Report - Page Break On A Specific Code

Reports :: Forced Page Break(s) In Access 2007 Report
Sep 30, 2013I am writing a book, using MS Access 2007 (seemed like a good idea at the time I started, and the report that creates the formatted book content works quite well).
The book content is "per paragraph" which gives me total flexibility to move content to whatever spot in the book I might wish, simply by changing the paragraph number (free field, not auto-number primary).
To save paper (or pages) in printing (or viewing) the book, I have the report printing off para by para (as many whole paras as will fit to a page). This is fine but I want each new chapter to start at a forced new page, for "presentation"/appearance sake.
The relevant fields for the purposes of this post are:
paranumber
paratext
chapternumber
forcepageifticked (a Yes/No box), which goes with each paragraph and which I thought might come in handy, I had in mind to link it to a page break control at the top of the "detail" part of the report in design view, and which would be "invisible" except if the report formatting process had got to the start of any chapter, and the Yes/no box was ticked.
Double Sided Page Break
Apr 25, 2005Hey, I tried searching for this one, but I'm not really sure what to search for.
I am running a report that is double sided. However, I do not want the start of the next group, on the same physical page. I also do not want a starting blank page (as I thought about inserting a blank page after the section).
Any way to do this?
Maybe I have to write a function or something? Depending on if the page is an even or odd number? I honestly have no idea.

I have been given someone elses mess to clean up. It is a massive procedure which runs dozens of queries, then formats the results and pastes them into a word file at given bookmarks
For most tables there is one record for each lake. However there are several where many entries per lake. The logic being applied is that the font colour for the column is made white, then for each first instance of a lake name the font colour for that cell is made black again.
The problem is there are many times were the first row of data on a new page is not the first record for a particular lake making the reader have to flip back to the previous page to double check which lake they are looking at data for.
So what I want to do is leave the existing logic, and just add turning additional cell's (Column 1, after a page break) font colour back to black.

Feb 18, 2015I have been working on this for over a week in Access 2010 and I know that I am almost there, but need getting over this last hurdle as I have a severe case of tunnel vision on this while I am trying to get it to work.
I have a Main Report based on my Element table and a subreport based on my OTC table. There is a one-to-many relationship between the Element and the OTC table.My Master / Child Fields between the two reports are as follows: ElementID;GroupNum
My SQL for the Main report is:

As an example in testing this report, I am looking at a specific Element with 33 records and a total of 72 OTC records. Each of the 33 records can have 1 or 2 or 3 or up to 4 OTC records but the report is only 17 pages which tells me that the page break is occuring based on the ElementID and not on the OTC records....
Reports :: Forcing Page Break At The Bottom Of Group
Oct 2, 2014I have a report which is grouped by employee number - each group can have one or many records displayed - it works fine, but can look untidy sometimes when there are more records than will fit without wrapping onto another page; this is particularly prevalent when there are two or three groups - the third one may run over onto the next page, without group headers.
Is there anyway to force a page break at the bottom of a group if that group is not going to fit on the current page in its entirety?

The problem I'm having is that the files that are at the end of the hyperlink can have various extensions (*.doc, *.docx, *.pdf, etc.) I'd like to be able to put a wildcard in the code to allow the opening of the file regardless of the extension.

Oct 16, 2013Does your Tools Reference have an MS Office 15.0 Object Library?
Just had to share this strange occurrence in the VB Code Module:
I use breakpoints all the time, was just using them yesterday.
Noticed that some events seemed to act differently this morning. The front-end was approaching 88 MB (after compress) so it is time for a change anyway.
Created a new blank Access dB (Access 2010) and imported all objects from my last backup revision. Reset the home page and tools References. Matched the settings side by side. As usual, the database shrank from 88 MB to 60 MB. The import all objects will usually compress things about this much.
From the screen shot, put breakpoints in previous code, added a new Lost-focus event and added a message box. None of the breakpoints work. The message box fires on the lost_focus and all of the code in the Click event works fine. But, not a single break point would work.
Totally powered down and restarted the Windows 7 32 bit Enterprise workstation. Still no change.
Took the screen shot of Tool-References from the code module of a two week old archive version. Used it to evaluate my new imported object database.To my surprise, the Microsoft Office 14.0 Object library is now Microsoft Office 15.0 Object Library.Also put all the objects back in the same order. Saved and closed the new imported object database.Now, the breakpoints work just fine.
I had failed to reference the Office 15 Object Library and the VBA Extensibility 5.Office 14 Object Library is nowhere to be found except on my 2 week old backup archive.
Is this a Microsoft auto update? Is this what drives the breakpoint in the code module?
Reports :: Inserting Page Break To Show Week By Week Pages
Feb 11, 2015I've created a report based on a query that shows me the jobs that have been added to tblJobs between two selected dates.
The report works fine and displays all the information I need, however other than being sorted by day of the week i.e. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday etc. The records just run on one after another.
I want to create a page break, so that a full week is shown on a single page before then forcing a new page when it moves in to the next week.
Inserting A Line Break On A Report
Sep 7, 2006I have text in a number of fields that I want to insert into a text box on a report. The size of the text box is large enough to accommodate, but I want each line to have a linefeed (or carriage return) before it.
The report is based on a query. I created a field in the query that consists of something like:...txtText1 & CHR (10) & txtText2 & CHR (10) txtText3 AS MYTEXT.
What I did was to set the control source on the text box to MYTEXT, hoping that there would be nice linefeeds in between the fields. Unfortunately, all I got were some funny-looking boxes.
What's interesting is that you CAN insert a linefeed into a memo field and that linefeed will display properly. I just don't know how to force one in there to separate lines of text.
Any ideas?

Guidance.pdf#page=3
is set as a label hyperlink.
Unfortunately the document still opens on the first page.
If I type the path with #page=3 at the end into internet explorer, the document opens at the page specified.
Anyone have any idea's?:confused:

The table is called 'Find a Photo' and contains 6 catergories of various information including river, site and date. Jul 17, 2013An if statement which will disable out a field depending on which type of field is selected from a separate lookup.I know that is confusing, so let me explain with an example. If I have a lookup field connected to "Vegetables", "Fruits" and "Nuts". If the user selects a "Vegetable" from the lookup field, I need another field disabled, for example sake, "What fruit did you buy?". If the user selected a "Fruit" from the lookup, "What fruit did you buy?" would be enabled.
I know how to enable and disable fields, but it is the If Statement. How would you specify an If statement to specifically look at which category of a lookup is selected?The lookup is not static. So going with our example, the user can add more fruits, vegetables, and nuts as desired, so simply specifying the IDs for the available options will not work. The If statement needs to encompass the category.
Code To Link Tables - Overwrite Specific Links
Oct 13, 2006I searched and couldn't find anything on this specific issue.
I'm on the verge of designing a pretty big database and I've run into what may become a bit of a problem. There will probably be several backends in different locations. Should another backend ever be created or if the location for one changes, the user can use a form to refresh the links to the tables on that specific database.
The way I've done this so far is by having a piece of code that checks the tables for a connection string. If the table has a connection string, its a linked table, so the link gets deleted and replaced with the new link. Well this will no long work since there will be several backends and only 1 of them may need its tables relinked and using that code will delete all the table links, including the good ones.
Is there a way to make 'DoCmd.TransferDatabase' overwrite table names instead of giving the duplicate tables a number suffix? I think that doing this would be easier than retrieving the table names from the new backend and comparing them with the linked table names in the frontend so the old links could then be deleted.

Sep 4, 2014I am using a datasheet view with dbl click code to open a form to a selected record. I was able to use pbaldy's code and it worked perfectly.

Then I realized I really want to be able to go to other records after I have gone to this form and tried this:

But to no avail. Project_Number is a text field.
