Query - Records Within A Certain Range
Aug 14, 2006
Hello,
I've been wrestling with this problem for a while now and any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
I have a single table containing flight data. Each record represents a single flight. What I'm attempting to do is count of pairs of flights that come within a certain range of each other. For simplicity sake, let's say that any flights A and flights B passing through Point X within a certain window of time (-15/+15 minutes) of each other are counted as a pair. Each record has a unique numeric key and all the neccessary information. Getting a table of all the possible matches is easy. The tricky part however, is that I only want to count each pair once. Is there any way this can be done with an SQL query?
I apologize in advance if this isn't specific enough. I would really appreciate any feedback whatsoever.

I have two questions, both the same query.
I need a date prompt and null records in the same line of criteria so I get all those within a certain date range under the field "CO_resp_rcvd" and those that didn't respond yet but need to -- is that possible to do both and if so how would you show me how?
This is what I have currently in my query
CO_resp_rcvd (date field)
Criteria: Between [Start Date] And [End Date]
(I need null values as well because there will be some if the CO has not responded yet but needs to)
Formula:
This formula gives me the number of bus days from the Review Date - CO_Resp_Rcvd Date and that works but if the CO-Resp-Rcvd date is null, I need it to calculate Review Date - Today's date to show the number of days outstanding for those that have not responded yet in the same formula?
Not sure how to combine it to work - the wrapper is a bus day function
This is what I have so far in the query
CO-Bus Days to Respond: Wrapper([Review Date],[CO_resp_recd]) but if CO_resp_recd is null then ([Review Date],Date())

First, I am trying to get a query to return records between a certain date range. In the form I have DateFrom and DateTo unbound text boxes from which faculty select the date range. I know I have done this before, but I cant figure out how to create a field name and write the criteria for the source query in design mode!
I tried [Form]![FormName]![DateFrom]<[Form]![FormName]![DateTo] in the criteria but I can't seem to write a valid field name that doesn't alter the criteria in some way...
Second, in the same form, faculty enter the StudentID for the student they wish to get records for. How do I write the code to show a msgbox when there is no such ID in the event they enter an StudentID incorrectly.

I have what I think is a simple query returning the names of students that have been dismissed since September 2012 using a "WithdrawnDate" field. The query pulls a lot of information from other related tables (about 6 different ones), and has two expressions.
When the criteria is set to either "Is Not Null" or a date range (which is all I need), it does not return the complete set of records based on the data that fits the criteria in the main table?
Could there be some sort of join preventing all records from being returned?

I have a table that has entries recorded with date and time in one field, and I want to have a query that returns all records of a specified date or date range, regardless of the time in the field.
I have tried
Code:
Between [StartDate:] And [EndDate:]
And
Code:
Between [StartDate:] & "00:00" And [EndDate:] & "23:59"
Neither of which work ....

Was just wondering how i go about pulling out a range of records. I do not want to use my Primary Key autonumber value as some records have been deleted and selecting a range of 10 to 50 for example will not guarentee 40 records. Is there some way i can use an SQL command in the SQL View window to achieve this?
Cheers

Is there a statement that will allow me to select a range of records in the
middle of a selection of records? e.g. Rather than TOP 10, can I get like
records 10-20, or 50-65 etc?

I have a query that selects usage records from a table where a data field falls within a rolling 12-month period that ends on a month and year selected by the user on a form.
PARAMETERS [Forms]![frmReport]![cboMonth] Short, [Forms]![frmReport]![txtYear] Long;
SELECT UsageID, dtUsage, dblUsage
FROM tblUsage
WHERE (((DateDiff("m",[dtUsage],DateSerial([Forms]![frmReport]![txtYear],[Forms]![frmReport]![cboMonth],1))) Between 0 And 11));
I also have a query that pulls data between two dates that the user specifies using two textboxes on a form.
SELECT UsageID, dtUsage, dblUsage
FROM tblUsage
WHERE (((tblUsage.dtUsage) Between [Forms]![frmReport]![txtStartDate] And [Forms]![frmReport]![txtEndDate]));
On the form I have an Option Group control that sets the visible properties of the 4 controls;
12-Month Rolling
cboMonth - Month Combobox
txtYear - User entered year
Date Range
txtStartDate - User entered Start Date
txtEndDate - User entered End Date
What I was planning on doing was adding two new textboxes (txtQryStart & txtQryEnd) and depending on what option is selected, change the dates accordingly
blnDateRange = (Me.optDate = 1)
blnMonth = (Me.optDate = 2)
If blnDateRange Then
Me.txtQryStart = Me.txtStartDate
Me.txtQryEnd = Me.txtEndDate
End If
If blnMonth Then
If Me.cboMonth = 12 Then
EndMonth = 1
EndYear = Me.txtYear + 1
StartMonth = EndMonth
StartYear = Me.txtYear
Else
EndMonth = Me.cboMonth + 1
EndYear = Me.txtYear
StartMonth = EndMonth + 1
StartYear = Me.txtYear - 1
End If
Me.txtQryStart = DateSerial(StartYear, StartMonth, 1) - 1
Me.txtQryEnd = DateSerial(EndYear, EndMonth, 1)
End If
Now I can use one query to accomplish both types of query;
SELECT UsageID, dtUsage, dblUsage
FROM tblUsage
WHERE (((tblUsage.dtUsage) Between [Forms]![frmReport]![txtQryStart] And [Forms]![frmReport]![txtQryEnd]));
This approach works. It saves me from having to duplicate the queries and some future headache if anything needs to be changed in the queries.
What I was wondering is there an better/simpler way to do this?
:confused:

I am trying to create a form that will select records by date range. The form contains 2 textboxes, with pop-up calendars to select dates. I managed to come up with this code, however, it's not working. Whenever I run the code, my database just goes blank, as though it's selecting something that is not in the records.
Code:
Private Sub Command16_Click()
Dim Task As String
Dim startDate As Date
Dim endDate As Date
startDate = Me.Text12
endDate = Me.Text14
Task = "SELECT * FROM Final WHERE Final.Timestamp BETWEEN #" & startDate & "# AND #" & endDate & "#;"
Me.RecordSource = Task
End Sub
How does one actually do the date range search? Could it be because my timestamp actually has both date and time, that's why the date search is not working?

I am looking for a way to use vb, or any other way, to allow my users to enter a railcar initial and then a number sequence and add new records to the end of the table.
For example in a form the user can enter the car initial and the number sequence
Railcar initial: GATX
Number sequence : 290001 - 290100
I would like a way to create a temp table that then has 100 records
GATX 290001
GATX 290002
GATX 290003
etc etc.
I can then use this temp table in an append query to add them to my main table.

I have developed a Debt Management program for work but I am stuck on a feature that we need to add to it. Basically I have a table which holds "planned future transactions". These are ad hoc transactions that need to be added from time to time to the clients budget. For example the client might have $500 a quarter for school fees for the next two years or he might receive a bonus every six months for the next 5 years. Currently we are putting these in manually but it is tedious and is causing complaints. The feature I require is to be able to add a record such as the school fees, nominate that this fee is paid every three months for the next 8 quarters and get the system, say through an append query? to create 8 records, each with the appropriate date 3 months after the previous one.
Any suggestions or assistance would be appreciated.
Thankyou

I've got a single table with multiple fields, three of which are a date field ('DDate'), a time field ('TimeET') and a unique identifying field ('Unique Call Key'). I'm attempting to write a query in the QBE that will allow me to count the number of instances of 'UniqueCallKey' for each hourly time interval (7:00:00 AM - 7:59:59 AM, 8:00:00 AM - 8:59:59 AM, 9:00:00 - 9:59:59 AM, etc) for any selected date range (BETWEEN 'DDate'(1) AND 'DDate'(2)). When I try to simply use the Count function on 'UniqueCallKey' as an Expression and 'TimeET' with 'Like '7:*AM' as a Where criteria then do the same with another instance of 'UniqueCallKey' and 'Like 8:*AM' as the criteria for a second Where criteria for 'TimeET' the query returns an empty set. What I'm trying to accomplish would be a column of dates, a second column that counts the number of instances of 'UniqueCallKey' at the 7AM interval for each date in column 1, a third column that counts the number of instances of 'UniqueCallKey' at the 8AM interval for each date in column 1, etc to a final column for counts at 7PM.

I work for a company that manufactures home appliances & electronics. When those products fail within the warranty period, we are obligated to repair the units for the customers.
We have around 200 factory technicians who make those repairs. Each tech is able to make approximately 8 repairs each day. We have a dispatching system that assigns the repairs to the techs based on their availability each day. But the problem is that we have to manually enter and adjust the schedule for all 200 techs every single day, and this takes a lot of time. And of course technicians get sick, take vacation, etc, so we have to adjust the schedule so no techs will be assigned calls when they're off.
The problem: For example, currently when a technician takes off for 2 weeks, the user has to enter 14 individual records for the tech, which is somewhat time consuming. What I need is to program a button click event to determine the two dates (startDate & endDate) and append multiple records from one single entry in the form for each date in between and including the two date fields.
I know I'll probably need to create a loop that will loop through the two dates on the form and append a record for each day, so I can then cross reference the dates to the master schedule dates to make sure that no availability is opened for the techs taking time off.

I have a client that wants to enter a range of dates in a query of when they will call that person back. Then they want to be able to type in a range of dates and have a make table query show them all the people that fall in between these two dates....is this even possible???
Ex.
Joe March 3 to March 8
Mary March 4 to March 9
John March 5 to March 10
So if they type into the query March 3 to March 6 all three people should show up because one of the dates specified lies within the parameters they are asking for.....man I am out of ideas

Below is a table that I want to look up from a query. Basically I want to look up a value (e.g 3.56) and find which PRA it fits in so in this case 3.56 is between 3 and 6 so the value returned is 0.7. Where it gets complacted is that the 3.56 is generated on the fly in the query. Can I use a dlookup with a range. Ive tried but the syntax is wrong i think. DateDiff_RepToMat is the generated field (3.56)Any help or suggestion are appreciatedx = DLookup("PRA", "tab_ref_MaturityRiskRatings", [DateDiff_RepToMat] BETWEEN [RangeLow] and [RangeHigh])RangeLowRangeHighPRA0 1 0.003 6 0.46 12 0.7

I am trying to extract records within a certain date range.
My structure is as follows:
Query 1 = pulls data direct from a table. There is a date field which is in the format YYYYMMDD.
Query 2 = pulls data from Query 1 and amends the date format to:
dd/mm/yyyy
Has anyone any suggestions on how I pull data from query 2 from within a certain date range. i.e 01/01/2005 to 01/05/2005
Thanks

I have a query which requires date parameters, which the user enters into a form. The form enters the parameters into 4 different queries then runs them to produce a report.
This all works fine EXCEPT for one query.
If I enter my desired date range into the query (in this case it is between 01/11/2004 and 30/04/2005) it returns no results. As the only values in the date fields of the table are 01/03/2005 and 01/04/2005 it should return all the records.
However if I enter the date range between 01/01/2005 and 30/04/2005 it works fine. It also works if I enter 01/01/2000 and 31/05/2005 - it just doesn't seem to like the year 2004!!!
The problem occurs whether I enter the parameters from the form or simply type them into the criteria of the query. Any ideas, it's driving me nuts!!

I am using access to store logged maintenance actions. There are two 12 hour shifts and I want to create a report that the crews can show to the oncoming crew of all maintenance performed over the last shift. For example, the day shift is from 4am to 4pm and the night is 4 pm to 4am, and I want the night shift to hand day shift a report with all records from the last day 4pm-4am.
Here is the where clause in my query, I can't seem to get it to work, but I'm not too familiar with dates and times in Access.
WHERE (((tblMSL.Date)=Date() Or (tblMSL.Date)=(Date()-1))
AND ((tblMSL.Time) Between #16:0:0# And #4:0:0#))

Hello all
I was wondering if anybody could help me out with a query problem I've been having.
I've been trying to use a query to display a list of available cars for a given start and end date entered by the users. I have found some guidance to make an attempt but it isn't working. The text in the Input boxes isn't what I'd like. Also the query is displaying all the cars in my database even when I deliberately trying to exclude some.
I'd really appreciate any help As this is my first database and Im really struggling with the use of criteria.
I've included a screen grab including my formulas

I am trying to design a report that uses a range of dates as column headers. The row headers are vehicles and the intersection between the columns and rows will display details about that day's vehicle usage.
To do this I need a query that will produce a row of date headers based on parameters from a form. Also, the report needs to display date headers even for days on which no events occur.
Any ideas?

hello
I've set up a query which contains among others the following fields
ProjectID
WorkstreamID
MonHoursDate
MonHours
MonHoursDate and Monhours come from another query where the date is a calculated value.
If I now run the query, it works and lists the hours done for that project.
If I enter the following expression in the criteria for MonHoursDate
Between [Start] And [End]
and then run the query and enter start and end dates, I get nothing.
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? The date formats are set to Medium Date and follow the following fomat DD/MM/YYYY
Thanks
