Reports :: Asking User If They Want To View Additional Report
May 23, 2014
I am having a problem with the code in the Close event on a report when asking the user if they want to view additional reports after closing the current report in preview. Report Closes after the Yes/No answer is selected. If yes selected it does nothing. If No is selected it does nothing, This code works fine in a data entry form after changing the close and open commands. Using Access 2010
Code Using Now.
Private Sub Report_Close()
Dim IntAnswer As Integer
IntAnswer = MsgBox("Would you like to View/Print additional Reports?", vbQuestion + vbYesNo, "Yes")
If IntAnswer = vbYes Then
[Code]....

I need to create a report with multiple subforms. I set up my first report and then I believe I need to add "more detail" sections or another page to this report so i can drag in my additional forms.
How do i separate out sub forms? Ideally I will want to have the main table on the top then the sub form in the middle, then the next on the bottom of the page.

I have a form where user can chose his own criteria for the report, like time period, ppl involved and other parameters. i open report filtered with these conditions. I also create a nice text (as public variable) bout what where the search criteria and put it in the header/footer. Then I export the report as xls file. it's nicely saved as column names and data, just what i need.how to add a field that would store the criteria, ie that string public variable that has it all neatly explained?

I've got a report, which on the screen is three chrts and a page break in between. Page is set up to print landscape.
When I print the report or save to pdf it adds a lot of pages in between 2 and 3. It seems to be of chart no.2 getting smaller and smaller. I've attached a copy of the pdf so you can see what I mean.
its doing this on all my reports.

How to turn a single long (page spanning) column of data into "snaking columns" or "newspaper-style columns," but all of the results are only available in Print or Print Preview. I am looking for a way to have the correct, multi-column, result visible in Report View on the screen.
The reports I am formatting will not be printed onto paper; they will be seen only on screen. The data will vary depending on the source table, some have records that are about 200 records long, and others are only 50 or so. The number of columns across the page will need to be dynamic depending the total number of records the report pulls in.

I have two related issues with reports. That is the data shows in report view and then disappears. The first is the simplest. I have a report that has a query recordsource and I calculate totals and populate the report in the OnLoad event using VBA code. This displays perfectly in "report view" and prints or exports fine. My issue is that after the print or export, the report has no data in my fields in "report view". It is like it is reloading the report without invoking the OnLoad event. When I close the report and re-open in report view, everything is fine again until I print.
The second issue is related. I have another report that is a bit more complicated. Due to the number of controls (I use many text boxes to display my calculations), I am using 3 subreports to get around the limitations in the number of controls. In report view, the report looks fine, but when I scroll down to the bottom and then back up, the text boxes in the subreport sections are empty. The parts of the report not in subreports is fine. By using "Msgboxes" in events, I discovered that when I scroll down, the subreports close, then re-open when I scroll back up. Again, due to an Access limitation of 22 inches per section, the I placed the subreports in the "report Header" section. It appears that my problem occurs when I scroll down to the "detail" section of the main report.

Im creating a database that we can enter jobs into.A job will consist of 3 seperate parts, Called "Trusses", "Walls", "Posis". They will each have a different delivery date and possibly a delivery time.
I am having trouble creating a report that gives me a week view, Monday to Friday, that shows what deliveries are on each day.The main thing here is there is one job entry, with the 3 parts. So there will need to be 3 seperate entries on the report for each part of that job.

I'm tracking some charges and want to report them based on month/year and an Early/Late (yes/no) flag within the query I created. When I wrote the report I grouped on mon/year then on Early/Late, then calculate averages. I then want to calculate the difference in the charges between the Early & Late rows. Here....
Jun 13
32 868 27 (Early row #, charge, avg)
11 1279 116 (Late row)
Now I want to subtract the 27 from the 116. I figured out I could assign the 27 to a field in the header and the 116 in the footer, that's the only way I could make them "stick". I then calculate the difference and things are great. Until I try to print it. When I print the difference is 0 because the group header & footer fields are both populated with the 27.

How to proceed and what is the "accepted" version of events.I have created a report, a dynamic method statement actually, and want my user to be able select some data to appear in the report. Report is rptMS01, it is fed from a query and has some fields to automatically populate [Company], [Site], [Postcode] etc. All of the static text is in CanGrow textboxes to sidestep the report height limit. The report is opened by a button on a form which uses a macro to open only for the current site. All OK so far.
My boss would like a section/text box/subreport to select the personnel involved in each method statement and this to appear on the report. So, on clicking the button on the form which would usually open the report directly, some kind of intermediary selection form opens instead with a list of all personnel. User can then select which personnel to involve and on clicking OK this appears in the designated box on the report. A CanGrow/Shrink textbox would be ideal!
Do I need to include this in the current query which feeds the report? I know a listbox can have multiple selections but how would I reference this? How do I keep the other fields as well? Should I create a table with the personnel list?...

I would like my user to be able to enter dates on a report.
I have entered unbound fields on the report; but it doesn't keep any of the information (dates) for printing or otherwise. (I don't need to save these dates since they change monthly.)

We have an Access 2003 database used by a small number of staff located in different towns. One of the reports is generated using a query by form.
Two users located in the same office recently upgraded to Access 2010 don't get the same results for this report as I do (I still use Access 2003).
Other staff located in different offices use Access 2010 and get the same report results as me.

I managed to create a report by user using a combo box. When an user selects a name from the combo box, it generates a report showing all the records by that name.
However, now I need to be able to generate a report as above but between 2 dates. How??
I am having two sets of criteria.
1) by user
2) between 2 dates
Can this be done?

I have a report which is bound to a query. The body of the report comes from the query.I also have additional data that is displayed on the form that is currently 'hard' coded into an a label.
I would call this data reference data. It's not specific to a client so there is no logical place to store it other than a reference table which will have no links to other tables. ie it's not truly relational. can I get data from this reference table in the same way I could do on a form by using a combo box and having a SELECT statement?

I'm trying to make a report that a untrained user can use to review the relevant data from the database I'm creating. All of the work I've done so far has been directly in the tables . Here's a quick outline of my general data organization:
Department:
DepartmentID(PK)
DepartmentName
Employee:
EmployeeID(PK)
EmployeeName
DepartmentID(FK)
Needs_Work (check box)
[code]....
Basically, I want the user to select a department to view using a combo box or option group (which I'm not sure of how to do in a report). Then, I want to view the employees within that department sorted first by whether or not the Needs_Work check box is selected, and then by how many of their competencies are unchecked.

I'm trying to create a form which filters a report based off of combo boxes selected by the user. The code I'm using currently is:
Code:
DoCmd.OpenReport "rptProgramAttendees", acViewReport, , "ProgramIDFK = " & cboProgramTitle
This works great to return a report if the user selects something from the combo box. How do I adapt this so that the user can also leave the combo box blank and filter the report to return all records?Additionally, what if I want to have the user filter between dates selected on the form; i.e. between 'txtStart' and 'txtEnd'

I do not have the privileges to write code, but can use macros and Expression builder. I have written a bunch of queries and made reports for each of them. What I want to do is to be able to choose from the list of reports and view the chosen one. If that cannot be done without code, then to choose from a list of queries and then view the report made from the query. The user needs to be able to choose.

I used a macro to record the date and time the current record was modified and show that information on a form - the information on how I did that is here: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/a...0345351033.aspx
That works wonderfully, however I would like to add to this the user that modified the record.
Is there a macro code for this??
I tried setting the Item to read [UserModified] and the Expression to be User() however that did not work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated...
thanks.

The spreadsheet I've attached contains a ton of calculated cells and linked data. The people who created and utilize it aren't necessarily interested in changing the way they use it or populate it each quarter. That being said, my task is to somehow create a way that it can be sent to/seen by each person differently. First I'll point out that the 3 columns that are blank normally contain names, I deleted them for obvious reasons. The first of those columns, B, contains unique names for each agent in the firm, these people need to ONLY see their own data. The second column of names are basically managers, they need to see the records for each agent that falls under them. The 3rd column of names is irrelevant for these purposes.
Now if all this data were in access, and everyone had access to it I could easily just make records visible or invisible based on user name and I wouldn't be here right now. But they can't and that's not an option. I honestly don't know if this should be done solely in Excel, in Access or a bit of both. Currently this spreadsheet gets emailed to each manager and they have to review the data with each agent.
The first tab, worksheet, is basically instructions. It would be nice if those were images on the page and then all of the data were below that so that the agents could see them together and understand it better. As I'm sure you'll see it's a pretty complicated system so they have a hard time understanding it.
Note: There are actually about 3,000 records, I've deleted most of them for size purposes.

I got a form called "Make quote". In this form a user can select a product from a line of fields. This "line" contains: article code, product, price and quantity the customer requests.
Each single quote can contain a very different amount of products. Some quotes just have 1 product, other quotes have 25 products.
I'm looking for a way to let the user add as many "lines" as necessary for the quote. BUT I don't want him to need to go into design view.
I'm thinking of maybe adding a button to the form which does this, but I'm not sure how.

I am trying to limit what a user can see when accessing a database in access. I am only testing with this in access before taking it to SQL server. I have 3 databases and I combined the data into one set of tables and now what i am trying to do is a certain user can only view data from a particular database.
I have a table with the users id and password, as well as an ID number from each database that I am trying to tie to the users.
for example one user can view and add/edit data in databases 1 and 3 but not 2. while there might be a user that can view and add/edit on 1 and 2 but not 3.
