Queries :: Multi Concatenated Text Box To Individual Row
Sep 30, 2014
I have imported a lot of data from excel into a table. There is in one of the columns some multi concatenate info I want to separate in it's own individual row.I am not sure if there is a way to do this in a query or if there was an MsAccess2007 example somewhere. I looked on the internet but couldn't find anything.
I have a Make Table query that includes a new field concatenated from a numeric field and a memo field, with some assorted text elements - Issue Description:"("&[number]&") "&[Description]
When I run the Make Table, the new field "Issue Description" is created as a text field, NOT as a memo field.
Is there any way to insure that this field is created as a memo field.
I am trying to use a criteria to filter out nulls in concatenated variable, which slows the query considerably. The part that makes it slow looks like this -
WHERE ... AND (([tbl1].[x] & [tbl1].[y]) <> "") AND ...
If I work them individually, it's not a problem, the query is fast, but I have to combine them first in order to produce the correct output.
I have a database where I record grades for my students. I would like to create a macro so that every time I record a grade as an "F", the student will receive an email that will contain an attachment of their scores. A lot of the information I want to include in this email is in several different tables. So to make it easier, I have created a query that lists the following:
Students name (SName) Student's email (SEmail) ID# of the form I use to record their grades (ID) ID# of the studen'ts work (WorkID) Date of their work (CreatedDate) Date I graded their work (AuditDate) Grade="F" (Accuracy)
How can I create something that will automate emailing of this information--to the individual student with only their information? I am using Access 2010. If I can't automatically send the emails, I would like to create a button in my audit screen that will send a report containing that student's information to them.
I have created a database that generates a report with customer debts. I have a lot of customers and in a report each page is a different customer with individual debts info. What i would like to do is to create a button and distribute individual report page as pdf to individual customer by email. I'm using Lotus notes. I have searched the forums i found something but it was not what i was looking for.
I have a table that has over 6000 rows with two columns. One a title and the other a memo column with transcripts from interviews (some being extremely long). I do research using content analysis and to do that on these interviews, I need each one saved in its own text file.
Specifically I need to export each transcript into its own text file and save that file using the title from the other column. So I would end up with over 6000 text files all being saved using the title from the corresponding row as the transcript. Is this even possible?
I am working on a website which has over 1000 pages that has the same code, but only a link that is different on each page. So, I thought that I will create a database and work my way from there. I was able to work the code and combine everything. Now would it be possible to export individual record from a query to a file with .html extension? If not, .txt will work as well. However, I want to have another field that would have the file names and the file is saved under that name. The query name is "Code Query" and the field name is "Final Code".
Situation: I have a bunch of individual databases (approx 70) - each holding one table called "Meter" with some GPS reads and additional information about the GPS point.
Am looking for solution to create one big database file holding all GPS reads.
One idea i have is linking all tables into a new database and run a create table query and then an append query.
Is there a way to somehow have the one append query run automatically on all existing linked tables (remember approx 70 tables so i really want to avoid of creating 70 append queries ;) )
To make it more complicated: data sets in the original individual databases could be modified or new data could be added. From what I know linked tables are updated but is there a way of keeping the my big, newly created (appended) database up2date automatically as well?
Hope it all makes sense? Thanks a lot in advance Regards from Ireland
I wanted to know if it is possible to set a rolling year based on the first recorded date for an individual. In other words, my table is updated every time an employee receives a point. The record includes the employee's name (empName), the date (dateOfOccurrence), and the point (occurrencePoint).
I would like to create a query that would be based on a rolling year from the very first record of an employee based on the first dateOfOccurrence. The first date/record of this employee would be the start of the rolling year. I am writing this in SQL in Access 2013.
I am developing database for my school. I am done with everything except the examination aspect where i need to indicate students position in every subject beside their overall position according to the sum of all the subject scores. How to indicate student position in subjects.
I'm a noobie with Access, and on my form which displays Account information, I also want to display the multiple Addresses this account can have. I can't find any type of scrollable text box (something to look like a spreadsheet), and I know it's not a list box I need to use.
How do I create this and what is it called? I tried using a data grid but I dont think that is it either
Also, my scrolling text icon on the toolbox is greyed out, not sure why.
I have a website in Asp, which is connected to a MS ACCESS database. In this database, there is a text field (Memo type) which contains text. But in web site, it just shows a continuous single paragraph.
My form's 10 column combo-box (based on a query) won't break into text cells. Some of the columns contain numbers, some test, some phone #s. All columns show when I click the Combo-box in Form View. Access Help File said to put: =Forms!Customers!CompanyName.Column(1) in the ControlSource for the text cell. Tried that and was returned #Name? for any of the fields in which I tried it. My expression was: =frmSpartanStudentBehaviorLog!Last_FirstUC.Column (3) The other properties in combo-box are set correctly: ColumnCount=10, Column Widths are correct.
I also tried the expression: =Last_FirstUC.Column(2) but got the same result #Name?
I'm baffled. As a very new user, I'll appreciate any assistance. Thanks.
I'm new to access. Hope someone can offer some help!
I have created a simple database to better organise some day-to-day office data management. For instance, I have a form (just) to record event attended by staff. The data would then be output as a brief report on overall office activities. Since it's event-oriented, staff attendance is just one complementary information. I went through most of the post re multi-select. I understand that it may not be a good idea to return values from multi-select list boxes into a text field, as it would be problematic for using data-analysis in the future.
In my case, I just need to have a text box, neatly (and easy for user, too) shows who attended. As suggested in one of the posting, I follow the instruction of http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;210203. But it doesn't seem working. I attach my databsae (sorry, it's very simple, as I want to test whether the multi-select work).
Your help would be greatly appr:confused:   ciate!
Also, what about if I group option button, will it allow multiple return by the way?
I'm trying to have users enter multiple IDs from a table into a text box separated by newline chars, and then (once they press a button) have some sort of macro or code read each line and pull a report I've created based on the ID. Is that possible?
I have built a query, a series of concatentions. What I need to do is add this query as a field on my form. So that the info that has been concatenated is stored in my table. Can this be done? I am able to show this query field on a report, but I need to pull the concatented info into the table. Hopefully I have explained this well enough.
In the header of my form I have two comboboxes that search the main form to bring up a specific record in the detail section. The first, Combo2, uses the primary key of the table on which the chart is based for the search, and works well. The second, Combo6, is based off of a query that displays patient names concatenated as "LastName, FirstName." I can't search by last name alone because some last names are present for multiple people. Is there any way to take a selection in this combobox and use it as the filter for both the first and last name fields on the main form? Here's my current code for the search:
Code:Private Sub cmdSearchPatientInfo_Click() Dim strWhere As String Dim lngLen As Long Const conJetDate = "#mm/dd/yyyy#" If Not IsNull(Me.Combo2) Then strWhere = strWhere & "([Medical Record Number] = """ & Me.Combo2 & """) AND " End If '====This works fine If Not IsNull(Me.Combo6) Then strWhere = strWhere & "([Last Name] Like ""*" & Me.Combo6 & "*"") AND " End If '====This does not lngLen = Len(strWhere) - 5 If lngLen <= 0 Then 'Nah: there was nothing in the string. MsgBox "You have not entered any search criteria.", vbInformation, "Whoops!" DoCmd.Echo False DoCmd.Close acForm, "editPatientInfo" DoCmd.OpenForm "editPatientInfo" DoCmd.Echo True Else strWhere = Left$(strWhere, lngLen) Me.Filter = strWhere Me.FilterOn = True Me.Detail.Visible = True End IfEnd Sub
I have pretty limited familiarity with VBA, and I'm not really sure how to proceed. Any help would be VERY much appreciated. Thanks!
I have an access project that I am working on and need to be able to select multiple items from a listbox and have the exact selections appear in a textbox on the same form. I have looked around and have not been able to find any code that works.
I have an Access 2007 application that has a Parts Table that contains a list of automotive parts.I have attached a screen shot (parts.jpg) showing the structure.I have another table called Web_Parts that has exactly the same structure as Parts. The Web_Parts table gets its data from a CSV import that I do that is data extracted from an MySQL database used by an eCommerce website.
You will notice that there is a field called "Web_Product_Id" (number). This is the unique ID for each of the products that I have exported from the Web shop system. I need to regularly (probably every couple of weeks), export out of the web shop system and import into the Access environment.
Due to the fact that the data in the web shop system may change (pricing, description, add new items, delete new items etc), I need to find a way that I can simply update any existing records in the Parts table with any new information contained in the Web_Parts table......
Hi, I need a little help. I will give you the background on what i am doing to hopefully make this easier to resolve. P.S I am open to other approaches.
2) The following Module concatenates the columns (my idea being the user can order all items in bulk.
Code:Public Function Conc(Fieldx, Identity, Value, Source) As Variant Dim cnn As ADODB.Connection Dim rs As ADODB.Recordset Dim SQL As String Dim vFld As Variant Set cnn = CurrentProject.Connection Set rs = New ADODB.Recordset vFld = Null SQL = "SELECT [" & Fieldx & "] as Fld" & _ " FROM [" & Source & "]" & _ " WHERE [" & Identity & "]='" & Value & "'" ' open recordset. rs.Open SQL, cnn, adOpenForwardOnly, adLockReadOnly ' concatenate the field. Do While Not rs.EOF If Not IsNull(rs!Fld) Then vFld = vFld & ", " & rs!Fld End If rs.MoveNext Loop ' remove leading comma and space. vFld = Mid(vFld, 3) Set cnn = Nothing Set rs = Nothing ' return concatenated string. Conc = vFldEnd Function
3) A query calls on this
Code:SELECT Conc("ID#","PartNumber",[PartNumber],"Qry_70_BOM_Awaiting_Order") AS [BOM ID#], Qry_70_BOM_Awaiting_Order.PartNumber, Sum(Qry_70_BOM_Awaiting_Order.[Qty Req]) AS [Total Qty Required], Conc("Work Order","PartNumber",[PartNumber],"Qry_70_BOM_Awaiting_Order") AS WOrdersFROM Qry_70_BOM_Awaiting_OrderGROUP BY Qry_70_BOM_Awaiting_Order.PartNumber;
I would like my users to purchase againts the new BOM ID# records as seen above. Once a order is placed against these i will, put something against each records to show there order status. (i'll take care of this part.)
Finally, sorry about the lenght of this, I need to be able to use the above BOM ID# to reference back to the the ID# table at the start of the thread. In this example Id's records 2 - 4 and 5 will show ordered.
In other words how do i extract 2, 4, 5 back out of the above and into there original state, but including the order status?
Ive had a quick look at other threads to see if this question has been asked already, so hopefully Im not repeating a previous question!
I am completely new to Access but have been asked to perform multi-criteria queries across multiple tables. I realise it would be easier to just put all the information into one table, but if anyone could explain how to do the above I would be very grateful.
Hi there. I am in the process of creating a database without using the wizard and am confused regarding multi table queries. Can someone explain in simple terms why when you create a form from a query, some forms wont let you add data. I think it is to do with the join type but I just dont understand it at all. Say you are creating the order details query, you have to select the product ID from the order details table but the product name from the products table. Why is this? (lol). Please help a confused newbie!! Thanks
I have a table containing the following fields: Customer ID Customer Name Countries The ID is numeric, the name is a string and the countries are the tricky bit since it contains a string of concatenated 2 digit ISO codes: "USCAGB".
What I would like to do is convert the concatenated representation to a normalized one. Take this example table:
ID Name Countries 2 John SEDK 3 Maria USCAGB
From the above table I would like to create a new table that links Customer IDs to single countries as
ID Name Countries 2 John SE 2 John DK 3 Maria US 3 Maria CA 3 Maria GB
I'm putting together a shipping database. We scan in a string of barcodes, separate out the Serial Numbers from the Barcode Data, concatenate them together as a string with asterisks as a delimiter and join them together with a date code and manufacturing line identifier. Throughout all of the data manipulations I am able to maintain the Serial Numbers in my table in the order which they were scanned in. The very last function is to concatenate the Serial Numbers and Lot information together into one long string which will then be output to a label creation software. And up to that point, the Serial Numbers are still in the correct order (based on them being linked to an autonumber field in the initial table) Upon the final concatenation, the order of the Serial Numbers is being changed, sometimes 17 out of 18 Serial Numbers will be correctly ordered with just one being randomly placed in the string out of order. Here is the code in SQL that I use for concatenating.
INSERT INTO tempMotorPalletLabel ( PalletLabel ) SELECT DISTINCT tempMotors_to_Warehouse.PalletNumber&"*"&tempMotor s_to_Warehouse.Count&"*"&tempMotors_to_Warehouse.P artNumber + '*' + Replace(Replace(ConcatRelated("SerialNumber","temp Motors_to_Warehouse","PalletNumber='"&PalletNumber &"'"),' ',''),',','*') FROM tempMotors_to_Warehouse;
And this SQL Query transfers the concatenated string to a table that my Label Software queries for data to create the label with.
INSERT INTO AccessMotorLabelData ( PalletNumber, [Count], PartNumber, PalletLabel ) SELECT DISTINCT tempMotors_to_Warehouse.PalletNumber, tempMotors_to_Warehouse.[Count], tempMotors_to_Warehouse.PartNumber, [tempMotorPalletLabel].PalletLabel FROM tempMotors_to_Warehouse INNER JOIN tempMotorPalletLabel ON tempMotors_to_Warehouse.PalletLabel=[tempMotorPalletLabel].PalletLabel;
