View RepliesError I'm getting 'The expression you entered contains invalid syntax, or you need to enclose your text data in quotes.
Code:
If Dcount(Nz([StatFlag]),[Books],[StatFlag]="W") >0 , ((Nz([StatFlag])) ="W" , (((Nz([StatFlag]))<>"R" And (Nz([StatFlag]))<>"M" And (Nz([StatFlag]))<>"H" And (Nz([StatFlag]))<>"P") AND ((Authors.Status)="A"))
I am receiving this error;
"Invalid SQL syntax, cannot use multiple columns in a column level CHECK constraint."
Without explaining my disaster of a situation anyone have any ideas?
I get the error invalid syntax for the following line : ( summing up figures in case GetBonus = Yes)
Bonus : iif(getBonus = -1;nz(BonusL1;0)+ NZ([BonusL2];0)+ NZ([BonusL3];0)
could you help ?
I'm using the following SQL to update a table, however it is throwing back an "Invalid UPDATE Syntax" error message.
DoCmd.RunSQL "UPDATE MSysObjects " & _
"SET Database = strInputFileName " & _
"WHERE Not IsNull(Database) ;"
Could someone possibly help me as to what is wrong with it?
Thanks
New to the list, and hoping I can get some help on a few issues I'm having in Access 2003.
I have a table where two fields represent log numbers. The fields are called "LogNo" and "LogNoPct". On occasion, the person entering the data will accidentally place the same number into both fields, which is clearly a mistake. One record should never have the same log number in both fields. So, I set up a validation rule for "LogNoPct". I just want it to check the last 4 digits of the log number and not allow the entry if both have the same last 4 digits. In the validation rule for "LogNoPct" I have this:
Right([LogNo],4)<>Right([LogNoPct],4)
Everything looks good until I try to save the changes to the table's design. When I hit SAVE I get this error:
Invalid SQL Syntax - cannot use multiple columns
in a column-level CHECK constraint.
Have no idea why its giving me this error. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I am trying to convert an excel formula into the expression builder on my form.
the excel formula is this:
IF(AND(E4>=2.65,F4<1.85),"Poor",IF(AND(E4<2.65,F4< 1.85),"Unacceptable",IF(AND(E4>=2.65,F4>=1.85,F4<2 .65),"Generally",IF(AND(E4<2.65,E4>=1.85,F4<2.65,F 4>=1.85),"Poor",IF(AND(E4<1.85,F4<2.65,F4>=1.85)," Unacceptable",IF(AND(E4>=3.45,F4<3.45,F4>=2.65),"H igh",IF(AND(E4>=2.65,E4<3.45,F4<3.45,F4>=2.65),
[Code] ....
In the expression builder I put this:
= IF(AND( [Objective Total] >=2.65, [KSF Totals] <1.85),"Poor",IF(AND( [Objective Total] <2.65, [KSF Totals] <1.85),"Unacceptable",IF(AND( [Objective Total] >=2.65, [KSF Totals] >=1.85, [KSF Totals] <2.65),"Generally",IF(AND( [Objective Total] <2.65, [Objective Total] >=1.85, [KSF Totals] <2.65, [KSF Totals] >=1.85),"Poor",
[Code] ....
It gives me an error 'expression you entered contains invalid syntax, you may have entered a comma without a preceding value.'
I am trying to run a query in Access 2010 but I am getting an "Invalid Procedure Call" error. I searched online and found that this error can be caused by broken references.
I opened the VB editor (Alt F11) to search for "Missing" references but I do not see any. These are the 4 that are checked.
1. Visual Basic for Applications
2. Microsoft Access 14.0 Object Library
3. OLE Automation
4. Microsoft Office 14.0 Access database engine Object Library
I have a query with about 7500 records that are grouped as follows and sorted by Mtr_Reading
ID Name Event_Start_Time _Hour, Mtr_Reading
2210 XYZ 7/15/2013 13:00 17 150
2210 XYZ 7/15/2013 13:00 14 143
2210 XYZ 7/15/2013 13:00 16 115
2210 XYZ 7/15/2013 13:00 15 110
2210 XYZ 7/15/2013 13:00 13 100
2210 XYZ 7/16/2013 12:00 12 100
2210 XYZ 7/16/2013 12:00 17 150
2210 XYZ 7/16/2013 12:00 14 147
2210 XYZ 7/16/2013 12:00 13 113
2210 XYZ 7/16/2013 12:00 18 110
2210 XYZ 7/16/2013 12:00 15 100
There are about 75 distinct sets of ID's and Names not shown here
The rows were sorted by the Mtr_Readings and we have to take the best four readings out of each group and average them. If a group has more than four rows then the top 4 are taken out and the balance is discarded. If the group has four rows or less all of the rows are taken.
I did try nested select statements and kept getting "invalid argument to function" exceptions.
How to DELETE rows in one table that have a field value that matches a field value from another table? Tried these but sytax errors:
DELETE * FROM tmpBankDebitsMinusJE
WHERE tmpBankDebitsMinusJE.ConcatenateBankDebits IN
(SELECT tmpJournalEntryChangeOrders.Concatenate);
DELETE FROM tmpBankDebitsMinusJE
WHERE ConcatenateBankDebits IN
(SELECT Concatenate IN tmpJournalEntryChangeOrders);
I am creating a database to analyze prices. I have 2 tables. One table has a bunch of dates, product names and the prices. There are many of the same dates and many of the same products. I.E. a product could get priced one day and than have a different price the next day.The other table has a bunch of information and dates and product names also. The goal is to add a week to the dates in this table and use that date and product name to look up the corresponding price for that date and product and add it to the record.
I am trying to use Dlookup but evey record is then filled with the same price. I am using this Expr1: DLookUp("Price","Qry_Historic_Price","[Date]=#[End Period]# And primary_id ='[primary_id']")...When I run the query I get a message that says "Syntax error in query expression" than a message box that pops and says "Unknown" with only "ok" to click.
I have a database for contacts and inventory, and im having a issue with the contacts part of it.
I have 2 tables, 1 table is a list of contacts with their name, contact information and the facility they work at. The other table, carries all the information for the facility(the tables are in a one to many relationship with this)
I have a query that brings them together and displays them on a spreadsheet form. This worked when it was all one table, but with the 2 tables, you cant edit stuff in form and have it go back to the tables . what would be the best way to make it editable. I separated the forms out like this so that if a facilities name changed, it could be fixed easily throughout the database.
Access and receive the following message after trying to run a query: Syntax error (comma) in query expression, followed by the formula I wrote on the Query Builder. I use 4 tables to run the query, but only need to trim some stuff from one of them. This table is called BD_lamosa_corregida and have already selected Expression on the Total row in Design View. This is the formula:
parte: Trim(IIf(IIf(IsError(InStr(1,[Parte],"(",1)),"",InStr(1,[Parte],"(",1))="",[Parte],Left([Parte],IIf(IsError(InStr(1,[Parte],"(",1)),"",InStr(1,[Parte],"(",1))-1)))
The formula is trying to trim the left side of an expression (Part description) which may contain a code number in parenthesis or not, it might also have this parenthesis separated by a space or not.
I have the attached code in a query. It should be bringing back just one row for each record, however, if I have anything in any column other than Call_NUmber_int it brings back multiples if that record.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a Dlookup in Access 2010 within a query using query wizard. I want to lookup the tax rate for an employee based on a salary range and their 'tax category' (string). Through troubleshooting I can get the criteria to work separately.
These are: DLookUp("Base","TABWT","[TABWT].[Taxclass] = '" & [FirstOfTaxGroup] & "'")
DLookUp("Base","TABWT",[grosspay] & " Between [TABWT]![Minimum] And [TABWT]![MaxBracket]")
These work and return the correct values for each column/row when I run the query.
However, when I combine the criteria (using the build wizard) as follows:
Expr1: DLookUp("Base","TABWT","[TABWT].[Taxclass] = '" & [FirstOfTaxGroup] & "'" and [grosspay] & " Between [TABWT]![Minimum] And [TABWT]![MaxBracket]")
The Dlookup will returns 0 values but will not give an error message.
I've tried quite a few variations on syntax and quotes and so on. However, it's just not working for me.
I'm having difficulty with the syntax in this query to remove duplicate data for the field "StocktransID".
Code:
SELECT DISTINCT tblStockTrans.StockTransID, tblItem.Brand, tblItem.Category, tblItem.SubCategory,
tblItem.Model, tblItem.Description, IIf(TransTypeID=3,Quantity*-1,Quantity) AS Qty,
tblTransaction.TranstypeID, tblItem.ItemID, tblTransaction.TransactionID, tblItem.ItemType,
tblItem.Origin, tblOption.ParentID
[code]...
I'm trying to run a very basic iif statement to correct hourly data for sorting. Basically, a trading day runs from 8am - 8am, so I need to adjust the hours to ensure that 1am on the 15th trading day (really the 16th on the calendar), comes after 9am on the 15th trading day (which will actually be the 15th on the calendar).
Here's what I've used. It's driving me bananas, because it keeps telling me that there's a syntax error (comma) in the query expression, but I can't understand why?
Sort2: IIf([DELIVERY_HOUR]<8,[DELIVERY_HOUR]+24,[DELIVERY_HOUR])
I am trying to run some diagnostics on my database. I thought a good place to start would be to look at all of the tables, the number of records each table holds, and each table's size. I have been able to find plenty of code on the web that loops through each table and provides the aforementioned data points, but the code only looks at local tables. SInce the database is split, I have a ton of tables linked to the back end that I am unable to get stats on. Any query or any code that can pull back end table stats?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am in the process of building a new database in SQL to replace my MS Access database. However, I will continue to use the Access forms, queries, and reports. The new tables will house much of the same data. In multiple tables I have hyperlinks that were created and added in the original Access tables. To import these hyperlinks into the new SQL tables I have converted them to 'Long Text' before exporting, thus changing them into strings.
For example:
Hyperlink - Email - Add Additional Mailbox to Outlook (2010) has been changed to:
Email - Add Additional Mailbox to Outlook (2010)#ServernameServerfolderDocumentationRea dy to GoOutlook TemplatesEmail - Add Additional Mailbox to Outlook (2010).oft#
The obvious issue that I am running into is that after the SQL database table has been linked to the Access database it still displays the entire string when I open the table. The form has a textbox and search button that is used as a search function. This runs a query that returns all "search results" for the desired information. Is there a way that the query can convert the string back into a hyperlink so that the query displays just Email - Add Additional Mailbox to Outlook (2010) as a hyperlink and not the entire string?
I have a query where I group by EmpID, so duplicates do not show up. In this query I have two fields with no data. These fields are to be filled in after the query is run in a form. However, these fields are not editable due to the group by feature. I tried two unbound fields, which does allow me to type, but doesn't save the changes once I click out of the field. The field then reverts back to blank.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI am trying to get Average If function to access sql. I have columns Period and Costs_Per_Capita, result should be like like this:

I have a query feeding a form. It displays Active Orders. So the SQL is:
Code:
SELECT Orders.[Order ID], Orders.[Employee ID], Orders.[Customer ID], Orders.[Order Date], Orders.[Shipped Date], [Order Price Totals].[Price Total] AS [Sub Total], Orders.[Shipping Fee], Orders.Taxes, [Sub Total]+[Shipping Fee]+[Taxes] AS [Order Total], Orders.[Ship Name], Orders.[Ship Address], Orders.[Paid Date], [Orders Status].[status name] AS Status
FROM [Orders Status] RIGHT JOIN (Orders LEFT JOIN [Order Price Totals] ON Orders.[Order ID] = [Order Price Totals].OrderID) ON [Orders Status].[Status ID] = Orders.[Status ID]
ORDER BY Orders.[Order ID] DESC;
It has worked for the past year. However today is gives me an Invalid Use of Null error and will not load.
I am getting this invalid use of bracketing error Set objMyRecordset = CurrentDb.OpenRecordset("select itemno from " & Chr(34) & "[" & icitem & "]" & Chr(34))
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've created a query to identify payees with only initial instead of first name for cheque payments.The query produces the correct results as far as I have seen so far.

I have the following in a query to assign a sequence number to each record:
(SELECT Count(*) FROM
[qryPTLActivity] AS T WHERE T.EmployeeID=[qryPTLActivity].[EmployeeID] AND T.PickDateTime <= [qryPTLActivity].[PickDateTime] AND T.PickAisle=[qryPTLActivity].[PickAisle])
I have used this in other databases without issue but for some reason this time I keep getting an "Invalid Argument for Function" error.
I am trying to determine the best method for linking back to a form from Queries.I have a Form that has info filled out for customer service calls that come in. Among which is a case#. From the Log of information stored from these forms queries have been made to organize the info in different ways; all of which have the case#. What I am trying to do is that in looking at a the queries I want them to be able to click on a case number and be transferred to the appropriate form. This way they can update the form as the case progresses.I am trying to improve upon what was created by another.
