Reports :: Access 2003 - Filter Report Based On Combo Box
Feb 3, 2015
My Access 2003 Database contains the following objects:
1. tblTrackerData
- this contains over 1,000 student enrollment records.
One of the fields "QualCourseName" (text) contains the name of the Training Course that the student has enrolled in.
2. qryCourseNamesGrouped is a query based upon the above table with one field only - QualCourseName. This includes the names of the training courses and has been grouped so that only 17 training courses appear, not over 1,000.
3. frmParameter is a form that includes a combo box cboFiltered based on the above query AND a command button CmdFiltered to open a report rptCourseNamesGrouped and filter the report based on the selection made from the combo box.
I have added the following code to the OnClick event attached to the cmd button"
================================================== ======
Private Sub cboFiltered_Click()
On Error GoTo Err_cboFiltered_Click
Dim stDocName As String
[Code].....
When I click on the cmd button, the entire report is opened, instead of the selection that I made in the dropdown list.

I am quite new to Access and have been working with a sample DB from Microsoft. I have been looking for some ways to filter a report based on the values in some comboboxes, and have followed the instructions on a website (can't post link yet).
I also looked at this file (**can't post link yet**) and it seems like everything works fine here. So I started a new DB with my own table, and tried to do the same thing as in this file.
Everything works fine.
But when I try all these steps in my own DB (the sample DB from Microsoft), it doesn't work.
When I filter by "Status" (f.ex: "In Progress" or "Not Started"), it seems to work fine.
However, when I filter by "Assigned To", I get the following error message: "Data Type Mismatch in criteria expression". So I googled this error message , but this field has nothing to do with any date formatting.
It gets even stranger when I try to filter by "Project":
Then a new pop up appears and asks me to enter the "Project".
No matter what I enter, the report turns blank

I am trying to create a report that filters out certain records in a look-up field.
The field is called "program status", and the options are:
Housed
Evicted/Un-housed
Grad
GRAI
Closed
I want the report to display only records that are classified as "Housed" or "Evicted/Un-housed". Additionally, I'd like to be able to create a second report with only the Grad, GRAI, and Closed records.

I am using the Navigation form and I have a tab that has all the sales quotes for a particular salesperson. Because my salespeople like to work with paper I have created sub tabs which contain a report with the same information but filtered based as follows: this Month, this year, and Last year. This report needs to be printable based on the filtered information so I created a print button within the report however when clicked it prints the entire report not the filtered report.
The filter criteria is located in the navigation button, navigation where under the data properties. I have the on click event of the button set to open the report in print preview but I need to know how I filter the where in the macro to read the criteria from the active navigation button property?

I must use XP/Access 2003 to solve this problem for reasons I won't get into.
I have a report with a Group by on City.
The users need to be able to sort by Coordinator within that OR by Client Name based on a selection they make on the form that opens the report.
-- I have tried to set .OrderBy
-- I have tried to set .RecordSource to different queries with order by hardcoded in them (I only have 2 sort options fortunately)
Is there a way to dynamically change the "Sorting and Grouping" defined in the report? This seems to be the only sorting that the report is responding to.

I've got a simple dataset that will ALWAYS have 4 rows, against which I have assigned the colours Green, Amber, Red, Grey. So I made a simple pie-chart to go on the report, but I can't work out how to assign the same colours.
Please see 3 attachments showing the current layout, the preferred layout (which I mocked up in Excel) and the chart settings screen.
The chart is working OK i.e. 4 slices appear and they are the right size, but when I open the chart, I see only East, West, North. So I am unable to manually set the colour for the 4th slice.

I am building a replacement Access 2013 database for our ageing Access 2003 database. I have an invoice form with a subform with a combo box that allows me to select which jobs to invoice based on the customer selected in the invoice form, which is working fine. I have designed my invoice and have the criteria [Forms]![Invoice]![ID] in the report query so that it just selects the record that is open in the invoice form. I have an ID (which is the invoice number) group on the report and it is then sorted by date and then job number. I thought it was all working fine when I tested it, it is the same method as I used in the 2003 database. However I have a problem, when I make up and print the customers first invoice it works fine, but when I go to make up a second invoice for the same customer the invoice includes all the jobs from the first invoice as well, and if I then go to reprint the first invoice all the jobs from the second invoice as there as well.

In Access 2003 I have a form, at the footer of which I want to put some summary information. One of which is a count of the number of purchases over £500. I have tried many variations after searching the posts on this site but the only one which does not return me an error of some kind with the expression is
=IIf([Bought For]>"500",Count([Bought For]),0)
where 'Bought For is the reports listing of the purchase prices in a given date range when opening the report, but the value returned in my test is '0' when it should be '2' as the test file has two purchases of over £500.

I am trying to get a report based on a selection from a combo box. The issue is many fold. Firstly I have been playing around with it so much that I have messed up the syntax and can't remember what I had. Here is what I have at the moment (this is based on a button):
DoCmd.OpenReport "RepClassrooms", acViewPreview, , " Class = '" & Me.cmboRepClass & "'"
The second issue is that it isn't filtering on the combobox - it gives all the data from the database based on all the entries in the combobox but this is probably down to the syntax again.

I have a query that gives field values like name, age, department, etc for all the staff members in our company. These fields are obtained from many other tables and queries. Now I am planning to generate a report, which would display the results of this query. The catch is I am trying to do it in such a way that I want the user to have the option to select for which staff members he wants to run the report. Example: if I have 10 staff members, the user should be able to select staff3, staff6, staff7 and run the report such that it displays all the field values from the query related ONLY to these 3 staff members.
I could put up some labels and checkboxes for each staff on the form, and then select some checkboxes and get the report to read which checkbox is selected, and then display the concerned results through the report.

MsgBox "The filter returned Null"
Else
End If
End Sub

I'm trying to create a form which filters a report based off of combo boxes selected by the user. The code I'm using currently is:
Code:
DoCmd.OpenReport "rptProgramAttendees", acViewReport, , "ProgramIDFK = " & cboProgramTitle
This works great to return a report if the user selects something from the combo box. How do I adapt this so that the user can also leave the combo box blank and filter the report to return all records?Additionally, what if I want to have the user filter between dates selected on the form; i.e. between 'txtStart' and 'txtEnd'

I have DB in access 2007. I have a report that is uses a select query to generate the information for the report. It has been working great, But however lately like maybe with in the last month, it has been causeing Access 2007 to crash. I am having the same issue with another DB that uses the same information but that information is imported in. both Databases have worked great up until two months ago. Microsoft states that it is because of the program. I have tried to repair the DB by using the Repair option. I am confused as to why this would be happening. I can create a new report and it seems to work. but I do not want to change all the DB on everyone's computer just for this reason. I also have two buttons on my report that utilize macros to close or print the report.

Hello everyone!
I think I am asking the impossible, but can't think why it can't be done!
Here's the dilema:
I am working with an unbound form to search a Mobile Register.
On the form I have an unbound combo box which looks up User details from a table (LKP_User).
When I select a user, I want the subform below to filter all the details for that user and show me which mobiles they have.
PROBLEM:
Combo Box has 3 fields, User_ID, User, Dept_ID. User_ID is bound column but not displayed in combo (only User) is displayed.
I need to link the User_ID with the User_ID on the subform, but don't know how to tell it to look at column 1 of the combo box.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? Do I need some fancy code to get this to work?
Cheers in anticipation
NKA

I currently have a combo box that filters form based on specialist (an employee using the system), and this works fine:
Private Sub FilterSpecialist_AfterUpdate()
Me.Filter = "SpecialistAssigned = '" & Me.FilterSpecialist & "'"
Me.FilterOn = True
End Sub
When Specialist Assigned name is selected, it only shows their cases (records of the form that are assigned to them).
However, now I'm trying to also filter based on only the selected Specialists Open cases. I have a combo box at the bottom of the form that saves whether the Case is Open or Closed, (creatively) called CaseOpenClosed:
Private Sub FilterSpecialist_AfterUpdate()
Me.Filter = ("SpecialistAssigned = '" & Me.FilterSpecialist & "'" And CaseOpenClosed = "Open")
Me.FilterOn = True
End Sub
I've tried this based on me searching the forum but it doesnt filter at all anymore, and no error either. I've tried other ways but get errors. What is wrong with this?

I have a report based on a query.There is a field in my personnel table and the query: [Field] with values from my lookup table and has three choices:
1-Inspections
2-Administrative
3-Safety..
I have a report and would like to filter based on [Field].I can filter by putting [Field]=Inspection on the Filter On Load, then typing 1 into the parameter box. And it works.I cannot however choose more than one of the three choices and I have to type the number in. Fine for me but it won't be for other users.it is used for more than one report. I would also like to avoid having seperate queries for all these reports.In other words, I would like to filter the report, not the query.

I have a report containing all the fields from my "main table". I want to create buttons on a from that will filter information from the report. For instance, I have a field titled "Priority". I want to create a button that will filter the report to only show records with a "Level 1" priority. Is there anyway I can do this using VBA?

I made a report that show a list of data where there is a date. It sorts the report by year then by month.I collects the information about the date from a field in a table where the whole date is inserted (example28.12.2014. (date/month/year)).What I want is to make a combobox or a listbox where you would chose a year you want it to show you the report for and a button that would open the report.So to make it clear in a form you would have a combobox where years would be displayed (and i would like the combobox to somehow know what years are inserted in the table), you select the year and click on the button that would open the report for that year.
The report name is "rptClients". The table from where the data for report is taken is "tblCustomers" and the field where the date is in the table is called "DateOfUse".Also in the report the date is in a field called "DateOfUse" also.

I have a report that contains a subreport. The report is simply an image of a word document. The subreport will contain the actual data.When I open the subreport, the IN query works perfectly. When I open the main report, I only get the first record listed in the IN query. I have the master/child links set properly.
