Query To Automatically Get Updated Each Time A Table Is Added
Jun 2, 2014
Is it possible for a query to automatically get updated each time a table is added. For example I am looking at prices and each month a new table of information is added for that month and I use a query to view each month next to each other. Is there a way that each time I add a table the query will automatically update?
I have an employee and asset database. If an employee gets fired, I need remove them from the general employee records, but I want to save a record of that employee. Is there a way to delete an employee from one table and have it automatically added to another table?
I am trying to automatically update one table to another each time a new record is added to my form, I have tried using the Update and the Append Query is there another way to do this without using code?
I have a database that stores information for lab testing. Each time a tech does a "step" in the test process he logs it in the table, using an input form. There are different categories, for example preparation, testing, analysis, etc, and each of those steps take time. I have the form autopopulate the date and time with NOW() evertime the form is updated. What i want to do is calculate the time it takes to do each in days. I can easily get how many days it was from now since they logged the test, =NOW()-TestDateTime. What I want to do is get the number of days it took to do each step, ie the number of days between each event. Is there a way to do this?
I have a Table Sales - that lists customer and order information
Most of the customers are new - is there a way to populate Customer Name Table with a new entry each time a new customer is input into the Sales Tale
(Without having to add the custome to Customer Name Table - then going to Sales Order) OR Failing that - is there a way to use a list box that points to Customer Name Table (and if it doesn't find the one you want, will allow you toadd a new record) In the SAME form as you use to add to Sales Table.
So: Date (textbox linking to form.Sales) Customer Name (List Box linking to form.CustomerName + adding the info to form.Sale)
I have a main form called "frmMain" and on it I have a text control named "txtBoatStatus". The control source for txtBoatStatus is determined by code that I have in the Form_Current event. The code is as follows:
txtBoatStatus.Value = "There are " & BoatStatus & " boat orders that are complete."
(end code sample)
Now when I first open the frmMain everything works great and the control will say, "There are 5 boat orders that are complete." Perfect. However, In the instance if I open the form with my Boat Orders and mark off another order as complete (bringing my total to 6), the txtBoatStatus does not update when I reopen frmMain. It will only update and show, "There are 6 boat orders that are complete." if I manually hit SHIFT+F9.
How can I do this automatically? I've tried various things such adding "Me.Recalc" or "Me.Requery" to differnt events, controls, etc. but I still cant get it to show the updated number automatically. How can I get it to update without SHIFT+F9?
I have a simple and small database having only one table. I want the data table to be exported in a spreadsheet format automatically at the end of the month. Is there any code or function to do that?
I've inherited a rather large Access DB with many tables, forms, reports, and queries. I need to duplicate a process, but I'm having trouble finding the update qry that creates new records in a table.
I could write my own, but I am trying to create an exact duplicate so I'd really like to see the code that creates the new records for a specific table.
Hello, I have created a form to enable data to be easily added to the database table, however does anybody know why the query that looks up the records from the table does not return the new entered records, only what was originally in the table? Thanks
I have a database used to track my personal assignments, created about six years ago using Access 2003 on Windows XP. Recently upgraded to Access 2010 on Windows 7. At some point thereafter, I started having the following issue:
When a new record is created, that record gets added to the table, but doesn't show-up in any query, form, or report until after another new record has been added. The most recently added record cannot be located to view or update, except in the table, until after another new record has been added to the table. Queries, forms, & reports now always lag behind by one record.
None of the queries, forms, or reports tested contain filters. I have several multi-user databases that I also support and none of those users have reported having this problem. This is only happening on my personal database.
I've re-created this database once or twice in the past to resolve other issues, but would like to avoid that route this time around, if possible.
Hi, I have a form which is made up for 3 tables and I am trying to create an append query for each one in order to keep records of data before it is updated. The append queries seem to work but they append all data rather than just one selected record. I know I will next need to create a macro which can be used each time a record has been updated and a copy is sent to the archive. Can anyone help me with this, or have any useful suggestions?
This works but the problem i have is, when i add an entry via a form or do anything else via a form. This does not get updated?. I check the properties of the table and that isn't either.
When i then modify something manually in the table (go in and change it). It then updates.
Is there something im doing wrong or is there a better way to check the last updated.
My office workstation took a very long time to connect to database in Access 2003 after upgrading to Windows XP, a few minutes need to be taken just to open a simple form which normally takes less than 10 seconds. In simple words, whenever it has to retrieve data from the db, it will be super lagging .
The rest of the workstations running on Windows 2000 were running perfectly fine.
The database is located on the host pc, which is running Windows 2000.
Initially we suspected that it might be because of the insufficient RAM. Thus it was changed from 1GB to 2GB. But even after changing to 2GB, the problem still exists.
Can anyone please advice me on how to check and rectify this problem? What can be the cause of this problem?
I have two fields in my form contained Start time and End time. Currently, Both fields using default Time$() on form. However, End time always wrong because until we get our job done, It took atleast 20 or 30 minutes more than current default time. My question is, is there any way I can setup the End time to just click on it, and a new current default time populated?
Okay I have two tables in a query.tblMain and tblStatestblStates has a control number and a state name.tblMain has the same control number as well as a bunch of customer info. The query is simply tblMain.* and then the state name from tblStates. It pulls the information correctly when I link the control number. However, I cannot update the information. If it just has the tblMain table in the query then I can update everything. As soon as I add the tblStates I can't update anything, even if I don't link the two together. Can someone help me figure out what is going on?The reason I have to have a seperate table is that this is for pulling a contracted state which can be different than the customers state, and the only way it is listed in our system is by number so it has to use this number as a reference and then pull up the state name.
Displaying the 'Last Modified' dates and time on a form. How to go about doing what I want to do.
I would like to display on a form in one single field the date & time that any of the fields on that form were changed and. I would like to display it in such a way that it cannot be altered by anyone. If it is possible to capture and display on the form in a separate field which user account accessed and changed the record then all the better. Obviously if nothing is updated then the date and time stays the same.
I will have to create two new fields in the table that relates to the form and this I have done - one of format Date/Time and one of format Text.
I am using Access 2007. I have an ODBC source feeding data into a table, to which I made a crosstab query that displays the useful data from that source. I need a way to add data(new field), using a form, that is a associated with the lines in the query. I've tried creating another table that uses the sample ID as the primary key, but I need it to automatically create a new row for each query line. Is there a way to do this, or better way to add data to a query. Examples are below.
A field in a table can be populated by a lookup up but it has to be done manually or with a form.A "new" table can be created with a query that matches the data.
Is it possible to skip these steps and create a field that automatically populates with the data from another table based on other common data?I can do this in Excel but not sure it can be done in Access.
I am trying to get the current time to display in the same record as an identity number. I am using a barcode scanner to identify the ID number. Using a program called BC Wedge it will place the ID number into a field in a table of the database. I also want it to record the current time the ID number was scanned. I tried setting the default value of the 2nd field to Now(), however this does record the current time, but in a new record. This basically gives me a list of ID numbers from the barcode scanner and a list of recorded times, however all the times are one record out.
Is there anyway to get the recorded time to be placed in the same record as the ID number?
As far as I am aware the BC Wedge software needs to have the table in table view, although I may be wrong about this.
I have a form fmrClasses and what I'm trying to do is write a code that as soon as the user types a beginning time will update the end time to 3 hours later for example If user enters 9:00AM for beginning time the end time will be set to 12:00 pm.
I have the forms all set up and a control panel (switchboard) that opens after the user logs in.... (not web based)
What I am trying to achieve now is a time delay or set timer that will force all the forms etc to close and revert to my "Welcome Screen Form" where the Login button is located.
Essentially I wish to have it automatically log out after a certain time of inactivity... not close the workbook but redirect to the Login area.
Basically, if Calendar date > Date(), if Calendar Date not Saturday or Sunday, weekday(Calendar date<>1 and <>7), AND Calendar Date not in (Holidays table). Then repeat the last not = 0 value of MyValue. I thought of changing the default value but the value is already 0, while default is null + I need to set the default value under certain conditions.
I use Access 2013. Is there an easy way to do the following: I have a contract that starts on eg 01/07/2015. Tenant has to pay 100 each month. Is there a way to create a query/table/... where access automatically makes a due date? EG: Joe needs to pay me 100 each month, starting 01/01/2015 until 31/12/2018.
This means:
01/01/2015 - due 100 from Joe 01/02/2015 - due 100 from Joe ... 01/12/2018 - due 100 from Joe
