Reports :: Pass Parameter Values To Report Fields?

Apr 18, 2013

I have a report that is based on a query.

The query has two fields. Start and End Dates.

When I run the query the Parameter box asks for the dates by using <[Date1] and >[Date2]

What I want is to have 2 fields at the top of the report, that display the values I enter in these boxes?

Reports :: Pass Parameter To Report On Load

Apr 16, 2014

I have a report that pulls data from a crosstab query. The report works perfectly and prompts for a "StartDate" when it is run.I need a form with a date field that can be selected. Then a command button which when pressed opens the report with the selected date passed as the parameter.the code I have so far is in the on click event of the button:

DoCmd.OpenReport "rpt_12MonthlyInvoices", acViewPreview, , "StartDate=" & Me.txtStartDate

I was hoping that this would pass the txt.startDate field on the form to the report's "StartDate" when it is opened, but it is still prompting for the parameter when the report loads.Should I be using openArgs rather than the where clause? Or do I need to configure something in the "on load" event of the report also?

Reports :: Zero Values And Calculated Fields In Report

Sep 17, 2013

I am trying to get calculated fields in my report to work but zero values in the data are throwing up #Div/0! and #Error! and #Num!

The main data fields I am trying to work with are:
VehicleReading
PreviousReading
VehicleLitres

My aim is to track mileage and consumption for a fleet of vehicles and show daily and weekly averages in mileage and consumption and then to flag 20% increase in consumption.

I have a calculated field in my report named Kilometers,
= [VehicleReading]-[PreviousReading]

And also a calculated field named Consumption,
=[Kilometers]/[VehicleLitres]

My sum and average calculation fields in the group footers are only working where there are values above zero in the Kilometer and VehicleLitres and Consumption fields.

In reality there are some days where there has been no travel, so some records will have a zero for the Kilometers field and there are also days when there has been no refueling so there is a zero for the VehicleLitres field.

I have tried using the expression builder to create an IIf function but to no avail. I have tried copying the syntax suggested by the Expression builder:

«Expr» IIf («expr». «truepart». «falsepart»)

However I keep getting error messages and despite troubleshooting and looking on the internet I can't seem to find a solution to this.

Reports :: Several Fields In Report - Counting Record Values

May 10, 2014

Suppose we have a report that outlines several fields, one field shows the City. In the report, this week, we see 10 records "New York", 8 records "Houston", 7 records "London", 3 records "Paris" and so on.

Next week's report outlines different cities and different number of records. I need to have in the report footer a "recapitulation" , a field that would say :

New York 10
Houston 8
London 7
Paris 3

Total 28

Next week cities and number of records might not be the same, we may have

Tokyo 12
Singapore 14
New York 6
London 7

Can i make my report in that way that it will count the values without using VBA ? I tried the count values option but it counts the overall report, does not take into consideration the different values.

Forms :: Option Button And Date Fields To Pass Parameter

Oct 4, 2014

I have a form with option group (two option buttons) and date fields (to select a date range). The form should pull/pass parameters from the query. There's a form button that generates a report based on the query.

Issue: I can't figure it out how to link option buttons and date range to the query so when the button is clicked it generates the report with chosen criteria. The form is for the user to enter parameters.

Launching Report (reprint) From Datasheet - Unable To Pass Needed Parameter

Apr 14, 2015

I have created a report that prints a transaction input via a form. All the data has been posted to tables while the document details are still on the form. The source for the report is a query that gets its "Document ID" from the current form as its CRITERIA. This works fine. I click a button and the report prints.

Now I've added a datasheet that lists all the "Document IDs" that have been posted within a given date range. I've added a Macro to open(reprint) the same report when any Document ID is double-clicked. This is working except that it prompts for a Parameter Value and references Forms!DocDataEntry!txtDocumentID. (Note: this is the name of the original data entry form which is no longer open)

If I manually type the Document ID (that I just double-clicked) in the parameter box, the report prints correctly. But this shouldn't be necessary.

I know I'm missing a WHERE clause on the Macro that opens the report but nothing I've input works. I can't even hard code a document number. Actually any Where clause provided prompts additional parameter boxes to open and they ALL require the SAME INFORMATION... the Document ID.

I'm thinking that the Criteria on the Document ID in the query should be changed to allow a Document ID from any active source.

Macro To Run Reports With Parameter Values

Mar 24, 2006

I have devolved two reports which receive their data from the same query. I could not fit everything in one report as I am limited by Access’ 22 inch limitation. I would like to enable a user to run the reports off a Macro. The report/query requires the user to enter a “Parameter Value” such as date and facility number. When running the Macro it requires the user to input the same “Parameter Values” twice, once for each report. What I would like the Macro to do is only request the Parameter Values once. Is there a simple way to achieve this? Thanks for any assistance.

Reports :: Save Report With Name From Parameter Value?

Mar 28, 2014

Background: Access 2003

I have a database with which I use to generate reports as pdfs to load to a website.

However when I go to save the file as a pdf it is always as the report name.I am trying to automate this by using a macro as I need to run a report 50 times for ships with a different parameter each time (name of the ship) Another report needs to be run about 30 times, this time the parameter being a date And finally two other reports, but I can live with those being the name of the reports.

Firstly can this be done?

Secondly which would be the best way?

I've tried using the macro route by I run my Report "Main_Ship" with a where clause of [ship]="wiltshire". This produces the report with the relevant ship, but I am then unsure what to use next to save it as a pdf with the name "wiltshire" using the macro route.

or

Create a VBA routine that runs the report as many times as required each with a different parameter for the name of ship or date.?

Reports :: Opening Report Via Parameter - Enter Your Box ID

Mar 11, 2015

So I have a report that opens via Parameter. The SQL behind the query that runs the report is (I took out alot of lines that aren't necessary to answer the question)

PARAMETERS [Enter Your Box Id] Short;
SELECT DocumentsTable.OrganizationalID,
.
.
.
DocumentsTable.Status
FROM DepartmentsTable INNER JOIN (Year1 INNER JOIN DocumentsTable ON Year1.ID = DocumentsTable.RecordDateYearID) ON DepartmentsTable.ID = DocumentsTable.DepartmentID
WHERE (((DocumentsTable.Voided)<>'Y' Or (DocumentsTable.Voided) Is Null) AND ((DocumentsTable.ID)=[Enter Your Box ID]));

So if I click on the report, I get a little popup that says "Enter Your Box ID", and when I do, the report works just as expected.

However, I also want to be able to open this report via link from another report, and pass the Box ID #. I just can't get the syntax right. I would have thought it was this:

Private Sub ID_Click()
DoCmd.OpenReport "Find A Box", acViewReport, , "[Enter Your Box Id]=" & Me.ID
End Sub

However when that execute, I still get the pop up asking for "Enter Your Box ID"

Reports :: Print Report Based On Input Parameter

I'm not an expert on VBA but I have created the following scrip but the reports doesn't pop up.

Here is the code:

Dim SampleID As String
SampleID = InputBox("Enter Sample ID")

DoCmd.OpenReport "rptGRM_QuickPrintLabelDymo", acViewPreview, , "[Sample]=" & SampleID

Reports :: Referencing Text Boxes In A Report And Getting Enter Parameter Value

I have a report and within the report I have added some text boxes with some simple logic such as sum, count, etc. These text boxes function well as long as the logic is referencing existing fields. The minute I try to have a text box reference another text box I get the "Enter Parameter Value" box pop up. I don't understand this as the text box I am referencing has a vaule based on what it is referencing.

Example: 1st text box control source =Sum([existingfield]) I get a value.
2nd text box control source =[existingfield2]/[1st text box] I get "Enter Parameter Value" of 1st text box.

Reports :: Produce A Report By Inputting Parameter Into Text Box On A Form

May 24, 2013

I am very new to access, any way that I can have a popup box appear when I ask to produce a report and I can type in a parameter of my choice and it will produce a report based around that parameter?

I have a table that is directly linked to an excel spread sheet that is updated each week external to the database. I have to produce reports on the data contained in that table.

I have already produced reports that look for specific number and those reports are produced automatically.

I was wondering if there was some way I could open a form and type a number into a text box and it would produce a report around that number. e.g. "list all engines below X margin" and I can type any number in representing X and a report would be produced.

Can You Silently Pass A Parameter Without VBA?

Jun 20, 2007

Hello,

Can Access handle paramater-passing without getting into the object model and adding a "Parameter" datatype to a query and calling DoCmd.RunSQL etc, and also without prompting the user?

Is something like this possible (as it is in SQL Server I believe):

SELECT * FROM some_query_that requires_a_parameter(param_value='china')

I am trying to avoid the annoying bit where Access Prompts you for a parameter with the little popup, and I'm also trying to avoid the little bit called "programming it with VBA".

I'd like to see if this can be done with only a SQL query in Access.

Any thoughts are appreciated!

Thanks,

Scott

Pass Parameter Input To Excel

Please can someone tell me how to go about adding to the code below. Currently the user enters the date criteria in a form. This works great and the data is exported to excel. But I can't seem to figure out how to get the input from the user to also be exported to Cell A1 in excel. How Do I Pass A Parameter From A Form To A Query?

Sep 11, 2005

Hi

I am struggling with what seems like should be a straightforward task. Unexpectedly however it has become an infuriatingly difficult one (no doubt due to my complete novice status).

I have a very basic d/base (3 tables) that I have been searching using basic SQL queries. I want to create a simple 'search' form that produces the results of my various queries without the need to work in SQL. Enter one or more search criteria, hit ENTER, results presented in datasheet perhaps?

Thought this would have been easy but I've had no luck. Can you please explain how I can pass a parameter from a form to a query?

Many thanks

Reports :: Scrolling Down Report Changes Report Fields To Errors

Jun 26, 2013

I have an odd thing happening with my reports. There is a main report that gives class information (from query). There are two subreports (from queries also ) with scores (one for each type of test). There are some unbound controls on the main form that display a count of how many scores are recorded which are totals from the subreports. The controls all report the correct numbers however, when I scroll down to view each record, some of them change to #error, or #name, or similar for a moment. Sometimes they will stay in error form when I stop scrolling but change to correct if I scroll up just a bit. Is this because the controls won't calculate unless that report record has focus?

I've a method **querylistboxitems** and i want to call this method in several click events, only difference is listbox,dropdown values change based on the event i call.

Code:

Public Sub querylistboxitems(lstbox As listbox, dropdown As ComboBox)
Dim drpdwnvalue As String
drpdwnvalue = dropdown.Value
With lstbox
//do something
End with
End Sub

And I'm calling this in the buttion click event by passing the listbox names as **List_Compare** and **Select_CM_Compare**

Code:
Private Sub Command_compare_Click()
Call querylistboxitems_1(List_Compare, Select_CM_Compare)
End Sub

But the values passing to the function are not control names, control values i.e corresponding control selected values.
I want to use listbox name in **lstbox**, not the value.
