Reports :: Adjust Section Width To Avoid Blank Pages

Nov 18, 2014

I have set up a report in Access. However, when I look at it in print preview, I get the message that the section width is greater than the page width, and that some pages will be blank. It is obvious that the Detail Section is the issue, but I can't figure out how to reduce the section width. The detail section only contains a few text boxes that are well within the margins of the other sections.

How do I adjust the section width so there won't be any blank pages?

Reports :: Avoid Blank Spaces

Mar 21, 2014

I have the follwing three quantities: category, month and value.so I would like a report to place each value in the corresponding row (category) and column (month).using a cross tab query this is quite easy, and I also managed with a simple query, by placing 12 textboxes in the report and using the iif instruction (iif month-jan,value,null and so on for each month).

now the problem arises when i have two values for the same category but in different months. In this case, the report will place the last value in the line below the previous, leaving a blank space.I'll upload an example asap, in the meantime i try to explain it here below:

.......jan..feb..mar..
cat1 10
cat2 30

Queries :: Adjust Column Width To Best Fit Using VBA

Mar 20, 2013

How to adjust the column width of the fields to best fit in a Query using vba codes? Manually it can be done by selecting the Query - Click on More dropdown of the Reports section in the ribbon - Click on Column width - and select best fit as the option.I want this to happen by a vba code and not manually doing it everytime because the field length changes as it is a dynamically created Query.

Forms :: Make Frame Automatically Adjust To Image Width And Height

Aug 7, 2013

Is it possible to make it so that whatever the dimensions of the image i paste the OLE object's frame will also be the same? I'm having a problem, not necessarily a problem more like a preference, I'm inserting pictures of each individual inside a database and whomever last took these pictures didn't make sure there was a standard size So all the images are different sizes and when they're put inside the OLE frame you can see the image inside it but the frame itself also shows its white background because the image isn't the full dimensions of the frame. I was thinking if it's possible to make the frame automatically adjust to the image's width & height.

Tables :: Adding Multiple Fields With Blank Section

Mar 27, 2014

I am creating a table in access 2010 for my consumable and bench stock report. I made a 12 fields which I name it the month of the year and another 1 field to add the total disburse materials in one whole year. I did this formula to add the 12 fields

[Jan]+[Feb]+[Mar]+[Apr]+[May]+[Jun]+[Jul]+[Aug]+[Sept]+[Oct]+[Nov]+[Dec].

But the problem is its just adding the complete consecutive months that I disburse and the row with blank section the total disburse doesn't show on the total disburse for the whole year. I try to use the code =Nz([Total Disburse],0) but it shows on the screen i cannot be used in calculated column.

Reports :: How To Adjust Text For Subforms With Dynamic Heights

Jun 27, 2014

I've created an Access Report of a letter to be printed and mailed to customers. The majority of the letter is text, however there is a subform in the middle that will have a wide range of records displayed in it. This causes the subform's height to adjust from 1/2" to several inches, depending on the number of records. I need the text below the subform to start just below the last record in the subform, no matter how many records are displayed in the subform.

Modules & VBA :: Restrict Printing Rights To Users - Print Blank Pages

Feb 10, 2014

I've been asked to make sure only certain users in my database are able to print anything (i.e. Administrators). Is there any option/property to do this?

I have already built in User Access controls using the ctl.Tag property. The only way I can think off the top of my head is when a 'general user' uses it, to ensure that every control is displayed 'on screen only'. This of course doesn't stop them printing - just makes them print blank pages!

Reports :: Settings To Avoid Printing Report Column

Nov 13, 2014

I have a report that fits nicely onto one A4 page.

Then I had to add an ID column to be able to sort by ID (would not sort by ID unless I added the column to contain the record ID numbers, even though the query on which the report is based is sorted by ID).

Because I added another column (on the right hand side) to contain the ID column, it's gone over the A4 size and so prints a second page with the ID column on it.

So I hid the ID column, but a second page still prints, just with nothing on it.

I don't want to shrink any of the columns to make the ID column fit as the report is crowded already.

I tried setting the ID column header and content to Display When: Screen Only, but that doesn't work, it still prints the second blank page.

How can I stop that second page printing? I don't want to just print page one as sometimes the report is more than one page of data.

In Excel you can set the print area. Is there a similar setting in Access? I can't find one.

How to fix the height and width of a report. I would like the report to stay landscape, 100mm wide, 62mm high. This is required by a label printer.

The issue is that a A4 laser printer has to be set as default (for other software) so when the report is launched the size is set to the default printer size, when I select the label printer it fails as it is the wrong size.

Reports :: Detail Section Randomly Highlighted

May 18, 2015

when i generate a report i intermittently get a page that has the detail section highlighted. The report generates an invoice for each customer selected, a new page for each invoice with a repeating header on each page. I have used the vba to some of the formatting on the page. Usually there are between 20-40 pages generated with each report, or there is an option to print just one invoice. I get the highlight on 1 page on some set of invoices, and other everything works fine.

I can not for the life of me figure out what variables are causing the detail section to be highlighted. Does not repeat on a specific customer, place in the report, or any specific that i can tell. What settings/variables/triggers/events would cause the detail section to become highlighted blue.

Right now i can generate the report, see a blue page(usually after its printed), and the regenerate it and its not there or on a different page. The invoices uploaded are for the same person generated right after each other..

Reports :: Grouping And Sorting Without Header Section

Apr 10, 2015

What I wish to achieve is to create a report that groups and sorts without the need of a header section as it is taking up to much space cascading :

----
----
----
----
----
----

rather than :

---- ---- ---- ----
----
----

---- ---- ----
----
----

I basically want it not to cascade but do the exact same thing as it does inside its own header. (We need to dramatically cut down the page amount as a delivery schedule is printed out daily and could do with the page count around 10 rather than 50 ).

Reports :: Highlight Only Last Row Of Detail Section In A Report?

Is there a way to only highlight the last row of the detail section in a report?

I tried the following code in the "Format" but could not get it to work in Access 2010.

If Me.ClaimStatuses = "Total Potential Recoverable" Then
Me.Section(acDetail).BackColor = vbYellow
Else
Me.Section(acDetail).BackColor = vbWhite
End If

Where "ClaimStatuses" is the control text box and "Total Potential Recoverable" is the value I want to equal so this row which is the last row will be yellow.

Tried using 'On Page' and logoc aroung [Page] but no progress.

How Do You Fill A Reports Detail Section Dynamically In Access2000

Feb 12, 2008

Hi,

I want a user to click the report, and an input box appears asking for a product number. This product number is used in a recordset (VBA code in the report) to fill the text boxes in the Detail section.

Code:Private Sub Report_Open(Cancel As Integer)Dim rst As DAO.RecordsetDim db As DAO.DatabaseDim itemCode As StringSet db = CurrentDb()itemCode = InputBox("Enter the Item Number", "Complete Catlog Prices")Set rst = CurrentDb.OpenRecordset("SELECT * FROM [Catalog Prices Complete] WHERE Prefixprodno = '" & itemCode & "'", dbOpenDynaset)Do Until rst.EOF Me!txtCat = rst("Volume") 'error 02448 cannot assign to this 'Me!txtPrice = rst("Price") rst.MoveNextLooprst.CloseEnd Sub

I'm sure my text box is called txtCat though. Is it an array I should try to fill? If so, any suggestions :S

Thanks,

Reports :: Variable Row Height In Report Detail Section

Apr 16, 2013

In the detail section of my report, I recently added a second row which has only 1 text field. When the value of the textbox in the 2nd row is null, I want the total row height equal to just the first row. When the value in the textbox in the 2nd row is not null, then the total row height is equal to row 1 and 2. I tried to make the textbox in the second row invisible when it had a null value thinking that when it was null, the report would shrink to the first row height, but that didn't seem to work.

If there are multiple lines in the query to be added to the one invoice, I don't know how to write code that will add those multiple lines in the detail section. Same type of data on each line, just basically pertains to several different lines of work.

Reports :: Printing Twice As Many Pages As Necessary

Feb 25, 2014

I have a report where the detail section, holding 4 subreports, takes up 5 inches in the middle of the page between the header and footer. We want the entire 5 x 8 area enclosed in a box on every page. I have tried to achieve this by putting a line in the Detail_Format section:

Code:
boxDetail.Height = 5 * 1440 * Pages

However, when I run the report, I get pages 1/3 correctly, then 2/3 and 3/3 with no detail section or box, and then pages 4/3, 5/3, and 6/3 with blank detail sections and no box. If it's a 1-page report, the same - page 1/1 is perfect and page 2/1 is blank, no data and no box. I also sometimes (but not always) get overflow errors from the Detail_Format event.

I know it's not a margin error because that would be every other page, and the page count wouldn't be doing that. (Still, I have scrupulously checked every margin, and they all look fine.) Getting this look on the report is a priority. Any way to achieve the same result with the box without causing the missing data and extra pages?
