Reports :: Hidden Count Box For Dividing A Set Of Values
Aug 11, 2015
I am trying to get my report to divided numbers that are there. I get this data from subreports, then want it divided by the appropriate number. Example:
23
0
10
15
0
0
this would equal 48, but I want it to be divided by 3, not by 6. Or say the next report would have:
10
10
5
0
10
10
which would equal 45 and this would be divided by 5, not by 6.I was wondering is there a way by creating a hidden box that would check each value to see what it would be divided by. Example: iff(report.hasdata, control +=1)

In Access 2003 I have a form, at the footer of which I want to put some summary information. One of which is a count of the number of purchases over £500. I have tried many variations after searching the posts on this site but the only one which does not return me an error of some kind with the expression is
=IIf([Bought For]>"500",Count([Bought For]),0)
where 'Bought For is the reports listing of the purchase prices in a given date range when opening the report, but the value returned in my test is '0' when it should be '2' as the test file has two purchases of over £500.

I have a report based on a query.
I have this grouped by a jobid.
For each field on the report I have hide duplicates set to yes. for each job id most of the line should be hidden except for a couple of fields (part used and description).
This works in 99% of cases but I occasionally I get the whole line repeated
I've treble checked that the fields are duplicates (they are) and am at a loss what to look for.

I am trying to discover the code that is asking for a phantom query in Subreports. Each Subreports control source query works fine.
I have attached two zipped files
1. Database stripped to send

I have a large tabular report, 22" and 18 columns. In the report footer I have for each column a series of calculated fields, specific to that column. For example, one of my columns is NumberofCreditsEarned. The calculated fields at the bottom of it are min, max and avg. Another one is Gender, and the calculated fields at the bottom of that one count the males and females and give percentages of each.
I designed a basic form with 18 checkboxes, so users could select as many or as few columns as they want. My original idea was to use the checkboxes to show the desired columns (along with the calculations for those columns) and hide the rest.
The issue is that while the column may be hidden, the white space is not. If I can't find a way to get rid of it, my reporting tool won't be feasible to use. I've researched using "can grow" and "can shrink", but I dont think they'd work on a tabular report like this, where all of the controls are the same height and width, and on the same line.

I'm working on a database that produces employee contracts. To make it look as professional as possible I hide the Access main window when the splash screen loads using the ShowWindow function. The various forms to check and enter details all pop up without any problem, but when I get to the last stage where I use a report to produce the contract and then open it in PrintPreview mode, it won't display (unless I show the main window again , which looks very untidy!). Is it actually possible to display a report with the main Access window hidden?

I have to write a SQL statement which can divide Field1 and put the result sets in another field.In plain English I want to say, In Field1 if there is a Comma, put the letters between 2 commas, in field 2, If there is another comma put it in Field3
Field1 is an adress field and has values like 19 Stoney Gardens, Livingston, West Lothian
I want this address to be divided. I am new and am stuck now.
What is the best way to write a SQL query for this.
Many thanks

Hello,
I am trying to do a simple division. But I am getting an #Error when Access query tries to divide 0 by 0. Here is my example:
fldOne = 0
fldTwo = 0
fldCalc: IIf(([fldOne]/[fldTwo])=0,0,([fldOne]/[fldTwo]))
result = #Error
However:
fldCalc: IIf(([fldOne]+[fldTwo])=0,0,([fldOne]/[fldTwo]))
result = 0
If I change the IIF to [0]+[0] (plus) then it works. So I think I am trying to find out how to divide two fields that both contain zeros? (...I think!)
Any help appreciated!

Not sure whether this would be easier in a query than in VBA.. but I'm new to this:9
I've got a guest list for a big party, and one of the fields "Arrival" is a DATE/TIME field where it says when the guest entered the premises.
What I want for reporting purposes is to divide guests into nine "arrivalgroups", a number field I've added to the table in casu.
The groups look like:
117-18(or <16:00 AND >=18:00)
218-19
319-20
etc. all the way up to 9, last group being 01:00-02:00
That is, if the guest arrived between 20 and 21, the table field "arrivalgroup" would be set to 4.
Any easy way to do this?

I have a form that I'm using as a subform as well as a subreport.
I would like to have dividing lines in the subform, but not the subreport.
Is there any way of doing this other than just creating a duplicate form with a different name?

I currently have a query that pulls selected data from a table. There can be multiple rows of data, and two columns include dollar amounts and quantities. I have a total line going at the bottom so I can see the Grant Total of all the rows (for dollar amounts and quantity).
Is it possible to add a column to this query that will calculate the expression:..?
=Grand Total of Dollar Amts for selected data/Grand Total of Quantity for selected data
I tried to use a query in a query, but must have done something wrong because it just said circular reference.

Hello,
I am using the following code to count records in a table:
Dim myCount
'Looks the data with criteria 1 in table
myCount= Nz(DCount("[Myfield]", "[mytable]", "[myfield]='1'"), 0)
'Returns sum in text box
Me.[txt1] = myCount
My table will also contain no records in the myfield. Is there a way I can count null values? Thanks.

I am trying to get calculated fields in my report to work but zero values in the data are throwing up #Div/0! and #Error! and #Num!
The main data fields I am trying to work with are:
VehicleReading
PreviousReading
VehicleLitres
My aim is to track mileage and consumption for a fleet of vehicles and show daily and weekly averages in mileage and consumption and then to flag 20% increase in consumption.
I have a calculated field in my report named Kilometers,
= [VehicleReading]-[PreviousReading]
and also a calculated field named Consumption,
=[Kilometers]/[VehicleLitres]
My sum and average calculation fields in the group footers are only working where there are values above zero in the Kilometer and VehicleLitres and Consumption fields.
In reality there are some days where there has been no travel, so some records will have a zero for the Kilometers field and there are also days when there has been no refueling so there is a zero for the VehicleLitres field.
I have tried using the expression builder to create an IIf function but to no avail.
I have tried copying the syntax suggested by the Expression builder:
«Expr» IIf («expr». «truepart». «falsepart»)
I know I need to get those zero's to fail in the calculation but as I said before all of the suggested expressions I have tried fail due to syntax!

Dear all,
I'm having problems with a count expression in a report. I have a series of items listed, with subdata against each one, in some cases this subdata is one rows, in others it is many rows.
Anyways, having listed these items and there subdata sets, I want a count of the number of items listed.
Unfortunately, a count on Equipment ID returns the total number of sub data items listed, as for each sub data item, the Equipment ID is associated. Is there a way of making the COUNT expression count exclusive values?
Thanks,
Stephen

Can anyone help?
I have few of these columns in my query
Loc Company Pack RoundedNum SumTotal
2 ASDA AA 1
2 ASDA AA 5 6
1 Asda AC 2 2
1 ABC BB 10
1 ABC BB 1 11
2 XYZ AR 1 1
I am trying to achieve "SumTotal" column result. In the above query RoundedNum is an expression achieved from other columns(not shown above) from the same querytable. Now I want to insert this "SumTotal" column which will count for Total RoundedNum as per same type of Packs.
Thus the Total Field should look like the one shown above. Any idea how can i achieve this? :confused:
Thank you in advance.

I have a form and subform. I need to -
1) show the number of records in the subform on the main form
2) count the number of records in the subform where a value [Public] is True
3) count the number of records in the subform where another value [Analyst] is True.
I can achieve the first two by using the following VBA on the Main form current event -
Quote:
Private Sub Form_Current()
Dim rst As DAO.Recordset
Dim lngCount As Long
[Code]....
when i try to get number 3 done I get the same value as for [Public] (using lngCount for both...not surprising really!)
how i can get a count done for [Analyst] = True in the same event?

I am using Access 2010 on a Windows 7 laptop. I need a query to provide a list of ID's that have more than one occurrence of IDandDate combined but haven't been successful getting past syntax errors.
Using this table structure as an example:
ID - defined as text field
Date - defined as date/time field
TestValue
This legacy table contains a record for each test. The table should be unique based on the ID and Date combination but was never restricted to that rule. I am converting to a new table but need to identify the duplicate entries so they can be addressed by business folks.
Access 2010 query.

I am currently using the below code to query values that have a unique "OverrideDescription" and where by the "Upload Date" is always the latest.
SELECT t1.*
FROM [DaisyServiceRates-Amended] AS t1 LEFT JOIN [DaisyServiceRates-Amended] AS t2 ON (t1.OverrideDescription = t2.OverrideDescription) AND (t1.[Upload Date] < t2.[Upload Date])
WHERE t2.OverrideDescription IS NULL;
However I also need to be able to do a unique count of the [OverrideDescription] field.
I have found methods whereby I can do use, but they all use a GROUP BY function, the issue being that when I use this method it prevents be from updating the values saying "recordset not updateable".
Any method that does not use the GROUP function. I did also try preforming the COUNT on a separate table and doing as JOIN, but this also prevented updates to the date.
