Regularly Import / Export Different Records To Multiple Excel Worksheets
Mar 16, 2014
I'm building a data base for my company, which is composed of items we sell. I then need these records to populate our pricebooks, which are excel worksheets, under multiple workbooks.
So essentially, I would like to have all the fields separated by vendor, series and series items, then populate the proper Excel worksheet (within a supplier's workbook). I have the know how to build a query to narrow down a particular vendor/series/groupofitems, but I don't want to be creating an enormous list of queries which have to be run each time.
I also have the know how to create a joined table which pulls the item list into the proper group, creating one large table with every vendor, series, and items. But what I'm looking for is some type of hybrid, which will allow me to export all of the items to their corresponding worksheets in one fell swoop. This will be done regularly as prices from suppliers change, certain colors are discontinued, sizes added, etc.
I'm guessing when I use the query which creates the large table with all the product that it's indexed, and that I would be able to use this to then import the data into excel/export the data to excel. But I'm not sure about this.

What I want to do instead is open an existing .XLSM wokrbook delete or update the 7 sheets it creates and replace them with the new query results from access.
I love this code below because it works really well but now I have a new requirement. I have a workbook that has a "dashboard" sheet that looks at the sheets from acccess and summerizes the data. So, I'd like Access to open that "template" excel workbook and delete the old sheets and put in the new ones..The required sheets to keep are called "Metrics", "Validation" and "Mara"
What I was trying to do for the past few hours was another work around which was to have Access run this code, then excel run some code to import the "dashboard" formulas but I can't get it to copy to another workbook because it links to the OLD workbook..Here is the working code that needs modding:
Code:
Option Compare Database
Public Function ExportAdvanced()
Dim strWorksheet As String
Dim strWorkSheetPath As String
Dim appExcel As Excel.Application
Dim sht As Excel.Worksheet
Dim wkb As Excel.Workbook
Dim Rng As Excel.Range
Dim strTable As String
Dim strRange As String
Dim strSaveName As String
Dim strPrompt As String
Dim strTitle As String
Dim strDefault As String
[code]...

I have a code that allows the user to select the file that they want to import, however it automatically imports the first worksheet into a specific table. Is it possible to change the code to make it import the first worksheet (or with a specific name) into one table and another worksheet into another table?
Code:
Dim dlg As FileDialog
Set dlg = Application.FileDialog(msoFileDialogFilePicker)
With dlg
.Title = "Select the Excel file to import"
.AllowMultiSelect = False
.Filters.Clear

Work have asked for a lot of information to be run from Access and exported into Excel. The info they require will need to be exported into 4 Excel worksheets in the same workbook. Is it possible to tell Access that when they click on the report button on the form, it will automatically run the various queries and then put them into separate worksheets in the same book? I think this is perhaps too complex for Access to do?

hi,
I'm having a small but annoying problem exporting data to excel and then importing it back..
The problem is that when i export a table to Excel - it changes the date format from dd/mm/yy (which is what i have in Access) to DD-MMM-YY (automatically in Excel)
This proves to be a problem because when i import the spreadsheet back Access gives me a data type conversion error.
Its easily solved manually by changing the field in excel to dd/mm/yy format but annoying as the user will have to do this everytime they export and import!
Any suggestions??
Thanks in Advance..

I have a few problems and I want them to be able to be done from switchboard:
1. Is there a way for me to export a particular report (after selecting it) to a closed excel template, that is formatted? It would open the excel template (that has a logo and column headings), export data to below the column headings, then save the file with a unique name?
2. Also, a way to import data from an excel file, after allowing the user to select file? Only data below the column headings mentioned above. Same data will be appended to existing table.

I am using Access 2010 and Excel 2010. I need to have VB script to export the access table 502 records by 38 fields into Multiple Excel workbooks each having multiple tabs. In the Access table each record has two fields: Div and Tab that will be used to name each workbook and each tab (sheet). There are 6 unique "Div"'s to name the 6 workbooks and there are several "Tab" names for each Div (workbook).
Note: These 6 workbooks with multiple tabs were originally imported into Access from one common folder on my desktop by this routine:
Option Compare Database
Option Explicit
Private Sub Command1_Click()
Dim blnHasFieldNames As Boolean, blnEXCEL As Boolean, blnReadOnly As Boolean
Dim lngCount As Long

Excel workbooks would take names from the "Div" field and the tab names would come from the "Tab" field in the Access table. First need to find workbook name (Div - Field) then the look for each sheet name (Tab - Field) to create 1st Excel workbook with all the sheets (Tab) and repeat the process. I think you need to approach of read the Access table one record at a time keying on the "Div" and "Tab" fields in creating each Excel workbook with the associated multiple tabs (sheets) that are written to a common folder.

I would like to know which way is the best way to import excel data from multiple sheets in to multiple tables in access.
For example data from Sheet1 -> Table1, Sheet2->Table2, Sheet3->Table3 etc...
I have tried using this:
Cmd.TransferSpreadsheet acImport, acSpreadsheetTypeExcel5, "Table1", "C:Importedfile.xlsx", True, "Sheet1!"
Ironically, data from Sheet2 and Sheet3 seem to be properly imported in to table2 and table3, but some of the data from Sheet1 seems to be missing in Table1 after import.
Any other ways to import the data?

I'm exporting some data from an Access Database into an Excel Spreadsheet to create a report in Excel, and I'm running into some problems with that.
The idea is I have an Excel Template with a tab to take raw data from an Access Query, and then a couple tabs that manipulate that data and a final tab to format it for reporting. Basically, the formatted tab uses lookups to find data that's been exported from the query and display them in appropriate columns and rows (producing a result sort of like a cross-tab query but where I've got better control over the presentation of the results). My end-goal is to have this data formatted, to replace all the lookups with hard-coded values data, and then to remove the raw data tab and other tabs with lookup data to have a clean report ready for printing.
It's that last step - deleting all the extraneous tabs that are no longer feeding any equations because I've copy/pasted values over the lookup equations - that's proving vexing. Everything through this point is in the same On_Click event code:
Code:
Private Sub Command0_Click()
'Note: I'm using early binding right now to take advantage of Intellisense;
'My plan is to go back and replace this with late binding once I have code that works.
Dim objXLApp as Excel.Application
Dim objXLbook as Excel.Workbook
Dim objXLWS as Excel.Worksheet
Dim strPath as String
[code]....
I don't get any error messages. I actually have a messagebox thrown up in the code to inform me that I'm getting to the right worksheets selected. (The loop is selecting the worksheets as expected. But when I open the file in Excel... all of the worksheets are all still there, including the ones that should've been deleted. Is there something I should be doing to make sure the worksheet deletion goes through?

I have a main form with two subforms. I'm trying to get my code so that it allows me to put 1 subform on one tab and the other spreadsheet on the other tab.Heres my code:
Code:
Option Compare Database
Public Function Send2Excel(frm As Form, Optional strSheetName As String)
' frm is the name of the form you want to send to Excel
' strSheetName is the name of the sheet you want to name it to
[code]...
It won't let me pass more than one subform when I call Send2Excel, so I have to list it twice, which opens two excel files.

Is there a way to run the report and export it directly to Excel (I don't need the report in Access) for all companies where each company will be in one spreadsheet? So, 10 companies, there will be 10 sheets in the Excel file.
Is it possible?

I've been trying to load data from multiple excel worksheets in multiple workbooks into one table in Access. The first one loads fine, but after that I get errors and can't load anything else. All of the sheets are in the same format, so that shouldn't be the problem. Every solution I've tried has been a bust. All I want is to take all of my data and put it into one big database. Any suggestions?

Hello,
Not sure I posted to the correct forum, but here goes
I would like to import an excel sheet into a new access table. However I am having problems
with multiple fields.
Lets say for instance that in my excel sheet I have the following fields
Field nameName ExamExam_scoreDate
PurgeMaths607-01-2007
--------------------------
Then I import that into a table. Then that is no problem, but then going back to the excel sheet I have noticed that one study could take many different exams. Hence the below
NameExamExam_scoreDate
PurgeEnglish707-01-2007
------------------------
we have a problem in the table because the fields begin to multiply if Purge has taken 20 exams
fieldname
name
exam
exam_score
date
exam2
exam_score2
exam3
exam_score3
exam4
and so on....can you imagine if I hit 40?
I was thinking maybe I could add some lookup field to a cell in excel or access? Am I on the correct path? Since I want to import, but the multiple fields/columns are getting in the way.

I have 100 or so 2-sheet excel workbooks. I need to import them all into an access table for analysis. They are all exactly the same format/layout etc but obviously have different data in them (they are customer satisfaction surveys). I only want to export 1 out of the 2 sheets on each workbook (the other is a front end, the data sits behind in sheet 2).
So, at the moment I have to go to 'get external data' > 'import' > select excel and then double click each file individually and then go through the import wizard. Now, I can get them all into one table but it's clearly time consuming.
Is there anyway of doing a batch import of multiple excel files to cut out the manual work described above? Or can anyone suggest a lateral get around?
Any help much appreciated. I should say that I am running excel 2003 and access XP (2002)
Matt

I have been trying to write a macro that will do the following:
- Look to a specific folder in my home drive (nb this may change)
- select all of the excel files that are in that folder
- select various cells in each of those spreadsheets - each spreadsheet is formatted the same with the same structure. The cells are random, e.g. D6, I22, H4, K4, D17, so I cannot select a whole range
- copy these cells and paste them into one row of a database

I have information held in 3 different tables and I would like to extract this information to three different tabs in a singe Excel workbook - preferably in one step.
My access knowledge is fairly basic but I have been looking online and I can only find out how to do it using a VBA script - which is quite terrifying! Is there a simple way to do this?

I am using Access and Excel 2007. This Db is for a mental health practice to track and store the paper questionnaires that the patients fill out. The data then needs to be exported to Excel so that it can be imported into a proprietary software that analyzes the data and recommends treatment plans. (It does NOT play nice with Access, forget it.) There are many forms and all of them are fine and export to separate worksheets no problems.
Now for the problem child: One form has 493 fields. Obviously I could fit that into two tables, but it seemed cleaner to use a main form and main table with the patient information (ID_Number, Name, Date, etc.), then tabbed subforms and separate tables for each “section” of the questionnaire (School, Work, Home, etc. There are 11 tables/forms in all.) These tables are all related by the ID_Number. The problem is the export. I need all 493 fields to write to one worksheet in order. This would of course involve removing the ID_Number field from all the tables except the main one. A query obviously can’t handle that many fields. VBA I can TransferSpreadsheet but then each table goes to a separate worksheet.
I’m thinking maybe calling some SQL code that will drop the unneeded fields and keep appending the data to the worksheet one table at a time? Of course the rows would somehow need to be defined WHERE ID_Number = ID_Number so that the same patients information is all on one row.

As an example the list looks like this in Access:
450a
650b
320c
4100d
and exports into individual cells. I need it to export into one cell and look like this:
450a, 650b, 320c, 4100d

I have a basic access query (MACs Report Template) that I need to export into multiple excel files based on the 1st field (Plan ID).
Example:
PLAN ID
Number
Amount
Status
AM141
12345
100
Disconnected
AM141
54321
5000
Active
AM142
11122
2000
Disconnected
AM155
22334
500
Disconnected
I need this to create a spreadsheet for each unique PLAN ID. Ideally i want it to export the following:
MACs Report AM141 20150521.xls (both records above should be in this report)
MACs Report AM142 20150521.xls
MACs Report AM155 20150521.xls

I have an Excel workbook with multiple sheets, all the sheets have the same headers and are formatted the same.
Problem 1 is I need some sort of loop so that all sheets will be imported, the names will vary so I can't use specific names to import.
Problem 2 is that I need to create a new TempTable based on the format of these sheets and have them all import to that one table.
I need to do some cleaning up and updating of the data before I run append queries to have it moved to a couple of permanent tables.
I know I've written the VBA to have a new table created on import and later deleted after all my queries run.
