Quick Question: Is There A Way To Sort Forms Like Reports With Sub-groupings?
Jun 16, 2006
I have one table holding lots of different data. That data is all the same, but when it comes to output, it needs to be separated by groupings (which I have defined within the table itself as group 1, group 2, etc)
I was wondering. i would like to do the same thing with forms so that input will be separated easily / visually for the data input. At this point, all I can think of is order ascending /etc, but this doesn't give any visual queues to the user when he has moved to the "next" part.
I don't like the option of just another text box beside it spamming a textbox per record of whats next.
By the way, the form display is continuous, and thats why I want a "grouping" option.
Report has records of errors. There are 3 types of error. In the report footer, I would like a total count (this is working!) and a count by type (can't get this to work).
Error Total =Count[ErrorType] Compliance Total =Sum(IIf([ErrorType]="Compliance",1,0)) Audit Total =Sum(IIf([ErrorType]="Audit",1,0)) Quality Total =Sum(IIf([ErrorType]="Quality",1,0))
I have tried setting groupings on the report but this alters the detail sorting (currently sent by the date field newest to oldest) and provides the count within the detail.
Hello friends, I am having trouble displaying or updating data through all my subforms.
So im just trying to isolate the issue, I went into my table definition and changed fields named with seemingly reserved keywords as follows:
name = personName userId = personId
Now, i have hundreds of report and queries based on these tables (3+) with these fields. What do i need to do to automatically update my reports and queries without going into each one to manually update
Is that what the autocorrect option does? I have been advised to always have it turned off as it causes database corruption.
So how do i update my all things with these field name change. Any suggestions, comments would be greatly appreciated :)
I have a table that shows a range of numbers from 1 to 300 and with varying $ amounts for each. So, I would like to create a cross tab style report showing a group on numbers; ie 1-30 down the side, and the count of those numbers under 500. Then the next colume, under 1000, etc. Down the side would also continue with 31-60, etc...
Anyone know the best way to accomplish this in access??
I'm looking for suggestions on the best way to do this...
I want to track our total sales within a date range but by certain groupings of categories. This is for disc jockey bookings. We have a field named "Job_Type" and we would like to query our sales based on groupings...
Weddings (Wedding Reception, Wedding Ceremony, Post Reception, Coin Shower) Corporate (Holiday Party, Company Picnic, Company Party, Convention) School (Prom, Homecoming, School Dance, Graduation) Other (everything else)
I have already set up 4 separate queries, one for each grouping, with a union query, and it works but it returns 4 rows and doesn't specify which row pertains to which query.
Can anyone suggest an alternate/easier way to do this or a fix for the union query problem?
I have a report that lists the quantities used of each of the filters required for our vehicles. In other words, if we have 8 vehicles using Oil Filter #51036, then the report would read Filter #51036 = 8ea.The reports work OK now, but I am having trouble with one line, the brand. My goal is to have the report look like this:Oil Filters (Number) // Brand // Quantity..Here is the SQL that I am currently using for the Oil Filters query:
Code: SELECT Parts.PartType AS [Filter Type], Parts.PartDetails AS [Filter Part Number], Count(ServiceSpecs.OilFilterPartID) AS [Count Of Filters Used], Parts.PartBrand AS [Filter Brand] FROM ServiceSpecs INNER JOIN Parts ON ServiceSpecs.OilFilterPartID = Parts.PartID WHERE (((ServiceSpecs.OilFilterPartID) Is Not Null)) GROUP BY Parts.PartType, Parts.PartDetails, Parts.PartBrand;
The problem is that the query is "Grouping" by [Filter Type], [Filter Part Number], AND [Filter Brand]. That means that only one brand will show at a time.
Was wondering is there a way I could have a button that would give me direct access to a specific form. example. I have design a form for my Ranch and was wondering instead of me clicking on form than add cattle. Is there was a way i could have a button on my database that would when i first open it to automaticly take me to that form.
I am trying to create a report that shows how many sales each sales person has in a 2 year period and sort it from the most # of sales to lowest. I want to show all sales people not just top 5 or 10.
I am using Access 2007.I have a report that has 2 subreports within it.One of the sub reports input is from a table (Work Order Parts) whose records have a field called "DisplayOrder". This is a numeric field that I use to enable the user to specify the exact order that they want the records to be displayed in a form or report...well that's the plan anyway.
I can't seem to get the subreport to sort on the "DisplayOrder" field.
I have tried to set the Property value "Display Order" to "[Workorder Parts].DisplayOrder" but this doesn't seem to make a difference. The "Order By on Load" is set to "Yes".
Here is the "Record Source" value : SELECT DISTINCTROW [Workorder Parts].*, Parts.PartName, [Workorder Parts].Notes FROM Parts INNER JOIN [Workorder Parts] ON Parts.PartID = [Workorder Parts].PartID;
I was wondering is this was possible in access. I've read material on grouping and sorting, but haven't been able to pin down what I need.
I have a combobox field that has 14 entries, beginning with 01 as the first two characters. What I'd like to do is change the order in which everything is displayed on the report.
For instance, show 07 at the top, then 09-13 below that, and so on...
I'm having an odd problem with a form. We noticed this since migrating it from adp to accdb.
It's a form with two subforms in datasheet view, that contain data on a certain employee, which is selected on the main form.
If you use print preview before printing, it all prints out fine. However, if you use quick print, it does something weird. If you Pull up Employee A, then Employee B, and do a quick print, it will print the data for Employee A in subform 1, and the data for Employee B in subform 2. It displays correctly on the screen though, and the 2nd time you quick print, it comes out right.
I have a report that runs off a query that is sorted in descending order the price of something. This price column is in the middle of the report. Every time I try to add a function (sum or count of a column for example) in the report footer or header however, my report is then immediately resorted in ascending values of the first column.
I have an issue sorting the results on my Access 2010 Report. Here are the details:
- Report Record Source = "Portfolio Ranking" - Portfolio Ranking is the name of a query - The query includes a calculated field called "Impact Score" - FYI: this is a web database (not sure if that limits what I can do)
I want to sort the report on the Impact Score column. However, when I view the query calculation for Impact Score, the "Sort" field says "(not sorted)" and it's greyed out, so I can't select Descending as desired.
I have recently updated several forms from Access 2003 to 2010.
On the old version I could 'hold down' the forward or backward pointers to quickly scroll through the individual records. Now I have to click each individual record to move one at a time.
Have I inadvertently changed a setting or is the quick scroll option no longer available?
I must use XP/Access 2003 to solve this problem for reasons I won't get into.
I have a report with a Group by on City.
The users need to be able to sort by Coordinator within that OR by Client Name based on a selection they make on the form that opens the report.
-- I have tried to set .OrderBy
-- I have tried to set .RecordSource to different queries with order by hardcoded in them (I only have 2 sort options fortunately)
Is there a way to dynamically change the "Sorting and Grouping" defined in the report? This seems to be the only sorting that the report is responding to.
I have a class roster report in which the Employees' names are concatenated in a text box. When I select to sort the concatenated names alphabetically, it is sorting by the Unique ID, which is a letter and four numbers. The letter used to match the last name, but newer IDs are random. So most names are still in order, but some are not.
The Employee field Row Source is:
SELECT [Last_Name] & ", " & [First_Name] AS Employee, tbl_AM_Operators.User_ID FROM tbl_AM_Operators ORDER BY [Last_Name] & ", " & [First_Name];
What do I need to change to have the Employees' names alphabetized on the report?
I have created a form with an option group with 4 options (date, line, description and observation). Each of these options are to be a sort order for a report that will open after the user selects an option and clicks a button. I am trying to code the button using a select case so that case 1 opens the report sorted by date, case 2 by line, etc. how to write the code for the sorting.
So I have a report with the following text box controls:
[Surname] & ", " & [Firstname] =Sum([Quarter1_A]) - Named "Quarter_Total" =Sum([Quarter1_T]) - Named "Quarter_Target" =Val([Quarter_Total])/Val([Quarter_Target]) - Named "%Target" (Percent Format)
The report is grouped by the expression '[Surname] & ", " & [Firstname]'.I am trying to sort the records by the %Target text box. I tried entering the expression into the sort function but it still sorts by the grouped expression. I also tried sorting by the name of the text box but got the same results. How can I sort by the desired control?
I recently made a new version of our database complete with forms, querys etc.. using Access 2010. It looked good and nice, but we encountered an unexpected problem. In all forms that contains memo-type fields quick filter is not working (there is no lists, checkboxes etc..). My users really like quick filters and are understandably irritated. I would understand if this disappearance would affect only memo-type fields, but it affects ALL the fields.
I also know that there are problems with memos in Access 2010. I have tried to make new forms, but every time I add memo fields quick filter stops functioning. I have also tried to change properties, options and what not, but to no use. In older versions of our forms this feature works just fine, but they were made in older version of Access (don't know which since oldest ones are from year 2003). Television
I have a pretty simple form that includes subform. Subform's table is linked to main form's table with parent/child relation. Connecting fields are main table's ID field and corresponding field in child table. Subform is in datasheet view. This is pretty basic stuff so there should not be any problems, but every time I apply a quick filter in main form it causes data in subform become invisible. There is single row in subform, but all it's fields are empty.
A few months ago I created a report that displays the results of a long union query comprising a dozen or so individual queries, each containing an expression that yields a date (or sometimes date and time). I set the report to group by query and then sort by the date expression. Now for some reason that I can't fathom the report has always only ever offered me the option to sort the date "A to Z", I infer it thinks the date is text, but this misunderstanding has never actually stopped it sorting by date perfectly well. It worked. No problems.
However I have recently added formatting to some of the queries so that they just display date, not date and time e.g. Format([dateandtime],"dd/mm/yyyy"), and now the sort by date in the report no longer works. None of the sorting or grouping options have changed, but it now sorts just by the "dd" component of the date - so it thinks 21st June is later than 20th July. why?
This is related to "Old_value, new_value" thread I posted yestarday (Module&VBA).
I have a problem i missed yestarday. The code it's vorking great, but it allways takes the showed new_value and makes it old_value for the new record, and this is a problem, because the showed record is not the last for that customer. So, I was thinking that if I make a new Autonumber field in my table, I could sort descending the values and this way the input form will allways show me the last entered data for that person. As I noticed from a long time ago, if I sort a table that allready has a form, the form won't show the records sorted. Why? It's necessary to make the form again? I tried to order the data on the form from Properties window ->Data->Order by, but the ordering is Ascending and I need it Descending! Can enybody help me?
