Reports :: Blurry Image In Access PDF But Not In Word
Dec 19, 2014
I have been printing reports in pdf format, and the jpg company logo is blurry; my boss did not approve.....
Yet the same image in Word or Excel prints very clear.
I tried bmp, png, tif, etc., with no luck.
I finally figured out that if I check "Standard" publishing in Access then my images are clear.
But, I have to check the Standard box every time I print.
Is there a way to change the default pdf printing in Access to Standard???

I have an intermediate level experience in access.I am a private investigator and have created a beautiful access database to manage my case intakes, case progress, investigators, clients 8nvoices, expenses and a whole much more for my business.
I have integrated word merge in my database to generate final reports etc.
how can i merge an image that is attached to a record to word?
Basically i create a new case and input all pertinate information for that specific case and in that case I add an image of the subject, google maps for the residence and other images such as facebook screenshots etc.. and what i want to do is when I merge the case with word to also have a page in word to include this images.

I have a database of film events, for which i have to do posters.
With the click of a button on a form, access opens word and puts all the fields in, including a field called [photo], which is the name of the image stored outside of the database.
Is there a way of getting that image into the word Document with all the other fields? Or have I just wasted an afternoon....

I've got a word mail merge document that is formatted exactly how I want it. I'm using an Access 2003 database to populate the word 2003 mail merge document.What I would like is to use a access report rather than a mail merge but correctly formatting everything is going to take me forever.
Is there any way I can use the word document I already have to enforce the formatting or must I spend hours positioning each line of text by eye and guessing where on my report it must go to match the word doc?

On open I change the Picture property of an image control to another image. I do it 2 places. Access crashes on the first change or on the second. In about 50 % of the cases.

I am running Access 2013. I have created a report where the tables are linked to a SQL DB
I am trying to run a sales report that includes an stored image.
I am adding an Image and then using the control source to look up the 'filepath' stored in the DB. When I run the report on screen all the images are showing but when I try to print it (including exporting to PDF or XPS) and Print Preview only 2 of the 9 images print per page. The images are around 2-4 Mb.
I'm guessing its to do with the files sizes but cannot do anything about the size.

Please help
I am creating a form that merges data in text fields to a word document using the bookmark method. For one part of the form i need to browse for images and then insert them into a word document. Is there any way i could create a subform that will store multiple image pathways and then merge the images to a word document using a command button.
Any suggestions would be fantastic.
Please help me i feel like crying.
Thanks

We need to replicate an Access report we have in Microsoft Word. The report has a fixed, small image in the header and so we embedded it in the report (it is not in an external file). To put this image in the Word document the only way we have come up with is shown in the code below.
Code:
Dim apWord As Word.Application
Dim doc As Word.Document
Set apWord = CreateObject("Word.application")
doc.Shapes.AddPicture "G:ImagesSinful Banner.bmp", False, True, 0, 0, 540, 42
Which requires an external image file. We really would like to avoid this. We could make a template Word document, but that too would be an external file. We know how to put this image in a table as an OLE object, but can't find any way to get it from the table into the Word document.

If I use the word template named "ABC.dot" as attached and write the following piece of code to print off the letters with different appropriate background , it works perfectly fine:
Code:
Sub PrintLetters()
Application.DisplayAlerts = False
Dim cn As ADODB.Connection
Dim rs As ADODB.Recordset
Dim r As Long
Set cn = New ADODB.Connection
[Code] ....
But if I combine two templates together in one template as attached "Capita.dot" then it doesn't display background picture at all in any of the cases. I am using the same piece of code but the background image is not displaying. The background image shows logos for each letter like For capita letters , the logo will be capita . For Friends Life letters the logo background will be different.

I have developed a database using Access 2010. This is split into a Front End and a Back End.
In the same folder as the Back End I store a number of user modifiable files in either bitmap (.bmp) or MS Word (.doc to retain compatibility with older versions).
Unfortunately, the drive letter where the back end resides will change from location to location and I can't do anything about that.
I have set up a function that returns the location of the folder where the docs reside irrespective of the back end drive location, and this works perfectly with OLE linked pictures but not with OLE linked Word documents. User changes show correctly in Word document changes at locations with the original drive assignment but other locations show only the original doc contents even though they have been changed on the local back end location. - even if I delete the Source Item info on the report!!
An example of the code I am using for the Source Item is <GetBackEndPath() & "Footer.doc"> without the angled brackets of course, where GetBackEndPath() is a global variable storing the location of the documents folder ending with a back slash.
I have tried the above in the reports Source Doc property but Access won't accept this and says it isn't valid for this property.

My printer does not have a "print mirror image" setting. Is there a way to create a report that would show on the screen as a mirror image?
The application here is that the informartion would be printed on iron-on material and then transferred to a t-shirt as a souvenir. Currently, I do a screen capture, crop and flip the image in Adobe and then print it, but I would like to set it up so that anyone could use the database without my intervention nor using a second application. Reducing steps users need to take is a must.
Thanks.
-Joat.

I need to be able to browse to and open a folder from a form, and import images from within that folder to (i guess?) another form?
I then need to print each image on 3 different reports, but in order as below...
Image 1 - report 1
Image 1 - report 2
Image 1 - report 3
Image 2 - report 1
Image 2 - report 2
Image 2 - report 3
etc
Once images / reports are printed they can be removed.
Should I have a page that shows maybe 40 images and a big print button? or 40 images with a selection box by each one and a big print button? or 40 images and 40 print buttons? etc
The reports will need to change in the future, so a option to select any or all of the reports would be a really good idea.
I have access 2013 but I much prefer 2003 as I know where all the buttons are!

I want to get the link adress to an image in a report using VBA. I use the following code:
PHP Code:
Dim strPath As String
strPath = [CurrentProject].[Path] & "builder" & FirstImage
If Not Right(strPath, 7) = "bilder" Then
Me.huvudbild.Picture = strPath
Else
Me.huvudbild.Picture = [CurrentProject].[Path] & "builder\_tom.jpg"
End If
I get the following error (translated from Swedish): Error: 2424 The expression contains a field, a control or a property name that MS access couldnt find.

I have a database used for several product lines. Depending on the product line selected, I need to add an image to my report as the header for it. I need to store the images (there are only 3) in the database and cannot have an external link to them. Have been trying to figure out the best way to do this and I am finding both OLE Objects and Image Objects.

I thought this would be pretty simple, but I cannot figure out how and wasn't able find the solution here or anyway.
I have a source form. (I can resort to having a Table with OLE Object if I must, but prefer not to.) On this source form I wish to include different things such as company logo. This will determine what logo shows up in all the reports, so all the reports will have an image linking back to this embedded image on the source form.
Pseudo-code Example:
frmSource contains imgLogo
rptSample contains an image whose
control source = Forms!frmSource!imgLogo
How can I do this or achieve the same effect in a more-or-less simple way?
TIA

I need to show an image called PAID if my hidden field Paid Date has a date in.
I thought this would be straight forward but so far nothing.
I have my images within the database itself on Access 2010, so I am not referencing any in a C drive or other location.
Code:
Private Sub Report_Current()
On Error GoTo ErrHandler
If paiddate = Date Then
Paid.Visible = True
Else
Paid.Visible = False
End If
ErrHandler:
MsgBox "Error detected, error # " & Err.Number & ", " & Err.Description, vbOKOnly, "Error"
End Sub
But with no joy.
