Queries :: Need To Remove A Specific Word From A Field
Dec 2, 2014
I have a column named "stuffno" that i should enter the id of my stuff.I should enter "no 111".I did this because some stuff dont have id's so if i make a calculated field. "No " & [stuffno]I will get in the field of stuffno1 "no " for the stuff without id..Ok now i want to make another column that contains just the id of the stuff..Is there anyway to take just the id numbet the contents of "stuffno" field without "no " so the "stuffno1" will be empty or it will contain just the id.
I need to find whether a memo field contains a specific word. I know how to find whether it contains a specific string.
Let's say I am looking for the word "run." I would not want a positive result when searching "I don't like gerunds," but I WOULD want to find the records with "I know how to 'run' a search."
So I am looking for WORDS, not matching strings.
I am perfectly willing to use a user-defined function, to put involved processing into the query, such as
Code: ... WHERE FieldHasWord("run", memoField) = True AND ...
explain me the Query Expression to remove the first 7 characters in a column, to rum a Query.Eg - I have entry like - 4/8/11-Pipe...I need to return the result like "Pipe".How to build the query.
I have a field called "SC" with a value 13-251. I need to remove the "-" ending up with 13251. I tried using, as a starting point, Mid(String, Start, Length) with no success. I found this in another topic, and thought this might be close to what I was looking for. I sure did not know how to use it. When I selected the run command I got the following response:
Query must have at least one destination.
I tried a few different things like adding an extra field and different pointers but I doubt if I'm even standing in the batters box.
I'm trying to allow my users to do some analysis of existing data. they would like to be able to generate a report which will summarize sales orders against the month they were placed. They would also like to summarize this by between 1 and 4 other fields.
I have created a "filter" form to allow them to choose the values for each of the 4 fields and my plan is that they will leave them blank if they do not want to narrow them down. My problem is that I would like to remove the grouping on the field if they do not select a value for it.
Example data:
Field1, Field2, Field3, Field4, Cost, Month, Year 1,2,3,4,£20,4,2014 1,3,4,5,£10,4,2014 1,2,4,5,£5,4,2014
If they select nothing for any of the fields I would just want to see that my total for April 2014 is £35
If they select 1 in Field1 then I want to see one line with a total of £35 (i.e. it ignores the distinction of the other selectable fields)
If they select 1 in Field1 and 2 in Field2 the total would be £25
If they select 2 in Field2 and 4 in Field3 the total would be £5
etc. etc.
I am struggling because I need the distinct records to allow me to group on them when I need to but if I don't need to group on them I need to ignore the grouping.
What I have a a form that my lab supervisor would use. That person selects the records that are to be modified and assigns work, completes work or otherwise updates the status of the records. One of the options is to mark a record as not having a sample here if it has already been marked as having been here. So essentially, I want to modify the record to change the sample arrival date and sample number field (which is a foreign key field) to null or empty. I have created a delete query that deletes the corresponding record just fine.I just am having difficulty updating the two fields mentioned above. When the supervisor selects the record the primary key for that record is also picked up so it is easy to know exactly what record to adjust. The query returns the information to be updated just fine, it just doesn't do that. Here is the sql of the query. As I said, I don't care if the fields are empty or null. Also the fields aren't required.
Code: UPDATE TestRequestTable SET TestRequestTable.SampleLocation = "", TestRequestTable.SampleArrivalDate = "" WHERE (((TestRequestTable.TestRequestNumber)=[Forms]![LabScheduleForm]![TRNumberCombo]));
I have a query which gets information from 2x tables where the I'd on one table is the reference number on the second table.I would like to know how I can remove the duplicates on my reference number field?
I have a seating chart with 33 tables. Under each table there is a number that represents seats taken. I want to do a query that changes the number when it is a certain value. For example, when the value is null I want it to say "Empty", when the value is 10 I want it to say "Full" and when the value is over 10 I want it to say "Over". If the value is 1-9 I want to leave it as is.I know how to accomplish one at a time but not all three together. I've been useing:
I have a specific access database that my customer have sent to me and it only works in a specific folder. I want to make it analyzed and worked in other folders but when I click, it turns out with a warning box that I should work with it in that folder.
So I have been developing a database tool that needs to have multiple ways of filtering data. I wanted to be able to display the data nicely so I'm using a split form.
As usual, there is an easy to read form on the top half and a datasheet on the bottom half. On one side of the form half I have some comboboxes that are associated with fields in the datasheet. The comboboxes apply multiple filters, narrowing the search results down. It all works fine.
However, I've been trying to figure out a way to remove just one filter at a time. There is a button to the right of each combobox that is intended to clear just one filter.
So far this is what I have. This code clears all filters.
Code: Function removeFilter(source As String, combo As ComboBox)
'source is the field being filtered and combo is the current 'value of the combobox
With Forms("PART_QUERY") .Filter = "[" & source & "] = " & Chr(34) & combo & Chr(34) .FilterOn = False End With
End Function
I had some success using another method with select statements. Every time I cleared a filter, I would also check every other combobox to see if they were not null, then reapply each one of there filters. That seems way over complicated. I'm sure I'm missing something.
How do I remove one, specific filter from a split form, after I have applied many different filters?
I have table call "empTable" and it has an Attachment field called "Attachment". Some of the records has empty Attachment field and some record has one attachment and some has two and the attachment types are jpeg and pdf.
I want to remove all the pdf from all the records in this table automatically with VBA or something, is it possible? How to do it?
I need to print a report on pre-printed paper. The name fields are in blocks, which means I need to print the first character of the name in the first block, the second in the second block, etc. Any ideas??
I am trying to Dcount in a report agianst a query but I need to narrow down to a specific name within the [Catgory] for example [Category] ='Allowable' How do I fit that into the statement?
I have a DB to keep track of my employees. I have one table with named EmployeeT with the basic information like name, address, phone number, etc. And another table named EmployeeHistoryT which tell me about there hisorty in the company, basically, If they were Late, did not show up, cancelled from that day. They share a relationship threw the employee ID. IN the history table, I have DateofAction:, TypeOfAction:, and Description:. In the type of action area I have it set to were you type in what they did, wether it be Late, Did not Show up, Cancelled, etc. I want to be able to get a total about of Late, Cancels, etc. I want to know that John Smith was Late 16 times, cancelled 10 times, and Did not show up 2 times. Is this possible with only one feild.
I have 5 textboxes and a multiline textbox in a form in my Access Database. I am going to type several keywords in those textboxes and I am going to type an article in the multiline textbox.
What I need to do is I want to calculate the keyword density in the article. I can do that if i know how to search the whole text in the article and count the specific word. And I want a function to count all the words in the article too.
I was thinking today if it is possible to fill Access reports based on a specific Word template? I don't want to populate a Word file with Access data as users of my app might not all have Word. Or is there another solution using a WYSIWYG editor where users can format everything according to their needs? That would be fantastic.
I basically have General Date field (e.g. 10/1/2014 6:34:11 PM) and I want to limit the results to only a specific month and only to show reuslts after 6PM. I tried everything and still stuck.
Hello, I have just spent ages doing searches and reading everything I can on locking. But, I have yet to find an answer as to how I can lock a specific field in a specific record.
e.g. Staff enter customer details, then at the end of the day the admin (me) checks it over and presses a big old button that stops them from locking certain fields in the current record only - they must still have access to the unlocked fields of the current record, and it must not lock any other records.
I'm guessing there's some VB code in the form of fieldname.lock = true, but then it locks the field throughout the whole table!
I had two fields in my table which I previously used in the form. I deleted the fields from the form itself but the fields are still listed under Field List and not even under any table...
Delete buttons doesn't work on it, and neither does backspace?
How do I remove it? Right click only gives me two options:
"Add Field to View" or "Edit Record Source" which returns an error saying this command cannot be used.
I have just taken over some database which have a load of tables and queries that I suspect are no longer requirer. Is there anyway to see when a table or query was last USED in a database??
I have table where First Name, Last Name and Initial are all in one field. What is the syntax to remove initial? Been playing with Right and Len with no success, I'm sure this has been done before.
