I have set up a text boxes to take in the Y axis min, max and interval values so the user can customize the graph according tot he range coming out of the query. This all works fine and is perfect, however, i also need a report and set up a report with the same graph which can be printed to pdf, however, i cant get the y-axis to adjust like i do with the one on the form,

Y Axis Scale On XY Scatter Chart

Jan 15, 2013

I've cannibalized a chart from another database, hooked it up to my new data source and solved most of my formatting problems except for one, the Y axis of the chart won't display the scale properly. The minimum is set at - 3 and maximum is set at +3, but when the report opens the scale reads from -0.003 to +0.003. I've tried all the number formats I can think of. Currently it is set to General. If I set it to a number with anything less than 3 decimal places it formats as 0 or 0.00.

Graph (2 Fields From Query On X And Y-axis)

Jul 26, 2005

Hi!

I have this table from a query:

1 1,34
2 1,23
3 1,21
1 0,65
2 0,55
3 ...
1
2
3
1

And I want 1,2,3 at the Y-axis and the X-axis to be the other values (1,34...)

But I only get a graph that shows 1,2,3 at Y but only the value 1 at the X-axis and the 1,34-values as legends! Why?

Forms :: Format Graph Axis To Percentage

Oct 15, 2014

How can I change with VBA the Y axis of a graph to percentage?

sqlstr = simple sql giving with date, value

Graph47.RowSource = sqlstr

I can give the axes min/maximumscales

.Axes(2, 1).MinimumScale = frm_MinscaleY

set the colors and weights
.seriescollection(1).Border.Color = graphcolor
.seriescollection(1).Border.Weight = Lineweight
.seriescollection(1).MarkerSize = MarkerWeight
.seriescollection(1).MarkerBackgroundColor = graphcolor

But everything I try to set the axis to percentage does not work... No failure message, but nothing happens. I have tried multiple things:

.seriescollection(1).datalabels.numberformat = "0,0%"
.seriescollection(1).datalabels.numberformat = "#,#%"
.seriescollection(1).numberformat = "percentage"
.seriescollection(1).numberformat = "0,0%"
.SeriesCollection(1).tickLabels.NumberFormat = "%"
and a lot more....

Reports :: Graph In A Report

I currently have a form from which users can select their name and it will open a report listing events they have attended. It does this through a macro running a filter. What I would like to happen is the same criteria that is being used to filter the report be used as criteria for a different (unfortunately) query that can then generate a graph in the report as well.how to get the criteria into the second query for the graph.

The form has year, start week, and end week on it. I can get the query to work fine. When I try to open the report, Access says it doesn't recognize the " [Forms]![frmUptimeFilter]![StartWeek] " as a valid field name or expression.

The issue i am having when the user enter the information, the report does not show any data until i refresh it. I tried include me.refresh,etc. No luck. I attached the code to make things simpler.

The reports comes up, but i have to manually refresh it to show the data that was enter.

Updating X-axis Labels In A Chart On A Report

Jan 14, 2013

I have data in a chart over four groups that are just labeled A, B, C and D in the underlying data. The table wants to label the x-axis of the chart SumOfA, SumOfB, SumOfC, and SumOfD. Ideally I would like to drive these labels by text boxes on a form, but I can't even figure out how to change them manually. I got to the data table in the chart designer and changed them there, and they'd show as changed in design view, but then they weren't changed in report view.

Reports :: Time Based Graph

May 30, 2015

I have the following query:

TRANSFORM Count([Copy of qryDailyCountOfValidations].Staff_Number) AS CountOfStaff_Number
SELECT [Copy of qryDailyCountOfValidations].PatternStartDate, [Copy of qryDailyCountOfValidations].[End Time]
FROM [Copy of qryDailyCountOfValidations]
GROUP BY [Copy of qryDailyCountOfValidations].PatternStartDate, [Copy of qryDailyCountOfValidations].[End Time]
PIVOT Format([Start Time],"Short Time");

it shows the number of employees that start a shift at a particular time and the time the shift ends, on any day. What i need to show on a graph is the count number of employees starting at x time and plotting the number of hours the employees are on shift until they leave or another employee starts....

-the y axis is the count of employees
-the x axis is the start time of their shift

10
9
8
7 xxxxxxxx
6 x x
5 x x
4 xxxxxxxx x
3 xxxxxxx x
2 xxxxxxxxxx
1
0
00:00 03:15 05:30.........................23:59

So the above mock up says 3 employees start at 00:00 and continue until 03:15 then another employee starts, then 4 employees continue 06:00, then 3 more employees start, 7 all together, then 5 employees leave later etc...

-the level of detail needed is to plot for every 15 minutes.
-The [end time] is not strictly needed, just included to show what columns i have available

achieving this on a graph on an access 2010 report..i have updated a test database so you can see what the data looks like.

Reports :: Hide Graph If There Is No Data

When I run the report on a Monday, only the Monday graph displays data and the other graphs are blank as there is no data for that day just yet. Is it possible to hide these graphs if there is no data? I did find one suggestion to create a text box with the following code

Code:

Reports :: Graph Not Updating With Each New Group?

Jun 17, 2013

I currently have a report that generates information based upon a query. The report is broken down into 3 subgroups (Temperature --> Vzip --> VDD). The information within each subgroup seems to be correct as the report cascades through each grouping, however the graph does not update with the new information and instead just copies a clone of itself throughout each Temperature group in the report.

That being said, the first graph that is generated is correct for that group (Temp: -55)... but the report simply copies that graph into the next temperature categories.

I've attached a .pdf of a report generated to visually show what I am referring to, ** notice it replicates the same graph for each group **

HELP With Graph On Report

Jun 28, 2006

I am trying to change the fill colors on a bar graph based on the value the bar graph has.

the bar graph gives the percentages of tasks and I would like to have it so that the fill color of a bar is based on the a set of values for the percentage... so if the percentage of task A is between 0 and 25% it should be red, if percentage of task A is between 25% and 50% it should be yellow, and if the percentage of task A is between 50% and 100% it should be green.

this is the query that the graph is based off of
Code:SELECT TEST_RawData.DeliverableDesc, FormatPercent(Avg(PercentComplete)) AS CurrentProgressFROM TEST_RawDataGROUP BY TEST_RawData.DeliverableDesc;

This is the data table of the graph
DeliverableDesc | CurrentProgress
test 1 | 82.64%
test 2 | 55.75%
test 3 | 30.09%
test 4 | 13.00%

now I have looked at this http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=200527 and tried to remodel it to my situation but have some concerns. This is what I have so far
vba Code: Original - vba Code Private Sub Report_Open(Cancel As Integer) Dim chtObj As Object, strRowSource As String Dim rsRowSourceFiltered As Recordset Dim i As Integer, j As Integer Dim strArrTaskPercents() As String Dim intArrTaskColors() As Integer ' The color integers are those that are used by the QBColor function to assign point colors. these are my concerns
- first is the strucutre and syntax for the above Sub Report_Open good?
-second how do I match percents the query is outputting to the table to the percents I write in the strArrTaskPercents array
-third how would I change how it matches percents so that it matches a range of percentages, like the first example if something is between 50% and 100% it should be green.

if anyone can directly help with the code, or indirectly point me to some examples, articles, etc. that might help me it would be greatly appreciated.

Reports :: Graph Based On Select Record

Mar 2, 2013

I have a select query that displays ALL [names] their [values] and the [date] when it was recorded.

Several [names] have multiple records and thus multiple [values]

I have a report based off this query. the report takes this data and graphs it.

The problem:as the database grows in records [names] the graph becomes crowded.

I would like to have a form for the user where they select from a dropdown list which record [names] they want to graph.

This will cause the query to only display records from the dropdown list.

This will cause the report to only graph a desired record.

I dont know how to make a query look for records based off of a select record in a dropdown list.

General :: Scaling Of Decimal Value Resulted In Truncation?

Mar 22, 2013

I'm using Access 2003 to create some reports for an insurance company I work for by interrogating the Informix database of our policy maintenance software via an ODBC connection. The linked tables and the fields included within cannot be edited due to permission restrictions (the software is provided by a third party) but this doesn't usually cause issues.

However, I've recently created a Query that extracts a *number* field from one of our database tables, but I'm having trouble due to the 'Scale' attributed to this field in the Access table settings.

Access recognizes that the field is a 'Decimal' type, but attributes a 'scale' of '0' which causes an error. 'Scale' (for those who aren't aware) refers to the maximum number of digits that can appear to the right of a decimal separator, meaning whenever this value exceeds 0 (e.g. if an advisor enters something like 240.51 - a 'Scale' of '2'), the 'Scaling of decimal value resulted in truncation' error occurs.

As mentioned earlier, we don't have the ability to amend the Scale attributed to this value due to permission restrictions, although I'm told that 'Scale' is set in Access and not on the external database anyway.

how to bypass this issue? I can't reformat the field as Access attributes the Scale upon the initial linking of the table, long before the field is used in any queries. Permission restrictions also prevent me from amending the 'Scale' value in the linked table settings.

The software house themselves can't assist as they've set this value to hold multiple decimals on the actual database. It's as if Access only checks a small proportion of the fields held in the table (the first few hundred of this particular field are whole numbers) and attributes the scale based on this.

Large Scale Corruption!

Jul 12, 2005

Hi all, apologies for the long post but this is a long nightmare!

Using A2k on Win2k...Due to roll out a DB today, just made my final tweaks and decided to compact/backup as have done many times before. It's not a split DB but it is secure so I copied the mdw onto my desktop and accessed it using a special compact shortcut which points to the desktop copy DB not the one on the network. When I compacted though Access went about it's business for a while and then threw up the dreaded "Network connection may be Lost" error message (roughly translates as "your database is nicely corrupt now") which I have had in the past when I tried to compact on the network. I've never had this error before compacting locally but anyway I tried again and same error message. I tried opening some forms and stuff and sure enought the DB was corrupt. No probs I thought, I can just go back to the original and start the process again. I used the normal shorcut to open the original DB just to check everything was ok and the same error message appeared with same problems. Minor panic ensued and I thought i'd got the shortcuts mixed up or something... I hadn't, Both DB's were affected.

Next option. Create a new DB and import all the objects. I did that and re-set all the permissions and the "Network Connection Lost" message dissapeared but some really strange things were happening. Forms opened but the buttons on them would do nothing. Then the forms Close button didn't work and the database wouldn't close.

I forced my way out of the DB and re-started my machine. Couldn't even log in to windows. Now at another machine and can log in to windows but DB is still having same problems. My instict tells me that the problem is something to do with the workgroup file becuase how else could compacting a copy corrupt the original? The only common link is the mdw.

Should I re-create the mdw and then try opening/importing the DB objects again? Or is there any way I can un-secure the DB and then re-secure it later?

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Thanks, Tom

Pivotchart With Series On Different Scale Axes

Jan 18, 2007

Hello all. My client has decided they like the pivotchart format better than the regular chart format, especially for its dynamic quality ( it can expand and contract with form adjustments.

One chart I am having trouble replicating in pivotchart format is one that plots two data series. One series is made of columns representing large numbers, generally several hundred or thousand, and the other data series needs to be a line which usually ranges between 0-10.

Obviously they cannot be represented on a y-axis with the same scale. This is simple to handle in MS Chart.

Is there a way to make a pivotchart with a dual-scaled y-axis, and map a data series to each one?

Thanks in advance.
