Jan 24, 2007I have a continuous subform which has a DLookup to pull a calculation from a query, what's the best way to get the field to refresh every time a record is updated (via a pop up window).

I've currently got a Combo Box (in the form of a drop down list) in the main part of my form for data entry. I have recently created a seperate form called 'edit' to change current values that may be incorrect. As a part of this, I would like to make changes to the values displayed in the Combo Box (let's say there is a typo). So I have copied the combo box from the viewing page into my editing section, and made the change I want to the appropriate entry. I then go back to my viewing page, and the data hasn't automatically updated. (However, If I look at the drop down list now, the new spelling of the entry is there, the old one is gone, and I can select the new one; making the change complete. Is there a way that I can get it to automatically update all the fields that currently have the old spelling to the new spelling? (all I see on after update for the combo box is a list of my macros?)

Refresh Form Data
Aug 22, 2007I just realized why I wanted to stop using Access long ago...anyway here's my problem.
I have two tables: table1 and table2 (I know,creative). Anyway, table1 is linked from another database, table2 is local to the open database. I use table2 as a temporary table to hold data from table1. table1 is then set as the datasource of one of my forms.
I have a button which is used to refresh the data. Basically, it deletes everything in the temp table (table2) and inserts data from the linked table (table1). When I do this, the rows in my form then all contain #Deleted, but it never refreshes with the new data after I have inserted it.
I've tried using the Refresh, Requery and even Repaint methods. Still no luck. Then, I clicked Remove Filter from the toolbar and the new data appeared, but I don't have any filters in place. So then I tried to do this programmatically by setting the subform (I'm using subforms ) Filter = "", its FilterOn to False and its OrderBy = "".
Any suggestions?

Forms :: Order Of Data Refresh?
Apr 9, 2013I have a graph on my form, an Update/Refresh button, and a textbox that display a calculted value.
The textboxes controlsource is "=GetMyValue()"
Now when I click the Update button on the form, I would like to have the graph to refresh first, and then the textbox should update its value by running the GetMyValue function. But it works the other way around.
I've even tried to reset and set the textbox controlsource in the click event but it still get's preference above the refresh of the graph.

Oct 27, 2013I have a number of charts that correspond to form fields. Once the fields are filled out and the form is saved I want the data automatically to update in the chart. I tried inserting a button to allow the user to manually do it, but it says that it is unavailable. The charts update when i click refresh, however I dont want the user to have to do this.

Form 1 - Data entry for a new project
Form 2 - Data entry for a task associated with the project in the Form 1
Button on form 1 that opens Form 2.
What I am trying to do:
Use a combobox on Form Two to choose the Project entered into Form 1, so I can capture the Form1 PK as a FK on Form 2.
Here is the problem:
Refreshing the record on the button click so that the new option entered into Form 1 shows up in the combo box on Form 2.
Full disclosure:
I'm not much good at VBA so I have been trying to do this by customizing the button macro. I have tried Refresh, and Requery, but I can't seem to get it to update the list in the combo box.
2 questions:
1. How can I get this accomplished?
2. Is there a better way to get this data into the table than what I am trying to do?

If I want to open three forms via the macro, do I need three refresh actions, one after each openform action, or simply a single refresh action that would apply to all three forms.

5000BaseReq, 6000BaseReq, 6000IFBBReq, EquipmentReq which get some of their information by counting fields in another table but all have the same field names.
The queries contain all data that is initially used to append new records to the table and this works fine.Unless some information changes or a record is added then I would like to add a button to a form and call it "update equipment" behind which would run a vba code firstly to delete all the records in "EquipmentRequired" table then run the 4 queries without the warnings and re-populate the table.

Actually the program flow is like i have a table of 25 fields, ID as PK and item name, item code and remaining is the date as field name,
Below mentioned is the Table headings,

I am building a forecasting database that will have known amounts entered for various projects. If a project has no known future amount (lets say for next March), I want my query to calculate a projected number by taking the most recent equivilent month (for this last March,which may be a number or even zero) and applying a growth factor.
I thought to use Dlookup in this way, but it is not working:
Amt: IIf(IsNull([Amount]),DLookUp([amount],"data_table",DateAdd("yyyy",-1,[data_table]![date])=[data_table]![date])*[growth],[amount])
I have created "placeholders" for the non-existant months in a prior query (i.e. this formula should replace null cells w/ projected values only if there is no actual value)

In the table the ID field is an automatic number and the Member Number is a short text field.

May 16, 2014My intentions are to get my combo box to display data into a field in my form, when it is changed/selection is made. So far my form has the following:
Combobox: CBOCharacters
Field: CharacterGender
Both of these are in the same table; tbl_Characters. The data type for CBOCharacters is a number and its called CharacterID in the table.
So far I have created this piece of code:

When I run this event procedure i get an error:

General :: Data Entry Form - DLookup And Storing To Table
May 8, 2015I have a simple data entry form based on a table. However I have a few fields that I do a lookup in a field on the form from a query, and yes I know I should not have a lookup in the control source however, this is the way that I will be doing it on this occasion.
=DLookUp("[Salary]","[Salary Query]")
How I get the value from this unbound field to enter into the actual field in the table. Do I bring the actual field into the form and hide, and do some sort of after update, as I have tried and it does not work.
I have called the unbound field with lookup "Salary Level Base" and the actual field in the table is "Salary Base".
"Save Record" Button In A Subform To Also Refresh The Data In The Main Form
Mar 26, 2005I have a form which contains one subform. On the subform I have a command button which saves the record just entered. On the main form I have a "refresh form data" button which updates the main form so that the calculated controls can show the correct results based on the data just entered?
Can anyone tell me how I can get the "save record" button in the subform to subsequently refresh the data in the main form as well, thus saving a button???

Update / Refresh A Form Upon Entering Data In A Popup Box / Form
May 24, 2005I apologize if this has probably been asked countless times; however, in my search of this forum I could not find something that seemed to work for something so simple.

Scenerio:
I have 2 forms. The first form is my main form and the second form is my "popup" form. Both of these forms access the same table. In my main form I have it so people can not enter in a ID so it reduces accidental data entry. Therefore, I created a "popup" box that allows ID entry.
Everything works great except when I close out of the popup form, the newly entered data is not available unless I close the main form and reopen.
Million Dollar Question:
How do I refresh or requery (dunno the correct term usage here) the main form to reflect the addition I made in my popup form. I would like the refresh event to happen when I click the close button on my popup form.

Data Access Page Filter Refresh The Page

I have a data access page needs a filter by a dropdownlist, the dropdownlist used is a html control and I use javascript to filter the data programmaticlly in the onchanged event of the control.
MSODSC.DataPages(0).Recordset.Filter="AppID = 3";
My problem is, when this statement runs, the page refreshes. But I don't need the page refreshes, it set the dropdownlist text to the default text, not the value user select. The browser is IE7.
How can I stop the page refresh itself?

Forms :: DLookup - Using Two Fields (number And Drop Down Text) To Query Table For Data
May 29, 2015DLookup function. (this is for a stamp collection database).
On my form ("InventoryInput") I have a text box called "Catalog" for a numeric entry and a text combo box for selecting a "Country" in drop down list.
I want to query a table called "CatNameList" to get the "StampName" of the item (based on the entries of Catalog and Country) and populate that name in the text box. The fields in this table are called "StampName", "CatNumb" & "CName" respectively.
I have successfully placed the following expression in the control source of that textbox and able to populate the StampName I need based solely on the catalog number alone.
That express is :
=DLookUp("StampName", "CatNameList", "CatNumb = Form![Catalog]")
So it will populate the "StampName" data to match the "Catalog" number entry just fine.
However, I need to add a second layer to incorporate the Country.
Example : There is a catalog "1" for "USA", and a catalog "1" for "Canada" but both have different "StampName".
I have been attempting to get that second piece added with no success. Here is the expression I have been trying to get to work :
=DLookUp("StampName", "CatNameList", "[CatNumb] = " & [Catalog] & " And CName = '" & [Country] & "'")
Right now, the text box is just blank with the above expression. I thought it may be because there was no match found, but I have triple checked to ensure I have the spelling correct on the country name in both places.
Basically, I just need the dlookup to take the "catalog" and "country" off the form and match it to the "CatNameList" table fields of "CatNumb" and "CName" to give me "StampName" field back on the form.

May 29, 2015Having problems getting dlookup to work in the control source field of a text box.
My form has fields : Catalog # (numeric value) and Country (drop down text selection).
I would like to query a table CatNameList for a name (text) if the catalog # and country find a match on the table.
My field names on the CatNameList table are : Name, Number (to validate against the Catalog # entered on the form) and CName (to validate against the Country drop down on the form).
I am successfully able to populate the name from the CatNameList table on my form using lookup of the catalog # using this :
=DLookUp("Name","CatNameList","Number = Form![Catalog #]")
However, I will eventually have several catalog numbers that will be identical in the table CatNameList, thus why the country is important as the second criteria to be added into the dlookup.
I have tried for a few hours unsuccessfully to add the second portion to my dlookup.
This is what I have currently (not working) that I have been playing with, I'm sure I'm missing a quote mark, & or something simple.
=DLookUp("Name", "CatNameList", "Number = Form![Catalog #] And CName = ‘”& Form![Country] & ”’”)

Is there a way to have the database auto refresh ?? If so how is that done
I use the service management template in Access. The problem we have is there a way to write a script to check for existing names when entering new ones. Like after entering all the information in a new record have it look at the first and last name and if it does exists have a alert come up stating that it already is there

Refresh One Sub From Another
Apr 30, 2005Hopefully this is an easy one...... Have a form... With two subforms. Info is entered into first subform... Second subform shows a recap of info entered. Kind of a running total of an "Average" based on info input on the first subform.
OK... Problem is... The second subform updates... requeries the info on close. I want it to update the info every time a new line or record is entered into the first subform. I have tried a couple of ".requiry"s on the first subform... but no luck. I'm not that hot with VBA yet.... And can't seem to get anything else to work. Solution????
