View RepliesIs there a limit on the number of records you can have in an access database? I've got one with 8500 records and it's been a PITA! I have a webpage on our intranet so users can go and enter their information to it, and they get a nasty error whenever they try to enter information. I'm trying to figure out why and i was just wondering... i know it's not the webpage because when i connect it to my test database it works fine? so i dunno
any help is greatly appreciated!!
Hi All.
Is it possible to limit the number of records in a form, to a number given in a linked form.
For Example.
tblA
StreetName
No_Of_Houses
tblB
Name
Number
I would only want the number of records in tblB to be the same as No_Of_Houses in tblA.
I have seen previous threads where you can limit it to a number, but do not know where to go from there.
Can anyone help?
Thanks.
Frank.
I want to limit the # of records being entered in a form according to a limit value which has to come from a query.

Country | Text
Centr | Boolean

The number of records that have the same country, AND Centr=TRUE, AND Apply=TRUE, should not exceed the Centr limit value.
I have a database that has transactions since year 2009. I want the users to only be able to view and edit transactions that were entered in the last 6 days. I was initially able to do this by putting a filter in the Property Sheet section of the form and choosing Yes for Filter on Load.
However, a user was able to discover that by clicking on Clear All Filters, the filter I set was also cleared, thus making them see all the transactions beginning year 2009.
I am looking to run a query in Access that will limit the number of records for each criteria.
example:
>10 years count 300
1-3 years count 100
4-6 years count 200
6-10 years count 250
can limit the amount in one query or have to do the criteria separate?
In Access 2010 I am previewing a customer report. I also try to give users the choice of seeing history sub records for any given customer. I have a selection dropdown box where they can chose ALL, 5, 10 or 15 in a report. To this end I set the record source in the "Open" event for the subreport. if I want all records it works fine, but as soon as I put in "SELECT TOP 5" the subreport goes invisible. I have tested the query directly and it works fine. I'm sure this worked in Access 2007
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a report I am grouping by a category, and I want to put the total number of records in that category in a textbox in the group footer.
How would I go about doing this? I have searched high and low with no avail...
Despite Google I can't seem to figure this out.
I have some data in a format similar to:
Name / Style / description / speed / distance
john / driver / careful / 80 / 5500
mary / driver / careful / 70 / 7000
pat / racer / reckless / 100 / 6000
anne / driver / careful / 75 / 1000
peter / racer / reckless / 110 / 6500
don / snail / slow / 60 / 6000
I want my report to total by style, without details and to look like:
driver careful 13500
racer reckless 12500
snail slow 6000
How do you get a report to sum the group items by a specific item and to hide the details of that group summing?
Is there a way to have an expression in the control source of a text box in a report, that re-starts or is exclusive for every group within the report?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am trying to get the number of records under the value of 6 ... E.g. On the report it looks like this
Code:
Date Result
1 5.6
2
3 8.2

5 4

7 10
And the code I am using is

The resulting answer is 5 , when the correct answer should be 2
I'm creating a report for an imaginary "medical clinic's database", the intended function of which is described as follows: "Create a statistic that shows the total number of distinct drugs prescribed to a patient."
Where I'm at:
I've created a query called UniqueDrugs containing drug and patient info. The SQL is:
Quote:
SELECT DISTINCT Drugs.Drug_Name, Patients.[Patient _ID]
FROM Patients INNER JOIN (Drugs INNER JOIN Prescriptions ON Drugs.[Drug_ID] = Prescriptions.[Drug_ID]) ON Patients.[Patient _ID] = Prescriptions.[Patient_ID]
GROUP BY Drugs.Drug_Name, Patients.[Patient _ID]
ORDER BY Patients.[Patient _ID];
The results of this query seem to be what I need. All I need is for the count formula that I use to return the number of distinct drug names there are that are related to a patient's ID.
I've created a report and I've put the following formula into a text box:
=DCount("[Drug_Name]","[UniqueDrugs]","[Patient_ID]=[PID]")
Where PID is the name of another text box in the report that contains the Patient ID that I want to compare to the drug names returned by the query.
However, this *always* results in #Error, no matter how I change the formula.I have been led to believe that syntax is not the issue, as the following formula worked as intended for a different task:
=DCount("[Prescription_Date]","[UniqueYearQuery]","[Patient_ID]=[PID]")
How do I use a DCount to return the number of different drugs that have been prescribed to a patient?
If it did not require the number of different drugs, I would simply use the following formula, which works just fine:
=Count(Drug_Name)
I am trying to use Dcount to find the number of records in a query and put it on a text box in the header of a report. The query is a parameter query. The button opens a form which asks for start and end dates, the query reads those dates from the form and the report displays the correct number of records that fall within the date range. The query is based on another query, which is based on the table. I tried =dcount("*","qryName") but I get #error. Maybe becauase of dates? or parameters?

I have a WO Table and a related WO Procedures Table. I would like to add a specific # of blank lines/records between each record but that # will vary. So the report will show the WO Procedure Desc then a specified # of blank lines below it and then the next WO Procedures Desc then a specified # of blank lines below it etc.
I thought to add a field to the Proc tbl called #ofLines and whatever number was entered would be the # of blank lines to appear below the record on the report.
Is it possible to only display a specific number of records with multiple filters of the same field.
So say I have a table with 2 Columns:
Name
Address
Can a user basically search for multiple records based off of their names? Maybe by using a form where they can input those names like this:
John Smith
Dave Richardson
Sophie Parker
Then the report will only display the records containing those names.
Hi,
I have searched for an answer to this question a lot, but I could not find it. I hope anyone can help me with the following:
I need to do a database in MS Access; however, there is so much information and some of it is not related. After normalising it, it looks like I need a number of tables. Is there a limit to how many tables you can have on Access? And how many tables is the recommended size?
Any help will be very much appreciated.

I am designing a database for a marketing company. One of my tables has all of the company's contacts. On the contacts form, I have a button that opens up a query that shows the information for the company that contact works for. I have a problem where if I have more than one contact per company, it will return that many results (which is just a repeated list of the same company information). It is an eyesore to look at the same information in two or more rows, so I was wondering, can I make the query return only one result? I've been looking online, and I haven't found this at all. Thanks a lot.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHeyI'm trying to create a Library database. This involves restricting the number of loans available to each member (currently 3). I need to make it so no more than 3 records exist in that table for each member. For now ive just entered a VB script that has a message box saying not to enter more than 3 loans per person but I dont think thatll be enough, I need some sort of validation for the whole table rather than a field.I know how to limit the returns of sql queries which is all I can find, but not how to limit the actual amount of entries. The loan table is part of a double query within a subform of the member form if it helps :s

I only seem to be able to add some 30 calculated fields to a form or report. Anything over this returns a #Name? error. I've seen this before but have searched this and other forums but cannot find an answer. I suspect a memory issue but I have 2 gb on Pc. Any Ideas?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a project where I must send roughly a thousand individual reports to a thousand different email recipients with .pdf attachment.I know I'll need to add a table that designates the email address by SHIP_TO_CODE. Then create a form with the email subject, body, etc.. I don't neccessarily have to have the reports saved to a folder; I really just need them emailed to each account.
I was thinking I could modify the code some to accomplish my goal, but I'm not sure what to put. Maybe add a SendObject in there somewhere.CODE that I have now that saves the report to a folder. (I want to modify some to send email attachement instead)

Problem:The code I found on this site works, but not exactly the way I need it to. Using the current code (pasted below) all of the pages of the report are being saved to pdf for each group, instead of just the single page. For example, all 1000 pages of the report are being saved to each pdf file, when I only want the 1 page for each of the groups.
I believe that the problem lies in the filter for the Open Event code, but I don't know how to modifiy it to make it work the way I need.

Hi guys,
I have a text box, which requires a 8-digit number entry. I have wrote the code to check that the length is 8 and if it isn't a label will turn visible next to the field telling the user entry must be 8 digits.
This works for when i enter a number less than 8-digits but when i input a number with more digits as it does not fit into the text box it turns it to a scientific format value and when the code runs it shows the length is actually 8! And therefore the entry is valid!
I.e. when i input 123456789 the text box shows 1.23E+08 which is 8 charecters!
I dont want any error messages to pop up as i handle them by code and use labels to show the error message next to the problem field and i would like to keep this consistent. Is there any way i can do this by a function or a property in the table or form?
I appreciate any help/advice
cheers
