I'm not an advanced user of Microsoft Access 2010, I've been working on a database for a company that does Non Destructive Testing, so my task is to simplify how the technicians process the information and make their jobs easier.
Firstly, I have assigned a Unique Identification to a code in this case - X8120 This code is assigned to a row of information.
What i want to do is enter the code X8120 into a text-box and once the code is enter, i want the database to retrieve all information that's assigned to that code from the row (which is 17 fields) in a table.
When the information is retrieve, i want those 17 fields to automatically populate into their own text-boxes, so there would be 17. This would all be on one form. So the technician only has to enter a code which displays the information relating to the testing the technicians have done.
What i have done so far is made the table into a form and added a select button command, so a technician would click on a button that opens a form and select the row of information they want and populates those 17 fields.
So my aim is to simply enter a code or an event and the database will retrieve the information instead of going through a form to select the information. So i am simplifying the process even more.
I am working on a database for a Skip Delivery Company, I have all relevant tables and Forms done and can add customers and so on. I have a field name in my Skips Delivered table called Delivery Docket which contains a long list of customer dockets. What i want to do is, be able to retrieve all customer information (such as Customer Name, County, Location, Phone Number and so on ...) on my Skips Delivered form by just entering the docket number on that form. I'm thinking i need an SQL Statement somewhere?
I have visitors who come in from one to several days at a time through different times of the year. Usually someone visits each day. Currently I use Excel to track visitors but I often keep typing and retyping the same persons over and over.
I would like to create a database of these people but I'm stuck with how to enter and retrieve the information on a daily basis. Should I create a table with many date fields (up to several); or just two; one FROM and one TO and try to draw the information out through a query? If so, how would one ask ACCESS with a query to PRINT TODAYS LIST and another VIEW TODAYS LIST (of visitors) with a button on a form (I know how to create buttons).
I'm using Access 2010. I'm passing a string into the OpenArgs of my report - works fine. In the report there are 3 rich text fields which may contain the text I passed in, and if so I want to change the color of that text to red so it stands out.
The value passed to the report changes so I'll need to use VBA in the detail's format section to check each of the 3 rich text fields.
I need to take out the carriage returns but keep the items delimited in some way so they all apear on the one line. These are the child parts for kits so i need to keep them on one line as i import them or via a query so i can see the parent part they belong to. I can then extract them for upload into our system retaining the association with the parent part.
Any way to extract a postcode when there are double space on some and not others.
SA1 1AB (i need SA1 1AB) HU1 2AB (i need HU1 2AB) HU17 0BG (ok)
For some reason the postcode field returns 2 spaces when the postcode length is only 6 digits and 3 spaces when the postcode length is only 5 digits. Im assuming that the postcode field needs to be 8 characters in length (including a space).
All I want to to remove the addition spaces and return a normal looking postcode!
I have a DB to keep track of my employees. I have one table with named EmployeeT with the basic information like name, address, phone number, etc. And another table named EmployeeHistoryT which tell me about there hisorty in the company, basically, If they were Late, did not show up, cancelled from that day. They share a relationship threw the employee ID. IN the history table, I have DateofAction:, TypeOfAction:, and Description:. In the type of action area I have it set to were you type in what they did, wether it be Late, Did not Show up, Cancelled, etc. I want to be able to get a total about of Late, Cancels, etc. I want to know that John Smith was Late 16 times, cancelled 10 times, and Did not show up 2 times. Is this possible with only one feild.
Background I have a query (Q1) that retrives data from a table (Table 1). One of the fields in Table (F1) contains both text and numeric data (ie: 24 eggs). I want to separate these values in Q1.
Questions How can i in Q1 retrive only numeric data from F1 and display that data i a field? How can i in Q1 retrive only text from F1 and display that data i a field?
Hello, I manage an access MDB, which contains two tables. In one of the tables (Table A), I would like to insert a "Default Value" that will be extracted from the other table (Table B), everytime I add a new row.
For instance, the value I would like to extract from Table B is "900". When I add a new row in Table A, I would like it to use "900" as the "Default Value". But tomorrow, for example, the value in Table B will be "910", and so when I add new rows in Table A, I would like them to be "910", but at the same time I don't want the rows that I added a day before to change (from "900" to "910").
I tried going to the "Design View" and under the "General" tab, use the "Default Value" field by using an SQL query, but that didn't work (or maybe I just did something wrong).
And retrieving all **Basecode** if column data length >6 and with numbers '96', '78','54','15' by this query
Code: SELECT tbl1.EID,tbl1.Description,tabl1.Basecode FROM tbl1 WHERE (((Len([Basecode]))>6)AND ((Left([Basecode],2))='15')) OR (((Len([Basecode]))>6) AND ((Left([Basecode],2))='54')) OR (((Len([Basecode]))>6) AND ((Left([Basecode],2))='78')) OR (((Len([Basecode]))>6) AND ((Left([Basecode],2))='96'));
How do i get other data which won't retrieve based on above queries, other than data mentioned on these queries like this
Code: SELECT tbl1.EID,tbl1.Description,tabl1.Basecode FROM tbl1 WHERE (IsNumeric(Left(Base,1)) AND Left(Base,1) Not In ("W","N")) AND NOT (((Len([Basecode]))>6)AND ((Left([Basecode],2))='15')) OR (((Len([Basecode]))>6) AND ((Left([Basecode],2))='54')) OR (((Len([Basecode]))>6) AND ((Left([Basecode],2))='78')) OR (((Len([Basecode]))>6) AND ((Left([Basecode],2))='96'));
How can I create a field in a query, extracting the date portion of a date/time field? The format is mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss. I need just the mm/dd/yyyy so I can prompt the user for a date range, without them having to key in the date mm/dd/yyyy 00:00:00 to mm/dd/yyyy 23:59:59. Please Help
using access 2010. I have a table where I need to pull out the highest value. But sometimes; there are two or more with the same high value. I need a way to retreive the first highest value. I've done this before a while ago and I can't make it work again. I started off with grouping highest value but are getting all three same values.
Month and Days are pulled from a table called Calendar. How do I get PreviousMonth to display the Month from the previous record?
I was looking at a ranking formula, and it seems like it compares the field to the previous one, but I am not sure how to apply it to my situation. The ranking formula I was looking at:
(Select Count(*) from Data Where [ProductA1] > [Data1].[ProductA1];)+1
I have a query which I'd like to create which would be to retrieve records from a specific month of a specific year, in this format "01/14" "02/13" etc..
Obviously it would need a prompt box for the query for the user to input the month and year.
How to retrieve data from a table (via query) ? I created the below query, but I'm not sure what else is needed to retrieve the value from my SQL query. My query code is below. I'm not getting any errors.
Dim strClient As String strClient = "Jerry Davis" strSQL = " SELECT [Progress Tracking].[Client Name], [Progress Tracking].[Client Start Date], [Progress Tracking].[Start Body Weight], [Progress Tracking].[Tracking Date] FROM [Progress Tracking] WHERE [Progress Tracking].[Client Name])= ' " & strClient & " ' " MsgBox "Weight Box " & " " & strSQL
I am working on a project where I am creating a database that tracks open orders (old and new orders that still need to be billed but haven't been billed for one reason or another).
I have my "Master" table built and now I need to create 2 queries, one query retrieves the Top 20 orders based on value and that are older then 30 days and the second query is to retrieve the Top 100 orders based on the same criteria but the Top 100 query should not include the orders that appear in the Top 20 query.
My Top 20 query is below
SELECT TOP 20 MASTER.COMBO, MASTER.[Customer Name], MASTER.Status, MASTER.CCD, MASTER.Area, MASTER.[Order Type], MASTER.[Order Value], MASTER.AGE, MASTER.ANALYST, MASTER.COMMENTS FROM MASTER WHERE (((MASTER.AGE)>=30)) ORDER BY MASTER.[Order Value] DESC , MASTER.AGE;
I have tried multiple ways to do the Top 100 query and exclude what is returned in my Top 20 query but so far no success.
I'm retrieving all **Basecode** column data starts with only letters other than 'W', 'N' by this query
Code: SELECT tbl1.EID,tbl1.Description,tabl1.Basecode FROM tbl1 WHERE Not IsNumeric(Left(Basecode,1)) AND Left(Basecode,1) Not In ("W","N");
And retrieving all **Basecode** if column data length >6 and with numbers '96', '78','54','15' by this query
Code: SELECT tbl1.EID,tbl1.Description,tabl1.Basecode FROM tbl1 WHERE (((Len([Basecode]))>6)AND ((Left([Basecode],2))='15')) OR (((Len([Basecode]))>6) AND ((Left([Basecode],2))='54')) OR (((Len([Basecode]))>6) AND ((Left([Basecode],2))='78')) OR (((Len([Basecode]))>6) AND ((Left([Basecode],2))='96'));
How do i get other data which won't retrieve based on above queries, other than data mentioned on these queries like this
Code: SELECT tbl1.EID,tbl1.Description,tabl1.Basecode FROM tbl1 WHERE (IsNumeric(Left(Basecode,1)) AND Left(Basecode,1) Not In ("W","N")) AND NOT (((Len([Basecode]))>6)AND ((Left([Basecode],2))='15')) OR (((Len([Basecode]))>6) AND ((Left([Basecode],2))='54')) OR (((Len([Basecode]))>6) AND ((Left([Basecode],2))='78')) OR (((Len([Basecode]))>6) AND ((Left([Basecode],2))='96'));
I have a table in which one field badly needs separating into two. Currently, it is laid out as a mixed case text string followed by an upper case text string, e.g. O little town of Bethlehem FOREST GREEN.
I need to move the upper case string (FOREST GREEN) to a new field (and then trim the original field accordingly). Since there is no delimiter between the two parts of the field, I have no idea how to proceed. Can anyone help?
Hi Everybody, I have an access database and in a certain table I have a string field which has two values. I want to make a query that will show all the fields which contain a substring.
I'd better give an example:
Table: Kid
Fields: Name: Ben Activities: Soccer, Tennis
Name: Dan Activities: Soccer
Name: John Activities: Football, Origami
. . .
I want to show in a query all the Names which have a "Soccer" substring in their Activities string field
And I want to extract the "Submit Date" data and place them into their corresponding fields on a form:
Basically I want to take the Submit Date column from the table and place them (in the same order) in the form. How can I do so? I'm also confused as to what to select for the Control Source in the Form Design.
*Note: both "Submit Date" columns in the form and table are set to Date/Time.
