RecordSource Change For Reports?
Sep 26, 2005
I have a report that can be used for 3 different queries. I've been trying for the last hour or so to get three different buttons on a form to open this report but give it an appropriate record source.
I figured there's got to be a way that's easier than three queries, and three reports...?
I was trying to use the same format as with forms :
[Reports]![rptReportName].recordsource = "qryQueryName"
or variations of that. Am I way off? It keeps saying that I've misspelled the name or it doesn't exist.

I have a form with 5 tabs. Each tab has 2 subforms.
When the form loads I am trying to select it's recordsource by doing this:
Me!Subformname_A.RecordSource = "SELECT FieldA, FieldB FROM TableA WHERE"
However, it throws an error.
Is there something wrong with this ?

Hi,
I want to write Visual Basic language in the form with one button:
I have one form named "setForm" with one button and one text box:
Let's set the new table "frm2", the new form "frm2"
Dim sql As String
sql = "SELECT [model].* INTO frm2 FROM [model]"
CurrentDb.Execute sql
DoCmd.CopyObject CurrentDb.Name, "frm2", acForm, "frm1"
Forms!frm2.RecordSource = "frm2"
The last statement code doesn't work: It is said that Microsoft Access cannot find the form "frm2" referred to in a macro expression or visual basic code.
How can I change the recordsource? Thanks.

I have a form that is based on a query. I would like to change the form's RecordSource to another query using SetValue in a Macro.
Under Action Arguments I have
Item: Forms![Receiving Query subform].RecordSource
But I don't know what to put for an expression. I would like to use the same form but base the RecordSource on a query called "Receiving Search by Date".

Good afternoon
I have been helped out so many times in the past here I thought I would try my luck again.
Is it possible with the use of option buttons to change the row source of a listbox?
I want to use the listbox for a search criteria and thought it might be easier to have 1 listbox been updated from the choices made using a group of buttons.
I would like like the row source to be based on different tables maybe I might need to use queries.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

How do i make my subfrm record source switch to another saved query (qryPendingStatus) when it's opened from the form.
Heres what i am trying to accomplish:
I have a subfrm that i'd like to use to display info in 2 different forms.
There's a form currently for All statuses. Then another new one for Pending status. I'd like to use the same subform for this pending status form also, and in doing that my qryAllStatuses, but change to qryPendingStatus on the subfrm when i open the mainfrom.
This is on the open even ofthe mainform, but does not work (says method not founds...so obviouly i can't use ".Recordsource" here:
Private Sub Form_Open(Cancel As Integer)
Me.subfrmJobInfo.RecordSource = "qryPendingStatus"
End Sub
How can i make this happen?

Is it possible to conditionally change a font name? Report field is set for Wingdings 2 so I can print a check mark if underlying value is true. Wanting to change back to calibri to print "X" if not true. Haven't been able change it in an if statement. A macro setvalue fieldname.fontname to "calibri" throws type mismatch error. Setproperty choices don't include fontname.

I design/maintain an Access database for a friend's business using my home computer. The printer he uses allows for much smaller margins than mine does, so anytime I edit a specific report that uses very small margins, my computer automatically increases them to the minimum margins my printer allows and when the business owner runs the report on his computer it spills on to extra pages.
Right now every time I make a change, I need to go directly to his computer and adjust the margins within the report after the new front end is uploaded. Is there any way around this, such as telling Access to ignore the printer's minimum margins?

My workstation has a default printer that only prints A4, but I have an Access 2007 file with reports that require A3.
When I open these reports they see the A4 'default' printer.
If I try to change to the A3 printer in the report page setup (in design or print preview mode) it doesn't change - it keeps the default 'A4' and/or Access crashes.
If I change my workstation default printer to
The A3 printer and then open the Access file & report it works Ok (it picks up the A3 printer as default).
Can I use VBA to set the default printer and page setup to A3 when the report opens?

I have a table named z_ResltsSampleCountMonthly. In that table I have fields SampleSize, Month and LOB.
I have a report that I need to use a Dlookup in order to pull the SampleSize by LOB into my report. However, my report has three columns that change based on the start and end dates for the report. It shows current month plus the two prior months to show a trend.
So I have each column heading update automatically based on the dates the user enters into the start and end date on the main menu form.
If they select 12/1/14 to 12/31/14 the three columns heading would update to October 2014, November 2014, and December 2014. In the table I have the data for all three months so when I use this formula it works but it's putting September 2014 data under October 2014 so I need to have multiple criteria; one being the LOB and the other being the column heading which is equal to the field Month in the table.
Code:
=DLookUp("[SampleSize]","z_ResultsSampleCountMonthly","[LOB] = ""CMES""")
This is what I tried to do to add the second criteria to pull based on text59 being equal to the Month field in the table but it's not working:
Code:
=DLookUp("[SampleSize]","z_ResultsSampleCountMonthly","[LOB] ="CMES" And [Month] = ' " & [Text59] & " ' ")

Objective to have a report generated from a query (Based on a Storage Table) in the record-source however need to make adjustments to each record based on the query output ie User Id is outputted as number as it needs to be for everything else but on the report loading needs to run an sql query on that ID number to get the name and then replace that value with the name and so on for each record and each appropriate column
Problem:I can either change All of the records outputted with the first records info or nothing at all. i need this process to occur individually on each outputted record

How can I change report Sorting and Grouping through code? I tried:
Dim rpt As Report
Dim strReportName As String
strReportName = "ReportName"
[Code].....
But this did not work. I assume because it is on the Open command for the report. I think I might have to place some Event Procedure in the Group Header - On Format or On Print? However, I can not find the right syntax to do that.

I have a report that constists of 4 subreports.I need the first two subreports to render in a two-column format and the 3. and 4. in a single column format.Unfortunatelly I cannot it work as I need to.I have read, that setting the main report in a single-column format and the subreports in a two-column format with "first across then down" setting (Or something like that) is and option.
Unfortunately this option does not fit my requirements. Is there a possibility to set the number of columns through VBA and change it across the different parts of the report?

I've got a report that spits out a barcoded label for items on my inventory. What I'd like to know, is if there is a way in 2010 to allow the user to select where on the page for the label to print.
I found a way that looks like it worked for 2007, but it required enabling ADO, which I am not able to do on my work computer.

I have a column graph I created for a report.
The Y axis has number of days.
The X axis has Member ID.
When I make the column graph the data seems to not be in any order. The report is in order by the number of days in ascending order.
How can I have the columns with the largest number show up first and the columns get smaller. I would like the largest column all the way to the left, proceeding the next one in size so it goes from largest to smallest.
