Reports :: Change Font Color Based On True / False Value Of Another Field
Jun 28, 2013
In access report, I'm trying to change color of text in specific records based on the true/false value in another record. Works in forms using conditional formatting, but won't seem to work in a report.
Here's what works in forms : IIf([2009 Symposium]=true, forecolor=255 ....this changes the records to red.
But using the same expression in a report doesn't change the text color.

I would like to change the Font and background color based on dates.
-I have a text box (Training Event) on a form populated from a field (Training Dates) in a query.
- I need the font and/or the background in that text box to change to red when the date is 12 month past, yellow 11 months past, white 10 months past and green for 9 months past.

In a form, the value of any field may determine if the other field will be true or false. For example in my form, inventory, if value in code is equal to 2 then the Field Table will be automatically false.

On my form ECOs
When my text box RELNUM is > 0 I want form properties AllowEdits set to FALSE.
When RELNUM is null I want form properties AllowEdits set to TRUE.
This must be possible, but not entirely sure where to start.
Since I can scroll through records in this form I'm thinking I have to put an event in ON LOAD, bbut beyond that I'm at a lost.

I am attempting to adjust the font color of a date field on a report based on the value of two other fields. I have the below code set in the "On Format" property of my detail section - however it does not work when I open the report to view.
Private Sub Detail_Format(Cancel As Integer, FormatCount As Integer)
If Me.Frequency = "Annually" Then
If Me.ClassDate < (DateAdd("yyyy", -1, Date)) Then
Me.ClassDate.ForeColor = vbRed
Me.ClassDate.FontBold
End If
End If
End Sub

All I want to do is change the font color and weight of a couple of columns in a form. No conditions or change when button is pressed or anything like that. Just be blue and stay blue.
I've tried making it a memo, rich-text field and it didn't work.
It works fine in the "member details" form, but not the "member list" form.

My list box will be used to populate a form, is it possible that once the item is dble-clicked, it reverts to a different color to let the user know it has already been selected once or can the row be locked once it has been selected?

I would like to be able to change font color and appearance while entering data into a form (example: italicize a word). Is there any way to activate the font format while in a form?

I know you can use a "Conditional format" to change a color of a control in a report. What I am trying to do is change the whole line if a condition yields "True" of one control. I did it once before, but oops I didn't save my work. I am using the format [Entity]![IT]. Where "Entity" is either the department or vendor, and "IT" is for the IT department. I want the control "Name" to change color if "Entity" is true if "IT" is the data.

We have a navigation page with 5 tabs and several navigation buttons underneath their respective tabs linking to reports.
In the main part of the navigation page we have 17 search parameters (text boxes and combo boxes)that the user can use to sort through all the reports we have in the different tabs.
What we would like to do is to have the label text to change to "red" if one of the 17 fields are "required", remain "black" if it is included in the report but not a mandatory search parameter, or turn "light grey" if that parameter is not included in that report.
For example:
My search parameters are: people, phone, and cars
If I were looking at a report of people that included addresses, phones, etc...name and phone would be required search parameters. However, even though I can search by car, it is not in this particular report and the label text should be greyed out. (If the actual text box could go inactive that would be even better).
I have read about buttons being turned colors based on a drop down box choice, but I have not been able to find anything about using a navigation tab subform button to make the colors change in the main navigation form.

I'm trying to limit the records on a subform via an option group selection. The group has 2 options: optionTrue (option value = 1) and optionFalse (optio value = 2). I have the following code in my query criteria of the true/false field.
IIf([Forms]![FrmHome]![frameProcessed]=1,-1,0)
The false part works, but the true part doesn't. I've tried many variations using true/false, using checkboxes, etc. and nothing works.
The database is SQL Server if that matters.
Any suggestions?
Also, is their a way to have an option for True or False or ALL?
Thanks,
Sup

I am trying to create a query pulling from several tables. I will use the example below to illustrate what I'd like to do.
I have a field called 'Acc_Num', one called 'Stat_Code', and a third called 'Cat_Code'.
Each 'Acc_Num' can have multiple records because there are multiple Stat_Code and Cat_Code values.
What I want to do is isolate just the Acc_Num records where Stat_Code = 1 and Cat_Code equals A1.
I also want to isolate the Acc_num records where the Stat_code = 1 and where Cat_code does not exist.

I would like to change the background color of a field that is the result of a Unique Values query. I am trying to get a list of invoices where all the line items are approved. I can't seem to get it to work the way I want because if even one invoice line item is approved it will show up as approved.
Is there a way to change the background color of the invoice field to red if ANY of the Approved line items are = False

I have a report which I would like to change the text of a field blue if a certain condition is met. What I want to happen on this report is if a specific field has an "Active" - then it will be in Blue text, otherwise it is in black text.
I have gone into the report ->in the Details section -> put a procedure in the On Format event. The code I have been trying is:
-----
If Analysis_Status = Active Then
Me.Analysis_Status.ForeColor = vbBlue
Else
Me.Analysis_Status.ForeColor = vbBlack
End If
End Sub

I have created my tables and form and am now trying to run reports to organize the data. I have figured out how to group the individuals by group and treatment, but can't figure out how exclude individuals from the final list if they are already in another. As background, some of the individuals are eventually excluded from the experiment, though I keep the initial data. When the exclude individual checkbox is checked ("True" on the report) I do not want the individual to be listed in the "False" list, even though there are entries for that individual when that checkbox wasn't checked (when it was "True"). This is so I can get an idea of the current totals in each group.
Implant Period
>Treatment
>>Exclude individual?
>>>Individual ID
I feel like this should be a fairly simple task, but I cannot figure it out... Maybe there is coding to exclude individuals from the "False" list if they are already listed in the "True" list?

Is it possible to conditionally change a font name? Report field is set for Wingdings 2 so I can print a check mark if underlying value is true. Wanting to change back to calibri to print "X" if not true. Haven't been able change it in an if statement. A macro setvalue fieldname.fontname to "calibri" throws type mismatch error. Setproperty choices don't include fontname.

I have a report that I would like to have the rows be a specific color based on the value in 1 field on the row.
I have attempted to use conditional formatting but it will not work (IE, I can get font color to change, but not field boxes to have color).
The field is labeled [text144] based on the value in the field (1,2, or 3) I would like the field to be a different color.
i.e.
3 = green
2 = yellow
1 = red

I am experiencing a problem in MS Access 2013. I have a form which was working just fine until now. It has form labels in Calibri font and their font colour is one shade lighter than black. Today, I changed the font colour of the form labels to be Automatic - black (shows as 'Text 1' colour in the form properties). I did this in Design view.
I find that when I switch to layout view, the font of the labels appears as Century Gothic. This is the font that appears in the Form view. So while the font colour is correctly changed, the font name is not what I had set in the Design view. When I go back to the Design view, and change the font colour back to the original colour which was one shade lighter than black (Text 1, Lighter 50%), the font is correct in the Layout view and the Form view (Calibri).
So it seems that there is some sort of binding between the font colour (black) and the font name (Century Gothic). When I change the font colour, the font also changes. When I restore the original colour (one shade lighter than black), the font Calibri is correctly retained.

I have a report that is looking up min and max quality specifications for a product. The table with the specifications has a Yes/No check box field for when the specs are defined as "Internal". So the table looks like Product/MinValue/MaxValue/Internal
I want the report to display "TEST AND RECORD" when the Internal box is checked where the MinValue and MaxValue (that are stored in the table) would be displayed otherwise.

What I'm trying to do is make it so that a certain area of my Detail area in my report changes colors based on whether or not a field name for each record is set to "Yes". The effect I wanted was produced easily enough by creating a Rectangle, coloring it Red, and setting it to not visible.
Putting RedBox.Visible = True in the Report On Load procedure works just fine. The problem I am having is attaching a condition to it.
Code:
If Me.FormatBox.Value = "Yes" Then
RedBox.Visible = True
End If
This compiles ok, but doesnt do anything to the actual report. Will it not work because the report has x amount of FormatBox's because it gets replicated for each record that is displayed? I should also note that I tried using a DL Lookup within my If statement and that didnt work either. That just colors all the boxes red and ignores the check.
Code:
Dim TestVar As String
TestVar = DLookup("Priority", "Table_Lancaster_Dispatch", "Priority = 'Yes'")
If TestVar = "Yes" Then
RedBox.Visible = True
End If

In MsAccess 2007,I want each row color to change based on a column value in the report.
For example: Select Name,Age,Salary from table 1 -creates 3 rows.
Name Age Salary
A 15 1000
B 25 2000
c 35 3000
if Salary column is less than 1001,row should be in red- Row 1
if Salary column is less than 2001,row should be in green -Row2
if salary is less than 3001, row should be orange-Row3 .
How to do conditional color formatting of the entire row in Msaccess2007 based on a column value of each row.

I have a query that shows banned users (I work in a school). When a student's ban has ended, a tick box is checked in a form linked to tblBannedUsers to show they are no longer banned.
The query itself simply queries all records in tblBannedUsers with a username field (UserID) taking search criteria from a box on a form.
However, I want to filter out the students that are no longer banned (those with a tick in the checkbox). To do this, I thought it would be a simple case of editing the query, and in the Ban Lifted field criteria, use =False to say I only want those records with a tick.
This doesn't work and I still get all records given the combo box filter (which are just filtering for a username...if I leave it blank it gives all records via Is Null).
What should I be putting in the criteria to filter out those records with a ticked checkbox?
Thanks,
Steve Swallow
EDIT: I've just done a test query and <B>No</B> is the criteria to use, but when I use this criteria in my query which also take data from a form's combo box it ignore the <B>No</No> criteria.

Is it possible to filter a forms records by using a boolean True/False field.
I want to show all current records for option 1, Expired records for option 2, and all records for option 3. The form is based on 'tblMembers' which has a field [Expired] which is a boolean yes/no field formatted to true/false.

There are around 100,000 records to update. Would a SQL Statement be more efficient?
It is a local table being used to sum up the results of a handful of rules.
The columns can only hold True or False (datatype)
If and only if all columns are True - then true
MyRow T T T T T T T T T T - Sum in next column is T
MyRow T T T T T T F T T T - Sum in next column is F
Speed is very important. The Recordset for a single row is still open on the Currrent Record since the Update just finished.
Code:
RS_RE_1SegStatusProfiled.Fields("Total") = (RS_RE_1SegStatusProfiled.Fields("RE_1") AND CStr(RS_RE_1SegStatusProfiled.Fields("RE_2") AND (RS_RE_1SegStatusProfiled.Fields("RE_3") ' and so on
My guess is that since the recordset is open to the current record on a local table, it will be efficient to just re-read all of the values and And them together.
Since I have code writing to each record, I could also go through all the extra assignment of a local variable.
