Querying Same Date Parameter From Multiple Tables

During a client's stay with our agency, they are served among multiple contracts and are placed within multiple programs. Because clients move frequently between contracts and between programs, we have separate tables which have start and end date fields. It is common for any client to have multiple listings in these two tables, but with different event dates.
I am struggling to create a query that will capture each client's most CURRENT contract AND program. In the future, I'll want to create a parameter query that will allow the end user to enter a range of dates and capture all of the contract and program movement during a period of time.
Any suggestions?

I am trying to put together a quick database for my HR team. I need to be able to pull multiple date ranges to show which employees are up for an annual, 6 month and 90 day review.
Is it even possible to put multiple date ranges in one query, or is this going to get complicated? I have no real database background, and know absolutely no SQL so I'm flyin by the seat of my pants here...

how to query data in my database based on a number of different criteria.I have reached a stage where I can get all the data I need from one query, however I can't figure out how to further query this data to return records from a table with the most recent date only. I have searched the forum, googled and experimented myself but I am running into "Aggregate Function" errors.In this scenario there are 3 tables. tblJobs, tblEquipment and tblInspectionLog. Each tblJobs record can have multiple tblEquipment records attached to it, and each tblEquipment record can have multiple tblInspectionLog records attached to them.
I would like to query the database for what tblEquipment records have been assigned to a tblJob ID and also return only the tblInspectionLog record with the latest Inspection_Date field.At the moment I am able to see tblEquipment records attached to tblJobs, however duplicate records appear due to multiple InspectionLog records associated with the equipment.
I have tried to filter records from tblInspectionLog using the "Max" criteria under Inspection_Date field in my query. This however returns an "Aggregate Function" error.

I'm really hopeful that somebody can help us out here. I'll explain as best I can.
I've got a table, where details of particular online environments are kept. Each online environment is assigned to up to four people. By this, it may be assigned to nobody, or it may be assigned to four seperate people, or anywhere in between.
What i'm trying to create is a query where the user of the database can type in a particular persons name, and it will return all the details of any record where that person is mentioned in ANY of the four colums, which can then be used to generate a report for that particular individual.
However, i'm really unsure of how to do this, and am aware that there is probably a really simple solution to my quandry, that will leave me kicking myself up the rear like theres no tomorrow.
Any advice as to how to proceed would be hugely appreciated, genuinely.

Just joined this forum and posting my very first thread.. ^^
I need to create query to pull data from two different tables. This should be really easy query for most of you. Once someone help me set it up, I can do the modifying.
If you look at the image, there are two tables. For each of pf_id (which is unique ID), I need to know the dept_name which is on other table. I know two tables can be linked with dept_id but I don't know how to create query. If you can help me , I would greatly appreciate it~

Hi,
I need to run a parameter query in which you enter a product number and the query (a) returns the list of components and (b) then automatically reruns the query for these components. In other words, I enter an input (a product number) the query gives me outputs (component numbers) and then reruns the query with each of these outputs as the input (i.e. I want to know what are the sub-components of these components). This process stops when all the components are raw materials -- this will be easily identifiable.
Does anyone know how to set-up this type of query?

I am trying to pass a date range parameter & an additional parameter (Type of Audit) to 6 subreports based off individual crosstab queries and housed on one Unbound Report ("rptFinal").I have an Unbound Form "frmDate" passing a date range and Type of Audit using [Start Date] and [End Date] to rptFinal with a button that simply opens the rptFinal as follows:
stDocName = "rptFinal"
DoCmd.OpenReport stDocName, acViewReport
In each Crosstab query, I have set the parameter criteria (in both the Parameter section & the query itself) to:
[Forms]![FrmDate]![Start Date] And [Forms]![FrmDate]![End Date]
and also,
[Forms]![FrmDate]![Enter Type of Audit]
On each subreports On Load Event, I have added:
Private Sub Report_Load()

I am new to this forum and a beginner to intermediate with Access.
I was given a database that has 3 tables with data on the capture of alligators. One from 1998-2000, one from 2001-2003 and one from 2003-present. Each of these tables has different field names because they were created by different people on different projects. I need to combine the three tables into one that pulls such data as "date", "time", "size" etc. I don't need all of the fields from all of the tables just select ones and some of the tables do not have the information that I'd need in the final table. I've read through append, update, and make-table queries and am not sure if I can even solve this problem with a query. The error messages I get refer to null values or if I do get a table it has 14000 records, which is way more than the actual number of records.

I have 5 queries that I am running. The first query has the date range parameters set in the field area that I need to run and each additional create table query is based off the results of the previous query.
1. Which is better to use to run all of the queries in one simple step? A macro or a form? I am exporting the final table to excel so that I can make some additional adjustments off of it.
2. How would I setup the date range parameters for the first query if I were to use a macro without going into the query itself and updating the date field? I tried setting up a macro to run the queries by using the OpenQuery action for each of the 5 queries, but I cannot figure out how to do the date range.

Hi,
I use a query to return values between two dates, here's the code I use:
Between [Select Start Date:] And [Select End Date:]
However because my dates are time stamped (they need to be!) the query omits anything on the end date, for example:
Between [01/09/2007] And [05/09/2007] will return values for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th but not the 5th - because (I think I'm right in thinking this but I might not be!) it only returns values upto midnight on the 4th? so 05/09/2007 13.42pm won't show up because it's after 11.59 on the 4th.
I can't ask people to enter in an extra day because quite alot of people who use our database won't remember and it'll cause alot of problems when they forget and get the wrong figures.
I've tried adding the following:
" & "11:59:59""
onto the code but Access says the expression is typed wrong or is too complicated to be evaluated.
Does anyone know how to fix this code please??

I have two tables, which have same fields. The tables are used for keeping record of news clippings, that are clipped in two different offices. I understand that the best way to manage the database will be combining them into the same table. Yet, it's not an option for the time for some technical reasons. Each table has the same fields as follow:
Input date
issue date
headline in English
news source
category
I want to have a list of news clips from the two tables by a specific category. I will have a form, that allows user to select category as the criteria to query the two tables. I manage to do that in a single table, but how to do it for two tables. This will be very help if you can help. ideally, I can use category to query news clips as well as academic journal clips (from another table) table.

I am using the QBE grid and am writing a select query to select only records with an empty Date Closed Field. The Date Closed field is a Date/Time Field. I am using Access 2003. When I use in the criteria IsNull([DateClosed]) I do not get any records selected which have an empty Date Closed field, have I a bug? and if so please could anyone point me in the right direction.

I am working on a query form, in which user can enter three parameters: date range (datefrom field, and dateto field), 1st selection of category (a drop-down menu, multi-selection enhanced), 2nd selection of category (a drop-down menu, multi-selection enhanced. By clicking command button, user can choose whether the result show in query table, or in a report. It didn't work... the error has something to do with the date criteria. If I remove the date criteria, i.e. just allowing selection of two categories, it works perfectly fine.
I've checked out many postings in this forum, but it doesn't take me far... below is the code, please please help....

I have not found the solution to this looking elsewhere, but basically what I am trying to do is the following:

I want a query which shows the count or records for which a person has a date within 30 days of each other. This is being queried from a large table in which records would may not be sequential by person. Thus in my example above, the third record for person 1 would be omitted as well as the record for person 3.

I'm using Access 2003 connecting through ODBC. I'm trying to set up an automated query to grab today's data. normally it's pretty easy, all you'd have to do is enter date() in the criteria in an access query. Unfortunately, the date in my database (i can't change this) is in an odd format.
example: april 1st, 2013 = 1130401
Every single date always has that preceding "1" in front of it, then the year, then the month, and finally the day.
I want to always specify the current date whenever the query is run (without having to type it in)

I have a db tracking vacation times for staff. One of the fields tracks a members vacation start and end dates. I need a way to pull a report to see who is on vacation based on Date() (today).
For example:
A record for John Doe has him start vacation 08/19/2014 and end vacation on 8/28/2014. If I wanted a report that shows who is on vacation today, 08/25/2014, using the date() function), how would I do this?

I have linked tables from an Oracle database.
I want to run a query to find records that have dates in a defined range.
The date field in my linked Oracle table is in the date/time format.
When I run my Access query, I only get those records that have a date (and no time) in the field.
How can I get all records, even those with a date/time entry?

I am trying to pull just a specific date that a Claim was sent to be processed. But the query has 40 tables that it needs to go through to get all possible dates. I know you will all say this is over kill on the tables, but each table represent a travel claim.
The problem I have is that I get to the 10th claim and it stops pulling the date. I put the following statement in the criteria:
[Type the beginning date MM/DD/YYYY]
any ideas?

All 3tables are joined by the ID#.
I need to create a sales report/query based on the results of the user input, which is a date range. I've got it working great with two of the tables, but not the third. Here's the code for the working one I have now. I had to add the Trans# to make sure it returned all the results. If I take it out it only shows a small percentage of the records. The Trans# is NOT the same on both the service tables.
This pulls the information from "Customer" and "Service" tables and returns

We have two facilities that receive four different types of shipments. I wanted to set up a database to track these shipments. Is there a way for me to set up tables such that the person entering the information can leverage the same date and location field for each entry type? For example, we may only receive two types of shipments today and four tomorrow. I want to avoid having the clerk enter the date and location two times today and four times tomorrow for each data entry.
Here's an example of what I mean above:
Date Location Type Qty
5/16 1 A 10
5/16 1 B 1
5/17 1 A 1,000
5/17 1 B 100
5/17 1 C 1
5/17 1 D 11
I'd like for the clerk to select from a fixed number of locations (1 and 2) and a fixed number of types (A, B, C, or D) and provide the date and quantity received.

Apreciate your help on this.
I have a stock control db and when goods are recieved they could have a different references on them e.g. our internal ref, the purchase order ref etc.
I would like to run a query that firsts ask what criteria i want to use to run the query e.g use the int ref or the PO nr. I can set up a simple parameter query in one field but can not find a solution for the db asking what field i want to use before you put in the reference?

I have created a query so that two fields have a range in them i.e.
One Field called "Price"
There are two text boxes on the seach form called "price1" and "price2"
The query reads
Between [price1] And [price2]
A second field called "Date Ordered"
There are two text boxes on the search form called "date1" and "date2"
Field called "Date Ordered"
Between [date1] And date2]
I have used the AND operator to join the first and second range. The user will fill in the criteria from a form with text boxes. This form is unbound but as soon as they click on the Search button, it will open up the query with the parameters in as above.
However, if the user were to type in a price but not a date the query shows no results. Results are only shown if a price and a date are inputted.
The OR operator will work but it is not what we need. We need to show results if a price is entered but not a date and vice versa. The fields are coming from one table.
Please can anyone advise? The database is a library management system so the price and date are the price of any books and the date that the book was ordered.

Hey all,
I think this is a simple fix but I am very rusty on access so I can't figure it out, even after a long haul on search engines!
Problem:
I have a single form in my db. This form has a series of drop down menus, check boxes etc etc allowing the user to select as much information they want to query against!
My end goal is to be able to submit this form, a report is opened and relevant records are shown depending on what options the user has selected.
I have attempted to use a query to acheive this, by simply using:
[Forms]![frm_stats]![cbo_location] Like [Forms]![frm_stats]![cbo_location] Is Null....which I was told would work, i.e. expecting the query to miss the form fields that were not selected....But no, the query only returns recrds based on my first combo box on my form and ignores the rest.
Wondering if anyone has any thoughts? - I don't really want to go down the route of using vba and checking each field in turn!!!!

Is there a way to have one parameter in a query effect multiple fields?I have a table that details service calls on our equipment. There are columns in that table for each part of the equipment that get marked, depending on what needed serviced (i.e. software, printer, keypad, monitor, etc). I would like to be able to run a query that will show all the service calls where one part of the equipment was serviced multiple times without have to enter multiple parameters or write a union query (there would need to be 11 unions or 11 parameters for each part to be captured). For example, I would want to know how many pieces of equipment had 3 or more service calls on their software. I want to run the query without having to say that I don't care how many service calls were performed on the printer, monitor, or keypad. I would like to be able to say "Software >3" and have the query run on that information.
