Basically, I've created a form to track maintenance requests for specific types of equipment. Basically it's like a ticketing system.
Once a user creates the request, I want to use a subform (I guess this is the best way) to let them add data to that specific main form record to track the progress of the request until the repair is made and the "ticket" is closed out.
Do I need to create another table for the "progress reports" (for lack of a better term) or should this be done using some sort of an append query?
I've seen plenty of sample databases where they have a box within a form that looks like a datasheet where these types of "update" notes can be added and then submitted with the click of a button, but I've never been able to get at the code behind it.
I currently have a form from which users can select their name and it will open a report listing events they have attended. It does this through a macro running a filter. What I would like to happen is the same criteria that is being used to filter the report be used as criteria for a different (unfortunately) query that can then generate a graph in the report as well.how to get the criteria into the second query for the graph.
I have a bar graph on a report in ms access that represents 4 different risks ie count on the y axis and risk type on the x axis (low, moderate high and extreme)
Question: How do i get the each bar to automatically represent the colour based on the risk colours below?
Low: Green Moderate : Blue High : Yellow Extreme: Red
TRANSFORM Count([Copy of qryDailyCountOfValidations].Staff_Number) AS CountOfStaff_Number SELECT [Copy of qryDailyCountOfValidations].PatternStartDate, [Copy of qryDailyCountOfValidations].[End Time] FROM [Copy of qryDailyCountOfValidations] GROUP BY [Copy of qryDailyCountOfValidations].PatternStartDate, [Copy of qryDailyCountOfValidations].[End Time] PIVOT Format([Start Time],"Short Time");
it shows the number of employees that start a shift at a particular time and the time the shift ends, on any day. What i need to show on a graph is the count number of employees starting at x time and plotting the number of hours the employees are on shift until they leave or another employee starts....
-the y axis is the count of employees -the x axis is the start time of their shift
10 9 8 7 xxxxxxxx 6 x x 5 x x 4 xxxxxxxx x 3 xxxxxxx x 2 xxxxxxxxxx 1 0 00:00 03:15 05:30.........................23:59
So the above mock up says 3 employees start at 00:00 and continue until 03:15 then another employee starts, then 4 employees continue 06:00, then 3 more employees start, 7 all together, then 5 employees leave later etc...
-the level of detail needed is to plot for every 15 minutes. -The [end time] is not strictly needed, just included to show what columns i have available
achieving this on a graph on an access 2010 report..i have updated a test database so you can see what the data looks like.
I have a report that contains 5 graphs, one for each day of the week. I run this report daily. When I run the report on a Monday, only the Monday graph displays data and the other graphs are blank as there is no data for that day just yet. Is it possible to hide these graphs if there is no data? I did find one suggestion to create a text box with the following code
Code: Private Sub Report() If [SumOfWed] = 0 Then Me.Graph24.Visible = False Else Me.Graph24.Visible = True End If
This does't work for me.Graph24 is the name of Wednesdays graph and the row source for the graph is TRANSFORM Sum([Wed]) AS [SumOfWed] SELECT [Machine] FROM [qryShiftDays] GROUP BY [Machine] PIVOT [Shift];
I currently have a report that generates information based upon a query. The report is broken down into 3 subgroups (Temperature --> Vzip --> VDD). The information within each subgroup seems to be correct as the report cascades through each grouping, however the graph does not update with the new information and instead just copies a clone of itself throughout each Temperature group in the report.
That being said, the first graph that is generated is correct for that group (Temp: -55)... but the report simply copies that graph into the next temperature categories.
I've attached a .pdf of a report generated to visually show what I am referring to, ** notice it replicates the same graph for each group **
How to change the Title of a graph with code. By title I mean the box on the graph that automatically displays the name of the table used to create the graph in the chart wizard. I've tried numerous bits of code found in different forums but they all failed.
Access 2010 OLE Class: Microsoft Graph Chart Class: MSGraph.Chart.8
I want to be able to take two separate queries to create a 2 line graph. Also to be able to spice the graphs up some. The ones I have done, single line, even seems dull.
When I make the column graph the data seems to not be in any order. The report is in order by the number of days in ascending order.
How can I have the columns with the largest number show up first and the columns get smaller. I would like the largest column all the way to the left, proceeding the next one in size so it goes from largest to smallest.
I have set up a form on which there is a graph which draws data from a query. I have set up a text boxes to take in the Y axis min, max and interval values so the user can customize the graph according tot he range coming out of the query. This all works fine and is perfect, however, i also need a report and set up a report with the same graph which can be printed to pdf, however, i cant get the y-axis to adjust like i do with the one on the form,
I am trying to generate a report that is based off of a query. The query has a form filter that it needs to filter the data. I keep getting a jet engine error and couple others.
The form has year, start week, and end week on it. I can get the query to work fine. When I try to open the report, Access says it doesn't recognize the " [Forms]![frmUptimeFilter]![StartWeek] " as a valid field name or expression.
I have a table that contains passive and active devices. I want to find correct active device to which passive device is connected. However passive device can be connected to another passive device and after that to an active device - could be endless times a passive device is connected to passive device and then in the end to an active device. So the code needs to plot the path from beginning passive device to the correct active device.
I will include excel table with data and wanted result.
The criteria for passive devices that need its active device found, is i think something like this:
Code: SELECT * FROM tablename WHERE [TYPE] = "D3P" AND NOT [Mark] LIKE "*ZUUM*" AND [Sort] = "Passive"
I got the result via doing excel function index-match for like 5 times and excel stalling. However I would like it to be done automatically.
I am using Access 2007 with Windows XP. I have a scatter chart embedded in a form that is plotting data from a subform with a trendline that is extracted and used on the form for calculations. After having the table set up correctly and running fine, I closed the database and then reopened it to have the table plotting the data in a made up 1 to 1 relationship rather than what is in the datasheet. The only way I have been able to fix this error is to change the chart type to something else then back to a scatter plot and remake the trendline. Why this is happening and how to prevent it?
Ihave created a table that contains student name, last name address and GPA. THe instructor asked :You must find all the students that have a GPA of 3.0 or greater. Sort them so the highest GPA is the first student in the query.
I've read through many of the threads relating to sending Email from Access but can't seem to find quite what I'm looking for. I work as a Tutor Coordinator at a local college and I've set up Access to handle a lot of the day-to-day chores that our administrative assistant has to deal with.
One feature that would be absolutely wonderful would be to create and send Emails to students at the click of a button. I have several types of Email I'd like to be able to set up, but the one most needed (and probably most complex) is this:
Students come in to the office and request a tutor. If we have a tutor available, we assign them to an available tutor. If there is no tutor availabe, then every Friday we send out an Email to each individual student saying something like this:
"Dear John Doe - We currently do not have a tutor for MATH 101 at this time, but when one becomes available we will let you know... blah, blah, blah..."
I'd like to set it up so that the body of the message comes from a template - such as a text file (that is easily edited by a user) and populated with fields from a query.
Probably do something like this:
Query the Student_First_Name_field, Student_Last_Name_field, Department_Name_field, Course_Number_field, and Student_Email_field. Send an Email to each Email address pulled from the Student_Email_field and tell them the following - "Dear <first name, last name> we currently do not have a tutor for <department name, course number> at this time... blah, blah, blah..."
Currently the way the administrative assistant handles this is to send each student an Email individually - manually creating each Email with the specific data needed. As you can guess, this is quite time-consuming.
I'm rather new to Access but have been a RDMS programmer (in PICK) for several years. I know what it is I want to do, but don't know how to do it in Access.
Any help?
Would the best way be to use text files for templates?
Can text files be set up with field codes (Access recognizes "<LAST NAME>" to be Student_Master_Table.Last_Name_field)?
I'm guessing this will likely have to be a Visual Basic loop that works with data from a query.
I have a simple database with 2 tables, students and progress. I need to set up my database so that when I create a new record for a student (using a form I've created) it automatically creates 4 new entries in the progress table using the ID I have generated in the form and a task number (1-4) for each of these entries.
Additionally, once all tasks are set to complete = true, I need to set the field "all tasks complete" to true. I'd like to do this all without vba if possible.
I can't quite get my head around this - any help is much appreciated.
I have (amongst others):
tblStudents (containing basic info. name etc) tblClasses (containing a list of studentIDs with classes they are in, so, for example, there may be 3 entries of studentid "1", each with different classes next to them, to show that studentid 1 is in classes: a b and c for example. tblGrades (containing studentID and masses of fields with different grades for different subjects in.)
What I would like to do, is select the class name from a list (which I can do, no problem). Open up a form listing all the students in that class, with all their grades next to them.
This SOUNDS simple - but I don't think it really is! I could just be having a VERY simple moment though too - if so, I apologise!
I've been designing a database for a private school. Every Student attends some Lessons in specific Classes.
To my knowledge I can meet the above requirement by using a join table which holds StudentID, LessonID and ClassID, or to have a join table StudentsandLessons which holds StudentID and LessonID and another table with a one-to-one relation with StudentsandLessons which holds the ClassID for every Student-Lesson record.
The first way has the disadvantage of not allowing null values for records. This is a problem for me, because in the school the want firstly to enter Lessons and afterwards - when Schedule is ready to - enter Classes. I thought a solution to the above restriction could be the Classes field to have a default value e.g. NoClassYet but this isn't aesthetically correct for me. The second way overcomes the above restriction, but it doesn't seem "programmatically " correct to me.
Any ideas would be far more than just helpful. Thank you in advance
