Query On Similar Address Fields

Oct 9, 2005

I am new at Access, but I am trying to run a query on two tables where the linking field is the address field.

One table has addresses storred as "123 Elm Street #123" and the other stores them as "123 Elm St. Apt. 123"

Is there any way to run this query on these two tables with this difference in the address fields?

Query How To Show A Temp Address Over A Perm Address

Jun 19, 2007

Hope you can help!

I have an access table which lists a customers address, however, if the customer has a temporary address it will also list that on a separate line -

CustID Address Type
1234 5 The Street P
1234 12 The Street T
2345 13 The Road P
3456 12 The Avenue P

Where P = Permanent and T = Temporary

I want to set up a query to show the permanent address where there is only one address, but where the customer has a temporary address also, I want to list the temporary one instead.

Thanks

Joining Tables With Similar Fields?

Sep 18, 2015

How would I go about joining tables with similar fields? I currently have three tables that show standings of teams (East, Central, and West). They all have the same fields:

East
Team Name
Wins
Losses
Ties
Points For
Points Against

Central
Team Name
Wins
Losses
Ties
Points For
Points Against

West
Team Name
Wins
Losses
Ties
Points For
Points Against

How would I combine them in a query so that all of the data from the tables are compiled into one table:

Overall Standings (East/Central/West)
Team Name
Wins
Losses
Ties
Points For
Points Against

Tables :: Similar Option To Multivalue Lookup Fields

Apr 16, 2013

Is there another field that can be used beside the lookup field in an Access table? I am currently using the lookup field as a multivalued lookup field and I am limited to the the things I can do with it when creating a report or a query on that field. Is there a similar field in Access 2010 that has the same look as a lookup field and allows for multiple values to be selected?

Splitting Address Into Seperate Fields

Jul 22, 2007

Hi,

I have a an address field in my current MS Access table that has records following this sort of format eg. 21 Brown St, 21/56 Smith St

I want to separate every word in this field in to it's own field eg. field1=21
field2=Brown
field3=St
Addresses come in different formats (see examples above, with / or - etc.)

I'd like some code to complete this in VBA - please note I'm very new to programming so unfortunately everything must be explained.

Thanks

Reports :: Shrink Blank Address Fields When There Is Other Data?

Mar 21, 2013

I designed and used an Access 2003 for some time but I have recently updated to Access 2013 and want to rejig and improve my database. My query is that I need to print invoices from my database, there is a header section with my details, then a section with the customers name and address at the left hand side, and the invoice details such as invoice number, invoice date, PO number, credit terms, etc. at the right hand side. I would like to remove any blank lines from the customers address but to still have the invoice details at the right formatted and spaced correctly. Is there any way of doing this, the canshrink property will not work due to the invoice details which still need to be printed to the right?

Forms :: New Postal Address Fields And Mail Merge?

Jul 2, 2014

I do have another problem with my "Membership Monster" After designing the base with only registential Addess information in the data entry Form. I had to include fields for a separate postal address. This only applies to maybe 10 of 400 entries is there a simple clever way I can copy this data over to the new postal detail fields from the Residential detail feilds ? I thought it may be possible to set thee residential fields as source data. But I am unsure if it is then possible to enter different data over the top if the postal address is different.

I also then need to be able to mail merge the postal details of current members so as print out address labels for the magazine.

Similar Records In The Same Query?

Oct 28, 2005

This is a tough one. I am developing golf management software. There is a table of caddies. And there is a table of members. The Caddies carry two bags each one for each member. They are assigned their jobs through an assignment form. Therefore, a single caddie will carry for Member1 and Member 2.

Now I need to produce a report of how many times each member plays. So how can I query the assignment table where Member 1 and Member 2 fields exist so that I can have a single field of allMembers so that I can count their rounds in a report.

Thanks.....Jeff

Crosstab Query Or Similar?

Dec 13, 2005

Hi,

I am trying to query on a table, predominantly made up of check boxes, so that I can get a summary which essentially shows the number of 'checks' in each field within a given date range. I have attached a Word file, which should explain exactly what I would like to achieve.

If anyone can help me I would be extremely grateful.

Many thanks and best wishes

Queries :: Multiple Similar Table Into 1 Query?

Sep 11, 2013

I'm doing a database for a friend and the challenge I have is there will be a lot of attachments going into this database, which will hit the 2gb file size limit in no time.

My solution is have each year of attachment in a separate databases and link them to the main database. The attachment are tax documents.

They table layout is all the same. It will be like this:

TaxYear, ClientID, 1040, 1040NR, 1040X, etc.....

TaxYear will be whatever year the database is designated and ClientID is the client for that particular year. The same client can shows up in multiple years.

I have thought of inserting each table in a form, but when a new year come, the form will need to be adjusted. And it will has empty field if a client skip a year or two.

Append Query Key Violation (as Used In Create Similar Record)

Oct 18, 2007

I have a database of Assessments, each record having multiple subforms.

I am working on a button, which creates a "similar" (same) assessment, copying over all the subform records/selections.

So, after I actually insert a new assessment, pasting all the values from the original Assessment:

DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdSelectRecord
DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdSaveRecord
DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdCopy
DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdPasteAppend

I need to copy over subform contents, for which I use an Append Query (actually, I use its SQL in VBA code to pass it the right parameters).

Now, naturally, I ran into Key Violations, because taking 50 sub-records from the original they would have their own AutoNumber Keys (ID's) and I can't append them into the same table.

My question: how do I copy over the same records (appending FROM and TO the same table) but cause the table to insert AutoNumbers for the records being appended?

Thanks!

Email Address, Web Address, Hyperlinks, Etc..

Aug 9, 2006

I have a form bound to a table which stores contact info for a person. I have two controls that are email_address and website_address. I set them both as hyperlinks.
So now when the user clicks on the email_address Outlook opens a new message with an email_address in the To field. (I had to use a function found on this forum to replace the "htttp" with "mailto" on AfterUpdate event in order for this to work properly.) However, now trying to add some other features to my DB I ran into problems listed below. I wonder if I should have rather left that control as Text instead of Hyperlink, and use the DoCmd.SendObject on doubleclick event instead of using the above solution.
How people usually store email addresses and enable emailing on click?

The problems I ran into:
1) My main form is in popup mode and therefore right click on the hyperlink does not give an option to edit the hyperlink
2) I copied a function from this forum which gathers a list of emails and sends one message to the emaillist. However, my email list instead of generating as:
email1@a.com; email2@b.com
it generates as:
email1@a.com#mailto:email1@a.com#; email2@b.com#email2@b.com#

I guess I could extract the email using vba (not sure how), but I still don't know how to solve issue number 1. So maybe it is better to siwtch the field to plain text and forget the hyperlinks?

Thanks,
Mariusz

PS. What procedure on double click would open a default browser, since I also have to deal with web addresses and thought of turning them into text controls?

Query Address Help

Jun 29, 2006

I have an address all in the one line at the moment. My front end has been programmed this way. Now I have to split the address into 3 or 5 lines. The address looks like this:

3 Thorn Road Edinburgh Scotland G68 2AA

The post code is in a seperate field so that makes it easier for me.

This is the query i have.

UPDATE Clients SET Clients.Address1 = Left([Address],InStr([Address],",")), Clients.Address2 = mid([Address],InStr([Address],",")), Clients.Address3 = Right([Address],InStr([Address],","));

If it was looking for this address: 34 Thornwood Road, Kilmarnock, Aryshire. It would produce

Address1 = 34 Thornwood Road, = Correct
Address2 = kilmarnock, Ayrshire ,= Should be kilmarnock
Address3 = nock, Ayrshire = Should be Ayrshire

tried all different ways and it meeses up can someone point me in the right direction.

Thanks

Keep 5 Similar Tables Updated

Apr 2, 2008

I have 5 tables which comes from different departments in our company.
All of them have the same key "project no" but hold different information in other colums.
As a starting point I have secured that they all have same no. of records meaning all "project no" are in all tables but some table might not contain other information in that record than the project no.
I have put them into a quirie and on a form I am able to look at all data from all 5 tables.
I have linked them one to one and it works fine untill I add a record to one of the tables. Afterwards I am not able to write into fields from other tables because there is no automatic creation of the record in the other tables.
Please How would this be best/easiest to make for me. ?
The reason why I have to keep the 5 tables is that regular updates are avaiable form any of them.

Appricate any comments which can make me any progress.

These records are not duplicates as other field values in these records are different. I've tried several sql scripts and Access methodologies but can't get valid results.

Thanks,
