washing, coloring, drying).
The customer and hairdresser table use the services table and a multi combo box to select the services.
The query should return only hairdressers that offer some or none of the services wanted by the client.

Again, there should be a services yes/no button on the form to either ignore or include this criterion.

To clarify, the hard part for me is the query. I am fine with setting up the tables and the form. Just not sure how to implement something like "IF (ServicesCheckBox = -1, 'then use service criterion', 'ignore service criterion')".

Queries :: Criteria From Multiple Combo Boxes On User Form?

I have tried:

Queries :: Access 2010 Query Won't Recognize Criteria From Form Text Box

May 7, 2014

I've been writing queries in the following format for years in Access 2003, but having recently transistioned to Access 2010, I've found the following sql doesn't work.transform

sum(s.value)
SELECT
s.sn, s.ln, s.pn, s.id, s.lat, s.point, s.supply_type, s.used, s.real, s.code, c.name
FROM
supply_points s
, codes c
WHERE
s.code = c.code
and s.id is not null
and s.code = 1075
and s.month >=[forms]![main]![gppstart ]
group by
s.sn, s.ln, s.pn, s.id, s.lat, s.point, s.supply_type, s.used, s.real, s.code, c.name
pivot
s.month

In Access 2010, this query returns the following error message:the Microsoft Access database does not recognize '[forms]![main]![gppstart]' as a valid field name or expression

Is this a common phenomena in Access 2010?

Queries :: Running Query Based On Form Text Box Criteria With Special Features

Dec 18, 2013

I am trying to run a query and display the results in a report (the report side of it is childs play and not a problem). The problem I am having is that I have a search form which should allow the user to search any one of 6 fields (text boxes) or a combination of each.

If the user enters something into a field then that search criteria must match. I wanted to have it so if all fields are left blank then it will show all entries in the database (but it isn't, it shows a blank report). I also wanted it to allow partial completion of boxes.

So for instance if I have 5 customers (Jones, Jonson, Jonus, jimjonkins, Janis) and I type "Jon" into the name field then I would like it to show the first 4 records as they all contain "jon" somewhere in their name but its not, its only allowing exact matches.

I currently have '[forms]![Search_Customer]![Search_Name]'.

Queries :: Textbox On Subform As Query Criteria

Jun 3, 2013

I'm trying to build a query to use as a filter in the DoCmd.OpenForm function.

I have done this several times before, referencing values from forms e.g.

Point To
Field: LeadID
Table: Lead
Criteria: [Forms]![GridDisplay1]![LeadID]

This filter is used in the procedure:

Code : DoCmd.OpenForm "LeadDetails", acNormal, Point_To", , , acDialog, """"

And it works great, I click a button next to the record I want to select (records displayed on continuous form) and it opens the Lead Details form on that particular record.

However now I am trying to accomplish the same thing, except instead of a continuous form I need to draw from a continuous sub-form. The form "BrokerMgmt" contains a sub-form named "BrokerSearch." The RecordSource for the sub-form is set once the user enters data into a few textboxes on the main form and clicks the search button:

Code:
Private Sub brkSearch_Click()
Dim argCount As Integer
On Error GoTo Err_Handler
If IsNull(brkFirstName.Value) And IsNull(brkLastName.Value) And IsNull(brkCompany.Value) Then
MsgBox "You Need To Select Some Values", vbCritical, "Lead Tracking"

[Code] ....

The sub-form then displays basic info such as Name, Company, State, and the "BrokerID" which is the primary key of the "Broker" table. This "BrokerID" is displayed in "Textbox 20" so I set a button next to each result to on_click perform the procedure:

Code:
DoCmd.OpenForm "BrokerDetails", acNormal, "Point_To_Broker2", , , acDialog, """"
"Point_To_Broker2" is set up in the same style as "Point_To":
Field: BrokerID
Table: Broker
Criteria: [Forms]![BrokerSearch]![Text20]

However instead of the BrokerDetails form opening to the appropriate record I get a msg box asking for a parameter. Why is this? Even if I enter the correct BrokerID as the parameter it still gives me an error saying you can't go to the specified record.
