Reports :: How To Add Data In Unbound Text Box - Access 2003
Dec 2, 2014
For a text box in a Report, I am trying to use the "SumOf([UnboundTextBox])" as the Control Source in the Report Footer to add the unbound text box in the Details section. I know it works with a bound text box, but does it not work with an unbound text box?
I have 10 unbound textboxes with the Tag Name "LoopID" in my report. I have to display the "PatientNumbers" field from the table tblPatient in those text boxes. Below is my code.
When I run the report, I get the error message: Run-time error '2448.' You can't assign value to this object and the code "Ctl.Value = rst!LCANumber" is highlighted.
Private Sub Report_Current() Dim strSql As String Dim dbs As Database Dim rst As Recordset Dim x As Integer Dim Ctl As Control strSql = "Select PatientNumber from tblPatient"
I have an unbound text box in the detail section of a report that can be anywhere from a couple of lines to more than 90, depending on what items have been selected elsewhere. I've gotten the size of the textbox and detail section to vary using .height and allowing for 270 per line. All this works fine and everything prints. However...
The problem is that with the reports where this textbox won't fit on the first page, the detail section doesn't begin printing anything until the second page. It will then break across pages 2 and 3 just fine, but I would like it to start printing on page 1 whether it will fit or not. Research shows it has something to do with the "on retreat" event, but I can't find enough to figure out what to do.
I have a report [Report1] that gets its data from a query [Query1]. On [Report1] there is an unbound text box [EnterEndDate] that I want to use as a filter for the report criteria, and have it filter the report to show every report row with the value in the [EndDate] field greater than what the user entered in [EnterEndDate].
There is no need to save the value used in [EnterEndDate]. It will be entered after the report is run and changed on demand while the report is open for the user to see different date ranges.
This basically gives a count of for a specific month. There are twelve rows of text boxes and two columns. There is a query applied to the report to input the year, as this is a yearly report.
What I want to do is link a chart to each and every text box to show the data in an easy to view format. But I can't seem to figure it out, and I've had no luck on the web .
I am running in to a brick wall with this. I have an unbound text box with the control source set to =IIF([text42]=0,0,[text42]/[text44])*100 and in continues to return a #name? error.
I am not sure how to get this expression to work. I have even tried to put =[text42]/[text44] and I still get the #name? error.
I have a form that utilizes a combo box called cboProgAddr (for Program Address). The cbox has 5 columns each of which fills in an adjacent text box. Since I needed the option of making corrections to these text boxes once they were filled in I need to set them up as unbound via the following code in the After Update event of cboProgAddr:
Private Sub cboProgAddr_AfterUpdate() Me!txtProgStreet.Value = Me!cboProgAddr.Column(1) Me!txtLocStreet.Value = Me!cboProgAddr.Column(1) Me!txtProgCitySt.Value = Me!cboProgAddr.Column(2) Me!txtLocCitySt.Value = Me!cboProgAddr.Column(2) Me!txtProgZip.Value = Me!cboProgAddr.Column(3) Me!txtLocZip.Value = Me!cboProgAddr.Column(3) End Sub
As you can see it puts each field of data into two separate text boxes. Here's the issue: If I have to go back to the form after the original data entry the following boxes are blank...
txtProgStreet txtProgCitySt txtProgZip
while the following retain the orginal data...
txtLocStreet txtLocCitySt txtLocProgZip
The original cboProgAddr maintains its original data. All six fields above are stored in the same table as text field. I'd like all the boxes to maintain the data from the original input.
I'm totally baffled why this is so. I've attached images of the combo box control functions if that helps.
I have a form with some vertical unbound text boxes, they are table headings for my data, but they need to be editable. I can enter data in them perfectly but once you close the form the data is lost. I would like the data to be saved on the form. I have tried turning them to labels but then they are not editable. What should I try next?
I have successfully used the recommended way to display images from a folder in a form as posted on the microsoft website.

These instructions were for Access 2000. I noticed that there are seperate instructions for doing this using Access 2003.:

My questions are: 1. If multiple users access this database using different versions of Access (2000 and 2003) will it not work for some? 2. do i have to modify code if i update to 2003?
I must use XP/Access 2003 to solve this problem for reasons I won't get into.
I have a report with a Group by on City.
The users need to be able to sort by Coordinator within that OR by Client Name based on a selection they make on the form that opens the report.
-- I have tried to set .OrderBy
-- I have tried to set .RecordSource to different queries with order by hardcoded in them (I only have 2 sort options fortunately)
Is there a way to dynamically change the "Sorting and Grouping" defined in the report? This seems to be the only sorting that the report is responding to.
My Access 2003 Database contains the following objects:
1. tblTrackerData - this contains over 1,000 student enrollment records. One of the fields "QualCourseName" (text) contains the name of the Training Course that the student has enrolled in.
2. qryCourseNamesGrouped is a query based upon the above table with one field only - QualCourseName. This includes the names of the training courses and has been grouped so that only 17 training courses appear, not over 1,000.
3. frmParameter is a form that includes a combo box cboFiltered based on the above query AND a command button CmdFiltered to open a report rptCourseNamesGrouped and filter the report based on the selection made from the combo box.
I have added the following code to the OnClick event attached to the cmd button" ================================================== ======
Private Sub cboFiltered_Click() On Error GoTo Err_cboFiltered_Click Dim stDocName As String
[Code].....
When I click on the cmd button, the entire report is opened, instead of the selection that I made in the dropdown list.
I've got a simple dataset that will ALWAYS have 4 rows, against which I have assigned the colours Green, Amber, Red, Grey. So I made a simple pie-chart to go on the report, but I can't work out how to assign the same colours.
Please see 3 attachments showing the current layout, the preferred layout (which I mocked up in Excel) and the chart settings screen.
The chart is working OK i.e. 4 slices appear and they are the right size, but when I open the chart, I see only East, West, North. So I am unable to manually set the colour for the 4th slice.
I am new to Access 2007. I have a list of companies of are constantly updated, deleted, and created which are listed on a table. I have a form with an unbound text box with a sumbit button that opens a new form with the information of the name of the company in the search box. Unfornately, if the name of the company is not perfect, the record is not found and the form opens a new record. I want search box tyo autill, or "wildcard" when I begin to input a name of a company. I tried a combo box but my boss does not like it. He wants a wildcard search.
I am building a replacement Access 2013 database for our ageing Access 2003 database. I have an invoice form with a subform with a combo box that allows me to select which jobs to invoice based on the customer selected in the invoice form, which is working fine. I have designed my invoice and have the criteria [Forms]![Invoice]![ID] in the report query so that it just selects the record that is open in the invoice form. I have an ID (which is the invoice number) group on the report and it is then sorted by date and then job number. I thought it was all working fine when I tested it, it is the same method as I used in the 2003 database. However I have a problem, when I make up and print the customers first invoice it works fine, but when I go to make up a second invoice for the same customer the invoice includes all the jobs from the first invoice as well, and if I then go to reprint the first invoice all the jobs from the second invoice as there as well.
In Access 2003 I have a form, at the footer of which I want to put some summary information. One of which is a count of the number of purchases over £500. I have tried many variations after searching the posts on this site but the only one which does not return me an error of some kind with the expression is
=IIf([Bought For]>"500",Count([Bought For]),0)
where 'Bought For is the reports listing of the purchase prices in a given date range when opening the report, but the value returned in my test is '0' when it should be '2' as the test file has two purchases of over £500.
Is there a way to add a validation rule in an access form on an unbound text box. This box is currently doing a calculation of others. If the figure is not between 0 And 0.3125 then I do not want the user to be able to move on. For some reason if I enter "Between 0 And 0.3125" in the validation rule it doesn't seem to do anything. I can only assume its because its an unbound text box. Data attached please see Frm_Input and text box total standard hours.
I have a form which i use for a user to select an excel file they want to import and then click a cmd button to import the file into a table which works fine, however i want to append a date into a date field from an unbound txtbx before the file is imported so it will look something like;
When I try to import from a spreadsheet, Access crashes. No errors, no error log entry. At first I thought it was because my file was password protected, so I tried a new file with no password, but it still crashes Access.
I was just converted from 97 to 2003 this weekend. I have a query set up that links a field to a form to get the date entered in the form into the query. For example if I enter 12/31/04 on the form and run my query it is put in the field 12/31/04. But in 2003 it is just blank. The formula I used in 97 is
StartDate: [Forms]![Cash Flow]![Start Date]
Is there something new I should be using to get that to pull in?

A textbox on a form is displaying the numeric ID value that is linked to the ID in another table (which has another field which holds the text value that I want). How do I show the actual text value that the ID relates to?
i am getting stuck while updating the data in the database table using a command button in the MS Access2003 forms. when i click the command button in the form, a message "Run time 2185: you cant refer to a property or method for a control unless the control has a focus". the code is as follows.
rivate Sub Command10_Click() Dim query As String
query = "select RESOURCEINFO from tbl_control where CONTROLNAME='" + Combo4.Text + "'"
If (cn.State <> 1) Then cn.Open "dsn=ABC", "", "" End If rs.Open query, cn, adOpenKeyset, adLockOptimistic RESOURCEINFO.SetFocus rs.Fields(0) = RESOURCEINFO rs.Update
rs.Close Set rs = Nothing cn.Close Set cn = Nothing On Error GoTo Err_Command10_Click
Moving to new computer, both under Win XP pro, Access 2003. New computer is MacBook Air running Parallels. Transferred Access database via an external hard drive. Now the data shows up as Read Only. Is there a procedure to run down the cause and make the data accessible?
