I have a report that prints labels.
Every few times of opening the report, the page setup settings revert back to default i.e. 1" margins, 1 column etc.
how can i assure that these settings remain unchanged??

I have an unbound form with an associated report. When the user hits the 'print' button on the form/screen, the report is launched in the background. In the On Load event of the report I populate the report fields from the forms field as so:
Code:
Me.txtAddrMainLine2 = "NAME " & UCase([Forms]![frm_OrderRx].[txtPatientName])
This works like a charm as long as I call the report in Print Preview mode (i.e. with acViewPreview). But if I send the report directly to the printer, none of the fields print.
I've read about using other report events to populate the fields (e.g., On Format and On Print) and also something about using TempVars to pass the data. But I haven't read anything that's clear and definitive about the full answer.

I'm posting this question to Forms forum because I'm sure I can't do this with a report--though a report is really what I need to be using.
My database has buttons on the forms to preview a "page printout" report based on the data in the record displayed. The reports - formatted to closely resemble printed questionnaires provided by the client - are based on queries, run with criteria conditions to match the record on the screen. So, to run the report, you have to have queriable data -- i.e. the data shown in the form has to have been saved to table. So the print preview buttons include a Save command.
The client would like to be able to view the printout of a potential new (or changed) record without saving. (There is an audit trail that tracks changes and deletions once a record has been saved.) The only way I can think of that this might be done would be to print directly off of the form--which would produce un-pretty results at best, I'm afraid, and seems like a headache to set up. But would it even work? Using the file menu to preview printout of a form seems to save the record.
So, my questions:
1. Is there something I'm missing such that I could run the reports without saving the data?
2. If I DID print out the form instead of the report, can even THAT be done without saving the record? (They would only need to preview without saving, not actually print.)

I have the following script which I use to modify all report settings, with an array so that I can easily list reports that I want to change the settings for, there could be 50+ reports.
I can use a string but I have to put str1 as string, str2 as string etc... whereas an array would be easier (if I knew how to do it).
Code:
Public Sub ModifyAllReportsProperties()
Dim obj As AccessObject, dbs As Object
Set dbs = Application.CurrentProject
Dim ReportName As String
[Code] ....

I have a report that fits nicely onto one A4 page.
Then I had to add an ID column to be able to sort by ID (would not sort by ID unless I added the column to contain the record ID numbers, even though the query on which the report is based is sorted by ID).
Because I added another column (on the right hand side) to contain the ID column, it's gone over the A4 size and so prints a second page with the ID column on it.
So I hid the ID column, but a second page still prints, just with nothing on it.
I don't want to shrink any of the columns to make the ID column fit as the report is crowded already.
I tried setting the ID column header and content to Display When: Screen Only, but that doesn't work, it still prints the second blank page.
How can I stop that second page printing? I don't want to just print page one as sometimes the report is more than one page of data.
In Excel you can set the print area. Is there a similar setting in Access? I can't find one.

If you are using a form as a sort of user interface and you've got a user entering in information into the form, is there any way possible to print a preview of the currently entered form information without saving it to the database first?
I'm thinking a kind of validation thing. Like, "Click here and preview what you've entered. Sure this is what you want?" type of thing.

On this form, there is a text box for Quantity...At the end of the form, there will be a button that when pressed:The current record the data on the form is entered for is saved,A report is printed on a specific printer,I do not want the report to actual display,The number of copies it prints should be equal to what the quantity field indicates.I do have the report already created and the Quantity field is on the report (just not visible).Once this all happens, it should return the user to the form, that is blank, waiting for a new record entry.

Thanks for the help so far...
I have managed to export areport to file but I lose all the formatting. I get the option to output as html, xls, txt, rtf or snapshot format.
Is there a way I can output the file whilst maintaining the look of the report as it is in print/preview??
Cheers

Hello all!
I would like to have one stupid question, because I could not find any answer on this forum.
I want save the Form as Report. I can do that from "Menu bar", but I want to do that from the code (VBA or Macro) without inputting the output parameters by users.
Do you have any idea how?
Many thanks.

Can anyone tell me how to have Access automatically close a report without saving any changes.
I do not mind if the user closes the report manually but do not want Access to prompt the user to save changes. I want it to automatically abandon any changes that were made.

Hi all - I'm new here and am very glad to find this forum for some help!
I've been using Access for several years and I do the same type of reports over and over and all of a sudden I'm having trouble.
I typically modify existing queries - changing the name of the department in order to pull up their info - and then I format a report and modify that same report over and over with the "Properties" key where I pull in the new query info and then use SAVE AS to save the report with that department's information.
For the first time ever it will not let me SAVE AS with the new info. Sometimes it just does nothing at all - appearing to save but then the report isn't there - sometimes giving me a pop up box that says it couldn't find the search key - I don't even know what that is!
I can SAVE AS with queries, but not reports. HELP!
Thanks!

Hi,
I was wondering if there was a way for a report to be automatically saved as an excel file. Also, the Access database is stored on the company's server so would you be able to choose the path where the excel file would be stored?
Cheers,
Ben

I am building a database which produces a report which I have formatted as a letter, I know I could have done this via a mail merge etc however...
What I am wanting to achieve is when this report(letter) is run, is there a way that when it is produced from a macro button embedded in a form that this report can then be saved as a pdf attachment within the same access database attached to a client record?

I have developed an Access Database for my Co-Op work term workplace, and everything seems to be running smoothly with the exception of the report generation phase. The company I am at has a set template for all reports (Clients column always goes in a specific place on the page, and the report always contains the same categories in the same locations; things like that). The problem is that, every time I go to make a new report, I have to re-format and re-make the report. Is it possible to save a report`s format so that, when I go to make a new report, it automatically applies that format to the data being used?

I have generated a report in acviewreport, after viewing the details I want to save the report as a pdf file with the client name, invoice number and date. In the report design view I added a cmd button and successfully coded it. However, it saves the report WITH the cmd button showing. I don't want this button saved. Is it possible to remove the button from the report AFTER I have clicked it?

I have a report that opens from a command button on a form. The settings on the report are set to pop-up and modal to keep the focus on the report until closed. I like the settings as they are but I need to print the report once it pops up. As the settings go, I cannot access or use the toolbars to print the report. How can I print the report from the pop-up, modal view?
Thank you in advance for all your help

I'm not sure if this is possible in Access, but I was wondering if there is a way to automatically run an Update query when a report is printed.
More specifically, I have confirmation reports, and I want the date printed and confirmation sent fields to be updated upon printing. I have an update query ready, but because I'm not going to be the person actually doing the work, I'd like the update query to be run automatically.

I have a report that is dependent on the content of a single text box (a student's name). I would like to be able to select multiple names from a listbox and loop through those names to print the reports. So far, no success.
I believe that if I could pass the name of the student during the loop to the text box, the report would print properly.
Below is an attempt to pass the names in the listbox to the textbox.
Set frm = Forms![Student Reports]
Set ctl = frm![lstStudentNames]
For Each vItem In ctl.ItemsSelected
Me.txtCurrentStudentName = ctl.ItemsSelected
Next v Item
Obviously this is not correct. Any ideas?
Thanks.

Please bear with my ramblings, but I’m not sure what you may find relevant.
I am currently doing work for a service company where the employees are required to wear the company’s uniform. When someone joins the company they are required to purchase their own uniform. After a year, the company buys the replacement uniform. Each year on the anniversary date, the employee is given their annual evaluation. At that time they are given a requisition to go to the uniform supplier for new uniform articles.
Each item in the uniform has a life span. For example, shirts and pants are replaced each year, winter coats and spring/fall coats are replaced every three years, caps every two years etc.
I have a form which lists the item no., description and cost of each item and when they are due to be replaced. For example
Winter coat last replaced on 2003/11/10, replacement date is calculated to 2006/11/10
When this employee has his evaluation this November, he will be entitled to a new winter coat. The calculations are done by clicking an option button beside the item on the form. Clicking replaces the issue date with Date() and adds three years to the issue date using DateAdd for a new replacement date. Clicking the button also indicates that the item is to be replaced.
NOW, I have all this working.
What I would like to do is find some way of printing the requisition from this form before closing it. Something along the lines of:
If Option1 is yes
Print this item on the requisition
Endif
And do this on every item on the form, if it’s yes, print it on the requisition, if its no ignore it.
The option buttons are not part of the underlying tables or query only part of the form.
If I’m doing this backwards, please let me know. I’m well ahead of my deadline.
