I am trying to break out a field where city, state and zip codes have been consolidated. I want to create a field where I am able to ready the consolidated right either right or left until the first blank space. For example:
"pittsfield ma 01201"
I want to read the field to break out "pittsfield"
Thanks in advance for any help I can get on this :)
I have an Access 2000 form containing several subforms that needs printing on a regular basis, which works fine when the subform contains data, but sometimes the subforms contain null values. We want to print the subforms without the data to maintain consistency, but when printed they have disappeared and a blank space in the form is printed. The subforms view perfectly in print preview... any help would be appreciated, I have spent a good deal of time researching this issue without any leads
I have a continuous pop up form which, at the most, will contain about 10 records. The ten records take up less than half the screen space - but there is a bottom half to the form - even though there is nothing there. How can I get rid of the unused space on my form?
I have a report which contains 3 subreports. Now I require to do the following:
1. Hide the subreport if there is no data. 2. Remove the Blank space created when the data in subreport is null.
I tried to Set Can Grow and Can Shrink to Yes but still the blank space was not removed.
When I reduced the height of the subreports in the design view the blank space was reduced but it was still there.
What can be done so that the complete report auto adjusts itself if any sub-report is null? Something like the whole page auto fits itself in the available space?
The option of reducing the size of sub report in design view to minimum is there but it makes the report very un-handy for future reference.
I have a couple different reference files that get updated each week. Sometimes there are missing data elements, so I'd like to structure a select query to show me those records that have blank elements but I'd like the similar records to be pulled in as well, so I can make a determination as to how to populate the blank records..
See attached example: I have a client ID reference table that gets populated with forecast owner names (individuals responsible for the customer) from a couple of different sources. Sometimes there are names attached and sometimes the field is blank.
How can I structure a query to show me just those Client ID's that have multiple entries with blank AND non-blank forecast owners? I'd also like to exclude single/multiple records where there are only blank records...
OK, I have been searching around on the fourm for over an hour now...I give up. If this is some where else, I am sorry.
I have a database of maintenance data. There are several columns that are usually filled in, some records have some columns blank. They are formated text because they hold letters and numbers (see pic).
I am using a form to query the table...no problem. The form has text boxes the user filter down the data
The problem comes are with the results of the query. Any record that has a blank column is not retuned. I am using "Like" so that the user can enter in partial codes. I know "like" won't return "null" records.... Help!
Things I have tried: 1)IIF(form field is blank, return table field, else use like command to filter) - returns nothing! 2)Like "*" & [Forms]![Fleetwide_data_Request]![MAL_CD] & "*" returns all records without blanks (i.e. missing data)
I have a brand new database in-the-works that is causing me headaches. For some reason, if I create a query and then exit and re-enter the database, I cannot re-open that query. I get an Error 3112 (cannot be read; no read permission on <name>) and to contact the administrator or creater of the database.
I'M the creator and the administrator on this thing - so why can't I get into the darn thing? I haven't added any security features. This has never happened before on any database I've created, so obviously, it's frustrating.
I have been running the same database on numerous systems for 5 years and the user clicks on a button and using this code;
DoCmd.OpenForm "Employee", acNormal
Simple !, this always opened this form blank, without applying filters, ready to accept a new employees details.
But now this no longer works, for no apparent reason? What happens is that it opens with the form fields filled with the first person in the Databases details instead of being blank.
The only thing that could have changed is that i converted the database to 2003?
When entering information into a blank form, I would like to be able to continue entering information to another additional blank form after my last entry. Is there a way to continue to a blank form after entering information into the previous blank form? I would just like to continue without having to close the entire form and then reopening another form.
I have a query that pulls information from two different columns in a linked table, and places them together in a single column in a new table. The expression that i use in the query is: Expr1: [ARTINAME]+[ TITLE]. I need to put a space between the two. Is there a way to put a space in between these two when written to the new table?
Will like to check, i have a access database which can be open up by a few users.
How can i only allow the first user who open up the database to read and write the database and the follow users who open up the access have only read access?
Amongst many other things i would like to be able to see which teams in our company have access to which database. We currently use up to seven!!! different Databases which makes for tremendous fun...just kidding.
Since every Team has access to more than one Database andevery Database obviously gets used by a multitude of Teams, i thought the best way to go would be a Junction Table. Whilst building this, however, it occured to me that i could have just created fields for each Database in the Team Table which then can be ticked.
So here's my question, is it more space consuming to create a junction table, it certainly appears to be more work right now...
I have an enormous Post Code Table 1.7 million records, which I must update every month into usable sectors for our carrier cross refs, the UK postcode is in the format CB6 3HQ, CB6 3HR, CB6 3HS, CB6 3HT, CB6 3HW etc I need to be able to remove the space then only use the first 4 chrs ie CB63, in the above examples I know I could do a search and replace " " with "" but I need this to be run automaticly where would be the best place to do this and if coded how?
OS = XP pro SP2 200GB IDE HD with 134GB free (NTFS) 200GB USB2.0 with 54GB Free (NTFS) Virtual Memory = 1gb (Let Windows Manage)
Trying to copy files from a external USB drive to the Hard drive.
I have done this a million times and now it decides to foul up. When trying to copy files from the external drive to the hard drive that are 4GB or higher I get an error "Not Enough Disk Space"
Both Drives are NTFS with Plenty of free space. Also get the same error when creating files larger than 4GB. It worked before and no OS changes have been made that I know of.
In access, I have a field in a table that I need to fix. The field contains a charge(money) value, with a code attached to it. For example:
[2345.0020680]---> The (2345.00) is the charage amount & the (20680) is the code.
[17580.04PPO]----> (17580.04) is Charge; (PPO) is the code.
**Every charge amount is different, and every codes length is different; so there is no consistency in this field.
I need to add a space, comma, backslash, or something two places after the decimal, to split the two. Once I do that I'll export to excel, and split the field into 2.
I got a massive lump of WORD documents with Avery Mail label tables -- each avery mail label template/table has a mailing address. This how these people store their data.:confused::mad:
So I went through and over a couple days transfered all 458 records to an excel spreadsheet for easy importing to my access mailing database. Problem is that I forgot to clean up a couple of the fields and now I have all these values with unnecessary spaces as the first or last characters for a lot of values.
My question: Could anyone help me remove the first and/or last character of these values if the character is " "? Would it be easier to do this in excel and just re-import?
Hi! I have a field that has to be 20 Characters long. Most of the time data for this field is less than 20 characters, so the remaining has to be filled with spaces to make it 20. e.g. if there is a record xyz1234567, then the rest of the record should have 10 spaces like xyz1234567ssssssssss, meaning if i click on this record then the cursor should not blink after 7 but after the spaces. Hope I am making sense. Thanks for any input.
is it possible to combine text in a table when some have a space between them eg 123 456 789B would like it on the table as 123456789B without any space. I was not sure what command to use in a query to get this type of and use it for an update query if possible. Can someone help Many thanks
I have a field in a database that has people's full name (e.g. Jane B. Doe). I would like to sort by their last name. Can I build a query that looks at everything after the last space in their name? Thanks in advance.
