Query2 Tables To Create One List?!?
Dec 2, 2005
I have a db which enables users to enter expenses.
tblExpense
tblExpenseDet
tbleExpenseMileage
tblExpenseDet & tblExpenseMileage are joined to tblExpense
As the expenses are entered at User Level not Client Level, I need to extract the Client ID from the 2 sub tables to create a list grouped by client so we can report the billable expenses.
I'm thinking union query but wouldnt know where to start.
Any help would be appreciated

And then called this join as a symbol or variable, and then have it use to select the items from these joined tables, can this be done in Access? Here is an example of a code that I created, but it has an error message saying the FROM syntax is incorrect.
Code:
SELECT firstJOIN.trainID, firstJOIN.trainName, firstJOIN.stationID, firstJOIN.stationName, firstJOIN.distance_miles, firstJOIN.time_mins
FROM (trains INNER JOIN ((station INNER JOIN lineStation ON station.stationID = lineStation.stationID)
INNER JOIN bookingLeg ON bookingLeg.startID = station.stationID or bookingLeg.endID = station.stationID )
ON trains.trainID = bookingLeg.tid) as firstJOIN
Can Access do something similar to this, in the FROM statement I joined 4 tables, because each unique fields are in each table and I have to joined them to get those fields. I called this join firstJOIN and in the SELECT statement, I list those columns in the table by calling it firstJOIN.trainID. Can Access do something like this, but syntax it differently?

Hi All a newbie here so any help will be appreciated,
sorry for the long post but trying to give you all the information you might need.
I wrote a basic access database for my Church to aid in a paperwork audit for a charity food drop which we do monthly to give free food to the needy.
But each month it gets harder to find out who was in line first so I thought with all your help we may be able to randomize the names each month in a different order as to avoid confusion and also avoid people waiting in line as they turn up at 5am and we don't start until 9am.
So if this will work in access they can all come for 9am
I don't mind creating a new database and adding the additional information, if that's what it would take.
My Background I have created basic databases from scratch not using wizards, But I don't know much about code or how to implement it so any help in where code goes it would be very much appreciated.
Database details (Microsoft Access 2002 version)
Table Name = details
Field name = ID (auto-generated)
Field name = FirstName (text)
Field name = Surname (text)
If possible it would be nice to keep a record of the randomized lists (in the database somewhere ?) each month in case anyone wants to see it or disputes the lists, where I can just create a report to show the details.
There will be approximately 90 to 125 names.
Thank you in advance for all your help in this matter

Hi all,
Before I start, please know that I am what you call a newbie to a certain extent even though I created in the last 3 years a very complex and efficient database for my business.
This is going to be hard to explain, but I'll try.
The time came to stop creating the Price List in Excel and copy and paste in Access.(mainly to make it easy for other person to maintain and understand)
I know more or less the tables that will need to be created.
My problem is how to store calculated fields in a table (I know I really shouldn't, but how else can I accomplish this), since all the costs and selling prices are the result of complex formulas.
If this information is not enough to understand my question please let me know.
Thank you for any help.

I have the following tables:
tblOrderDetailsKeyItemIdOrder QtyPO#001A204001002B204001003C304001
tblTransactionsKeyTransDateItemIDReceivedPO#0011/1/2014A1040010021/2/2014B2040010031/3/2014A54001
I also have a table that list the items and on that table the column ItemID is the key.I want to create a query that will list all items ordered on a PO# and how many have been received so far. With that I will calculate the outstanding qty. I want to see:
qryOutstandingPOPO#Item IDOrder QtyReceivedOutstanding4001A201554001B202004001C30030
But all I see is this:
qryOutstandingPOPO#Item IDOrder QtyReceivedOutstanding4001A201554001B20200
It is missing item C because I have not received any yet so there are no records in the Transactions table for it to select.

Refer to the image below:
I want to make a form with the following criteria:-
Has one dropdown list. (like in the picture) Has one table. (like in the picture) When I select an item (for example: Syarikat A Sdn. Bhd.), the table below it (yellow circled), will automatically change data according to the corresponding selected list so that user can edit/add/delete the data in the table.
The issue: I already made the dropdown list and table, but how can I make the number 3 condition.

I am brand new to using access databases but I am in the midst of trying to set one up for controlled distributions of controlled documents.Essentially, I have three tables:
1) Listing of all our controlled documents and their properties (doc number, doc title, doc revision, doc type, doc status, effective date),
2) Listing of all our copyholders (name, location, phone number),
3) Document Distribution List which lists copy numbers, quantities, and medium to deliverable (paper, electronic, size, etc)
What I want to do is create relationships within the Document Distribution List (using 'add from existing fields') from the other two tables so when a request for a new controlled copy comes along, I don't have so much data redundancy.
For example, in Table 1, I have listed Document XYZ and copyholder Jane Doe from Table 2 wants to receive 1 copy of Document XYZ. I would like to have Table 3 have an added field from Table 1 where I can pull down the applicable document number, which when selected auto fills out it's corresponding details of title, revision, doct type, status and effective date in this Table 3. In addition, after I select the document Jane wants, I want to have another field added to Table 3 from Table 2 which lets me pull down Jane's name to assign her a copy number.

Greetings all!!!
I have a database containing a table of employees and their rank. I want to record monthly details regarding these people: hours, performance, etc. Their rank can change dynamically from month to month. They may be a Supervisor for a month, and I want to change this value on a monthly basis. But I want to generate a Table which shows all employees belonging to each of the eight departments, but which has empty fields enabling me to record these monthly values. I then want to be able to pull up that data at any time to see these values for any given month in the past. I also want to add the values of each field and total them for the various departments providing monthly and yearly values on a departmental and organizational (grand total) level.
The employee names and their respective departments rarely change. I don't want to have to select their names (about 125 of them) every month to create a new blank form in which to put the monthly data. I want to have perhaps a button which creates the records and puts the names in for (1) department, (2) year, and (3) month, but that adds the fixed fields ready to put the data in. This data is required every month and the field names will never change. I'm sure the solution is programmatically simple, but I seem to have a mental block over the issue.
I hope that someone casts some light on this.
Do I use a Create Table query? (The data can remain in one table.) I would like to do it programmatically. My VB is pretty good, but, it seems, not good enough.

I have a spread sheet which on a per line basis contains columns whose cells contain the path to a file. It looks as if many of the files are tif, pdf, word and excel etc, so multiple file types.
Writing a routine which would take each row and then for each line of file paths turn them into one multi-page document - pdf or something?

I have a sales report that I generate each week based on a query, which relies on the input from a combo box on a form. This works great - but I have select each salesperson, one at a time and run their reports separately.
I'd like to have some code that will run through each person on the list, generate their report, create the PDF, and email (or save) the file. From my initial research, it appears I will need to utilize a List Box (vs a combo box), so I can select multiple salespersons for the report.
I've found a few examples of code to use...but a little lost on how to implement. I create a new form with a list box that queries the property table for the list. I then added a button to execute the code, and attempted to add this (with my control and reports names substituted). Getting all sorts of errors -- so not sure I'm on the correct path.

I'm using Access 2007.
So far I have a Multi Select enabled list on which the user selects the serial numbers they want. They then click the "Report" button which will trigger a query based on the selected serial numbers to create a report on those serial numbers.
I have the code for the multi-select list working already. It creates a string of comma separated values that are the serial numbers which are selected in the list. Somehow I need to pass this string to my query so it can use it as a filter.
Here is some of my code:
Code:
Option Compare Database
Option Explicit
Private Sub Form_Current()
Dim oItem As Variant
Dim bFound As Boolean
[Code] ....
Here's my current query in SQL:
Then finally how to I get the query to execute and create a report based on all of this?

looking for a way to export the list of table names, table types & if they are linked (e.g. tbl Sales Linked .dbf or tbl Staff linked to excel) from a database - this has to be done for about 300 databases.
in an individual db, I have a make table query off of the table MSysObjects to get the data. The Database field tells me where the source of the linked table resides & the ForeignName field gives me an idea of the format of the data source (e.g. dbf or excel). I could manually import that query into each db, run it to get the table names, then copy & paste..

I've only just started using Access 2007 at my new job. I've been asked to create a database that will show appointments for all 10 of the employees. I have created a table for the main schedule (where ill put all the data) then one for each of the employees. I've managed to link the tables no problem but it wont let me create and updating relationship. It keeps saying "no unique index found for the referenced field of the primary table". How do I fix this?
I want it to automatically update the date, time, location, customer name and description, if its changed on the main schedule for a certain appointment on the corresponding employees schedule.

I am developing a database which will track some of my companies clients bonus trips. Basically everyone is going to the same place but folks are of different levels. Level A is a 14 day trip with X number of activities, Level B is a 10 day trip with Y number of activities and so on. The major things I'll have to track are all of their personal information as well as 'Air Travel', 'Hotel Stay', and 'Recreational Activities' information.
I can put all of this information in to one table (tblTraveler), or am I better off with creating tblTraveler holding only personal information and then linking to other tables such as tblAir, tblHotel, and so on? I'm not entirely new to Access, but no pro yet for sure. Only problem with creating one table is that it would have one whole lotta fields. Not sure if it's better developing technique to split everything up.
Also, the only thing I can come up with as a primary key is the people's last names. The client numbers are the same on many of them, so that's the only thing I can come up with. The PK really is only a factor if it's best to create multiple tables for the traveler. At first I thought it was best to split everything, but now I'm seeing less reason to take all of the travelers information and dump in seperate tables since most of the time on the master reports the trip planners want everything lumped together. Perhaps I'm better off just keeping the forms clean and seperate and just one table? The reports will do the rest for me. Any input greatly appreciated.

Hi All
I am trying to create a database for estimating manhours on projects. There is a setup table with two columns: "Project" and "Time Period". The database is supposed to allocate manhours to tasks on projects, which is used in estimating man hour costs and also forecasting labour resource requirements.
For example, say the database is used for "Project X" and "Project Y" projects, with Project X running from Jan to March and Project Y running from Aug to Dec. The setup table would look like this:
PROJECT TIME PERIOD
Project X Jan
Project X Feb
Project X March
Project Y Aug
Project Y Sept
Project Y Oct
Project Y Nov
Project Y Dec
From this table, I need to automatically create a new table for each unique project that allows man power to be allocated to each time period. Following on with the example, there are two unique projects, so two tables
need to be automatically created with column headings as per below:
Project X table:
FUNCTION PERSON JAN FEB MARCH
Project Y table:
FUNCTION PERSON AUG SEPT OCT NOV DEC
"Function" is a description of a role, for example engineer. "Person" is the individual undertaking that role, for example Bob Jane. Then in each time period a number between 0 and 1 would be entered corresponding to how much time (0 is no time, 1 is full time) that person would be spending on that function for that time period. Then the table would be populated with many functions and people in this manner.
So the number of tables automatically created depends on how many unique projects there are in the "Project" field of the setup table. The number of columns in these tables will be atleast two: "Function" and "Person",
plus another column for each time period defined for that project.
Perhaps something can be done with a make-table query, but all I can get that to do is copy data from one table straight into another table.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thankyou in advance.
Joey
