Do I Need Zero Length String Query

Jan 22, 2007

In a database that holds membership records, I have three years worth of info relating to membership dues paid. I want to extract who has not paid a membership fee for the last three years, so we can strike them off our records, i.e. I have members' personal details, but there are no records in the payments table, nothing has been entered because they just have not paid. Do I run a query looking for a zero length string? Just how do I achieve this? Have I done right in not entering anything?

Help appreciated!

Criteria Text Length Issues With Query

Oct 13, 2005

Hi All,

I've been developing the code below but when the length of .lstAnswers is longer than 128 it doesn't delete the question.
Is there a reason under queries or SQL this should happen? I'm hoping that i'm just thick and there's an easy answer but nothing seems to work.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Private Sub cmdRemoveAnswer_Click()
Dim Answers_SQL As String
Answers_SQL = "DELETE tblOptions.* " & _
"FROM tblOptions " & _
"WHERE (((tblOptions.strAnswer)=[Forms]![frmQuestionWizard]![lstAnswers]) AND ((tblOptions.strQuestion)=[Forms]![frmQuestionWizard]![lstQuestion])) OR (((tblOptions.strAnswer) Is Null))"
DoCmd.RunSQL Answers_SQL, 0
lstAnswers.Requery
End Sub

Modules & VBA :: Search CSV To Find Specific Statement / Text On Specific Line?

Jul 8, 2015

how to read a specific line in a CSV file (using VBA), to see if the phrase "There are no records available." is present.

If it is present, then I'm going to do a debug.print stating that there are no records to load - and then the script will move on to the next file. If the phrase isn't present, then I'm going to upload the file to Access, parse the information, and then upload it to a CRM. (I already have the latter portion of the code up and running....I just need to account for the first part, where I can determine if the file has data or not).

The structure of the file never changes. The first row is composed of eight column headers (Post Date, Card Number, Card Type, Auth Date, Batch Date, Reference Number, Reason, Amount) and (if) the phrase "There are no records available." is present, it will show up on the second row, in the first column (under Post Date).

Exporting To A Specific Excel Spreadsheet, And A Specific Worksheet/cells

Oct 6, 2005

Hi,

I have recently been doing a lot of work on this area. Im able to export to where i want to and run macros through the VBA code inside of Access to edit the spreadsheets. This is ok if your making a new excel workbook/worksheet.

But what im stuck on is exporting to a so called template in excel. I can export to it at the moment but creating a new worksheet, in which i have to then cut and paste the data into the correct worksheets through code and then delete the worksheet that i had been working from (which is annoying because you have to confirm the deletion of this worksheet, which is why i couldnt really do the process this way).

What i want to know is there a specific way of telling the data you are exporting from a table/query/querydef to go into a certain worksheet and into a certain cell. For example; a list of names, i want all the Surnames to go into a worksheet called "Claim_Breakdown" and start from cell "A15" downwards until they have all been exported into the worksheet.

Anyone have any ideas on how i could achieve this? Thanks.

Pulling Specific Data For Specific Date Range

Jul 14, 2007

so i have an interesting question and im hoping that someone can help on this one. i need to pull date from a specific table, no problem, that's written and working fine, next i need to be able to join the data from another table by a primary key, again no problem. third, i need to be able to select the date (using WHERE) for a specific date range. (i.e. i enter the date range of 01/7/2007 to 15/7/2007) and the query comes back only showing the data from that specific time, not the data from before or after. this is where my problem lies, all the entered data is being shown after entering my date range. i am going to include my SQL statement, just so you can actually see what im really talking about.

SELECT srealest.Name0, srealest.Dist1, SREpayments.Face2Pd, SREpayments.Penalty2Pd, SREpayments.[2paid], SREpayments.Face3Pd, SREpayments.Penalty3Pd, SREpayments.[3paid], SREpayments.Face4Pd, SREpayments.Penalty4Pd, SREpayments.[4paid], srealest.Map, srealest.Parcel, srealest.LeaseHold, srealest.TaxRebate1, srealest.TaxFace1, srealest.TaxPenalty1, srealest.TaxYear, srealest.BillNo, srealest.PdRebate1, srealest.PdFace1, srealest.PdPenalty1, srealest.DatePd
FROM SREpayments INNER JOIN srealest ON SREpayments.BillNo=srealest.BillNo
WHERE (((SREpayments.[2paid]) Between Forms![SD SRE]![Beginning Date] And Forms![SD SRE]![Ending Date]) Or ((SREpayments.[3paid]) Between Forms![SD SRE]![Beginning Date] And Forms![SD SRE]![Ending Date]) Or ((SREpayments.[4paid]) Between Forms![SD SRE]![Beginning Date] And Forms![SD SRE]![Ending Date])) Or (((srealest.DatePd) Between Forms![SD SRE]![Beginning Date] And Forms![SD SRE]![Ending Date]))
ORDER BY srealest.Name0;

any thoughts or ideas on how to accomplish this would be greatly appreciated!

String Length.

Aug 19, 2005

I have a fax number field iwhich has a mask. +(000)-00-000-000 in a table of many records.
The problem is that every record has a number in the first part of country code +(001)which must have come there by mistakes, few records have complete and true fax numbers.

I need a query that can Update this Fax_Number field where the length of the string is less than 7 digits.
Some thing like UPDATE Contacts SET Contacts.Fax_Number = ""
WHERE ((Len("Fax_Number")>"6"));

How can i do this. Thanks.

Length & Width

Dec 2, 2005

I've notice a situation in a few databases. One is where we track sidewalk construction. There are two called fields LENGTH and WIDTH. In my report I have text box with the control source =[Length]*[Width]. However it returns some bogus number. If I change the field names to something else like Width1, it works fine.

Any ideas?
Thanks,
SKK

Locking A Specific Field Of A Specific Record

Oct 3, 2005

Hello, I have just spent ages doing searches and reading everything I can on locking. But, I have yet to find an answer as to how I can lock a specific field in a specific record.

e.g. Staff enter customer details, then at the end of the day the admin (me) checks it over and presses a big old button that stops them from locking certain fields in the current record only - they must still have access to the unlocked fields of the current record, and it must not lock any other records.

I'm guessing there's some VB code in the form of fieldname.lock = true, but then it locks the field throughout the whole table!

Can anyone tell me how to do this please?

Memo Field Length

Mar 26, 2007

Hello,

If I read the documentation then memo field in a Access table can be 65.000 chars long.
I have three memo fields in a linked ODBC table which is filled by a append query from SQL-server database. The text in these field is cut off by 255 chars.
Does somebody know what the cause of this can be?

1. Is there a limitation/property where I can configure the length of Access memo field? DAO? I have read something about this but I don't understand this.

2. How can I trace that everything is send from the source? Maybe it's cut off at the source site. On this moment I don't know something about a Linked tabel.
Is there a sniffer or trace tool so that I can see what kind of data is realy send?

Thanks in advance

Nico

Storage Length Of Field

Apr 2, 2008

Hi everyone,

I am using a table that stores data and one of the fields is just a text field with a maximum length of 10.

However, when I store the data in the field, if I only enter 5 letters in it, it stores the 5 letter word correctly but followed by some spaces (I assume 5 spaces but I may be wrong.

I cannot figure out why does anyone know why?

If not, then can I trim the field if I use it in a query/report?

Thanks.
Gareth.

Code Length Too Long On One Row Help!

Apr 14, 2008

I have written a bit of code in a Microsoft Access 97. The code basically creates a Microsoft outlook message. I am trying to add in the message that I want to display in Outlook by using the MyMessage ="" command. But the message I want to add is too long to fit on one line of code - I get to the end of the line and can no longer type any more! I have tried to add the second part of the message to the next line but all I get is an "Expected line number or label or statement or end of statement" error message. I think this might be because access keeps putting a " at the end of the first line - every time I remove it and add the " to the end of the second line it keeps adding it back to the end of the first line!

any ideas would be gratefully received!!!!!

Changing Zero Length To Null

Nov 7, 2005

in my db, all fields that aren't required default to a zero-length string.

In some reports (like mailing labels) I want the rows that contain no information (like the second Address line) to "shrink". I set all my properties to "can shrink" etc., but of course it's not working, because the value of the "empty" fields is "" instead of Null.

Is there a way I can write an IIF statement that will set the value of the field to Null if it contains a zero-length string?
