Reports :: Getting Blank Lines If No Detail Records

Feb 26, 2014

I am creating a report that is organized by project. The detail lines are to list payments applied to the project. How can I skip the detail section (or print a single blank line) if there are no payments in the separate payment table that match the project ID? Is there a way to tell that there were no matching payments and format accordingly? I currently get multiple blank lines.

Reports :: Adding Specific Number Of Blank Lines Between Records

Jun 20, 2013

I have a WO Table and a related WO Procedures Table. I would like to add a specific # of blank lines/records between each record but that # will vary. So the report will show the WO Procedure Desc then a specified # of blank lines below it and then the next WO Procedures Desc then a specified # of blank lines below it etc.

I thought to add a field to the Proc tbl called #ofLines and whatever number was entered would be the # of blank lines to appear below the record on the report.

Reports :: Stop Subtotal From Adding Detail Lines

May 16, 2014

How to keep Access from including the detail line items in my report total?

Below is a quick image of part of the report.

The report is compiled from two tables. The first table has detail information on each line, in four columns:

State Name Amount Quantity (Not used)

AL Store 1 313.94 60
AL Store 2 12.59 1
AZ Store 3 576.45 90
CO Store 4 172.22 24
CO Store 5 502.25 88

The 2nd table is a summary by state with three columns:

State Amount Quantity (Not used)
AL 326.53 61
AZ 576.45 90
CO 674.47 112

I'm trying to make the report group by state, then name, amount and a subtotal for each state. This all works fine in the report.

I want to also add the amount field from the 2nd table (State Subtotals) to the report just for reference. I've managed to make this work as well. (See State Total on image)

The problem that I'm having is that when I try to do a final total of the State Total column in the report footer, it seems to add the (State Subtotals) amount field on every detail line (See red numbers in picture. they are not actually on the report, but Access thinks they are and includes them in the final total).

So far I've tried different joins, hiding various fields, sub reports, ect. I just can't figure out how to stop Access from calculating the detail lines.

Reports :: Inserting Blank Lines To Access Report

Jul 27, 2013

I have a specific form, paper version, that I'd like to reproduce in an Access report. This form, which has 34 blank lines in the paper version, is used when people need to borrow some Tools or Equipment on a short period of time.

My report is made up in Access, but, if a person signs for, lets say, three different piece of Equipment, once it is sent to the printer, it prints three lines, which are the equipement signed for and it leave a big empty space before it reach the page footer.

What I need is something that will fill that empty space with blank lines. I found the following on the Net which meets my needs up to a point. What I mean is once it print the last line, it keeps on printing the last line until it meets the total count of 34 lines.

Here what I found on the Net: (note that I have a =count(*) into the Group Header)

Option Compare Database 'Use database order for string comparisons
Option Explicit
Global TotCount As Integer
' Call the SetCount() function from the group header section's
' OnPrint property using the syntax: =SetCount(Report)

[Code] ....

I submitted an attach file (blank_lines.gif) to show you what I end up with.

Reports :: Sebreport Detail Repeats Records?

How do I fix this?

Reports :: Showing All Detail Records If One Record In Query Meets Criteria

Mar 5, 2013

I am trying to create a report which basically includes the following:

Company, Wages, Contribution.

Each company reports wages for each employee every month. Then they also contribute to a general fund based on a percentage of the wages. For instance:

Company---Employee---Wages---Contribution
CompanyA---EmployeeA---$4000---$40
CompanyA---EmployeeB---$3800---$38
CompanyA---EmployeeC---$3800---$38
CompanyB---EmployeeA---$4200---$42
CompanyB---EmployeeB---$4200---$42

...and so on.

Each employee is required to contribute, in this example, 1% of gross wages to the general fund.

On occasion, the company does not pay in the required 1% of gross, say, for CompanyA EmployeeA, they only paid in $35.

Here is what I need to do. If any contribution amount for any employee is incorrect, I want to display all the records for that company, not just the incorrect ones. The report is grouped by Company, and may contain dozens of companies.

I am already passing a number of criteria to the report using a filter, including the date range and other fields which are informational.

Reports :: Show Detail - Using Section Header As Hyperlink To Show / Hide Detail

Aug 13, 2013

I'm trying to create a report where I can use a section header as a hyperlink to show/hide detail, but only for that section. For example, my customer names are:

Code:
ABC Co.
ZYX Co.
123 Co.

If I click on ZYX Co., I want it to show the contracts for ONLY that customer:

Code:
ABC Co.
ZYX Co.
Contract 1
Contract 2
123 Co.

Right now, my code looks like this for On_Click:

Code:
If Me.Detail.Visible = False Then
Me.Detail.Visible = True
Else
Me.Detail.Visible = False
End If

But it shows and hides detail for ALL customers when I do this. Is there a way to only show/hide for the customer on which I click?

Detail Area Blank

Jul 11, 2005

I am a novice to Access so bear with me please. I've just created a form to populate some tables.

When I switch from design view to form view, the detail area in the form view is blank.

The header is fine but fields, which are present in design view are not present in form view.

Any suggestions, I've tried font/background colors and searching for a switch setting.

Thanks in advance,

JA

Blank Lines

Aug 17, 2004

I am working with an access table populated from an excel spreadsheet due to its source if a person has more than one line of data the fileds are left blank.

Example:

ID Name Date diagnosis

01 Smith, David 07/01/2004 sore throat

02 Strep Throat

03 Broken arm

For Smith, David he had 3 diagnosis but the field date and name are blank as they would have been the same as ID 01. I have written a query to populate the blank fields:

IIF([name] is null, dlookup("[name]", "tblDiagnosisUnder16final","[Id]=" & [id]-1),[name]) This works great for lines with only one blank, but in the above example for ID 03 the name field stays blank as it is looking at field 02 which is blank in the table.

What I need is a loop to keep moving up the table until it finds a field that <> Null. I assum I should write a function and palce it in the if statement above where the -1 is but I am strugling with comming up with a solution.

Any help would be appreciated.

Reports :: Page Header - Don't Display If No Detail Records - On Last Page

Jun 13, 2015

If I have a report and it has controls (labels representing column titles) in the page header. Now when I print the report - if it happens that the last page has no detail records - but there is text boxes and so forth in the report footer. Is there a way to not display the page header on the last page?

I have a report where the last page shows the page header - and the field/column labels on the page header - but for which there is no detail records left to display - on the last page. There is report footer information that should display. It just looks weird because the field/column labels show at the top of the page - but there is no data remaining to print under them on that last page.

Section Header At Bottom Of Page And Detail Lines On Next Page

Nov 22, 2004

I have a report that lists states and cities within the states. When a state name happens to be at the end of the page the individual cities appear on the next page with no State heading. I solved the second page problem by setting the "repeatSection = Yes" in the Section Header (though I haven't shown that in the example below).

But the previous page (which just shows the State Name and no cities looks dumb. Is there some sort of solution.??
(Actually I would also like any State that continues to a next page to not just have the state name but something like
" Colorado (Continued)" Is there anything I can do in VB to make a page break if the section is going to print but therer isn't enough room for one detail line?

This is what I currently see

Alaska
Ancorage
Prudo Bay

California
Whittier
Anaheim

Colorado
------------------------Page Break ---------------------------------
Denver
Pueblo
Colorado Springs

Deleware
Dover

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks !

Blank Address Lines In Mailmerge

Dec 27, 2007

I am trying to generate letters from ACC2003 db into Word2003. Reason for Word is so client can edit letters if required.
I have set up a maketable query to generate a temporary table in the Db and the mailmerge master document all formatted and pointed at the temporary table. I still need to get the automation running so that the letters merge and print on a command button.
My immediate issue is that the address lines are intentionally spread across 5 fields Addr1, Addr2, Addr3, Town, Postcode. Not all fields in every record are full, and with the query it would be impossible to eliminate fields on the chance they might be empty.
As a result my mailmerge has blank address lines which do not look professional.
Can anyone point me to how I might solve this given my proposed use - if it was a report then I have a little code module that neatly eliminates blank lines but I cannot see how I could integrate this into the mailmerge process.
Thanks for any help or pointers

Entire Report Blank When No Detail Data Exists

Nov 16, 2004

I have a report that prints invoices, and in the page header area it contains most of the invoice information such as labor cost, customer info, etc. In the detail section of the report i have the line items, and a line contains a part, vehicle charge, etc. Some invoices dont have any line items though, and it seems that when there are no lines(ie. nothing in the 'detail' section), the header information will not appear either. Any ideas on how i can fix this?

I have a report that is derived from a table (tblDocs) the structure of the table is:

EmpId docType docDate comments

This table will have several entries for each employee. There will only be a few times that a comment will be entered. On my report, I will have a field for the comments and I would like ALL of the comments for each employee combined into one text box in the report There will be blank entries in most of the records). I think the control source for this might be a query, but not sure. I set the properties of the text box to can grow.

Reports :: Print Out Single Page Reports (or Forms) To Show Detail From Several Tables And Queries

Apr 21, 2014

I have a database of high-school football players, and I am looking to print out single page reports (or forms) that will show detail from several tables and queries. This will act as their resume when they visit schools on recruiting visits. The reason for needing query items, is that I have developed queries that return the most up to date height, weight, 40 time etc., and that single most up to date number is what should print, not the entire table. When I try to build a report it will let me bring in multiple tables, but not queries.

Queries :: Date Range Query - Return Lines Where Field Is Blank In Table

Aug 15, 2013

I have a single table with customer information, one of the fields is a date field "LastContacted".

I'm creating a search form with 2 date fields (txtDate1 & txtDate2) to search a date range of the LastContacted field, and I need to write this into the query that the search form uses.

I have written this using Nz so that it can still return results if the search boxes are left blank:

Between Nz([Forms]![frm_AdvancedSearch]![txtDate1],#01/01/1989#) And Nz([Forms]![frm_AdvancedSearch]![txtDate2],#01/01/2999#)

This seems to work and it returns lines from the table where there is a date entered. However some of the fields in the table have no entry in the LastContacted field. How to code this query so that it also returns lines where the LastContacted field is blank in the table?

I have tried:

like "*" & (Between Nz([Forms]![frm_AdvancedSearch]![txtDate1],#01/01/1989#) And Nz([Forms]![frm_AdvancedSearch]![txtDate2],#01/01/2999#)) & "*"

but this returns errors when I try to run it.

I'm using Access 2010.

My report has an empty Page Header, a Group Header, Detail, and an empty Page Footer.

Queries :: Pulling Records Based On Blank / Non-blank Criteria

Jul 18, 2013

I have a couple different reference files that get updated each week. Sometimes there are missing data elements, so I'd like to structure a select query to show me those records that have blank elements but I'd like the similar records to be pulled in as well, so I can make a determination as to how to populate the blank records..

See attached example: I have a client ID reference table that gets populated with forecast owner names (individuals responsible for the customer) from a couple of different sources. Sometimes there are names attached and sometimes the field is blank.

How can I structure a query to show me just those Client ID's that have multiple entries with blank AND non-blank forecast owners? I'd also like to exclude single/multiple records where there are only blank records...

Reports :: Detail Section Randomly Highlighted

May 18, 2015

when i generate a report i intermittently get a page that has the detail section highlighted. The report generates an invoice for each customer selected, a new page for each invoice with a repeating header on each page. I have used the vba to some of the formatting on the page. Usually there are between 20-40 pages generated with each report, or there is an option to print just one invoice. I get the highlight on 1 page on some set of invoices, and other everything works fine.

I can not for the life of me figure out what variables are causing the detail section to be highlighted. Does not repeat on a specific customer, place in the report, or any specific that i can tell. What settings/variables/triggers/events would cause the detail section to become highlighted blue.

Right now i can generate the report, see a blue page(usually after its printed), and the regenerate it and its not there or on a different page. The invoices uploaded are for the same person generated right after each other..

Reports :: Highlight Only Last Row Of Detail Section In A Report?

I tried the following code in the "Format" but could not get it to work in Access 2010.

If Me.ClaimStatuses = "Total Potential Recoverable" Then
Me.Section(acDetail).BackColor = vbYellow
Else
Me.Section(acDetail).BackColor = vbWhite

Where "ClaimStatuses" is the control text box and "Total Potential Recoverable" is the value I want to equal so this row which is the last row will be yellow.

Query Criteria With Blank And Non-blank Text Records

Mar 13, 2007

OK, I have been searching around on the fourm for over an hour now...I give up. If this is some where else, I am sorry.

I have a database of maintenance data. There are several columns that are usually filled in, some records have some columns blank. They are formated text because they hold letters and numbers (see pic).

I am using a form to query the table...no problem. The form has text boxes the user filter down the data

The problem comes are with the results of the query. Any record that has a blank column is not retuned. I am using "Like" so that the user can enter in partial codes. I know "like" won't return "null" records.... Help!

Things I have tried:
1)IIF(form field is blank, return table field, else use like command to filter) - returns nothing!
2)Like "*" & [Forms]![Fleetwide_data_Request]![MAL_CD] & "*" returns all records without blanks (i.e. missing data)

what else can I do?

Thanks

How Do You Fill A Reports Detail Section Dynamically In Access2000

Feb 12, 2008

Hi,

I want a user to click the report, and an input box appears asking for a product number. This product number is used in a recordset (VBA code in the report) to fill the text boxes in the Detail section.

Code:Private Sub Report_Open(Cancel As Integer)Dim rst As DAO.RecordsetDim db As DAO.DatabaseDim itemCode As StringSet db = CurrentDb()itemCode = InputBox("Enter the Item Number", "Complete Catlog Prices")Set rst = CurrentDb.OpenRecordset("SELECT * FROM [Catalog Prices Complete] WHERE Prefixprodno = '" & itemCode & "'", dbOpenDynaset)Do Until rst.EOF Me!txtCat = rst("Volume") 'error 02448 cannot assign to this 'Me!txtPrice = rst("Price") rst.MoveNextLooprst.CloseEnd Sub

I'm sure my text box is called txtCat though. Is it an array I should try to fill? If so, any suggestions :S

Thanks,

Reports :: Variable Row Height In Report Detail Section

Apr 16, 2013

In the detail section of my report, I recently added a second row which has only 1 text field. When the value of the textbox in the 2nd row is null, I want the total row height equal to just the first row. When the value in the textbox in the 2nd row is not null, then the total row height is equal to row 1 and 2. I tried to make the textbox in the second row invisible when it had a null value thinking that when it was null, the report would shrink to the first row height, but that didn't seem to work.
